Hey there. So today I found out that on S7 is FRP (Factory Reset Protection). My phone is ok, I am just asking.
Can it be removed by flashing clean FW via Odin?
Thanks for any response.
Hey Kubas, to answer your question...yes flash new firmware via Odin.

As far as I am aware, it won't be removed. In Odin it will fail the flashing process. I know this from the Galaxy Note 3 where if FRP/activation lock is active, it won't be able to do anything in Odin. Will be a straight 'FAIL'.
I'm sure the same applies to new Samsung models too

Well last week I was un-checking stuff in Dev Mode, I and accidentally hit oem unlock then rebooted my phone (as I had installed a new rom), then all I got was the FRP message, so I reflashed stock firmware and it worked for me...albeit VERY slowly, then had to re-root my phone etc.
Hugo.
BTW...if you haven't backed up your phone, you'll have to start the whole process of setting up your phone as if it were brand new, I on the other hand had backed up my phone so I was lucky, but I do know of people who haven't.

Hi :cyclops:
i've got a little big problem with my brand new N9005.
Immediately when o got it i tried to overwrite operator stock FW (N9005XXUBMJ1) filled with junk with clean FW (N9005XXUBMJ3) via Odin.
Unfortunately upgrade got stuck right before the end. I forgot to write down the initial error msg i got with Odin, but after trying Emergency FW recovery and all other options on Kies, that weren't successful, all i got was
SW REV CHECK FAIL: [aboot]Fused 2 > Binary 1.
Reactivation lock was active - i forgot to deactivate it - so i guess this could be the culprit of all the trouble.
Is there any option or way to sort thing out?
Phone was not rooted, nor was ever even tried to. I only used original Samsung FW.

You should turn off Reactivation lock option in Security settings within the phone... You can see it even from DL screen that it is on.

How? OS doesn't boot!
Sorry, I wanted to delet my post earlier but I guess I didn't... I actually don't know how to do it.
this isnt a soft brick, its a hard brick.. with reactivation lock on you cant flash anything in odin and with no OS you cant turn it off... i guess you could try doing a factory reset in stock recovery to see if it helps, but i doubt it.. the only solution i see is doing a warranty exchange
I was hoping for softbrick, but i guess it was too much of a wish? =S
So, it's hardbrick. I took the phone to the official service and they apparently will fix it. After a little bit of persuasion and begging from my side.
I hope everything will turn out well. I'll report back how&why.

Even with reactivation enabled in settings you can always flash the same base stock firmware via odin... it did work on my N9005
Next time do a little research before saying it is a hard brick... hard brick the phone doesn't even turn on...

Not if the failed flash installed the new bootloaders... You will get bootloops running older firmware on the new bootloaders, so in essence it is a hard brick as it is unrecoverable...

Hard brick = phone doesn't even turn on! Get that in your mind!
This is a soft brick! And again your argument is wrong... yesterday i was in a bootloop and flashed the latest stock firmware on my N9005 and i fixed it (MJ7) so... SOFT BRICK!
And again, with reactivation activated, i fixed it via odin... :silly:
need urgent help really.
my phone has been rooted and has twrp installed for months now with no issues, all of a sudden my phone rebooted to the samsung logo screen with the mentioned error message. i have no idea how and why this error has occured but my phone wont boot to system. i really dont want flash stock firmware as i havent backed things up, is there a way to fix this issue with out doing a full wipe?
you might have accidentally disable oem unlock. so phone is bricked , and you need to flash stock firmware with odin , no other choices . and as you know knox counter will stay 0x1 , root or no root, once you break knox its permanent as knox is hardware, once you root it break an electronic fuse so once you flash stock firmware I really suggest you to install custom rom and twrp again as many things will be blocked if you stay on stock firmware as your device will stay marked as " rooted "

Yeah I had to do firmware install in the end. It's just crazy though. I very rarely go into dev options, I had noto kernel installed and everything on stock aqh3, rooted with magisk and everything worked great, so annoying as this happened at 3am and I have slow internet connection and took me 2 hours to download the 3.5gb firmware file. Urgh o was on the verge of installing a custom rom too, ah well good job I had a lot of stuff saved in Samsung cloud.

