I've just received my Nexus One today, but found out there are two hairline cracks around the headphone jack, is there anybody have the same problem?
I had the same problem with my iPhone 3GS before...
they look perfectly straight
are you sure they aren't designed that way?
I'm thinking they're just there from the mold they used to cast that piece.
I have those too... didnt even notice it... I think its part of the hardware though from the looks of it.
I have the same; looks like it's definitely from the mold they used and not actual cracks.
You may now breathe a sigh of relief!
Cheers,
Kermee
Ditto.
it doesn't look like a defect. i was about to cut a mofo if it was.
WOW! OP, your and Id10t!
I'm really sorry, i never try to offend anyone its just that this question and looking at the pic got to me.
I got those too.
I have it on mine too. it's very tiny. I hardly notice.

wow your very kind
please excuse someone who was afraid that his 530 dollar investment was flawed.
Mine doesn't have those
If it is a crack this suffers from the same thing as the x1 xperia

Same here, got mine today
I didnt notice till I looked at you picture then my phone but yeah, it's just part of the mold.
Mine doesn't have those marks. But it does look like something caused during the manufacturing process.
ive got em... had to get a bright flashlight to see em but i have them too, and they dont go down into the jack so its not a crack
AND IT LIVES!
hah i was surprised at myself for how non hesitant i was to reach in and grab that sucker soooo fast
lucky for me it was in a clean toilet in my home
anyways
void sticker didnt even get touched
immediately ripped out the battery
let it sit in paper towels for a bit
and then put it in a warm place near a heater just not very close
two hours later i dared to turn it on and im totally safe ^_^
its been a few days now with no problems at all!
you should put it in a bowl of dry rice just in case
does it feel nice to the face? haha glad it survived. Sure way to know if you have the peeling screen issue. Seems like yours is sealed 100000% no dust for you!

I think you two may be the first people I've seen mention their sexual orientation on XDA, lol...
I dropped my Treo 600 in a freakin lake about 2 months after getting it. I dove in and got it, threw it in the boat and it was dead, dead, dead. Took it home and it sat on the counter the remainder of my vacation. At first you could see the unit exhibiting small signs of life and eventually it came back and worked 100%. Sometimes miracles happen
lol funny thread

Wow, I'm surprised your Nexus One still works dude.. guess HTC's testing process did do some good. Or, you just got extremely lucky somehow.
On an off-topic side note, did anyone notice in the video where the Nexus One fell, the screen did not crack? I assume this was an almost final version of the product? Why though, does when people drop their phones on the concrete it still breaks? If HTC went through this rigorous testing process, why are phones breaking so easily?.. Of course glass breaks easily, but did the material they dropped the phone on was not as dense or hard enough as concrete? Or was it simply the multiple angles they tried..

In the video it looks like the phones are dropped from what appears to be rather less than hand-holding height, onto a surface that appears to be slightly rubbery. Concrete tends to be rather unforgiving no matter what you drop on it.
In December, I dropped my HTC Magic into a kid's swimming pool, left it to dry for one day and it's still in great working condition today =)
Did this exact same thing to my old Nokia 8190 back in the day, and the bowl wasn't "fresh". Phone came out fine other than the battery life dropped to 6-8 hours of standby, ended up carrying a spare in my wallet.
Oh lol, nice reaction tho..

OOOOhh Myyyyy Goooosshhhh I would have totally gone hysterical.
I had a google Ion that I paid toooo furkin much for and dropped the bloody thing on the pavement and scuffed it - I nearly had to have counselling I was so gutted.
Its excellent to know it wasn't killed, was the screen off when it went in?
I have porn on my nexus, but only the stuff I wrote myself (see sig)
Dayz
This is literally the only thing I don't like about the phone. On my ~3 day old ATT Nexus One, the right side (When looking at the screen), on the side, the plastic is just loose enough that your fingernail can catch it. It seems insanely minor, but it's a huge annoyance because that's where your fingers rest, so it's constant sharp plastic edge.
Is there any way to remove and refit it, or maybe order a replacement cover? It's the plastic part with "HTC" on it. I really don't want to fight with HTC over a return for such a niggling issue
Mine was, sent it to HTC and they sorted it. Looking at the tear down pics, it wouldn't be hard to DIY it.

Exactly. I'm torn as to rather I want to screw with it myself or go through the hassle of sending it in. Did they just send you a new phone and a box to return your old one, or did you have to actually send it in for repair?
I sent it to them (well, they collected it), had it for a few days and returned it. Not a replacement, which I was happy with as my unit appears to be a goodun.

