Phone screen awake slow - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

Hello dear XDA guys ,
Sometimes the touch sensor doesn't work, but when pressing the power button the screen lights up and turns off normally, but the touch ID sensor doesn't respond, also can't lift up the screen to pattern unlock.
After maybe 30 seconds or 1 minute the phone wakes and repeats all the taps I made until this moment.
Also, sometimes when in call I take the phone away from my ear but the screen won't light up until 10 seconds or so..
I'll mention that after restarting the phone, the issue disappears for 1 or 2 days until it's suddenly returns.
Worth mentioning that after this incident happens, the battery drain is much higher than normal!

bump
anyone seem to find this issue familiar?

Sounds like a malicious app, try checking your battery stats and apps for anything unusual.

Hi! already did, "Android System" Takes the most (40%) - and of course after a restart it gets back to normal (about 18%)
nothing suspicious besides that..

Perform a factory reset.
The issue should be gone, install apps that are out of the ordinary later and test to see if that's when the issue comes back.
Alternatively try something like Gsam

This may be similar to the freezing people are reporting

I have a NEON300, in other words, the US version with 20 key and US 3G. The problem I experience once in a while is sort of like the freezing people are mentioning. When mine freezes, or at least when I finally notice it has frozen, I get a blinking green or yellow LED, the phone is warm, and my battery is almost dead. Almost like I was on a call for 2 hours but I wasn't. The unit will not respond to any buttons or anything. The only way to wake it up is to pull the battery and restart. Then it works fine again for about a week. Has anyone else had this issue and possibly found a fix? Thanks.
I've had my US Dual for about a week now and I've had mine freeze at least twice. The LED's are normal, but the screen and buttons are non-responsive. The reset button under the battery cover does work and it resets fine and works. It seems to happen to me when I'm browsing the web.
I've got the US 20 key version with SPB mobile shell and the diamond theme running. Mine seems to freeze about 1-3 times per day. The led lights are still blinking but none of the buttons work or opening the phone. I have to to a soft reset with the stylus and then everything is back to normal...
It only does this when it powers down, i.e. auto sleep, then it won't wake back up.
No fix that I know of.
What a BS problem to have. I hope HTC comes out with a fix for this. I don't know about your guy's phones but mine gets warm and the battery drains for some reason. Maybe I will uninstall all of the 3rd party apps and see how that goes.

[4.5.91] Anyone seen this weird crash?

It's pretty odd. What happens is I leave my phone in my pocket for a while. Eventually, seemingly through no effort of my own, I'll pull it out and it will be almost literally on fire. When I wake the screen up, I can see I have no cell connection, the battery is almost dead, and no services seem to be showing in the notification bar. Then, I unlock my screen, and there are a bunch of crash dialogs showing. Typically the one on top is that the Market has crashed and must be force closed. There are about 8 of these dialogs and as soon as I close them all, my phone reboots. After rebooting, I am in the same state. No services started and a pile of dialogs after unlocking, I have to pull the battery for several minutes to let the phone cool down, then when I start it back up it sits at the Rethinking Possible screen for almost 5 minutes and afterwards my phone is working normally aside from needing a charge.
Has anyone else seen this problem??
i think you should try factory wipe.
if no luck then flash it with gingerbread .

Reset to factory, call moto and request a new battery just in case. The battery should be free if you are still under warranty and they even pay for shipping.

Random shutdowns?

Has anybody experienced random shutdowns on their N4? It's happened twice now for me in the last few days. I'll go to turn on the screen and find that the phone is completely shut down and needs powered back up, without me having shut the phone down.
One strange thing associated with this is that it completely wipes my battery stats.
Please provide more information.
Stock? Unlocked? Rooted? Custom rom? Custome kernel? Undervolted?

Sorry, stock rooted. Both times happened when there was plenty of juice left in the battery, this morning when it happened I was still at 95%.

Are you sure it's actually shutting down?
The reason I ask is that there's an issue where the screen won't wake up, but the phone is still functional (can still hear notifications and feel vibrations etc.). It looks like it's shut down, but it actually isn't.
If so then I believe it's a known issue, even on the stock (unrooted) rom. It happens to me every now and then, and as far as I know it needs a hard reboot to fix (hold down the power button for 10 seconds).
Don't know what you mean by wiping your battery stats? A reboot would do that anyway, wouldn't it?

There's a video on youtube showing how this phone just shuts down after running a benchmark for long enough (that was about 10 minutes at normal room temperature..)
Could it be that your phone was doing something in the background, and because of the overheating issues that it has, it just shut down to prevent damage?

I wasn't doing anything significant right before hand. The last things I did were: checked Facebook, modified a Tasker profile, and swiped away a couple apps from the recent apps screen. Phone was cool to the touch. I was in the basement with no cell coverage (wifi connected), then moved upstairs and next time I tried to turn on the screen the phone was powered off.

