That's the question! I have MXP right now, great phone, but I thing I like AMOLED screen more... like a hundred bucks
No way, keep the Moto X. You'll see the first time you try to use the N6 outdoors. Also, the camera sucks on the N6 when compared to the Moto X. But hey, the choice is yours!

Damn cat knocked my N6 off a table and shattered the screen yesterday and I am exactly in the same boat. I just don't know which to buy. If there are any Moto X Pure users in here coming from an N6 I would love to hear your arguments on this.

The fact that the MXP is "newer" and has, mostly, better specs would haunt me if I got a N6. I wanted a N6 so bad just before I heard of the MXP, but after I read the specs on the MXP I was glad I waited to get it.
If I got a N6, it would "bother" me that there was a similar, better phone out.
Former N6 user. I loved the device, but I switched because the camera was useless for videos (OK for photos) and lack of storage space (64 GB is not available locally and even that isn't enough storage so microSD is a must).

I came from the N6 the Mxp. The screen is better on the N6, also battery life. The Mxp feels great in the hand, despite having a big screen and I can operate it one handed, couldn't do that on the N6. I had the 32gb version N6, so I filled it up fast with music and other media. I had to stream content a lot which used up a lot of data. I also didn't like using the cloud, because it depends on a strong data connection. The Mxp solved this problem with the sd card slot. Popped in my 64gb card and ended all the cloud stuff and streaming. Call quality is better on the Mxp, I can hear people better and clearly. On the N6, I had to sometimes turn the volume all the way up to hear. The speakers on the Mxp are phenomenal. Through the headset they sound great with my beats headphones. The headset quality on the N6 wasn't good. Overall I like both phones, your choice will depend on how you use phone storage wise and if you like Amoled vs. LCD.
Let's wait and see how much for the new Nexus 6P next week, especially the 64GB and 128GB versions.

That's for the lowest model of the Moto X Pure. If you compare 32gb versions, it'll be N6 $300 vs MXP $450. Cause apps these days, 16gb wont cut it for long.

I was just watching this last night:

This was a VERY good comparison. I was not at all happy with the Nexus. I used it for a week and was over it. For me the Moto X is the way to go.

Yeah, I think I'll keep MXP (N6 was for $300 on ebay last night!). However, I owned N6 before and I was spoiled with AMOLED, which is not as bright as MXP though. MXP is superior by far. I love sd card slot and how fast it is overall. I only hate that you lose warranty once you unlock bootloader. But for me root is a must. Included wall charger charges with supersonic speeds.
I am trying to make this decision now but between the 64GB Nexus 6 for $370 or my MXP which once I factored in tax, a memory card and and everything came out to be about $530 (32GB, wood back, 64GB card microsd). I am wondering if the $160 difference is worth it. I may go check out a Nexus at the mall.
I think you should wait until tomorrow for google to announce the new Nexus 6 before making a decision. That phone may be in your price range and significantly better than the old Nexus 6.

I changed my mind and I'm returning MPX. Battery life sucks, no wireless charging and my Aukey quick charger is not working with Moto. No Band 12 for T-Mobile is not a big deal, no sd card as well (I can live with 32GB). AMOLED is better for Moto Display. Returning mine tomorrow to Best Buy. Keeping N6 and waiting for cheaper N6P Na zdrowie!
I have both phones the MXP is like the N6s little brother not quite as good as big brother the battery sucks I have had many phones the battery will never get better. Signal strength(4G) is not as good close but no cigar which may get fixed with new radio but I wouldn't hold my breath. Unless the new N6 is a super phone the old N6 is still the best phone out there. The Note 4 is a excellent phone but lack of development killed it.
The N6 is simply too big for me. The form factor alone makes the difference to me. Otherwise the N6 is a very nice device at a great price, although I also appreciate the moto enhancements.

