S Health hourly temp and humidity - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

When I opened S Health the other day on my Galaxy S8, the welcome screen showed the forecast of the hourly humidity and hourly temp for the day. I loved that feature but am unable to recreate it. I've checked all the options in the app I can find with no luck. Does anyone know how to turn that feature back on?

[SOLVED] WTF is "sensorserver_ya" and why is it killing my battery?

This mystery process called "sensorserver_ya" is killing my battery, between 50% and 150% of what my screen is using (which is, of course, a lot).
Anyone have any idea what it is? Tried googling things for awhile and found nothing other than people listing their battery processes, and a couple other people asking what it is also...
TimeWalker pedometer widget was the culprit in my case, see details near bottom of thread.

By going to the stock battery statistics in the settings, about phone.
Very Strange... I have no clue what that is. Sorry
It doesn't show up in my task manager, or as an app in Titanium or anywhere else.
I have quite a few widgets installed (Weather Channel, Buzz Box, Agenda Widget, Battery Widget, Facebook, Pandora, TimeWalker, Twitter) as well as Tasker running. Could it be one of those? I might try removing them one by one to see if it goes away.
Do you have any games installed? I found this on some Swedish site. They were talking about the same process.

Labyrinth Games that are heavy users of the sensors so it is not surprising.

No, although one of my tasker profiles is set to turn the alarm off if I put the phone face down at night. I might try deactivating that and seeing what happens.
I disabled the Tasker profiles and let the phone sit for almost 2 hours.

What widgets are you running?
Sensorly app?
Weird, I dont even have that process in mine....
I disabled the TimeWalker widget (pedometer) and the process hasn't appeared yet. I think this may have fixed it. Anyone else?
At least in my case, the TimeWalker widget was the culprit. "Sensorserver_ya" didn't show up for days. This morning, I reactivated it and all of a sudden it showed up again, shooting up to 9% of battery usage (and draining 2% of my total battery) in less than 10 minutes. The widget itself took another 1/3 of that.
Too bad, I had a pedometer built into my Sony Ericsson w580i and it was awesome. Battery rocked. Not sure what the problem is here.
I see that process on occasion and I've never run the widget that you are referring to.
It is probably triggered by running a compass or other app that uses the position sensors.

Since not everybody is seeing this power drain, I think it is not likely to be the system setting to check orientation and adjust the screen from portrait to landscape automatically, although that seems a likely suspect to me. I also suspect a screen management tool called Screebl. I have disabled Screebl now to see if that makes a difference. (Even though I had Screebl configured to not work when power is applied, my system didn't have any period of Suspend through the night last night, despite being plugged in for about half the night.)

I observed that besides the mystery process sensorserver_ya and the shortened battery life, if I watched the phone go into power saver mode with no apps running it would dim then kill my display as expected, but then after 3 to 5 seconds it would light it up again as if I had pressed the activate button.
I tried uninstalling two apps ACIDR and PowerAmp. This behavior stopped after
that. I reinstalled PowerAmp and the behavior did not recur. ACIDR had been on my GalaxyS for some time PowerAmp was recently added. Both were up to date.
I know, old thread, but...
Just to add to the possible causes for others, I found that CardioTrainer had frozen up while trying to post my workout to Facebook. Several hours later I saw the sensorserver process sucking my battery at 14% of total usage according to "About Phone". When this thread mentioned pedometer and labyrinth I checked and found that CardioTrainer was hung. It didn't show in the normal "Active Applications" but TitaniumBackup told me it was running.
Hope that helps anyone else with the problem.
Seeing that process means that you have something that is making use of the accelerometer on a frequent basis. You should figure out which of your apps are using the accelerometer and either uninstall or make sure they remain closed.
Making use of the accelerometer in a way that is using it at nearly all times is the fastest way to burn through your battery.

