Hi, I have a dilema. I´m from Spain, and I bought yesterday a Samsung galaxy s8 EU versión (with exynos), but when I started to test it, I saw that the dolphin emulator didn´t work. Now I have a dilema, I have the option of change it to the US variant, but I don´t know if that´s the best option. What are the advantages of the Snapdragon and the Exynos? Should I stay with the Exynos variant o change it for the Snapdragon versión? Dolphin emulator is the only Snapdragon advantage or is also better for a posible LineageOS? Do you think Dolphin will work on Exynos variant? I´m still on time to change the phone, please help me.

I know S8 Snapdragon has better battery life, but S8 Exynos is way better for rooting. I know US Snapdragon S8 has UFS 2.0 and US Snapdragoon S8+ has UFS 2.1; UFS 2.1 is something around 300MB/s faster read than UFS 2.0 comparing between S8 variants. If you do get a US Snapdragon variant, get the S8+ due to UFS 2.1; but, just know that you likely won't be able to root US Snapdragon as easily, etc.
From https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/ufs-2-0-2-1-identify-flash-chip-s8-t3601656

All Exynos Models -> S8 / S8+
Toshiba UFS 2.1:
Snapdragon Model -> S8+ ONLY.

Also, I've used LineageOS 7.1.1 on Samsung's old Galaxy Note 5 and it cannot begin to compare to S8+ Samsung Experience Nougat in terms of aesthetics; however, I have to add that I never modified the look of LineageOS 7.1.1 and there might be settings, themes and mods that make it look much better than when freshly installed. Plus, Exynos drivers for LineageOS/AOSP are never going to be as optimized as stock from what I've read, because Samsung does not reveal Exynos source (if I'm not mistaken). Everyone has their preferences, but I think Samsung Experience Nougat for Galaxy S8+ is the best looking Android version I have heretofore seen!
only asking about Dolphin and exynos or Snapdragon, nothing else.
He is not asking about rooting, he is inquiring which is best to play Dolphin, which is what I want myself or I would just get some other crappy phone: I have the s6 active - its exynos too I think? (note: never upgrade your s6 active past lollipop or you lose ability to play dolphin- graphics driver update destroys the driver) but it still plays all the other stuff just fine so meh! . From what I know and have watched on YouTube and for some reason the s7 exynos performs better because of the multicore and hard stats say the s7 snapdragon is hands down best but that's on single core applications which is an antutu bench fact it beats the exynos from like 1,800 is to snaps 2,300 on single core and its reverse for multicore processes scoring for the s7 which seems to be opposite for the s8 - oh my spinning head For the s7 exynos it is clearly better for emulation I would say exynos but for regular games the snap I assume s8 chips should be of a similar deal? so I guess go on YouTube and watch some dolphin vids to compare and get a little visual info on it. I have been looking at an s7 myself because I cant quite afford the s8- so I may wait another year myself (the s7 exynos is 120-180$) more than the snap just look on eBay - ridiculous) but the videos i compared show the s7 820 snapdragon struggle to play windwaker whilst the exynos ran WW smooth like butter but other games did not perform as well as my s6 active did before I unknowingly upgraded to mm then hoping to fix it I upgraded to nougat now no dolphin period! - yeah . If you want dolphin u might try the s6? Mine used to play most games very well. really pisses me off too. Id like to know myself so would one of the head honchos like to pipe up on the s8 for strictly dolphin performance or even the much cheaper s7 for "dolphin" and nothing else please. -hence the title of the thread oh , ad thank you in advance

Hai guys,
I want to buy Samsung GALAXY Note 3. Im coming from S3 (with Exynos processor). I want to know which version is better? Exynos or Snapdragon? Samsung sellers say that Exynos is much better than Snapdragon, but from all other medias, such as internet and youtube, say Snapdragon is better. So im confused.. Please tell me the truth. Hope you will help me...
Thanks
Snapdragon
Buy the snapdragon one .
If u love custom roms and rooting stuff which I think you love ......
Otherwise you would be well off with either of them..

Thanks mate. How about the performance? Incase of laggy, or something like problems..?
Haven't had a Exynos device, but never had a problem with Snapdragon. Awesome processors.