I got the "FRP lock" on my Samsung S8 (Exynos) and tried to flash Stock Oreo but Odin fails and the device shows "KERNEL REV. CHECK FAIL. DEVICE:3 BINARY:2".
This stock Samsung Rom worked earlier today so it should be the right Rom for my phone.
Also tried to flash TWRP recovery via AP in Odin which failed with "RFP lock" message showing on the device..
I tried to add a snapshot here but couldn't.

Your issue is trying to flash older firmware than what is on your phone. You will need to download firmware with bootloader ver. 3 or higher ( bl ver no. is 5th number from right of firmware name )
Flashing twrp failed because of locked bootloader.

Im pretty new to the whole flashing thing. I got a S7 from a friend with a frp lock on and am trying to unlock it. from what ive read is that you need to reflash firmware on to the phone using odin. my question is that it keeps failing due to <aboot> fused binary 8 or something like that. i believe that it meant that i did not have the right firmware.

Have your fiend log in to their Google account on your phone then remove their Google account
So long story short I was intoxicated and for some reason disabled OEM in debugging then sometime later I restarted my tablet to get the frp binary locked. It has a custom rom with twrp I absolutely need the data off of this tablet and the only way I see is to reinstall the default os through Odin but that wipes the device I need a method to get the data off of the tablet or a method to bypass frp entirely it would be mighty appreciated if I could have some help
Why don't you try a backup in TWRP?
Reinstalling the stock firmware with Odin won't wipe the device.

It's difficult to say if you can keep your data. The binary FRP lock is quite different that the average FRP lock that's associated with the Google sign in. Usually whenever you trip the binary lock it's because some firmware was installed such as a Root or a ROM that was flawed or invalid. It's an overstacking of binaries and therefore you get a "Custom Binaries Blocked by FRP Lock" notification. I've had this problem on another varient of the Tab A, the Galaxy Tab A6 SM-T580. I have found about four diferent variations of this. You may not have turned off OEM because in Binary lock it will act like you have. Possible reason to think that is the way it acts in Download Mode where you can't seem to flash anything especially the official firmware. Sound familiar?
Version 1. If you try to go to Recovery you get redirected to a screen similar to the Download Mode. In the upper left are red lettered "Custom Binaries Blocked by FRP Lock.. Download Mode is accessable but won't initialize when trying to flash stock firmware. Binary 4 FRP Unlock file was accepted and flashed in by Odin3. Stock firmware installs afterwards.
Version 2. Device is stuck in bootloop. "Custom Binaries Blocked by FRP Lock" appears on Logo screen. Recovery and Download Modes are so far, useless. Binary 4 FRP Unlock used, no positive results. Binary U 4 used. Positive result. Stock firmware flashed in afterwards.
Version 3. "Custom Binaries Blocked by FRP Lock" appears on Download Mode which either stalls right after or fails to initialize. Binary 4 FRP Unlock and Binary U 4 yeild no positive results. (This ones on it's way to me).
Version 4. "Custom Binaries Blocked by FRP Lock appears on Recovery Mode. Download Mode useless. I'm currently following this one.
Solution: I don't know if the one I have will work, they may be device specific. Research for a "SM-T280 Binary 4 FRP Unlock" which I couldn't yet find.

Nothing needs to be done except install the stock firmware.
The device hasn't been reset so no need for any kind of bypass.
FRP has kicked in purely because unsigned software is installed.
Replace the unsigned software with stock and it'll boot just fine. Data fully intact.

I hate to argue with you but that wasn't so easy with mine. While in Binary FRP lock I, along with a few others that have the SM-T580 or the SM-T585 couldn't use Download Mode to flash in the official stock firmware. Trial and error followed. The solve was first I had to flash in the Binary FRP Unlock and then I could flash in the firmware. With another device the owner tried the Binary Frp Unlock which didn't fix it. Later he flashed in the U4 Binary and that worked for him. I passed the info along to some others in the same predicament and it helped them. So I don't know what to tell you but what you're stating is not always applicable.

