i've tried all the power + volume combos...how did you get to bootloader?
If people just let their phones charge undisturbed overnight and tried the next day to boot, that number would be -80%..
I bricked my N4 by accidentally flashing a wrong bootloader - a simple error that proved fatal!

That would brick basically any phone. You don't play around with flashing the bootloader unless you're sure.
Got the red light once while doing benchmarks.. But i was able to get into bootloader mode reflash system img.And bam i was good to go..
Dang man, this same problem is happening to the LG Optimus G. There is a thread on xda for that phone and the op says to take the back cover off, disconnect the battery then reconnect it and that fixes it. Maybe worth a shot on the nexus.?? That is if you don't want to reflash the phone.

Why you want to do it the hard way that void the warranty than the easy way?

I plugged on my friend's car charger and suddenly my phone turned off and wont turn on.
When I plug on charger or USB and keep holding power, red led blinks many times, faster and faster.
My computer wont recognizes it.
Any solution?

Holy crap. It's literally IN THIS THREAD.
Leave it on your charger for several hours and see if it boots. If not, it's probably RMA time.
It's plugged for about 10 hours and nothing.
I live in Brazil, no sells here yet and it was bought on USA.

I was just mentioning other options just in case someone couldn't get into the bootloader. What if you send the phone to lg because you couldn't get into the bootloader to reflash and they can by disconnecting the battery and find out that you are unlocked and rooted when the phone boots back up, which would also void your warranty. Although I would not take the back cover off if the phone was stock, might as well send the phone back if you can't get it to boot.

I am in exactly the same situation as you. Prospects to resuscitate our bricked Nexus 4 are extremely dim!
Im wondering if what is posted Here may cause this issue?
Please, any advice will be thanked.

You seem to know very little about how chargers, batteries and charging circuitry works. To put your mind at ease, a USB 2.0 port is rated at 5V DC, 500mA. That will charge a Nexus 4, albeit slowly. Your 0.7A charger isn't going to fry anything, as there are multiple safeties built in, unless something is SEVERELY wrong with it, meaning faulty construction.

So you are telling me that, unless there is any issue with the charger (faulty construction) there is no reason to worry about that it will lead to this "Red light of death" or any other issue (lowering battery lifetime for example)?
This is totally off topic but, Do you (personally) think it's true what people say that charging a cellphone with a lower output charger increases its battery service?
Quick question:
Does this red light issue appear when battery is drain to 0% (among other factors)

There is no reason to worry unless the charger or your phone is faulty, in other words, hardware failure on either side. Unfortunately there would be no easy to foresee that.
The charging circuitry will only use what it needs to do it's job. As long as the voltage is within range and the current is not too LOW, you're OK. The N4 is rated at 900 mA to perform a standard charge. It will accept as low as approx. 500 mA to charge in USB mode. That idea is rubbish.
soo my issue is the fast charging.
first few days it was fast charging everything worked fine after that it stoped fast charging. when i plug it in it dosent show "fast charge connected" insted it shows " usb ".... so i thought something wrong with the cable so i changed it.... so i changed just the cable not the plug works fine. my first thought is that the cable is broken or something,
1. can that be true that the cable is not proper build?
2. does it affect anything that i charge my phone with an older cable?
Just double check under settings, power settings, fast charging is still checked. Once I accidently uncheked it.

no no the fast charging is checked.... like i said with the cable that came with the phone fast charging is not working...... other cables yes everythings normal
That's odd because the cable has nothing to do with it. Maybe your stock cable has been damaged.
I don't know it's confusing to me too. because the first two days it was working great after that It's not fast charging . maybe my cable was bad made!! but fast charging is working with another cable l have from my old s3 !

How do you know of fast charging is working? Thought the screen had to be off?
Yes the cable will affect fast charging. Fast charging only works with cables of certain gauge (thickness). You must have damaged your cable, or it was already damaged before you got it. Don't worry this has no effect on the battery, no degradation.

ok so the cable could have been already damaged...... the thing is when i fast charge it with the other cable it charges the same time as the cable that came with the phone.... i also noticed that i get the same battery life also...... sooooo i there must be no harm at all right????
rapid charging multiple issues
My Note 4 did the same thing: 1st charge worked great, then it started showing connected to the RC, but unable to charge and flashing LED. Sometimes it still charges okay (not rapid) and sometimes really crawls. The "not able to charge" plops up every few minutes. Word was that there was a chord issue with the OEM and that they were fixed, but replacing the ones that were shipped already with a problem. That didn't fix my issue. The new word is that it's a device issue in some cases. For me, it does appear to be the device since I've done a FDR and tested multiple chargers, chords, OEM and carrier options. Contacting Samsung today as a DOA device. I'll let you know what happens. :fingers-crossed:

If you are hooking it up to a computer to charge, you will not get fast charging. It has to be plugged in with the power plug only to get a fast charge.

I got a replacement device by warranty and it's charging exactly as it should. All of my cables and plugs are working.
Wow...it's fast...faster than expected even! I'm loving the new Note, now! Just one of those things that happens sometimes.
Good luck with getting yours working. I should think it would be covered by the warranty.
Happy holidays to you and yours!
replacement
How long did it take to get a replacement? Had my phone for almost a month now and its very on /off with the charging. When i first got it it showed fast charger connected and got 50% charge as advertised in half an hour. Now it will, if im lucky charge maybe 10% in an hour. Just now, went to bed with 13%. 5hrs later it got to 32%. Havent tried a different cable and plug combo yet.

