[Q] SCH-R970

Hi guys,
I have a seemingly simple question... I am in South Africa, a friend in the states sent me a US Cellular Galaxy S4 (SCH-R970)
I have read all over the place to see if this phone can be SIM unlocked to work outside of the USA but I'm not getting any definitive answers.
Some say all S4's have GSM capabilities so there has to be a way to unlock it, others say it is only CDMA making it impossible to work on GSM...
So can someone please give me a straight answer?
Is it possible to SIM unlock a US Cellular Galaxy S4 (SCH-R970) to work OUTSIDE the USA ???

Hi Guys.
First of all, sorry if i am talking about something that has been already asked by someone but i am in a little bit of hurry since i have to tell to a friend from USA that is coming to Europe but he doesnt understand nothing about mobile phones. He wants to buy me a Galaxy note 3 but i dont know if it will work in Portugal. I know that the frequencies are the key, but i dont understand too much to reach any conclusion from what i have searched so far...
i want to put the ebay link but since i am a new user i cannot do it so i will just let the title of the item for you guys to check the phone.
Ebay : New Samsung Galaxy Note 3 III N900a 32GB GSM Unlocked 13.0 MP Cellphone . It will be the first item
Can someone tell me if it will work in Portugal.
Sorry about any inconvenience but i am at work and need to be fast since he will come next week.

The device have to be Carrier-unlocked (legal) and may be used with any GSM carrier that uses a frequency or band that this device supports. A SIM card and service plan must be purchased separately. This device's frequencies can be found in the product Specifications under Cellular Network. Your carrier's available frequencies may be found in the links below.

Joki1981 Thank you very much for your answer i will check this today since he need an answer till the end of the day. One More Question. The "Carrier-Unlocked" isnt the same as "Factory Unlocked" or "GSM Unlocked". I am searching and finding several devices that are Factory unlocked and i dont know if it is the same ( Probably not )

Thanks for the tips. I concluded that i can buy a factory unlocked phone and it will work in europe without any problem right? The only problem i might have is the 4G connection i think. Still afraid of buying a US phone because when it arrives here, anything might go wrong but the price is so much lower than here.....

Hey Everyone,
So I just purchased a second hand S6 Edge international unlocked phone. I am in Ireland and on the Three network.
What I have noticed is that the phone see's 3 different networks for three but none of them are 3G or 4G
If I search for a network on my S5 it will again see 3 networks but they are distinguished by a 3G or 4G after it.
My phone will not connect unless I drop it down to 2G only and I also noticed that under network mode I have the option of LTE/3G/2G (Auto connect) or 3G, 2G
Same menu on the S5 give me LTE/wcdma/GSM ect..
Is there an issue with this phone and it not been compatible on the Irish network?

This is the Edge + forum, you say you have a S6 Edge. Correct? Different device. If that's the case you need to post on the Edge forum.
Fwiw I've tried a lot of SIM cards from different providers without any problems - unlikely to be a hardware fault.

using USA's G935 in Europe. Need help where should I buy it.

I'm new here on this forum. My friend told me, that you can know answer for my question.
I want to take S7 edge in usa, without contract. The biggest problem would be bands of course. In my country are used B3 for lte bands and 900MHz for others (i'm not 100% sure. I'm living in Poland now) Could you help me' where should I buy new S7 edge to use is without any problems in my country?
Before I was using SGH-1337 (s4 at&t) and it cant use lte in poland :good::crying:

G935 usa model have 1/3/7 band and others depending on network provider

there's no possibility to buy s7 edge in usa in branded shops, but that's the only way to get it in usa.

There are different bands, so I'm confused now.. this site shows that good will be phone fron At&t or cricket, another one tells me something different, great. :good:

Ok, problem solved for me. I used page named Frequencycheck (sorry, cannot add url as new user)
Great page, you can choose country, search product and it shows which one is compatible with bands, cellulars in country. Big thumb up for this page :good:

Yeah.. #same This is annoying as.. Wasted hours putting playlists together on Music Player only to have contents get deleted when power off / on.. Read something about being able to make sd card 'adoptable storage' by tweeking developer options.. may give this a try, but it involves formatting the current sd card, so plan to try when i have some time.. Flashing VZ s7e to T-mobile, will everything works?

Hi all,
Been through a few thread but didn't get a definite answer as I would like to flash my VZ s7 edge to be on T-mobile as I don't mind the carrier float wares. I just want it to work as the phone is bought from T-mobile. I know it's possible but does everything work including unlocked the T-mobile LTE band? Wifi calling or VoLTE etc.. I wasn't sure if the software will unlocked the bands or is it restricted to hardware limitation. Would you recommend the U firmware or T-mobile? I am trying to give the phone to my nephew as he's a poor college kid using S3 and he's on T-mobile. TIA.

Yes it works. Just make sure you flash T-Mobile firmware

If you flash the U firmware for the S7 Edge, its modem should have all bands available as well.
You might just have to root it and make some adjustments to the CSC.