Recent S-health update creates wakelocks

Updated S-health app yesterday and today I discovered a 17h. wakelock by the S-health app. Can't make the phone sleep without killing S-health. I have S-health going in the background all the time to have the stepcounter going, but never had wakelock issues before updating. I had a backup of old S-health and rolled back and now all is well again.
Anyone having a remedy or am I to wait for fix/update?

i dont use s health very often (sometimes in the gym for my heartrate)
but i updated it yesterday, and at the end of the day my SOT was only 1 h and 20 minutes or less, and my battery was around 60% !!
normally i allready have 2 or 3 hours of SOT when i reach 60 %
i dont know if it has anything to do with S Health (could not find it in battery stats tough)
but all i know is that it sucked.
S-Health battered my battery from the day I got my phone so I turned it off and my battery improved a lot. The steps function was so easily cheated simply by shaking the phone that it didn't seem worth having.
... you don't sit around shaking your phone do you really? The step counter works quite all right and can be relied on as any other step counter device. And it uses no battery to speak of. Really!
In Samsung app store many has complained about the same wakelock issue draining battery like h... the last days. I guess we'll have to wait for fix.
So, DO NOT UPDATE TO RECENT S-HEALTH BEFORE FIX HAS BEEN MADE!

I updated to the latest S-Health but I see no extra wakelocks coming from it, even though I wear a Gear Fit all day so S-Health is frequently syncing and gathering data from it. However, yesterday I noticed a rapid battery drain, with Android OS and Android System shown as the culprits, leaving the Screen at the 3rd place in battery stats, which is really weird. Maybe it is S-Health acting up after all.
Same problem here. After update, I was having a hugh battery drain. Installed Wakelock Detector and it showed more than 1500 wakelocks in 12 hours (most of them were alarm manager). I have uninstalled the update, waiting for a fix...
It seems it woun't sync properly on autosync and then hangs for hours. When I did manual sync in settings/accounts it is fine again, but everytime it autosyncs, it's a new hang. In Samsung store it got a new date on it now, Jan. 30. I don't know if it's an attempt to fix, but it's not a success. Reverted to old backup yet again

I also checked out my battery behaviour this night and was very disappointed. Although my phone was in flight mode and every peripherals and services shut down, today morning my phone was crying for energy. So I made a quick investigation in my power diagram and found out, that "Android OS" requested a wakelock during the whole power-on time. So I installed "CPU Spy" to check in which states the phone was really over the whole charging period. I couldn't believe my eyes. Although the kernel should do it's job good, cause most of the CPU times are in lower freqeuncy states, the deep sleep mode was never activated.
Therefore I installed an app called "Wakelock Detector" to check out which apps could cause that. I found out, that S Health had a big amount of wakelocks and also active-time, so the first thing was to disable S Health. After some minutes I checked back, but nevertheless still no deep sleep time in "CPU Spy".
So I searched around and found another one arguing about the wakelocks and that they could be the products of some programming issues concerning WiFi. The should be gone, after turning off WiFi and rebooting yout phone. And it seems that he was right. I waited some time and hooray, "CPU Spy" listed the phone state "Deep Sleep" the first time as an active state and also with the major active-time. So at least that was some step ahead. (I have to remark, that S Health was already unfrozen at this time, so S Health should not be responsible in any way.)
The next step was to reactivate WiFi, leave it on and set the phone on standby. After some time I checked back again the phone showed even more deep sleep time. So that was an improvement. I reactivated everything and waited some time... Deep Sleep all over the time. Can't figure out for now, if it was S Health, WiFi, or anything else that caused the wakelock for sure. At least the reboot helped. I'll check that out on a long-term test, maybe I get some further conclusions.

Here are my issues so far (T-Mobile version)

I got the phone yesterday and during the initial set up, the phone got warm and dropped from 60% to 35% in less than an hour. Everything settled down but the battery was still draining quickly.
Last night, I charged the phone fully before going to bed and left it off the charger overnight. When I woke up 7 hours later, the battery had dropped to 78% which I think is completely uncalled for. Now for the past few hours, my battery is dropping faster than it should and my phone is getting warm just browsing Chrome or Facebook.
The other issues I am having are with sync. I got two emails overnight around 5am and just got the notification for them at 11am after I did a manual sync. I also haven't been able to get any Facebook notifications since I started using the app. I have the notification settings set correctly in the app and in the phone settings. The only thing I get is a Icon badge.
The apps I noticed that were sucking down a lot of power are the built in Amazon App and something called Access Cloud. I disabled the Amazon app but I can find the Access Cloud.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what's going on?
For notifications being delayed, go to Settings -> Advanced features -> Smart alert -> Off.
This feature waits for you to pick up your phone to notify you of notifications.... in my opinion should be off by default.
As for the battery I'm in the same boat, but it's only been two days so far and it's lasted me an entire day. Disable any tmobile bloat you don't use.
I had about the same amount of drain overnight as you. I had a horrible experience with the t-mobile app in the past where after disabling it I was seeing 15-20% more battery life throughout the day. But seeing as we can't disable this app out of the box, I downloaded an app called "Package Disabler" that allows you to disable pretty much anything you want. I disabled all these apps, let's see if it makes a difference today.