I got my MXP last week and I love it so far. However, I see so many complaints about busted units, units going bad, and poor customer service, that I'm debating returning it and getting something else.
Now we all know that the negative stuff always gets more kicking and screaming than the positive, so I wanted to see how many people have had good experiences so far. How many of you have had the phone since release and have had no issues? How many of you have had good experience with customer service?
I have 7 days to decide if I'm returning the phone, but I wanted to see if it's really all that bad since Moto was bought by Lenovo.
Really... i have no problems here. I´m happy with that phone, exept it has no fm radio, all other things are good for me. good battery, good haptic, no hang ups, smooth ROM and nice camera. and the material is very nice (i have a leather back).
It's the coolest phone I've ever owned for sure. You can't go wrong with Moto Maker customizations when it comes to look and feel. Love the feel of my wooden back. I've dropped it a few times, albeit inside a case, and so far I have no dents, scratches, or screen issues. Love the practically stock Android build. Love the extra Moto apps. Having SMS read back to me is really nice when I'm driving. The software still runs snappy and smooth, with only occasional stutters (which happens with ANY android phone regardless of chipset let's be honest). The phone can get warm with heavy use, but never what I'd call hot. The camera may not be on par with the iPhone 6 or Galaxy S6, but it's still the best I've owned coming from HTC and Motorola phones.
My only real annoyance is the headphone jack being on top as opposed to the bottom of the phone. I also wish that 3rd party music player apps could have the same functionality with Moto display that Play Music does.
This is an awesome phone IMO, especially for the price.
I'm sure many of us are happy. However, I will acknowledge that customer service seems to be a significant and pervasive problem.
Luckily haven't had to deal with customer service, and I'm very happy with the phone. Feels good, works good, good price..... no complaints.
I really like my phone and features. Battery life is good for my use and overall it is an excellent device. You have to understand there will be bad units like with any other phone. Also, people on the forum are usually more advanced users and have a tendency to be very particular on what they want from a phone. There is always going to be something out there that does some function, whether it be processor, camera or whatever, better than this phone. I look at it from the price and value I receive from this phone. It is an excellent buy for the dollar. It is by no means perfect but satisfies my needs.
Love my X, coming from a Z3 rooting is so easy

Are you kidding? The Moto X Pure Edition is like the best phone you can buy! I just got a brand new 32 Gb model on Amazon for $450, that is $250 off the MSRP of $699. You can root it, you have an external sdcard, you can get it with larger internal sdcard, you get a huge, brilliant screen, and you can root it. What is not to love?
The only recommendation I can make is that you ditch the stock Google Now launcher and get something good like the Nova Prime Launcher. With the Nova launcher, you can add Xposed modules and really change it the way you like. Great phone, no complaints!

So far it's been a blast with this phone, I'm really glad i bought it! No defects or problems with the phone that I've noticed. It's really smooth and close to stock, decent amount roms so far, amazing speakers, screen, and feel. It's great, just wish we could get our hands marshmallow asap!
The camera is such a huge upgrade from the note 3s, and the vibration motor is so nice. Love this phone.
My Best Buy MPX has a couple spots on the LCD panel. Thinking about returning it but I'll get a replacement. Have had the Note 3 and Note 4 and really love this phone.
Don't like the volume button placement (or how flimsy the buttons feel) nor do I like the mono colored LED light.
But I really, really like this phone.

