Well, it happened. Woke up to the phone super hot on charger, almost too hot to pick up. Rebooted it and it went into a bootlooped on the first LG screen before finally dumping into the green crash screen. This cycle repeated a few times. Now the phone is completely unresponsive to buttons and charger.
C'mon LG... (there's been reports of this happening)

"Now the phone is completely unresponsive to buttons and charger."
So that's not a bootloop, because it doesn't bootloop. Return it.
Neither of G5, V20 and G6 bootloop, I assure you.
Yip never had this issue either, try a hard button reset (using buttons), maybe that helps, or connect to pc with LG bridge and do recovery restore.

are you using the stock charger and cable? wireless charging? custom kernel?

Well, it's unresponsive because battery died from it bootlooping. Either way, hard reset helped but it's still a big unnerving that he got so hot.

Its a strain to read that crap... use real words spelled out correctly.
You probably pulled out the ribbon cable from the back of the screen.

I had my battery die completly on me once. After i pluged it in, it acted as if bricked. No lights, no power, nothing. So i pulled the battery for 5-10 mins and then it worked again.
The phone doesn't charge while its booting up. Therefor if you let it die completely then plug it in it has to charge for a couple minutes before it can boot up again.

Yes. I had the same issue. JIC, make sure you always use the cable & charger that was provided with Glass. Google has a warning about this & I can tell you first hand that it has caused me several headaches.
Otherwise, for some reason, this time I had this issue even with the stock cable/charger. Device became sluggish & a warning appeared, telling me to cool down the device or it might remain unresponsive.
Once the update was finished, I rebooted the device & it has been normal since, but it did get seriously hot.
OK just making sure I wasn't the only 1 and yes I always use the stock ac adapter and USB cable

Mine randomly gets hot when being used for extended time, but was doing it before xe12. No hotness with any types of chargers I've tried
B4 that it only ever got warm when playing spellista for a long period of time (longer than 5 minutes)

My Nexus 6P decided to become completely unresponsive and turn off whilst on around 30% of battery yesterday.
Since, I've attempted to long press the power button, try to put the phone into boot mode by holding the volume down rocker (and tried it pressing up just in case) and power, alas no response.
Plugging the phone into the power socket returns no response also, no battery/charging animation and no red LED from the notification light.
Has anyone else had this problem/has a solution?
Thanks,
Ravi
Try leaving it connected to the charger for several hours and trying again. If that doesn't work then file a warranty claim. Had you modified it in any way recently?
I tried to do so for a few hours, but worried it was due to an overheating issue but will try for longer today, thank you! As for any modifications I've refrained from rooting or doing anything to the out the box model, the worrying issue is that I get no response from charging the device, makes me think that it's a hardware issue. Thanks for your reply!
sorry for the necro post, but the same issue happened to my wife's phone today. It was at 87% charge and plugged in when it happened. It powered off while she was watching a video and is now completely unresponsive. Did your phone "revive" or did you have to file a warranty claim?
Thanks

Mine recently powered off due to overheating. I left it for an hour or so and then plugged it in, and after a few minutes connected to the power supply it deigned to power up.
I was about to do a post about the cause of the overheating when I found this thread.
The same thing happened to me about a week ago. I have had no luck reviving the phone. I purchased it used a few months ago, so neither Huawei nor Google will accept it for repair, and I cannot find any third party who can repair the 6P. I now have a costly paperweight.
If anyone has a solution, I would love to hear it.

Hey,
It went a day without being able to be turned on, went for a shower and my girlfriend shouted saying that the phone turned on. Literally was a matter of leaving it plugged in and not attempting to do anything with it. No idea what the fault was to begin with and it hasn't happened since, sorry I can't be of much help with this but that's my experience with this issue!
EDIT: As knirirr it very well could be overheating and it's the only reasonable solution I can think of where nothing else is evident, at least in my experience.
My wife's phone powered back on after a few hours. She did say it was not hot or even warm when it shut down. I don't know what the catalyst for it coming back on was. It was completely unresponsive but after seeing posts elsewhere with other nexus devices having a similar issue and people said hold down the power button for up to 10 minutes and it will come on. I didn't believe that this would work and figured that something else was actually the trigger, but when I did it the phone powered up at about three and a half minutes and has been working fine since.
Thanks for all the replies.

Hey,
Recently i got the bootloop issue on my nexus 6p.
Unfortunately, i didn't unlocked my phone before the bootloop and i can't use the new method to fix bootloop.
Do you have any idea how to get my phone back? i don't have warranty no more.
Try to discharge it to <10% then it might boot up and you'll be able to unlock it.

Tried, but it's still not working.
Any other idea?

Try heating it up real hot with a hairdryer. Took me about 10 minutes, and you should aim for the back, between the camera glass and the fingerprint reader. Just let it bootloop while you're doing this and eventually it should boot right up
Hi guys...
I brought my wife and I back to Android from Windows Phone just before Christmas.
Bought my wife a V20.
Last night, with about 80% battery, she was sending a text message to me... And the phone died.
Ever since, we cannot get it to turn on. We have pulled the battery... Done the whole power button discharge thing... Tried to enter recovery... Tried charging it
The ONLY response (if you would call it that) we have managed to get is that the phone got warm whilst charging.
I'm running out of ideas... Have bought a spare battery which arrives tomorrow... Any other ideas greatly appreciated.

Does it stay on with the charger plugged in?
No... With the charger plugged in there are no signs of life... So no charging screen, no led lights etc.
Well... New battery did nothing.
I just don't understand it... No physical or water damage... Working and in use to suddenly completely dead... It makes no sense?
hi, im from Argentina and got the same problem. My phone died after i restarted, it doesn't turn on even with charger pluged in. hope theres a solution. Abrazo enorme.

Sounds like a warranty claim with LG
This happened to an LG g3 a couple of years ago. Seriously thinking of moving on from LG

seconded this
it's broken on normal usage, so it should be some unlucky faulty product then
I have the same problem, it just died in the middle of checking my email, while on the charger, battery at 90%. It won't turn on no matter what. I've had mine for only 2 weeks.
LG are a bunch of assholes (mods feel free to censor that if you have to). I mean SERIOUS ASSHOLES!.
They could have designed their PBL to have FEC (forward error correction), but better yet, they could have designed it so that if a sig match fails, you STILL get download mode so you can reflash your phone.
Nooooo ...... they are super assholes, and if your phone fails a sig check then it is a brick.
What probably happened is that your NAND has some bad spots, and therefore the RSA signed firmware failed a signature check.
Due to the lawsuit, you can call LG and tell them you have a brick, and they will probably replace it.

Same story happened last night , having my LG V20 for about 4 years , i only played music and some recordings plus social media through this device ..a few days ago i've seen some crashes and restarts maybe due to it's full storage (2 GB free) or using it continuously on charging mode . finally last night it gone completely dead and black! i've tried almost every solving video tips on you tube and some websites (also charging with and without the battery) the only major living sign was getting warm while chargin it without the battery!! any ideas?!
My v20 unfortunately did this same thing after replacing the screen, 60gb worth of important photos lost forever now.. GREAT.. Won't even warm up while plugged in, no vibrations, nothing. completely dead and i can't even get a voltage reading on the board anywhere except the battery terminals. as if the board's traces were cut from the battery. Only took a year on a used v20