Another thing to check, make sure the standard usb end is snug in the charging adapter. Mine wasn't fast charging, but it was slow charging (I think - showed lightening bolt in battery icon) and then I pushed the usb into the fast charging wall adapter a little more and it resolved the issue

I've had my Note since December last. It was fast charging just fine for about a month then I noticed it became sporadic, then it went to slow charge after that, then stopped charging altogether.
I changed the cable and it started to fast charge again for about a month and the same thing happened. It just deteriorated over time until it stopped charging.. So this is what I've been doing since. I'm on my third cable now. I've been wondering if the higher voltage etc, that enables the fast charge feature breaks the cable down. Just a thought:confused.
I had the same issue when I just got my note 4 a few months back. It turn out to be the charger that is causing the problem. I went to the service centre (in Singapore), the reception told me it is a common problem with the charger. Had it changed and the problem solved.
fast charge
So my problem was that the first days fast charging was working then I deside to desable the fast charge and now I can't enable I need help
Somebody help me please
Last night i still use adaptive for fast charging. Nothing problem.
Until today, when i plug in device( note4), it not charge anymore, sometime it display charging but actually nothing.
Plug out the cable, touch the adaptive and dont know why it too hot (only 20min with cant charge anything). It smell like plastic burn, very sickening.
Anyone get this problem. Help me please guy?
Is your phone charging properly with a common adaptor?
Either your adaptor was defective or your socket.
Stock apldaptive from the box
Last night it still normal, i have unchecked fast charging
Today check it again and this problem appear
That smell like give me a cancer
I have tried again but it not charge like normal: every 2 sec it off then it on , it repeat and i sacre my battery will be affected. I dont know what to do now
Have to use tab charge for now but i cant believed : buy it only 2 month ago and got this **** problem.
Any ideas guy?

that is the big problem with devices from another country or online markets, no one to service or phisically help you, nothing better than acquiring legally and locally, always covered with warranty, in my country, with te largest carrier, it takes 10 days at most to fix any device or replace any device, even rooted, think about this for future devices

That's a sign of a bad battery or a problem with the charger or USB cable. If you have any old chargers and jab cables lying around (even if not QC3.0) try one of them. If that still doesn't fix it, then you have a defective battery.

I stated I knew someone with the issue and you are saying that that batteries are bad..shrug... It's a software issue that has come up on other devices besides the V20.
Ever since installing the May 2019 update:
Charging is very very slow with any USB C-A cables/adapters. On Ampere I get less then 200 mA. Sometimes less than 100 mA. So the phone consistently loses power even connected to the charger.
Previously (on April update) last month, I would get over 1000 mA with the same cables and charger. I've tried multiple cables without success.
The stock Google USB C brick and charger DO work to fast charge. However many times the charging does not work at all. I have to then reverse the USB-C cable (turn it to the other end) and then it starts to charge.
I've tried cleaning the USB-C port and taken out the lint. I've also reflashed the May update a couple of times, without any progress.
Anyone have any pointers? Has the phone suddenly gone bad? Do I need to RMA or is there a software fix for this?
Thanks in advance.
Maybe it's your cable man.. You need to try other chargers or cables. I don't think so any phone will behave like this based on software changes because it's not a known issue and when i was in the may security patch it worked fine.
Thanks

Thank you for replying. I tried extensively and only the USB C to USB C stock google cables with their PD charger works.
All other USB-C cables from Anker, Aukey or other good brands - charge very very slowly.
If you don't mind, could you please tell me what cables you use to charge your phone? It's funny but everything was fine before I upgraded to the May update, the same cables used to work fine.

Thanks for confirming. What cables do you use (other than the one that came with the phone from Google?).
The trouble is that this wasn't a problem with the April security patch. All of my cables used to charge fine, it suddenly seemed to have happened after installing the May patch. Or maybe my phone is fried.
I've always used the original came...
If you have switched cables..i suggested you to charge your phone on safe mode. This will eliminate a lot of stuff.
I hope you know how to go to safe mode

I'll also try to downgrade to the April security patch and see if anything changes. It's just weird. In the past, I could use any cable and it would all be perfect. Now it's become a pain.
Sometimes the phone doesn't charge and have to reverse the cable or turn it upside down. Or start-stop the phone.

My first post, but I thought I'd add in my 2 cents. My 2xl has been losing battery charge faster than ever and charging extremely slow since around the beginning of May too. I run, stock rooted with Magisk, and the last Flash kernal. However I have not updated the OS in about a year. (Don't ask) the only thing that changes is app updates. I generally update those as needed. Aside from from basic user apps Google does make changes sometimes that effect my performance. I can't say for sure what cause the change, but the big major changes I did make was updating to the latest stable Magisk manager. Around then is when I noticed the bad charging and battery performance. Yes I know MM isn't supposed to do that, but that's when I noticed. Since I'm not on the May update, I'm taking a guess it's something Google did.. IDK

Have the same issue, tried several different cables and charging bricks. I've got usb charging meter, It always charges from one side of the type c with 1+ apm and 0.1 amp from other side.
Mine's similar. Sometimes charges fast, sometimes too slow to top up battery, sometimes not at all. I reckon it's the port on the phone. Now looking for a new phone and it won't be a Pixel!
