Auto force toggle mobile data ln mms - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Anyone know how to enable this without root? I usualllyhave my mobiledata off when the wifi is on. But to send/recieve mms, it must be on. On rooted devices I edited 'others.xml' which is located in the System/CSC folder. Just added thr line below:
<CscFeature_RIL_ForceConnectMMS>true</CscFeature_RIL_ForceConnectMMS>
But I dont want to root my s8+ bcuz of the warranty. Anyone know if there is a way to enable this without root?
Just for clarification I do have unlimited data/mms plan. My main reason to do this is do save battery.
Ps: this feature is available as stock in some huwaei and Htc phones Ice tried, under settings. But in samsung its turned off by default

turn data off

Is there any way to turn data off so that no program can turn it on unless you turn it on? reason is due to money problems atm i want to take off my data package and i dont want the phone to use data
Delete HTC_CM_Guardian in start up will allow you to delete the #777 verizon number permanently. If you want it back run the HTC_CM_Guardian.exe under windows.
This is one example. I think there is another thread on XDA somewhere but I forget where.

I cant seem to find HTC_CM_GUARDIAN anywhere in the phone
I just looked on my phone and the file is there in the windows dir.
It is also runnung under processes.
Now I know what it does!!

APN Settings

alright so im on the echo rom Via the verizon pf2 firmware. Selected sprint during the setup process. I have voice and messaging working. i edited the build props.... still no data. any advice anyone?
google your service providers apn settings and enter them in and if that didnt work after you did what was said i would go back and redo everything and slow down to make sure i did it all in order etc, sometimes a second run through will make it work
i hve them. the keybord im using now is messed up. some letters nd shift key re out.. i will type them up on something else nd post themwen i get min.
My experience is actually kind of strange. When I rooted my phone I actually lost the ability to edit APN. It does not show up anywhere in my phone. I had to edit the build.prop to get it working right. My messaging works but not picture messages which sucks. So I use a messaging app called 8sms and it fixes all my APN issues.

Auto enable data when receive MMS

Hello guys.
With the basic sms application, I do not get the mms without manually activating the cellular connection. It's annoying, on my previous phones (Meizu, Sony, etc.) and on the phone of people I know (One Plus, ZTE, etc), the datas are activated automatically.
Because of this, I miss some message (long messages that are transformed into mms).
Does anyone have a solution or mod magisk to activate this? Maybe a rom?
Thank you.
yes you let data turn on

Android Messages - No preferred SIM selected for sending SMS/MMS messages

Hello All,
My SMS is set for a prefered SIM for messages which I do not want and when I change it to my second SIM it changes back to the prefered SIM instantaneously.
I would like to have the choice of which SIM I want to use for each SMS I want to send.
This function worked prior to rooting and returning to stock. Something got lost/corrupted when I returned to stock
My phone is locked and do not want to root it.
I saw a command for HTC that can be run with ADB but I do not have Grant access to send the command to my phone.
Is this the correct command for a OP 8T OOS13?
adb shell settings put global multi_sim_sms null
If so how can I send it to my phone?
Or does anyone have another way to allow me to use either SIM 1 or SIM 2 when sending messages?
Thank you

What SMS app do you use? There are a few in the Play Store that should handle dual SIM well.
Thank you for your reply Genesis.
I am using Google Messages and the function used to work before I rooted my phone and reverted back to stock.
As you can see from the screenshot attached, it allows me to change from work to home but will always revert back to work automatically so I can no longer send sms/mms from home.
It would seem that something is missing in the code to allow the change to stay on Sim 2 (home) when selected.
Again this function worked even after rooting, but when I returned back to stock using MSM and the correct OOS for NA (Global) is when it stopped.
When I returned to stock and went through the steps to set up my phone, it asked for prefered SMS Sim but nowhere do I find a button to allow me to change that with disabling mobile data for a specific Sim and re-enabling it.
When doing that it willl allow me to send from home but wont allow me to send from Work.
Hope this helps clarify the situation.
Thank you
FWIW,
I figured out the problem with Google Messages no longer allowing to switch sim cards to send messages from one sim or the other.
If you had to restore your phone to factory settings or locked / bricked your phone and restored it with MSM tool and had backed up all text messages with any tool available, messages does not like that.
Messages will allow to use either Sim for texting if you do not restore your old messages after any phone restore.
If you restore your old messages, then some software bug in Google messages no longer allows you to use both sims for texting.
Quite a frustrating time to figure that out.
I liked Google Messages but due to this issue I switched to Textra and all is working fine.
Hope that helps some of you.
Cheers!
