Help help me please - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Everyone,
So I just purchased a second hand S6 Edge international unlocked phone. I am in Ireland and on the Three network.
What I have noticed is that the phone see's 3 different networks for three but none of them are 3G or 4G
If I search for a network on my S5 it will again see 3 networks but they are distinguished by a 3G or 4G after it.
My phone will not connect unless I drop it down to 2G only and I also noticed that under network mode I have the option of LTE/3G/2G (Auto connect) or 3G, 2G
Same menu on the S5 give me LTE/wcdma/GSM ect..
Is there an issue with this phone and it not been compatible on the Irish network?
Hope someone says no

This is the Edge + forum, you say you have a S6 Edge. Correct? Different device. If that's the case you need to post on the Edge forum.
Fwiw I've tried a lot of SIM cards from different providers without any problems - unlikely to be a hardware fault.

[Q] My phone just have Edge, please help

hi guys, i recently buy a HTC my touch 4G during a travel to U.S. when i came back to my country (panama) and try to use a 4G SIM cards from two different companies but it just show edge in the notification bar.
with stock 2.2.1 just edge.
phone rooted and use virtuosity : edge
them i think that would be radio issues, i flash 4 and all have the same result: Edge
flash virtuous unity results: Edge
flash radios again result: Edge
set the network mode to wcdma : edge
I use the search i don't find something useful to fix this issue.
please Help.
removed, misread question
This has NOTHING to do with T-Mobile.
Read my answer in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=952005
Please search better next time. There are enough "stuck on Edge" threads, and one of them is on the front page of the forum. Not quite hard to find.

well that is what i thought. my bad, didnt know there was a thread about it
EDIT: i misread the question...whoops! thought he meant that he is going to the USA from panama, but its the other way around
It has to do with radio frequency T-Mobile uses 1700mhz for 4g depends on what other carrier's use and in which country

It also could be that this is a question and needs to be asked in q&a section. Where are all the moderators?

According to all the information I can find - the only frequencies used for HSPA (3G but some carriers brand it as "4G") in Panama are 850 and 1900. The MyTouch 4G does not have either of those bands. Most T-Mobile phones do not, although a few newer ones do (Amaze, SGSII, Exhibit II).
All 3G/"4G" smartphones from AT&T do have the correct compatible 3G bands for carriers in Panama. So... you should have bought an AT&T phone, not a T-Mobile phone.
Sorry. I guess you'll have to do your research next time. Maybe you can sell it on eBay to someone who lives in Europe, Africa, Asia, Canada, USA, Aruba, Brazil, Uruguay... these are the locations which have networks that are compatible with the MT4G.

RTFQ.
The original poster is using the phone in Panama. Your experience in California is not relevant because the phone is not compatible with Panama's 3G networks.

[Q] Bought the SM-N900 for use in the US, did I mess up?

Basically Ive had the phone for over a month now and the connection issues have been constant. The carrier I use is Straight Talk. I got a new SIM card. Ive tried every APN setting it seems. And I cannot get any help. Did I plainly just mess up and by the wrong version of the phone I needed?

Should have gone for 9005.
When It is on GSM only mode I only get EDGE speed, and when I switch to either WCDMA/GSM or WDCMA only mode, I do get H+ but its not reliable and I frequently end up in emergency calls only mode and am frequently resending messages. What model should I get for the best results with Straight Talk does anyone know?

You need the N900A (AT&T) or the N900T (T-Mobile). GSM Mode means 2.5G (EDGE) only. WCDMA Mode means H+ (3G) only.
You can also try the N9005 if you're into tinkering and whatnot.
Your current phone most likely does not support the recommended 'fast' bands that are on US Carriers.

Do you know which one would be the best one to get? I'm into rooting and flashing Roms, so based on that Im guessing the N9005, but arent there different carrier models of that phone as well /: basically I dont want to make the same mistake
Thanks for you help

N9005 is most used internationally so more devs support this device. But the N900T also works too.
Not the N900A if you care about ROMs.