Performance is smooth. Apps load up quick... Ram usage about 1.7 GB out of 2.3 GB even in the heavy load scenario..... Even the mighty touchwiz can't slow it down ....
Personally I have the Exynos one and I am crying because it has no custom rom...:crying:
What i've read, does Snapdragon version have some fast charging that Exynos doesn't, so you'll charge your phone a lot faster? At least my Snapdragon device really charges very fast with stock charger. Also what i've seen, Exynos development is much slower than Snapdragon on Sammy's phones / tablets.
And again, what I have read from the web, Exynos devices have had problems that Snapdragon doesnt, just can't name any of them. Lol.
[OT] Same thing with Note Pro 12.2 (which is basically Note 3 but bigger in size, or is it?). Snapdragon owners have had no problems while Exynos owners have some kind of BSOD, heating problems, screen problems and lags while gaming. [/OT]
So I'll never buy an Exynos one, but thats just me

Thank you guys. From all of your reviews, I'm deciding to buy a Snapdragon one
guys i was linked to here so i ask again here
guys, i was looking for a new device and came to note 4, but isee there 2 versions Snapdragon and Exynos
these benchmarks are old and since we are like nearly a year further since release in my country witch should i get of the 2
most ppl voted for the Exynos ver on this forum but i dont go read like 200+ posts,
what i want to do wit hthe device
gaming,
watching anime 10bit h264 / h265 mkv/flac
custom firmware something like archidroid witch i used on s3
help me out abit , the on paper reviews dont say everything its more about true phone power, stability, laggless, ofc speed to
as far as ive seen reviews , snapdragon is best in gpu depending stuff while Exynos does the multi process/task stuff but those revies are from 2014 dunno if anything has changed with the firmwares and so
What would have changed? It's simple, snapdragon for better fps and custom roms or exynos for better multitasking and lower temps but no CM for now (although there is a dev working on it). Don't depend on benchmarks, the differences are minor when it comes to performance.
you forget to mentions 32/64 bit
Hi may I ask whats the difference between GALAXY NOTE 4 (EXYNOS) or GALAXY NOTE 4 (SNAPDRAGON)????????
Which one is the better version to buy?
Two are with different chipset, two different processors, both CPU and GPU. Some might say Exynos is faster in benchmarks and all, and its true too, but Snapdragon is the one with better XDA support I think. So choose according to your preference.
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Sams...marks-Snapdragon-805-vs-Exynos-7-Octa_id63111
can any one else comment on this which has better for xda support?
Which one has android 6?
I see alot support for Snapdragon but what about the N910F this has dual sim not sure if its has alot support here.
NERVERMIND LOL
I have owned both. The difference I noticed was the F version ran hotter and the battery did not last as long as the C version. I am now using N910C.
It is generally mentioned that the F version had more rom and kernels because it has snapdragon processor. I never rooted my device yet as I use Knox, so I cannot comment on dev. support. You can browse the subforums and see for yourself. Good luck.
Snapdragon by far. Just look at the development section as far as custom roms go. Way more selections for snapdragon
Hey everyone. In a matter of days im going to buy my new galaxy s7 edge. Reading online articles about they differences i became confused on my choice. My main concern is the difference in GPU (its reported that snapdragon performed 30% better ) . is there any difference when it comes to rooting and customizability?
Can you give your opinion on their differences and what choice do you suggest? Thanks in advice
P.s..: i hope this isnt a duplicate
I have Exynos version. Played asphalt 8 for a while, no lag what so ever, it barely got warm. Yhat gpu difference is overrated, atleast until vulkan API gets implemented. Wouldnt exchange mine for anything
If you can buy the Exynos variant and it's compatible with your network, I don't see why you'd even think about the Snapdragon.
Why?
Battery life: http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_gal...ife_both_exynos_and_snapdragon-blog-17325.php
And speed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=233f0ewFWGk
Snapdragon cannot be rooted.
Snapdragon variant is LOCKED - you cannot root. If you want root - buy the Exynos version
thanks. thats what i was looking for
The difference isn't as big this year compared to years past, they are both similar in performance. That said, I'm leaning towards the Exynos just because of how much of a pain in the butt it was with rooting the Snapdragon model. Exynos was easy to root but the Snapdragon only got root because of a leak and it was unstable and laggy.
You are asking which one is better for a phone that isn't out for another 2.5 weeks?? And you can't say they are similar in performance based purely on a spec sheet! The spec sheet shows the exynos able to do 120fps at 4k, but it can't because the camera itself cannot perform at that speed so its still limited to 30 despite the exynos chip being capable of it.
Both SoCs and GPUs are too new to make any assumptions. Here's an article discussing S-835 on a Qualcomm reference device. It underperforms S-820/1 in certain benchmarks. http://www.anandtech.com/show/11201/qualcomm-snapdragon-835-performance-preview. Architecturally the new Mali GPU is superior to Adreno. What features Samsung implements and how they implement them is a wild card. When Samsung uses two SoCs in the same phone they typically tune them to be comparable as was the case in the S7-series even though Exynos did seem to have an edge. To an average user they wouldn't be able to tell the difference between an Exynos and S-835 equipped S8.
I've said this a couple of times in other threads. Exynos 8895 has new chip-based h/w security never before seen in an Exynos chip. Until its in people's hands it's dangerous to assume previous bootloader exploits will work the same way they did previously.
One difference that the Exynos seems to have but not sure how many people will notice. On the Samsung website and a couple other carrier sites state that the device the UK is getting only has Bluetooth 4 and not the newer Bluetooth 5 that the US and snapdragon market are getting. Wonder what other differences there are that aren't being advertised.
International versions getting a different version of BT doesn't make a lot of sense. They hyped being able to support two headphones connected at the same time during the unveiling which requires BT 5.0. I don't think they would have done that if the majority of the world wasn't receiving the feature. Carrier websites aren't particularly accurate.
You may have missed that part where I said it's shown on the Samsung website too. In the U.K it's showing as BT 4.2 LE. It's possible that the new BT 5.0 isn't compatible with the Exynos chip for some reason or just not optomised to work well together yet. Also that launch was predominantly geared towards the US market as almost no information regarding the international versions was spoken about on stage.

