I have a list of apps I plan on using when I root my first device (OnePlus 5, Android 7.1.1). Please give me your suggestions! Are these good, bad, unnecessary, cool, etc.? Are any of these redundant? Are there any other apps that would be a shame to miss out on? Let me know!
-Greenify
-Oxygen Updater
-Sixaxis Controller
-Titanium Backup
-Flashfire
-Keepass2 USB Keyboard Plugin
-AdAway (for Google Chrome)
-Freedom (for stupid in-game microtransactions)
-Magisk
-Magisk Manager
You have Magisk AND SuperSU listed, they're both for superuser privileges. I would recommend just using Magisk, it will let you hide the root from certain apps, like banking apps, Android Pay, etc. It's also updated very regularly.
You also have Titanium Backup and System App remover, Titanium Backup will do you, it will allow you to remove pre-installed apps. You need to be careful which apps you remove too.
Don't be installing or even mentioning Lucky Patcher either, it's very likely to get you abuse. Buy your apps and support developers.

As we all know when you get a flagship phone (HTC, Samsung, etc..) or even some 'flagship killer' devices they are often full of bloatware applications.
In my instance I have the X500 which my friend got from Gearbest the default ROM was serviceable but when it wouldn't pair to Android Wear watch I hunted down the 5.5.103S Update file and suddenly ALL THE BLOAT!
Lots of LeTV apps and such I couldn't and wouldn't use.
Time for Root.
On 5.0.2 Kingroot works in some cases.
In others (this method I use on all phones and STRONGLY recommend over using Kingroot)
Flash TWRP Recovery and Flash SuperSU
Upon getting root access thanks to Chainfires continued great research I fired up the Play Store (Note: Post update you may need to wipe data and Flash OpenGapps, Pico ARM64 works best) and grabbed System App Remover Root to remove a chunk of apps with LeTV, Baidu or Chinese Lettering in the title name.
(Side note: If like me you want to remove Launcher, Install another such as Nova Launcher and have it set as default)
This helps get rid of the junk, Free up some space and RAM and make the whole system just nicer cause you're getting closer to a localized device.
Bare in mind if you upgrade to the 6.0 Dev Build you will need to do this again.
If you don't wipe Data your apps will survive but TWRP, Root and Xposed will be gone.
Personally after all the tinkering to make this phone usable I want my iPhone back for its ease of use (Jailbroken of course)
Have fun.
Hi,
I am very new to Systemless root and it seems littlebit confusing for me.
I have few problems. I am using Magisk Systemless ROOT on my 1+5 with Android 7.1.1
I already know that because of non-editable /system i can't delete or upgrade system apps. But my bigger problem is for example with F***dom app. I know that warez is not supported here so I am asking only for educational purposes (or whatever). F***dom not working at all. My pay card still showing (Fallout Shelter, Fruit Ninja, etc.). Even L***y Pat***r not work well. I am still getting errors when trying to patch Fallout or any other apps. One of the least problem is with busybox. Why I cant install busybox to /system/bin but to /system/xbin yes?
Is there any way how to make system root work like nornal root? I really want use my old apps. Not just Freedom, but for example Titanium Backup not working too.
Titanium Backup definitely works with systemless root. When you go into the Magisk Manager app does it actually show that you are rooted? When you click on the Safety Net check in Magisk Manager what message do you get?
I am using Magisk systemless root and it works.
So you're probably not rooted at all. And I did not even had to install busybox either.

I am rooted. Safety Net is ok when Hide Root setting is selected in Magisk. Apps normally get root access but as I said some of them not work properly. Busybox throw error when installing to /system/bin
Titanium Backup not recover system apps or data.
And what about freedom?
There's actually a dedicated support thread on XDA for Magisk. Since your issue seems to be very Magisk specific rather than a OP5 issue you would probably have more success posting your question there.
Just a reminder to all. No mentions of lucky patcher or freedom are allowed in the forums as they are warez/malware apps.

That app is also banned on xda as are all Warez apps.
I highly recommend you delete this post and go somewhere else before more aggressive devs start waking up
XDA's tag line is "XDA Developers was founded by developers, for developers. " and you come in here waving your middle finger around saying developers' time and energy is worthless and your deserve it all for fee, and your entitled ass comes here asking for more help exploiting devs.
Help specific to LP, Freedom, and all other exploitive apps is forbidden here. #GoAway
And all that aside, your question has been asked 1000x by legit users. Spending even 10-15 seconds researching the problem would yield a result. #LMGTFY
It's been a while since I've rooted. I do install custom recovery and custom firmware but haven't had a real reason to root as well (mostly because banking apps tend not to work with root, sometimes even if using hide root apps).
My questions is...what do "kids" these days do when having root? You just do it for the sake of it or actually do something that benefits you/your phone?
When googling about what to do after rooting, most links/post are for backup (titanium etc) , ad blockers and some xposed frameworks...but...what else?
Same as you, to give myself a hard time with banking apps
I use root for adblocking, substratum and some stuff with tasker
Substratum, XDA Navigation Gestures (ROOT Mode), ES File explorer for debloating, Viper4Audio (Unbeatable EQ - Main reason), Button Mapper for Bixby button remaps and changed my Emoji fonts to iOS11.
Once you have rooted and seen benefits of it all, it's super hard not to!
I went 4 days thinking I cannot root my S8 as didn't wanna break it but that didn't last at all lmao...
Also, my banking app works as normal under Magisk Hide.