You might be able to get an advance replacement if you ask. Or Google for the tear down, it pops off.

Yeah, I saw the teardown vid, seems to just pull off with enough force, I'm just unsure if I can make it any better. I'll wait and see if anyone has DIY'ed it
Same problem here, I thought I was the only one. =) I agree that it's really minor, but if it's something that could be fixed that would be nice.
Mine sticks out on the right side, too. NBD for me, but that's odd.
Yeah, I'm glad I'm not the only one too. In the teardown vid on youtube they just pull it off with a plastic iphone tool. I'm kinda tempted to try, and see if I can tell what's making it do that.
i have this issue too. to me, it's a minor cosmetic issue. and how will you know that the one they send you doesn't also have that issue?
My beef is the glass on the screen sits just below the sides of the metal.. leaving a sharp ledge on both sides of the screen where it should be flush

Exactly, hence my hesitation to try to warranty it.
I had a chance to look at several at&t N1s and I noticed this too. The bottom part on about half of them had a larger gap than there should have been. Hopefully it's easy to DIY fix.
How can AT&T N1s be different from T-Mobile one's exactly? There all being made by HTC, just of course with different radios.. why would there be cosmetic differences..? I didn't know carriers had an input in how [HTC] made their phones.. if you know what I mean.

It's possible that the t-mobile ones had the same problem. Luckily my phone hasn't had any problems really. But it's also possible for the manufacturer to make small adjustments on their lines to increase efficiency, that's why different batches/serial numbers come out screwy sometimes.
Is anyone's screen slightly raised up a bit near the volume and power buttons? Like maybe a few mm or less? This is my 2nd replacement, which also has this issue. I'm not sure if I should RMA again if others will end up like this. Is it normal, I would like to hear from others who have the 6P? If it won't fall off over time, I think I can live with it lol

Yes, i can see that at the top of the device glass is flush with metal rim, and on the side i raised 1mm, maybe less. But if you don't like it try to contact google and get new one again...

Considering my first unit was like this, I doubt the next one will be much dramatically better. I can live with it, but I am worried that it might get worse over time.

Hello,
Ive had my Pixel XL Since October. I've used it day in and day out since then. Have been very careful with it. In November I got a case for it. Made buy Bear motion. I noticed that when I would put my phone down on any level surface. I would rock back and forth. I thought it was the case, so I didn't think much of it. Today I was rocking the phone Naked and it did the same thing! After taking a look at it, I tried bending the phone from is corners to try to straighten it out. I put it back on the counter and now was rocking the opposite way. It wasn't very forceful either. I mean very little effort on pressing of the corners. I'm kind of disappointed in this as I had a Nexus 6P and I know it had a bending issue (towards the center) as well but didn't rock like this. Has anyone had this issue with their Pixel or Pixel XL? I have a couple of videos to illustrate what I saw. I hope this helps explain a bit better. Sorry for the music playing in the background!

mine is bent, i noticed the rocking the other day. I thought it was my case as well, took it out, and it still rocked. Mine rocks the same exact way as in the first linked video. A lot of people say it is an iphone clone from the front, now it rocks like an iphone lol
Haha yea. Well I think it might be from maybe sitting on it from time to time.
None here. I once went go karting with my nexus 5 and it was bent like that after it. I just bent it back lol
Your phone is not bent.
The Pixel and Pixel XL are pretty durable phones. The thing about the pixel is that from top to bottom, the thickness is slightly chaffered. Depending on how smooth and even the surface, you can notice how the thickness gets thinner from top to bottom.

My phone was bent from day one. slight rocking on multiple flat surfaces. kind of anoyying. My honor 5x is perfectly flat, alumninium build, and was $200.

. I know there is a thickness difference from the top to the bottom but it shouldn't rock like it does. It's a catacorner rocking.

I remember seeing all these videos online on how durable this phone was. It sucks that it has this problem.
I'm wondering if the people with bent phones are carrying them in their back pocket.

This. Not to mention at least 90% of all women I've known that have dropped their phone in the toilet keep it in their back pocket. That thought alone prevents me from putting my phone back there, even though it's sometimes annoying to have in the front pocket of my jeans. (The grey Google Live case is a really sticky silicone).
No bending here. Flat as a rock.

This might be the case. I sat on it while driving before. I'm going to not do that to see if that was the cause.

I've never carried a phone in my back pocket, a flat phone on a round ass just doesn't seem like a good combo.
