Camera Lens Off-Center - LG G6 Questions and Answers

So I got my G6 a few days ago and I just noticed today that the wide-angle lens on my G6 is off-centered. Should I be worried? I only have a couple of days to have it quickly replaced. I'd rather not bother if there's no problem with it being not centered.
Here's a picture:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_pUYAtddAotaGo5akl5UlNQZm8/view?usp=sharing
The off-centered lens is the one on the left.
What do you guys think? Should I have it replaced?

It won't affect your pictures but if it bugs you get it replaced

Mine is the same. Everything works perfect so i wouldn't bother.

Yeah. Nothing seems wrong with the pictures. I was just worried that the camera module is physically loose and might fail in the future.

It makes me wonder how common this is.

Both mine are pretty centred, luckily

Mine is the same and I have had no issues. Just looked at the wife's and hers is like that too.

Well, I guess this is rather common then.

Mine too is dislocated. And this causes Normal Pictures to be very blur.

If yours is cracked, remove it. I think the crappy cover is partly responsible for the picture quality issues of this phone.
Mine seems to be a crappy plastic. It even feels a bit weird...kind of rough.
The actual lens is a couple mm below the cover.
no but mine has a nick in it NO clue how it go there since its been in a case since day one
Yep. Mine's cracked..... or was... I removed it.
No idea how it got cracked. Phone has never been dropped or anything.

Did picture quality change in either direction?

Yes, it got better. Mine was actually cracked in a Y shape and where all three segments met was right smack in the middle of the lens. Even so, it wasn't a HUGE difference, but was noticeable.
Mine's in perfect condition... no case, got it at the IO conference.
Haven't even been particularly nice to the EVO either, never been in a case.

Camera mounted wrong?

Hey, I want to make sure I'm not the only with this problem. I picked up a new 32g last night at Walmart, and after giving it a thorough once over, I found that the front facing camera is not mounted center in the hole. The pinhole that is the camera lens is slightly left of the clearing made for it in the screen. I know I'm being anal, but after spending close to $300 on something I expect at least the build quality to be closer to perfect. Do any of y'all have this problem?

Mine is like that as well. It's not going to bother me at all. In fact, I hadn't even noticed it until I read your post.

Blurry Front Camera

My front camera is blurry, can't focus properly. Anyone else with this problem?
Does the camera look sharp when using the viewfinder, but blurry when actually taking a photo? Because that's the problem I'm having...
Try cleaning the lense. Would be great if you post a picture to see what you mean.

The cleaning of the len is the first thing I tried. But thanks. Here is a photo. As you can see is blurry around the hand, face or anything that I take a picture of. The back camera is perfect, it is just the front one.
Seems out of focus.

Yes that the problem even if I touch the screen to try to make it focus. I guess I got a defective unit if no one is having the same problem. I will have to return it.

*yikes* sorry to hear that. Did you order your phone from Google or Huawei? I saw someone else had a defective phone from Huawei and he reached out to Google. Google shipped out a new phone right away with 3 days shipping process. If I were you I would reach out to Google asap.

Yep he called huawei and was told he would get a call back which never happened. Then he called Google and they sort out his issue right away. I am getting mine from huawei so I will make sure to ring Google first in case of any defective.

The front camera does not have autofocus. They're usually adjusted to a set focal point at the factory. When you tap the screen when you're using the front facing camera, all that's doing is adjusting the exposure (shutter speed). Unfortunately, yours seems to be mis-adjusted.*
(*Do not take what I said as gospel. I may be incorrect about some things)
Thanks for the information.

Nexus 6P Graphite. Fingerprint scanner is a different color?

Hello guys!
The fingerprint scanner on my Graphite Nexus 6P is another color than the rest of the body? For me it seems to be greener than the body.
Is it the same for you?
Anyone?
Can you show us a picture.

