Is there anyway to set up a pin or lock so you can block other people from seeing your text messaging?
and you can't receive MMS on ANdroid without a data plan right? is there a way to hack this?
I own a Mytouch and a G1.
Thanks.

Is there anyway to set up a passcode or some kind of code to block text messaging? One of my friends got an application that locks text messaging using the same app that locks the phone in general(the drawing one). I didn't get the name of the app. Anyone have something similar?
Thanks.
There's an app called Protector
I bought my wife Omnia Lite and can not figure out how to disable MMS in that. It has original ROM and SW. I want to keep it as is since my wife would not like to have it changed...
Problem is that when writing new SMS it always sends as MMS and it costs 10times more than SMS. I like to disable MMS completely.
How to make it?

I dont know how you manage to do that but if you want to disable your mms navigate to the following key in your registry hklm\software\samsung\mms\settings\connection and change it to hklm\software\samsung\mms\settings\connection\TM PIctureMessage.old
Your internet will still work but mms wont be sent.
The message only becomes a mms message when you add a media item such as a picture or audio, (with warning) as soon as you remove the multimedia item it reverts back to an sms (with warning).
So i think you must be adding something in your messages
for a wm device i know how to change things, as for now i would like to set my mms size limit to 5mb the max for sprint, but how would i do this? don't really want to learn android code just to set this.
Not sure how you could do it with the stock app ( without finding & editing the proper code ) but i know Handcent SMS & chompSMS both allow you to change the MMS limit plus they have great other features as well.
i tried handset but I get double notice on texts. How do I change that?
go to the stock messaging app, menu>settings, then disable notifications. you'll only be notified through handcent/chomp
handcent only goes to 1.2 stock does 3, sprint limit is 5mb

if you r using android go to>message setting>push settings>uncheck receive push msgs
You can change you message setting option.. but i think it is very easy...
i don't seem to be able to get a straight answer to this wap push thing in the net. basically if i disable wap push, does it also disable other thing like sms and messages? i like to stop my telco or others sending me junk messages, but obviously do not want to disable sms and messages. are they related?
what operating system you on on your hd2 .
have you tried getting your provider to block/stop the junk.
oh, sorry, mister b. i found this thread through searching. i don't have a hd2 but a motorola defy running miui rom. it has a setting to allow/disallow push wap and i was wondering if i should disallow it. just trying to understand what this push wap setting does.
edit: in the message advance settings page, under the "allow wap push" line it says "allow receiving and notifying wap push messages (si/sl). my question is if i uncheck this setting would i be missing any genuine messages that might have come from my customers, friends and families?
Should not effect basic sms or mms sending/recieving but I expect turning it off will not eliminate all the junk messages & if that is the case your best bet is call Telco customer services & get them flag you for no junk/spam messaging.
You may try to change it in message settings.
thanks

Hey guys,
I'm looking for an app or a tweak that can show me notifications on my lock screen.
I added my work email account and the server forces me to set PIN code, now I cannot really swipe down the notification window since it's being disabled. (This also disabled the widgets on lock screen)
So if I get a SPAM mail, I don't really want to enter the PIN code and see who's it from, I want it to show the mail headers and that's all.
Same for WhatsApp, SMS, missing calls, Push notifications and so on.
Seems like I need to 'unlock' the phone every time I hear some notification tone.
I'm pretty new to this forum/android, I hope I posted it in the right forum.
Thanks!
You will have to use the hacked email app which would then not force the PIN on your phone then you can do that. Otherwise there's no way to do that.
i have my phone set to only notify me for priority inbox in gmail. i'm sure you could do something similar.
Which hacked email?
Seems like it's not a good idea to bypass these rules...
So tell me, every time you want to check who sent you an email, you have to unlock the phone and open the emaill app?
This really sucks.
Any chance it's in the Android roadmap? better notifications?
What about customized ROMs, kernels, whatever?
Thanks!
As another user whose work email security policy enforces too much security, I'd also recommend the hacked email http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117452
I believe you need to be root and the hack needs to be run from a PC and patches your existing email program, runs on 4.2.1 fine. I use aokp and it's always worked.
You need to remove your work account temporarily before running it and then add it back, it also will need to be rerun everytime you flash a new ROM and set your email program back. But only takes seconds, just a matter of running a cmd file.
I now use face lock/pattern lock instead of pin so that it's still secure, but it means that i can use lock screen widgets.
