Basically as title states. It won't charge properly and takes a lot of faffing for it to actually start charging. What is wrong and how can it be fixed?

Is it the charger?
no, it is the phone. many chargers have been tried
I still want help with this guys

We need more info.
When you say it's not charging 'properly', do you mean not at all or just very slowly?
Also, what do you mean by 'takes a lot of faffing for it to actually start charging'?
Cheers
Not charging at all. You have to keep moving the position of the charger and try to get the right position for it to charge but this is now nigh on impossible.
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
OK, when you say 'moving the position of the charger', do you mean the plug in the side of the phone? If so, have you tried another lead?
Sounds to me like you may have a faulty USB socket on the phone, maybe. Does it work for data transfer?
I have tried my Xperia play charger and a HTC charger to no avail, you have to move the thing that you plug into the phone (don't know what it's called, pin?) And its very hard and time consuming to get it in the right position.
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
That says its a faulty charger socket on your phone. Give it to service.
And BTW, try to use the charger specified by the device manufacturer only. It has the right voltage and amperage needed by your battery.
Didn't think about that, thanks!
How much do you think it would cost to get repaired?

i've tried all the power + volume combos...how did you get to bootloader?
If people just let their phones charge undisturbed overnight and tried the next day to boot, that number would be -80%..
I bricked my N4 by accidentally flashing a wrong bootloader - a simple error that proved fatal!

That would brick basically any phone. You don't play around with flashing the bootloader unless you're sure.
Got the red light once while doing benchmarks.. But i was able to get into bootloader mode reflash system img.And bam i was good to go..
Dang man, this same problem is happening to the LG Optimus G. There is a thread on xda for that phone and the op says to take the back cover off, disconnect the battery then reconnect it and that fixes it. Maybe worth a shot on the nexus.?? That is if you don't want to reflash the phone.

Why you want to do it the hard way that void the warranty than the easy way?

I plugged on my friend's car charger and suddenly my phone turned off and wont turn on.
When I plug on charger or USB and keep holding power, red led blinks many times, faster and faster.
My computer wont recognizes it.
Any solution?

Holy crap. It's literally IN THIS THREAD.
Leave it on your charger for several hours and see if it boots. If not, it's probably RMA time.
It's plugged for about 10 hours and nothing.
I live in Brazil, no sells here yet and it was bought on USA.

I was just mentioning other options just in case someone couldn't get into the bootloader. What if you send the phone to lg because you couldn't get into the bootloader to reflash and they can by disconnecting the battery and find out that you are unlocked and rooted when the phone boots back up, which would also void your warranty. Although I would not take the back cover off if the phone was stock, might as well send the phone back if you can't get it to boot.

I am in exactly the same situation as you. Prospects to resuscitate our bricked Nexus 4 are extremely dim!
Im wondering if what is posted Here may cause this issue?
Please, any advice will be thanked.

You seem to know very little about how chargers, batteries and charging circuitry works. To put your mind at ease, a USB 2.0 port is rated at 5V DC, 500mA. That will charge a Nexus 4, albeit slowly. Your 0.7A charger isn't going to fry anything, as there are multiple safeties built in, unless something is SEVERELY wrong with it, meaning faulty construction.

So you are telling me that, unless there is any issue with the charger (faulty construction) there is no reason to worry about that it will lead to this "Red light of death" or any other issue (lowering battery lifetime for example)?
This is totally off topic but, Do you (personally) think it's true what people say that charging a cellphone with a lower output charger increases its battery service?
Quick question:
Does this red light issue appear when battery is drain to 0% (among other factors)