Okay then I'll pass on the N900A. Are there specific carrier branded N9005s? or are they all the same and unlocked. Sorry for all the questions. Also I barely figured out how to "thank" you >.<-

Yeah there are, and there are specific models of N9005 too with a different partition structure (Hong Kong 16GB)
You're going to have to find an N9005 not from Hong Kong just in case, even though they also sell the international 32gb version as well, and that is already unlocked SIM wise and region wise.
Also, if you come from the states, make sure the bands are supported by your phone. People have bought the n9005 from America to find the LTE bands don't work in Europe..

S7 edge 935FD mobile data issues on t-mobile

I got the S7 edge 935FD on t-mobile , I am running Superman room. I noticed that sometimes having full bars of LTE , my connection is really slow I check it with Speed Test and it is under 0.3 Mb. I installed the recommended Modem and Bootloader, and I also try with different CSCs , like XEF,XSG and XSA. At some places with 2 or 3 bars I got 60Mb with speed test , and in others that my old phone get 18Mb , I got 0.2Mb , and my connection is too slow. I tried also other rooms and I am getting similar results. What I am missing?, Could be my phone?, Is this happening to the S7 international versions in the US?
Thank you
APN Setting is not right?

What band is being used when you connect to LTE?
Dial *#0011# when you're on LTE and click STACK 1 if it's in the first SIM slot, and STACK 2 if it's in the second one.
It'll show you Band information.
Secondly, it could also be because of the carrier aggregation stuff, maybe the Exynos variant of the S7E isn't compatible with T-Mobile's Carrier Aggregated LTE network and hence only uses one band for LTE, which will result in poor speeds for the user.

Poor network on WCDMA

I bought a brand new galaxy s6 edge dual sim-9287 from Hong Kong. I have good network signal on 2G network but the WCDMA/3G. network reception is not good on my 9287 phone while there is good WCDMA network in my old galaxy S4. I am using the phone in Africa.
I have flashed several modems.bin and factory reset but nothing improved.
Any advice is highly appreciated, please.

It's odd that I know the answer to this question from a vastly different device. Back in the early 2000s before modern androids I used to get phones from China. Cdma phones that didn't take sim cards. But used UMTS. This isn't a bootloader/modem issue and that's why you haven't been able to solve it. It's a radio issue. Older phones use radio bands, your devices radio is for the wrong country.

G975F/DS on Tmobile

I just bought this G975F/DS, seems to work just fine, but when I install my Tmobile SIM in the phone it doesn't connect to any networks. Are there settings I need to add/change? Anything?

Check to see which bands are used in your area. If they primarily use band 71 then your SOL because that model doesn't support it.

Probably the access points need to be configured.

When I inserted my T-Mobile SIM in the US unlocked S10+ for some reason the T-Mobile APN settings didn't autopopulate and I had to enter them manually.
Definitely look at your APN settings.
Well, it finally connected to Tmo but the reception isn't very good. My S7 and S5 pick up much better. Not that happy with it

Use an app like Cellular-Z to see what band each device is using. If the S7/S5 is using band 71 then you wont be able to get as good of coverage on the S10 because the international version doesn't support it.

Did you actually check the APN settings on your S10+? If they are incorrect that would account for your poor reception.
It depends on where you live obviously but my phone never uses band 71 which I think is primarily for rural areas.
I've owned multiple unlocked phones that didn't support band 71 and have never had weak reception on T-Mobile anywhere I've gone.
I have the dual sim with T-Mobile and I actually didn't have to do anything. It worked out of the box.

I haven't needed to manually enter APN settings on a phone in at least 5 years and I've owned a bunch of phones but for whatever reason the T-Mobile APN settings did not autopopulate on mine.
I have a single sim Snapdragon model--whether the T-Mobile settings autopopulate correctly might differ depending on the S10+ model and specific firmware the phone is running but it didn't seem like the OP actually checked his APN settings. I initially had a poor network connection because the settings on mine were not correct.
My reception was excellent after I manually entered the correct APN values and rebooted.
F models cannot do the proper Carrier Aggregation that TMO (and maybe ATT) uses to give their highest speeds and best signals.
While the Exynos models will work, if you have a USA based phone in the same spot you will find the speeds are much faster on the USA based phone than the Exy versions.
As of now, there is no way around this, people have been trying for years.