Did you checked the photos I provided? Are you sure this is normal? I did not see this on my first model
Come on, guys...please someone with a 6P confirm if this is how it is for you or not...
It all looks normal to me. Also the fingerprint scanner will reflect light differently than the phone body because it's recessed into the body of the phone. Which in turn can make it look different. But yours looks normal. The bar at the bottom is supposed to be slightly diff than the body of the phone to give a two tone effect.

so, ppl are telling you it's normal, but you're still asking ppl to tell you it's normal?
ok

its normal. you also have to consider they are different materials which will affect the color a little. I have aluminum and its the same. scanner and bottom are different shades. nothing to worry about

I might be a little OCD ambout my phone. The reason i am a little worried is because I do not remember my first unit having this. But on the first one I had a bad pinkish display....on this one the display is good...but i noticed today the different colors.

Yes...it does. It is not about functionality tho. I just do not know if this is how it is supposed to look. As I said I do not remember my first unit (built in Octomber) to have two different colors. Or at least it was more of the same shade. That is why this one seems weird to me.

It could very possibly be a different shade. But I am just saying that unless it is effecting the usage of the device, why does it matter. It's not like you could trade it in on the basis that the fingerprint scanner paint is a slightly different shade then your first model. You are hyper focused on a non issue. Are you worried that you got a refurbished one. Because you probably did. And that would definitely explain the difference in paint. But still, you have a fully functional device.

Well yea...I am kinda worried it was a refurbished device. But the thing is...I do not know if it was indeed refurbished or not. The guy at the shop where I requested a replacement opened the second one in front of my eyes. He cut the exterior seal and also the seal on the box. So...might it be refurbished? How can I tell?

Yeah it is hard to say. I would assume it's new, but maybe they have refurbs stocked from huawei on hand for trade outs. I don't really know how it works. I have gotten refurbished phones in the past though and have not experienced negative side effects. My HTC m7 which I had for the full 2 years was one of my favorite phones. My first model did crap out though in the first week and I had to mail it in to swap it and definitely got a refurbished one. But it still works fine to this day. I could see where they had glued it back together at the top though and it made me uneasy for the first few months.

This is a little bit off topic...but is it legal to sell refurbished phones without saying they are refurbished? The shop I bought it from claims it maight be a new phone. Idk if they collaborate with Huawei. Nexus devices are not so Popular in Romania. The 6P launched here on something arount 22nd of December (I bought it on 23rd...but the phone was manufactured in October).
Back on topic...do you think it looks normal? Still waiting for more replys from guys that own a Graphite Nexus 6P

Spots in camera

I recently developed two black dots when I'm taking pictures. The darkest one (middle left) showed up about a week ago. Then a lighter one (upper center) appeared a couple of days ago. They move when I zoom in and out.
I sent my phone in to Huawei a couple of months ago to get the battery changed out. Have any of you had this before? Could this be debris on the lens or is there something else you guys think it's wrong that would require changing the camera?
Thanks for any thoughts or advise.

I've also noticed the light spot on my photos as well. I just started noticing it about 2 or 3 weeks ago. I thought it was on the glass that covers the camera, but I replaced that a few weeks ago while I was replacing the battery, but the spot is still there. Mostly noticeable in photos with a light background. I really have to look for it though. It's more of an OCD annoyance, because now that I know it's there I can't un-see it. Yours seems to be worse than mine is though. The spot on mine isn't as dark....not yet anyway.

I had similar experience a while ago. I had my phone repaired because it's SoC burned out and after few weeks I noticed these two black spots on pics. It turned out that camera sensor was faulty (never found out was it because of the chip repair). Luckily it was still on warranty and I got it repaired for free.
Thanks for the insight. Mine went out of warranty shortly after I sent it in to get the battery replaced. I've seen some videos on replacing the camera. Doesn't look too hard. I'll hold off and see if I doesn't get any worse until the new Pixel drops.

I have changed my battery some time ago so I have no warranty on my phone.. And a month back I got those kind of spots in my camera too. So I ordered a new camera (about 7$ @ ebay), changed it and now it's rocking as new. Changing the camera is easy after you get the phone open... Good luck.
Sounds like dust on the camera lens to me.

I thought of that and I wanted to take the glass off and blow it out to see but I wanted to ask around first. I still may do it anyway. I have a replacement glass piece already. Then I'll know if I need to replace the camera or not. That's if it gets too much worse or I decide to keep it another year as my main because I don't like the new Pixel.

It was few bucks more expensive that I remembered. But super cheap fix anyways.
I'll check the number from my original camera sensor when I get back home from work.