You are not missing anything. That is what Verizon charges for a new smartphone. Nobody else charges that much but when I got my Razr, that was a $599 phone. If I lost it and needed it replaced, I had to pay the full $600 unless I got insurance. Verizon kept that $600 replacement Razr Maxx price for years! After a couple of years, I wanted to drop the insurance but they would not budge on the $600 replacement cost so I kept the coverage. I lost/broke the Maxx 4 times in 3 years, each deductible was $100 with the Verizon/Asurion insurance. I broke it 3x and left it on the men's room counter at McDonalds once, drove right back, no phone.
Verizon would not insure this phone because they did not sell it to me. They told me to return the Moto-X Pure Edition to Amazon, then buy a phone from them (At FULL RETAIL) and then they would insure it! Who wants a watered down 2nd Gen phone with no ext-sdcard, tiny screen, and small internal sdcard? Bah! Amazon has the Asurion insurance, $36 for 4 years. But, no lost or theft coverage.
The Pure Edition at $400 Amazon is a good price, brand new. I wanted some room in the phone and $50 to get a 32 GB internal sdcard was worth it since you cannot do that upgrade later like buying a huge external card and plugging it in.
I've had mine from from day 1 and have yet to have an issue. People only post when they have bad experiences!
I love the phone, having owned it for about a month now. Not sure why you'd want to switch if you love it too.
I am really happy with the MXPE.
Headphone out audio quality/power is really good (main reason I bought it), with Audio Effects turned off ( completely disabled). Runs smooth and cool (does get warm with extended GPS navigation using Google maps), overall fewer glitches than other phones I've had, but I keep the Moto stuff disabled and a fairly minimal app load which probably helps. (No gaming either.) 128GB SD card mounted, also mounts 2TB exFAT USB HD and spins it up with no external power on USB OTG, a pleasant surprise. Using 2 second MP3 lead-in silence as workaround for ringer/notification volume ramp issue, no complaints there. Battery performance is middling, but the Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 actually delivers as promised and effectively compensates with quick top-ups while commuting etc. Display auto-brightness is slow to respond, I turned it off and use the manual brightness slider which is fine because it is in the two-finger pulldown menu. Wireless works well, including WiFi which also does same-SSID AP handoffs as needed without dropping streaming audio/video. The double-chop flashlight and double-twist camera activate are actually quite useful. Camera functions and takes great photos IMO, but I'm not picky about that. Have not tried the selfie cam, taping that over was the second thing I did to this phone (first was unlocking bootloader).
If it already had T-Mobile LTE Band 12 and VoLTE it would be 5 star in my opinion, as it is I give it 4.5/5. Looking forward to band 12 as promised by Moto.
Customer service is abysmal, but that is the norm in 2015.
There's no other phone i'd rather have right now
I got this phone via MotoMaker and did not have defects or issues with the build of the phone. MXP does very well in poor signal areas on VZ and rarely drops calls (unlike the LG G3 which dropped calls all the time). The screen is excellent outdoors on sunny days, I love the two front speakers, and had no problems with the headphone jack. The camera is the only disappointment: it's better than I thought but still not as good as the G3.
Overall, I'm very happy with the MXP.
Honestly it's a great phone. I have two gripes one minor and one major. No band 12 support OOTB and my major gripe is the moto x would've benefitted greatly from an adreno 420 or adreno 430. The cpu is fine but a lot of stuff and battery probably would've benefitted from more GPU power.
It is time for a new phone, my Moto X Style (Pure) on T-Mobile is getting a bit long in the tooth.
1) storage is only 16GB so even with the few apps I use, I have to clear cache to update apps (photos, videos, etc all goto the SD Card)
2) signal is crap at times and call quality suffers
3) Lenorola is starting to slack on Android update time frames, they use to be quick with the last two Moto X and now they are getting behind (even with security updates)
I am on T-Mobile and I mainly do alot of audio (BT), some pictures and video, and the rest is just FB, Email, Text, Web Browsing
My choices are to go with the V20 and root it to get a few apps that I need
or wait and order a Pixel XL (128GB) and ride the google update train again.
I was faced with the same decision.. 16GB is just a non-starter for me, and I couldn't wait for the 128GB version to become available. Also Google's hardware didn't completely impress me.. I picked up the V20 coming from the Note 7.. honestly my plan is to run with it until the Note 8 comes out more than likely. I think the Google phone will have a longer lifespan and obviously quicker updates.. but I needed a phone and couldn't wait for the 128GB version to come out. Also the price difference was pretty significant compared the Verizon's price on the V20.. so that was a factor as well.
Overall the V20 didn't 'wow' me like the Note 7 did.. but its still a very good phone and for the $650 or so I got it for I am happy.. I don't think the Pixel XL would have wowed me either to be honest after having the Note 7 though.
The last LG phone I had was the G4 and that was a bit of a let down.
Since I am on T-Mobile coming from a Moto X Pure (3rd Gen) I won't get any trade in value at all (keeping it as a backup)
It is $30 a month for the V20 on T-Mobile, or I buy the Pixel XL and get $325 in credit over 24 months which will take away some of the hit over time for the Pixel XL
I am leaning to the V20 right now, especially because of how on top of updates LG has appeared to become. I just hate the bloat, hopefully there are good fixes for that or someone later releasing a cleaned up stock rom
I was faced with the same problem
Pick the Pixel for:
- better camera (especially video stabilization)
- fast updates and longer lifespan
- better one-handed usage
- fluid software experience
- looks (subjective I know, but I kinda like it and it has no camera hump)
Lg v20 for:
- removable battery
- better sound experience
- military grade drop protection
- manual camera mode if that's your thing
- expandable storage
- second screen is useful sometimes
I obviously went with the v20. Unlocked bootloader on T-Mobile and root on it fixes some software problems. Although I wouldn't complain if I had went with the Pixel either
I'm currently facing the EXACT dilemma.
After reading your comments, I think I might pick up the T-mobile version of the V20 instead.
Since we still do not have an official V20 root for the Canadian model.
Looks like I am leaning to the V20 as well. Mainly for the camera, screen, audio.
Even if we get a stock cleaned up ROM later then it would be perfectly fine.
Not sure about your options in your part of the world, but here in New Zealand the pixel XL is $1400 while i bought the V20 for $900. So yea, no explanation needed
Pixel is a ugly ass phone.