I am pretty certain thats a mistake, there are mistakes over the web on the phone specifications. The global S8 specifications say Bluetooth 5.0
"Exynos 8895 has new chip-based h/w security never before seen in an Exynos chip."
What EXACTLY does that mean. Because whenever I read or hear term, "security" it raises eyebrows. This is umbrella terminology for those in a state of fear requiring reassurance, but to those who don't carry around such weighted down impedances it would be interesting to know exactly what is implied here.
Yeah the specs are all over the place at the moment. I'm putting a tiny bit more weight behind what is on the official Samsung UK website that my pre-order leads me to which is saying it has BT 4.2. But one UK carrier (EE) is claiming it has Snapdragon 835, and another carrier (Three) is claiming BT 4.0 so nobody seems to be on the same page in the UK. Anyway I'll know for certain next week as my pre-order is arriving 20 April.

Samsung offers with the new S-Class for the first time in a smartphone Bluetooth 5.0, which is integrated both in the version with Snapdragon 835, as well as with Exynos 8895-SOC."

The Exynos is roughly 10% faster in single core and multi-core than the snapdragon (Geekbench, above video). You would hardly see a difference in most day to day use as both are pretty fast.
But the Exynos 'Mid Power Saver' which downclocks the CPU gives you the same performance as the the 835, so the exynos would obviously be better as you can have the same performance with more battery life (assuming it does save power)
My Exynos Edge 7 plus did not suffer any slow down over time while Snapdragon version crawled to a stop
I've had my Snapdragon S7 Edge since they were first released. My phone is still working great. It has nowhere crawled to a stop. Maybe for some reason some of the Snapdragon S7's slowed down but mine certainly hasn't. As a matter of fact the only reason I'm getting a S8 is because my S7 Edge has an over sensitive screen. If that wasn't an issue I would keep it for at least another year. There is no way I would do that if it slowed to a crawl.
Exynos Should always be in theory. It's in house processor and Samsung can do what they want and how they want with the software. So it should always be better optimized as you know exactly every aspect of the hardware.
