I keep getting told by support that the latest build is NMl64c. I still have not got it. * Edit- It's Out!
Didn't even know there was a new build yet. Assume it contains Sept security patches at a minimum? I've checked for updates today and haven't gotten anything... but maybe the new phones are shipping with this update already?
Nothing here yet, but I'm keeping fingers crossed. I'm really beginning to like this phone, shortcomings and all. When I pick up my Pixel XL now, it feels like a boat compared to the PH-1. I'm hoping that updates will help put this phone in the upper echelon.
I've had one PH-1 since Friday of last week and no update... Received another this morning and it's on the same build... So new phones aren't shipping with it I'd say
If only the camera wasn't so terrible... It'd be a perfect phone then... Imho

according to support, it has camera fix. She said it was pushed over the weekend, but I think she's mistaken.
Just checked, nada..

After checking my phone just now, no available updates. Hope they post a changelog...

Hi there,
Thank you for reaching out. Lets start with making sure you have the latest build. Please check if there are available updates as a new build became available (NMI64C) over the weekend.
Now where have we heard that "over the weekend" line before?

I put my Nexus 6P with all the accessories up on Swappa Monday.
It sold yesterday and I shipped it.
I guess I'm keeping the PH-1 as I now have no other phone.
I picked up some ABS this morning and plan to construct a custom case.
Since I can't buy one, I'll make one.
Still no sign of an update here.

Weird, i don't need root to extract folders from zip to sdcard, or internal storage. Also the adb pull should work anyways

I don't own essential, that is why i need someone to pull me some files from it. I mean, when i go unrooted on my htc m9 - both the fx file explorer & adb pull works for /system dumping (some folders might be not extractable with file explorer, but adb works pretty fine)

So I got a notification in the bar stating "Connecting to DM server". About 30 min later, another message stating "Update Available". Well, my battery is about 25%, so it postponed the update. Good thing though, it says to click the "Software Update" in the System Settings when the battery is charged.
See screenshots below.

My friend has the same issue. So I'm charging it for him. Going to run a log on his phone once we can upgrade it and see if we can get some nice information like a URL and such.

I love how it says Congradulations! like you just won the update lottery.
So where would this update file be located? I have Dalvik Debug Monitor running. The only folder that has a change date of today is the "Data" folder. I cannot access anything in it though.
I haven't installed the update yet, if someone tell me the steps to get the files you need, i could help out
If you're rooted -- you should be able to look in /cache for a file named update.zip.

I can not find the update.zip file. The only thing I see is a downloadfile.apk in there. I think it downloaded this file first, then restarted the phone into an installation mode. Well there it did the rest as in downloading the zip file. When going back trying to find it, it is gone. Not sure what else to do. I uploaded to files of the log if there is any smarter people than me that can interpret it.

Not advised for official ROMs, for custom you can flash it anyway you like. Though I think using CWM and flashing this should work... You end up with CWM recovery and an unrooted ROM. Correct me if I'm wrong...

Easier install method if you don't like fiddling around with the power button:
1) Make a folder called ASUS/Update from the root of your microSD card
2) Drop the .zip in there, rename to 'US_epad-user-8.4.4.5.zip' (not sure if the renaming is totally necessary)
3) If you're doing this on the Transformer itself, eject and remount the SD card. If on your PC, just plug the card in.
4) Click the update notification, it'll start the updater on it's own.

The problem with that is that is that it downloads the OTA to cache, and removes it when the install reboots. I found a thread for another phone that doesnt make much sense, seeing as how rooted phones don't get OTA's pushed to them... anyways its over here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1041572

There is a better way which is to get the download link from logcat directly to googles server. That way everyone else can download it from the "legit" host rather than take your chance with 3rd party file hosts and potential for corrupt files. Yes you can use md5 to verify, but getting the zip straight from the source is best.
To the op, this info is not a secret, do some searches, it has been posted numerous times for each of the prior ota's of this phone and many others.