Every phone I had ended up rooted, some from day one and used the root mostly for what you've listed, especially for ad-blocking to edit the host file or using adhell on samsung phone . But, for some reason...didn't see the point to root my S8, and had it for almost 2 years now.
Substratum works on unrooted S8 (al least on Oreo did, haven't check on Pie...dark mode is OK--ish).
Blokada for ad-blocking does the job great without much fuss,.
Bixby remap--I think there is and app for that.
Viper4Audio and any other custom EQ - if you don't have high quality earphones/headphones you don't really see the benefits.
Youtube ads---since youtube vanced appeared ... no more ads.
Debloating-there are some heavy debloated roms around, I think.

I use Adaway too forgot to mention. I have also changed my DNS to 1.1.1.1 with HEBF.
Also, yes there are debloated roms but this method makes it possible for you to debloat the official software without flashing a custom rom (even if it is stock based it's heavily modified)
Bixby Remap is pants compared to button mapper also, it has a lot more features / options for button mapping. (Including vol buttons)
To be fair I forgot to mention I'm using RiCE 13.4 and I even had to debloat that after unticking pretty much everything in the AROMA installer. (SoundAlive, stock launcher had to be replaced / removed)
@xlucian ,
you're absolutely right, there are not many reasons to root our S8. To be honest, it's the first time for me not rooting for such a long time. I've the phone since November 17. Usually I rooted immediately or a few weeks after buying.
But adblocker and theming are working without root and there is no need to change to custom ROM since the original has plenty of nice features, that I would miss with a custom ROM and we getting regularly updates as well, so I don't see a reason too (so far )m.
I have plenty of reason for root my phone
I don't know where to start and where to finish
Adblock
Most of app with comes with add
What about lucky patcher
Viper for android
Dolby atoms
Xpose frame work and magisk manager
Substratum
Font manager custom boot animation
Es file manager with root and wifi password
Kernel auditor
Android tweaking
Best bettery life with greenify and speed
Free space on internal move apps to external
Easily remove preinstalled apps
And u can run incompatible apps
And there are plenty of reason to stay with root
I can't live without root and twrp
Adaway
Viper4A
Magisk Modules
SystemPanel app
generally to install new ROMs, actually I'm on Renovate ICE
I recently realized that since October, I can't uninstall my system apps such Calendar, Calculator, FM Radio, etc.
I used EU & MIUI Kosmos ROM and both gave the same result. I usually freeze them on Titanum Backup, then Uninstalled them, then reboot my phone. But after rebooted, the apps kept going back. I tried to uninstalled them with another apps such Root uninstaller, Root app deleter, successfully uninstalled, but when I tried to rebooted the phone it was boot-looped.
So, now I can only disable them through the Titanium Backup. I rooted my phone with Magisk, and I checked the two advanced option in Magisk Manager [Preserve Force Encryption & Preserve AVB 2.0/dm-verity.
Anyone knows why that happened? And how can I properly uninstall those system apps like usual?
Is the checked choices on the Magisk Manager be the cause?

Yesterday i flashed Hellas Miui and faced the same problem. I tried to debloat using debloater magisk module and it showed successful but after rebooting the apps were still there.
I googled a bit and found out that we need to disable all magisk modules before uninstalling system apps.
Then i successfully uninstalled mi video and weather using "System App Remover (Root Needed)" from playstore.
Try debloat via adb
There are several topics about that.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...loat-redmi-note-7-miui-10-3-5-0-root-t3928466
I had the same problems a month back. I used to uninstall apps using titanium but that doesn't work now and root uninstaller sends the phone to fastboot. The terminal solutions only disables them.
After a lot of research I found a solution.
1. You must be rooted
2. Install any root browser (I used root explorer)
3. Go to
System/apps
System/ priv apps
System/ product / apps
System/ product/ priv apps
All the suckers are there, delete the ones bugging u (u should know what u r deleting, at ur own risk)
5. Reboot and voila :good:
Topic says it all. I have magisk root and want to debloat as much as I can of Samsung apps as I don't use them, but some of them seem pretty deeply ingrained in the system/settings (like Bixby, Samsung Pass etc.) . Is there a comprehensive list of apps, which people removed and it worked for them ok?