There is no reason to worry unless the charger or your phone is faulty, in other words, hardware failure on either side. Unfortunately there would be no easy to foresee that.
The charging circuitry will only use what it needs to do it's job. As long as the voltage is within range and the current is not too LOW, you're OK. The N4 is rated at 900 mA to perform a standard charge. It will accept as low as approx. 500 mA to charge in USB mode. That idea is rubbish.
So I've got a dx I'm getting set up for my wife...
Originally installed paranoid android but was having problems sometimes getting past a bootloop and did not realize that it won't charge during recovery,,,, it also would not charge while off it kept trying to reboot which would then loop....
So i searched and read about cutting an old cable and rigging it so it would work with dead battery..
That worked and seemed to be going fine, wound up doing an sbf and starting over, rooted again ,,, all was good,, (or so i thought) took off the cable rig,,,
and now if i try to charge it it shows a green light and icon animates like it's charging,,, but it's really not. It died again...
Thought maybe just the battery was old and gave up the ghost...
So i ordered another BH5X,, got it in and same thing happens with it,,, and if i try to charge from a powered off state it will try and boot up fully but then quickly display a large battery with a question mark and then reboot, starting the cycle over again...
What gives??? Did I screw something up internally, with the cable hack???

Had the same problem here. It seemed like charging but then fell out almost directly. Like he's using too much power while charging (even when power is off). After an extremely long charging he finally gave up 4% .. But went dead again after like 15 minutes......
Somebody any idea? Lot a thanks if you have any!..
if you did something like [Howto] Fix "Battery Low - Cannot program
you likely fried your phone and there is no fix
but phone not charging can be one of several problems
bad software: fix with sbf
bad charger: buy new charger
bad usb charging port: no fix at least not easy anyways Replacement Micro USB Charging Port
bad battery: buy new battery
also may want to buy a Battery Charger for Motorola Droid X (MB810)
or a TBH’s Motorola Programming Cable Adapter
I suddenly woke up to my Note 3 saying it's charging, but it's not. Slowly the battery is decreasing, but it still says it's charging. I'm not using the factory Note 3 charger. I'm using my Motorola factory charger and it's been fine until now.
What sd card are you using? I am having issues with my note 3 that seem to be tied back to the SanDisk ultra card. Minor issues are still present with another brand and issues are absent with no sd card. "Battling" with Samsung support right now.

I know it's SanDisk, but that's all.
That could be your issue. My original note 3 cooked while charging with that sd card. Having major heat issue with replacement now too. Hopefully the new sd card solves this since Samsung is being no help. They want me to send in my phone so they can "evaluate" it for two weeks while I twiddle my thumbs with no phone.

It could be draining faster than it can charge. Try the N3 charger to see if it will charge faster... It will at least keep the phone going.

I had the same problem about a week ago try different chargers .if that doesn't work . you need to change the port
Ever since going to KK, my phone says it to use the factory charger. Says this even when I am using it. I went back to stock MJE and it stopped. Went back to KK and a week later the errors are back. I am going to go back to MJE and root it and see if they stop for good.

I think it's just not using the factory charger. It charged a couple percent if I left it on my computer, but it was extremely slow. I ordered an OEM off of eBay and hopefully it's here soon.
Okay so I got the new charger and still getting the same result. Any Ideas?

How did you get it to flash back to MJE?. I'm getting that same error message despite always using the factory charger; anyway- Odin won't recognize it when hooked up to the computer either.
In the meantime, I've ordered a wireless charger so I can at least keep using it.

Bad battery?
Make sure whatever AC adapter you're using can output at least 2/2.1amps, if it cant its gonna charge really slow. Thats the only reason, SD card wouldn't have anything to do with charging. If still not working you've damaged your battery and need a new one
Sounds like your usb port could have gone bad. You can buy a new one on ebay for cheap and do your own port swap which is simple. You can look it up on YouTube make sure you get port for your your device. Make sure to use the orginal charger for your device yoh could do damage to your battery, port, or device itself if you dont use original charger. It will happen damage over time if charger has similar specs. Faster if chargers specs are off.
My phone doesn't quick charge anymore..just slow slow charging. I tried wiping cache ,factory reset..anyone facing this? Tried 2 different chargers,on another phone quick charge works ..on mine it doesn't
Maybe this is a shot in the dark, in device care click on the battery icon then 3 dots go to settings and fast cable charging at the bottom. Hopefully you can switch on (fingers crossed)
It could be the inevitable Samsung Galaxy issue from the last few gens where to charge port connector gets loose. I know people who could only wireless charge. Thats the only thing stopping a recall or class action law suit. Lol