Trust me, I have 3 of these devices. I've bricked them, frp locked them every possible way during development for this device.
The T580 is a different device and may be more difficult to bypass if and only if FRP has kicked in because of a device reset.
However for EVERY Samsung device that has simply had non stock software installed the only fix that's required is to install the stock firmware.
This is the case on all the Samsung devices I own and I have quite a few from lollipop to Pie.

Wow, you're on a roll ain't ya? Hey ASHYX, dont misjudge me because of my stats you see here. Over a decade ago I was stacking ROMs into my HTC-G1. 3 decades ago I was an Electrical Engineer and Sonar Operator in the Navy. Let me tell you point blank, you're mistaken! Normally you would think you can just flash in stock OTA firmware into the device via Odin3 and you get to return to normal. Well that wasn't the solve for this. This was a new one to me also. If you think you're so right on what you say I'll be more than happy to point you in the direction of some XDA visitors, two of which are still Binary FRP locked. You can try telling them what you just told me and they'll probably call you a blooming idiot. No offense but you could try reading it properly which might help.
I said, [QOUTE] " While in Binary FRP lock I, along with a few others that have the SM-T580 or the SM-T585 couldn't use Download Mode to flash in the official stock firmware. [END QOUTE]
Take my word for it, the method you stated was already tried AND DID NOT WORK!
If you want to insist you're all that, here ya go, these people need your expertise in development

That depends on which stock firmware you're using. Typically what you get OTA (over the air) is the same as the 4File Official Stock Firmware. These are the 4 files that go into each section when using Odin3 to flash firmware. BL is for the Bootloader which controls security, start-up and recovery. AP is Android Partitioning, CP is Cellular Processor. Now let's talk about the CSC. file. The 4File contains two CSC files, one is listed as HOME CSC. If you flash the CSC file you will lose your App data. If you flash the HOME CSC you do not lose your App data.

Depends on which custom rom you had installed? If it's stock based on lollipop then you should be fine. If its lineage then it may not boot without a data wipe.

Hello Everyone,
First of all I am a newbie when it comes to Android, so forgive me for asking such a noob question.
So here is the story, my girlfriend's dad passed away few months ago. He used an old Samsung S8, sadly we do not know what the login pattern is or his Google account password (We did try recovery options but to no avail)
As there was no other option, I went ahead and had the phone factory reset, and from what I learned the phone is now FRP locked.
After a reading a few more guides I downloaded a tool called Odin and some 'Stock ROM' and flashed it hoping that would resolve the issue (Oh boy, how wrong I was) and the phone is now stuck on a screen saying "Error occurred while updating the device software, use the emergency recovery function"
My girlfriend just wanted to be able to use it for some time, and now I feel really bad for screwing it up.
Just wondering what my options are and if the phone is salvageable at all?
Hey, are you sure you downloaded the right ROM for this S8? Since there are two models of this phone, each with a different chipset (Exynos / Qualcomm Snapdragon). I feel like this error could come from a bad firmware? Does Odin still see the phone when you connect it to the PC?
Edit: Apparently people solved this problem using Samsung's Smart Switch on PC.
Yes, I think I downloaded the correct one. The phone is from Telstra Australia and so downloaded the ROM from Samfrew that was listed as Telstra, I typed in the model number which is SM-G950F it is this firmware that came up.
Yes when I put the phone into Recovery mode and connect to PC, Odin detects it, but the flash gets stuck halfway. I've loaded the BL, AP, CP and CSC that came within the ZIP file from Samfrew and under options only ticked 'Auto Reboot' and 'F.Reset Time'
Also tried just with the BL and AP but same deal.

I've never had to deal with a Samsung that has a FRP lock, that could just be the reason why the flashing fails, i wouldn't know. I hope you can get the Factory Reset to work :/
Also tried the Smart Switch app but it would recognize the phone. Thank you for looking into this.
You could send a message to this user "makeyourself" : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/i-think-i-screwed-the-pooch-on-this-one.3939572/post-79729654 , he seems aware about the FRP locks / flashing issues.
Good luck with your S8.
@Derbi75 thanks heaps, will message makeyourself now.

From what I know, the error only appears if the phone was interrupted during flashing. Such as, Odin was writing into phone but you probably removed the USB or stuff. The screen you see is actually download mode. It is just renamed. Try plugging in your device when it's on the error screen then re-flash it.