Sent from my LG-H918 using XDA-Developers mobile app
I came from the nexus 6P which I loved to this phone and to honest I love the battery life and everything it has to offer so far. Up in Canada they are offering the B&O H3 headphones plus 200 off which was 799 for the whole package which is a wicked deal
I have the Tmo V20 and I didn't feel like there was much bloat...well compared to AT&T's devices. Coming from the N7 my only gripe is the low light pictures come out gainier than the N7. I hated the edge screen on the N7 but I really dig the second screen on the V20. The screen isn't as saturated as an AMOLED screen, but in everyday use I don't notice it. Done call the V20 ugly, but I honestly love the looks. Of course most people throw a case on their device, so does that even matter?

If you listen to BT audio a lot stop hesitating and go get the LGv20 and grab a pair of BT headphones with Aptx support (lgv20 one of only a couple phones that support it.) I have these and they are awesome.
https://www.amazon.com/Monster-SuperSlim-Bluetooth-Wireless-Headphones/dp/B015EGRK9S
Honestly paying that much for a mere 128 gb is outrageous. For $400-500 like the old Nexus phones... sure I might be convinced to give up the extensive list of V20 features some of which were not even present in the Note 7. I see the Pixel XL like the Android version of the IPhone 7's business model: add a camera that's nice but doesn't blow the others out of the water anymore, give it a short shelf life with limited storage and non-removable battery (so that you MUST upgrade after 12 months), put a lot of emphasis on zippy when the competition are pretty zippy already. Overall a pretty meh exterior design like the V20 and Iphone7. The Note is prettier but that finger print magnet back is a chore and I had enough of TouchWiz lagging down the experience compares to the V20.
I have a YouTube Red account. With a 250 GB Samsung micro SD ($70 eBay) and 64 GB on board I have so much content I don't know what do with.
I picked up two new TVs on black Friday. I use the V20 IR blaster with both. Same for the Kinivo HDMI splitter, no more fumbling with that little easy to lose clicker.
The V20 has Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, which the others don't have, is like one of the best V20 features. I use a 3.0 Anker PowerCore+ 10k mAh power bank ($40 Amazon) with an iOrange-E type C cable and the V20 absolutely flies from 40%-80%.
The second screen is probably the most useful feature I can switch to different songs on Amazon music app, use it as the zoom wheel in video recording, allows for more fluid app switching than interrupting the main screen just to use the multitasking soft button. And the quad DAC actually drives my V-Moda M100s. I wanted to test this against the Note 7 but the Fire Department said no can do homey. And rumor is no more headphone jack on new Samsungs. You'll have to spend $300 on Bluetooth Bose headphones with as good a sound as upper mid tier wired cans.
Honestly...even if V20, Note 7, iphone 7 and Pixel XL were all priced the same it would be a no brainer for me as far as useful features I rely on every day.
For me, it was a price per gb difference, and a looks thing. I came off an S6 Edge, and for me, the Pixel looks like an iPhone minus the home button. Yeah, it's on 7.1, and will get updates sooner (but I'm on Verizon so it's bound to be slower no matter which one). The smaller capacity model would never work for me, I download too many movies and stuff for that. My Edge was 64 and that was a decent balance between saving until I downloaded it off to the computer. Plus I get the expansion slot for more just because you never know. Could care less about the removable battery, but to some it's a plus. The camera seems to be subjective on video reviews, between people that prefer one over the other. I use a DSLR for anything important, so it's not a deal-breaker for me, and it takes pictures just fine for my eyes anyway. I didn't buy it as a camera, I bought it as a phone. And I know the LG G2 I had was rooted pretty quickly if memory serves, and just browsing seems like we've got a good group tackling that now (missed that on my S6). So in the end, the cost savings, and the aesthetics won me over between the two, with everything else basically being a wash either way. Plus, coming from the other phone, every time a gal looks at it, they always seem to say "Wow that's big". Simple pleasures, but it never gets old
By the way, NetFlix now has downloads. As does Amazon video and YouTube Red. I see no win with a phone that kills micro SD.
I bought V20. And I love myself for that decision.