No it was shut down, had to hold down the power button for 2 seconds to boot it, felt the boot vibration and saw the boot animation. This happened after being off charger for about 2 hours, but upon booting the battery screen showed on battery for 1 minute. Usually when I reboot the "on battery" time is preserved.

Is there a fix for the screen not waking? I'm still on 4.2(stock and rooted), does 4.2.1 fix it? I can't seem to update to 4.2.1, if it does fix it. But that's another issue...
Ya know I'm starting to think it may be my belt holster that's somehow shutting down the phone. This is the first day of my new holster and now the phone has shut itself down 3 times, each time I've noticed it after pulling it from the holster.

I only had N$ for 3 days.
Yesterday when I was taking a picture, camera app was running, while I was putting kids together phone screen went black. Only way to bring it back was to hold power button and it went through full boot up cycle, so I would say it did shut down on me.
Stock, no root, updated to the 4.2.1. Battery was between 50 and 75% and it did not wipe it's stats.

Oh man that's gotta suck. Worst moment possible. Mine has shut down as well several times.
I find that my phone likes to randomly reboot when using bluetooth. May be a coincidence or not. At times the widget toggle for bluetooth stops working too, so there's something going on with bluetooth. My bluetooth problems documented here:

Does anybody know a sequence of button pushes that will shut down the device? I know holding power for 10 seconds causes a reset, but is there a combination of button pushes that initiates shutdown?

If you hold just power button it should bring a popup with Power Off option, which is a standard for most Android phones.

I have the same issue recently. I've used nexus 4 for 1 month, this issue just occurred recently. it shutdown without any notice. I've drop my phone once, cracking its glass back, but it doesn't seem to relate to that issue. I guess maybe this is some software problem.

Screen Stays Awake

Hi,
The screen on my Nexus 4 has started to stay awake. I've noticed my battery drain a lot quicker over the last couple of days and I also noticed that every time I pulled my phone out the screen was lit so I've taken it out and watched it. It just stays awake all the time. If I turn the screen off the minute a message or anything comes in the screen wakes and stays awake so near impossible to keep it off for any length of time.
I do have the developer screen enabled and had stay awake whilst charging option enabled. I disabled that to make sure that this wasn't causing the screen to stay awake thinking it was somehow on the charger when it wasn't however the problem persists even with that option unchecked.
I have the screen timeout in display set to 30 secs.
Anybody else experiencing this or no how to solve?
The phone is stock and unrooted though I plan on rooting later today.

Does it stay awake but go very dim? I have this issue too.
can it be caused by the screen protector blocking the light sensor somehow?
Can you install BBS (BetterBatteryStats) and see what's keeping your phone awake?
Sounds like a FULL_WAKE_LOCK is constantly being imposed on your phone.
Questions
Is it only when you put it for 30s?
What's around your pocket when you put your phone in it?
Do you have any attachments onto your phone? e.g. skin protectors, cases...etc
Does this occur on any screen or just your home screen and the developer options screen?
Though some questions may be obvious, the best method is to be thorough with the situation. Answering these questions will help us better help you.
My phone shut itself down about an hour ago (plenty of battery left as I had to charge it earlier and was at 50% when it did come back on). It took several minutes before it would respond to getting turned back on again. I've got 2 messages since and the screen is now tuning off as it should. I had turned the phone off a few times to see if it rectified yesterday however that didn't work.
The problems wasn't anything to do with me having it in my pocket as the problem still existed when I had it sitting on my desk. I have no screen protectors or case and I never put it in any pocket that has anything else in it as I don't want to ruin too quickly.
So not sure what's going. All seems very odd. Hopefully not a sign that the phone is on the way out but looks ok for now. Will have to watch and see what happens over the next few days.
Thanks to all who took the time to respond. Hopefully I won't need to bother you again on this issue but not convinced just yet

[Q] Stock N10 frequent random shutdowns

My problem is a little different from what I've mostly read. I use my N10 about an hour a day, then let it sit for 23 hours. About half the time when I turn the screen on, I find that it shut itself down at some point. Sometimes there's no notification light, and sometimes the notification light is actually blinking (weird).
I turn it back on, it boots up, life is good. It doesn't freeze while in use. It also doesn't keep time well. Between the time and the shutdowns I can't use it for an alarm, which would be nice.
Anyway, should I try to return it, reset it to factory defaults (I believe I did this a couple months ago), or is this normal?

Sounds like the problem I worked on for two months, commonly called sleep-of-death. I ended up RMAing mine, and the new unit did not have this problem. I suggest you RMA, even though its a bit of a hassle.
do you have to hold the power button longer than usual? typically with sod the unit is on (hence the notification light) but will not wake the screen. have you tried a factory reset? checking for any rogue apps? downloading a new image from Google and flashing it may do the trick as well.