I just went through and disabled a bunch of stuff using Package Disabler. I guess we will see how it works.
I already had Smart Alert off so I know that's not the issue.
I wonder if anyone else is getting Facebook notifications.

I don't think smart alert waits for you to pick up the device to notify you.. I still get all my notifications right away. Smart alert just vibrates the phone as you pick it up to tell you that you have a missed notification. I could be wrong but that's how it worked on my s6 edge, why would it be any different now?

I agree. That's also the way it works for me.

I ended up doing a factory reset being that the battery drain was so bad. I also can't deal with the delayed notifications and non existing Facebook notifications.
If this doesn't work I'll just exchange it for another. There's no reason why some people with the same phone are getting good battery life and others have to deal with piss poor battery life.
I'm in the same boat. Just woke up with the phone off the charger after being fully charged. 2 hours later the phone was down 2% with 100% cpu usage with the android system. Since browsing the Web for this issue, I'm down 10%. My s6 was way better on batter and only went down 1% since yesterday with no usage! How can I fix this ? I upgraded for better battery life

You're probably right, I just interpreted it as it would only notify you when you picked up the device, but then again I always disable it. Downloaded Package disabler as well after reading this thread, here's to disabling that pesky T-Mobile app! :good:

Doze not working on S7 Edge Exynos Variant

Hi guys,
My S7 Edge's doze seems to have stopped working... Usually I'll lose between 2-5 percent over night (about 8 hours)... Now I'm losing between 10-15 percent..
Not sure what's going on... probably something draining the battery. I've looked at app optimization under the battery settings, and the only thing that is not optimized is the google play store. I can't optimize it either...
Is there something wrong with my s7 edge? Why isn't it going into doze mode?
GSAM battery monitor says it is going into doze, but that's obviously not true because of the batter draine. Samsungs battery infor graph, shows a steady decline, and not the typical flat plateud line that you se when you're in doze...
Any advice on how to fix the issue?
Bump... Can anyone help me out here?
Bump... Could really use some help please...
So this isn't a perfect fix but if you go into the Play store there is an app called Doze that works well. The icon is an owl. It's the first one of you search for Doze. I used it on my note edge and 6p.
Thanks... But it was working fine since I've owned it... It's only be acting weird for the last 2-3 days...
Well you should be happy with that. Mine turned from 2-5% overnight to 30-40%. Please update if you find any fix as I've been trying to fix mine for months.
EDIT: Mine only happens when Wifi is on though

Samsung S6 Edge+ Massive Battery Drain Overnight!!!

Hi guys, I recently got a Samsung S6 Edge+ which is running Marshmallow 6.0.1 Un-rooted.
What the problem seems to be is that even if I am not using my phone ,whether that me day or night, the battery will always deplete. I decided to run a test at night where I had Greenify (un-rooted mode): hibernate all apps; aggressive doze=on; automated hibernation=on; alternate screen off mode=on;Don't remove notifications(limited)=on. I also had wifi off, location off, airplane mode on, power saving mode enabled, bluetooth off, mobile data off, nfc off and sync off. Only notification apps that were running where lastpass fill helper, finger security and pixoff battery saver.
So I charged my phone up to 100% last night and left it on sleep at 11:06PM. I woke up at 8:58PM only to see my battery had depleted to 63%. This gives an overall depletion rate of 3.75%/hour [(100-63)/(9.86666 hours)]. I don't know what the problem is as my mum's samsung s7 edge only loses 1% overnight and the phone has wifi, sync, cell, all on.
I can't send my battery usage details because of the XDA spam message thing but the battery usage only says Device Idle 100%