Hello Folks!
This is my first contribution to the G5 Forum
! ADOPTABLE STORAGE !
You can simply enable it on the build.prop. Search for:
Code:
ro.lge.adoptable_storage=false
And change it to:
Code:
ro.lge.adoptable_storage=true
Reboot Your G5 and go in-to the Settings
Choose Storage and USB
Click on Your SD Card
Format as Internal Storage
Follow the Instructions and You're done!
Simple, or not!? I found it while playing with the build.prop.
More is coming soon! Join my Community to stay Informed

If anyone can push better/english Screenshots... Please provide it! Thanks!
Are you guy serious ?
Enabling adoptable storage is that simple ?
I'll give it a try when back at home, but with only 32Gb of internal, that's a good news !
This is the method with root I imagine... Also maybe update the first post to include a way without root? I saw some methods in other sites and posts. But not sure if it would work for the G5

You're right... Don't know what the Problem is. I think it's just a matter of time to get it work. I don't want to do any Experiments before we have access to a Stock Firmware Restore. Bricked my G5 3 times Now. I'm just happy that everything works again... Can't live without this Awesome Device x)
Cleanmaster i.e. doesnt recognize the correct size. It simply ignores the adopted size.
With sdcard used as portable it does show the correct size. Somewhere i read that adopting can actually make a phone slower because it doesnt use the internal fast storage anymore or maybe i misunderstood this...... Looks like this option might not coming that handy as generally thought.
My computer doesn't show the sdcard volume when the phone is plugged.
I think this don't actually work. Just show it on phone screen, but that's all.
And the S7 methos seems to work (even without root) on the G5. I'll give it a try.

Hey guys so last time I used it a few months ago this was how I got Samsung Gear VR working on my LG V20 rom. For those DEVs that would like to add this feature I thought we could all work together to get this on every device that is running 1440p screen just for quality reasons.
This is for devs only not a flash able zip.
Extract the contents and just copy and paste the info in the build prop.

Possible to slim it down (Apps)? To include 174Mb in the System is a bit much for that few Users who'd own a Gear VR. Maybe I'll be better if You provide it as flashable Zip. If You need help with that i could be Your Man!
BR and cool stuff btw!
De-odexing could be also a good Step besides pulling it from the System Image instead of dumping it from a running System. But just a suggestion....
Im about to compress those apps to see how much i can save but i need to finish installing a new os. If you want to make a zipable you can ill post it up and can givw u access to the google drive.
I know this is probably a stupid question, but I'll ask anyway:
Where do you copy the contents of the app-private folder
Are there any other instructions? I remember I had to get this to work on a rooted samsung and I thought there was suppose to be some service running for the gear vr software to kick off when the device is connected.

I will make a lovely flashable AROMA based ZIP this Weekend. I can also improve the Size a bit by using my optimized Compression methods. Think the Size isn't that important as standalone ZIP, but some Users have slow connections and bad Data Plans...
I don't own the Gear VR but things like that have to be supported! It's a step in the right direction (Android shouldn't be used to include OEM exclusive Features dear Samsung! Share them!)
BR
So I understand you copy it to app-private in data, but that doesnt give you the software. Does anyone. Have a zip with the required apks needed to actually launch the vr setup wizard?

200MB is not that much gain when most roms will have 500MB+ removed and the system portion would be un changed so free space would be sitting there to be taken up.

Oh so this has to be done before you even flash your phone, you can't add Gear VR functionality after your phone has already been flashed. Sorry I misunderstood.
It would be cool if this was a separate package that could be added to an existing phone with root access.
My way was just how to add ot to a none flashed rom if you throw these files in your system clear cache is should work also if you set the permissions correct

Would you still copy it to app-private in that situation? I tried that and it wiped the folders from the app-private, but did not install any of the applications.
Nougat 7.0 lg v20 sprint. Maybe I am better off installing your rom which will just have it working???
this is great news been trying to get this working on my S7 active ! tried boot.prop changes but no different
as its just software stopping it working, as hardware is pretty much identical ..
did try from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/mobile-vr/gear-vr/port-gear-vr-software-to-android-device-t3540402
but couldnt get it to copy properly, so wouldnt work ..
once rooted, is it just a case of coping over, can this be done via say ES.Explorer ? ..
does this then enable the auto detection when pluging in ? and the touch pad and buttons too ? ..
This looks super interesting. I've got a V20 running AOSP & I'm going to play around with it after work
Sent from my ls997 using XDA Labs

If you just copy and paste the folders inside the priv app folder think there's like 7 it will be just fine if you copy the priv app folder it might not merge and just replace. I had to factory reset for the apps to get all the correct permissions not sure why.