Believe it or not I returned the S8 and got mine. I'm freakin stoked by what LG has to offer. This my 1st non samsung phone and its rooted.
I ended up selling my V20 it was glitch fest everywhere even after several factory resets and the batter drain was bad.....I do miss the extra camera and the DAC but outside of that I love the S8+. This is my first Samsung phone since the note 3.

I am kind of on the same page. I jumped on the v20 from a note 4. My note 4 had less bugs, better battery life, and a better screen. "Auto" picture quality was much better on the note.
Things i will miss about the V20/Pros
~ Full manual camera controls and the wide angle lens
~ DAC
~ Second display
~ Build Quality
~ Removable Battery
***Biggest complaint by far is Battery life.. From my Pokemon Go experience specifically, my Girlfriend has a iPhone 6s. My note 4 battery life was better than hers. My V20 is literally half that of hers now. Same apps installed across both phones. Phone gets HOT.
I am in the US so everything I say is in US dollars, US versions, etc.
I purchased the Motorola X Pure as soon as it came out and was happy with it but lately it has had a lot of issues particularly with GPS. It works fine 90% of the time but that 10% of the time it says "Searching for GPS" while navigating and have caused me lots of problems with missing turns, etc while traveling out of town. Also it is very laggy switching between apps and even just surfing the web. I don't really play games...my average day of use consists of using Chrome to surf the web, using Google Maps for navigation (I use it even when I know where I am going because it notifies of traffic and accidents and advises the best route considering those), and watch videos on YouTube, Netflix, or Hulu. I also take a lot of pictures but not every day but a lot...anybody out there with kids knows you take way more pictures than you need, lol.
Since it was a mid-level phone at release and is a couple years old now I have been looking to replace it. My first thought was the Moto G5 Plus since I have Amazon Prime and can get the higher end model for only $240.
Is there a better phone available (based on my needs mentioned above) under $300? What about under $400? I can MAYBE stretch my budget to $400 but no more and that has to include tax, etc.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I picked up this phone today and only gripe so far coming from the S7 Edge is camera is pretty bad... Not sure if it's enough to push me back to S7 but I'm definitely considering it. Besides the camera I'm not sure what else you'd possibly want at this price point.

Moto z play are about $300 on Swappa. Much better battery life, mod compatible, more premium feeling, bigger AMOLED screen, quite a few ROMs, etc. I love my Z Play!
Rather have the Moto g5 over play. The mods are imho worthless. With mods you might as well spend the money on a s8 or s7
Looks like the ASUS Zenfone 3 is about the same price as the Moto G5 Plus, how do those compare?

My guess is that the AMOLED and bigger battery of Z Play makes the SOT somewhat better. Just because the mods are worthless doesn't mean the device is worse, or that you are committed to buy some mod. Probably one should decide if you prefer 5.2 or 5.5 inch display, and find out if you need dual SIM or longer lasting battery is more important. Also I like the USB-C-plug that you can't put in the wrong way - you know USB is the only plug where you have only two directions, but always need three tries until you get it right
For someone who had a X Pure I'm quite sure Touchwiz is a no-go (for me it is, since I had a Galaxy S3 I won't buy a Samsung anymore), so S7 or S8 are pointless.
Buy oneplus 3t
This is the biggest of an Android phone I'm willing to get. I am eyeing the Xperia X Compact because I want a small phone. If This had NFC for the US version I would have bought it right away, since it doesn't I will have to pass.

