Hi everyone. I have some trouble that there are some copies of every contact in my phonebook. It seems that Sim, Phone and Google contacts are displayed. I just want to see only Phone contacts for example when Im choosing people to send sms... How to??

If you press menu and show, you can choose which contacts to see. A tip: sync with Google contacts only, and edit your contacts from Google contacts on your Pc. You can merge contacts etc.

Previously had all my contacts on the sim. Now that I have samsung galaxy s, and will probably stick with the same O.S. for the future, it would be nice to convert all my #s to google. Can't find any option on the phone to do this.

that is a good question..i searched for the same function but i did not find a proper option...i only managed to link my phone contacts with my facebook contacts, which is really cool
Thanks, if they are linked then where is the phone number stored, is it still only on the sim or does it go into the "facebook contact" which i imagine the facebook contact is stored on the phone.
I wish there was some sort of smart contacts manager application on the PC that you could merge sim <-> facebook <-> gmail contacts all into one set of gmail only contacts.

At last guys. Searched for 3 days. Everybody says " not yet" but i find a solution.
first Upgrade mt version to official 2.2 .
then sync with goolge
and update facebook from market.
Sync contacts with facebook.
And now contacts synced with facebook contacts.
PS : European un-branded version.
The problem is if you have to manually merge a facebook contact to a regular one. You can't do it. Yeah the initial sync works but if it doesn't merge some of the contacts because the name was different or something you can't merge them yourself.

well the old version or modified 2.2 (steve's froyo) has no option about merging contacts with facebook. i tried everything. no mrge option avaiable.
Now it merged automaticly with facebook contacts which has same name or number at phone contacts list. i also merged the other people too.
Hi. When I press the Menu key under CONTACTS "Merge Contacts" option is missing. It's on other devices. I'd like this option because I'd like to merge my device contacts with my google contacts at anytime. It's not the same as syncing to my google account. My device contacts don't appear in my gmail contacts. Is this only missing from the AT&T I337 models only? I don't wanna import a .csv file into gmail and then sync down to my device. I wanna be able to merge my local contacts with my gmail contacts just in case I forget to save a new contact to my gmail account.
Which ROM should I install to get this feature enabled? I think its disabled because of the ability to use a AT&T Address Book Subscription for syncing purposes. I'm on a different Carrier and wouldn't need any of AT&T bloated features.
I'm not talking about Merging Duplicate Contacts. I just wanna merge phone contacts to gmail account.

I found the answer. I had to root the device and then flash the ROM to either GoldenEye 8.0 or Mint Jelly or AROMA Alpha v11

i have an autompumkin android 4.4 device.
i have problems with my contacts, they are synced but not all
so i think there is an limitation for the contacts.
my question is how do you handle your contacts? can i sync the contacts with google? how can i use them with the telephone app
is there an alternative telephone/Dialer app i can use?