I wouldn't use Asus even if I was stranded on top of Mt. Everest! Zf2 burn me with them cause they never update their phones! Zf3 still on 6.0, so is the zf2. So much bloat you can't uninstall with them. Only plus is I think the top of the line zf3 has the 820? Also if you care about ROMs, then I don't think the zf3 has a lot of that going on now. I have a strong feeling the g5 will be packed with roms in no time

I like the OnePlus 3T...but my budget is $300 (can bend enough to be $300 plus tax, shipping, etc but not more than that)
What would be your recommendation within that range? Is there a better phone within that range than the G5 Plus?
Also, I am really only interested in phones with warranty so I don't want to buy a used one on swappa, etc.
Thanks for all the feedback!

I would suggest you to go for it buddy. You'll definitely not gonna mind anything. I don't see any other phone in this price range better than this. Development will be as good as previous generation I think. So I think you should go for it.

I'm very impressed with the g5 plus 64gb version. I had a op3, note 5, s7, s7edge. The features on this make it as good or better than those flagships. Camera and LCD vs amoled are the only drawbacks. Love Moto display and all the gestures, plus killer feature for me is gesture navigation on fingerprint reader, is the bomb! Battery life is stellar!

I had three ZF2s. Phantom touch, 1/3 of the screen went black, and then random hangs in a year and a half.
The first two were under warranty, requiring me to send the phone in, which took like a week and a half.
Total crap.
This phone has been voted best budget phone for the money on many different sites. I guess that could change every month a new phone is released though
I need to get a new phone since my lg G4 died... I find that the OS on Motorola is way better and I have had Samsungs and LG.
I will recommend it, besides any cel will eventually die. So imho I will no longer spend tons of useless money just to be fancy with the mobile phone.

I took advantage of the free $15 offer when you buy a $75 gift card to help pay for my Moto G5 Plus 64GB from Amazon.com (I mention this since you are in the USA). I also got 5% off by using the Amazon.com credit card (5% back in Amazon.com "points"), and, I had about $112 in "gift card" credit. I figured since I had made my OnePlus One last for more than three years, and I was able to talk customer service into giving me $12 off the $299 price, I couldn't say no to getting a new phone any longer. I might prefer a 5.5" screen over 5.2" but I'm not sure, I figured it'd be nice to try, see how it feels to have a slightly smaller phone in my pocket, and, maybe ever so slightly easier to use it one handed? I find that I often use my phone one-handed and I can't quite reach sometimes.
On the plus side, I'm really excited about the lower megapixel camera with it's fairly large sensor and wide aperture lens at F/1.7 - I know some people have complained about the camera on this phone, but I expect to get great results regardless - I don't know why it's not working well for them?
The only thing that really upsets me about the Moto G5 Plus is the Micro USB charging port instead of the new standard USB C port. I may have to see about doing some kind of wireless charging mod to my phone because I'm really getting tired of Micro USB.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't understand why I see a few users saying the camera is bad - website reviews are liking the camera, and, it is the same chip as the "high end" Galaxy S7 cameras. Is the camera APP really that bad? Hopefully any issues will be addressed by either A) update or B) 3rd party camera APP/tweaks/mods.

Moto z play are about $300 on Swappa. Much better battery life, mod compatible, more premium feeling, bigger AMOLED screen, quite a few ROMs, etc. I love my Z Play!

Actually, what I've red from people that have had the Z and now moved to the G5 Plus is that the G5 Plus has better battery life, presumably because the newer 625 CPU is more efficient.

What do you think which chipset is being used in the Moto Z Play?
(Hint: Same!)
Think you are talking about Moto Z, not Moto Z Play.
I am currently using a sprint LG G4 which unfortunately I can't root because of the revision that came preloaded on the warranty replacement of my original that had some sort of bootloop defect that I guess never got a recall. But that's a story best left for another time. Suffice to say that since getting the replacement I have not been completely happy with the G4 any more and get increasingly frustrated with it. Should I replace it with a V20 (price $552 [24 monthly payments of $23)? I mainly play games like simpsons tapped out, avenger's academy, and a few similar games. The rest is your typical productivity use and web browsing. Thanks for any feedback.
so no interest for music whatsover?
in that case, I would say no, you should choose a different phone, depending on your budget, say a samsung s8 if your budget doesn't have a roof, or a g6 if you like Lg... or anything of the kind.
the v20 is a mean beast, I love it, but if you don't care for its hifi dac capabilities, why bother?? you get a sd820 SoC, which is the same you had on the Lg G5... If gaming and browsing is all you do, pick something else.
s8 if you want a sleek device with top tier features, or g6 which you could probably have for the same 550 usd you're willing to spend on the v20. g6's screen is technically improved (ratio is different, so that's something you need to consider), soc is slightly better and more efficient, looks better, better grip, no camera bump.
otherwise if the lack of b20 isn't an issue... mi6 its performance/price ratio is awesome!
bottom line: I'm into music, a lot, and I enjoy the big screen for netflix 1080p, so that's why I love my v20, it was the only possible choice I had. if you don't care about music, I think you'd be better off with some other device
You shouldn't get LG V20 because i don't think LG care about LG V20s software update anymore. So please don't get it. All the other phones are getting Android 7.1.2 we are still stuck in 7.0 .

ehm... just so you know, LG never cared about x.x1 and x.1 updates, so no, 99% we won't see 7.1.2 coming to our phones. but they usually grant 2 major updates, so android O and P should be the ones to keep an eye out for.
The V20 is a great phone and I do not regret picking this phone once the N7 debacle happened. That being said, if music is not a big focus for you, then the world is your oyster. My apprehension for you getting the v20 now is the cost ($23 for 24mos) and the standstill of development. There is not a lot of development for any LG device, but being this is becoming an "older" device, we will start seeing Devs dropping off to work on new projects for new devices. If you want LG, the G6 is a great phone and is $10 less a month on Sprint. Otherwise, the S8 is a hell of a phone for about the same price as the G6.

Yes you should. Lots of folks have gripes (maybe legitimate) but overall the V20 is the fastest and best phone i've ever owned. It's still right up there will phones just coming out. And for audio there's nothing like it. Put Viper on it and you're experiencing music the way it was meant to be.

add ons:
Metal Design (with removable back cover) (military grade protection)
Expandable Storage
Camera (wide angle fun option)
Knock wake / sleep
Removable app drawer
Launcher themes
Fingerprint Scanner (wakes device without pressing)
Android N out of box.
I agree with this list.. I did a ton of research to find a phone that had all the features I wanted... and this one fit almost every bill. I do wish Battery life was a little better.. but QuickCharge is amazing and i could always buy an extra battery to swap in at any time.
Coming from a g4? Absolutely the phone is a beast compared to the g4. The 808 processor is a piece of crap in terms of both performance and thermal.
I would pick the LG v20 if these features are the most important:
- removable battery
- secondary screen
- high quality audio
- want a highly customizable camera experience (lots of options to get that perfect photo)
Yes the processor isn't the fastest of the ones currently available but unless you have both processors in action in front of you you won't notice the difference between them in day to day operations.
The LG v20 is probably going to be the last of the removable battery phones if the preview of the v30 is any indication.

Yeah, $400 to $425 with some looking should get you a new V20.

I should add that root is a must given my experience with the G4. The longer development support of roms for whatever device I get the better. Ideally I would only upgrade to a new device about every 5 years. If they could be upgraded internally like PCs can I could get 7-8 years out of them before needing a complete replacement. Also I can't stand laggy software. Currently my experience with the G4 is that several games I play I have to open the recently used apps thing and click clear all so that it doesn't feel like I'm running them on below minimum system requirements. Sometimes it is so bad it's like I'm running the CPU at 200MHz instead of the 1.8GHz.

Budget is flexible. Especially if I can root and there is a lasting development base for updated roms supporting whatever device I get. If this were the case for me with the G4 I'd not even be considering replacement this soon after purchase. But I've not been able to root the G4 because it came preloaded with a not rootable version.

Oh wow the way sprint is advertising this it's like it was just released. Given this info I for sure am going to look at my options including shopping for a lower price if I decide to get the v20.

To date I have had samsung devices. The G4 was my first LG device. The reasoning behind getting it rather than another samsung was it looked like samsung was pulling an apple and doing minor hardware bumps and charging a fortune for them compared to the going price of the previous model. My main objection to getting a G6 is that I'm trading off certain things: removable battery, camera quality, sensors, for only CPU GPU and RAM bumps. All in all if I'm going to upgrade I need the new device to improve upon most everything related to how I use it. I don't take a lot of pictures but enough that a dependable well featured camera be in the device.
