Hi everyone,
I'm new here even I look to this huge forum many time to solve problem with different phone in the past. Right now I'm using a Samsung Galaxy SMJ320A unlocked. I'll buy it unlocked.
Until now I'd never use hotspot or tethering by usb, but few days ago I'll try to share my connection with my pc. The carrier, Vodafone, confirm me that hotspot can be used without problem. I confirm that using my SIM card on another phone with hotspot and tethering. It just my galaxy that have router Wi-Fi and tethering option stuck disabled. I mean, when I try to move the slide of those option from disabled to enable it just immiadetely come back to disabled.
I'll already perform soft reset, hard reset, start at safe mode, but nothing change.
So if anyone had advice on how I can solve that will be great. For solution using computer method, I have Linux OS in my computer, so please no solution using Windows, I can't.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Update
I also reinstalled the original firmware using heimdall in Linux. But nothing change.
Another doubt it's about the fact that in the hidden menu on the top, I meanthe menu you open sliding dowm from the top, the mobile data and hltspot icon are not present at all and I can't add them, cause when I touch the top right gear on the menu, it bring me directly to the main setting menu, no chance to add new icon. I just can change the order of the one already present. Any advice about that?

dear all,
I cannot anymore enable WLAN on my galaxy...
Yesterday everything worked fine, I have nothing installed since then.
After enabling WLAN, the icon remains green for a few seconds, but no icons is shown in the status bar.
I also switched off an on the phone -> did not help
my phone is not rooted and the official fw is installed.
I have not reflashed the phone yet (hopefully there is another solution)
Thanks for your help
Do you have a wi-fi access point defined? Maybe the wi-fi is connected and you didnt choose an access point...

yes, I also tried this, but as long WLAN is not enabled I cannot define a new network.
when i enable WLAN in the settings, the status is saying, that WLAN is switching on, scanning is starting, but then a message appears that the scanning is not possible and a few moments later WLAN is disabled.
I had the same problem.
I was trying to configure a invisible ssid and by distraction I created a normal WPA 2 network, ending up with two networks with the same ssid (when I was turning off the wifi, it wouldn't go off at the first try, weird, )
You may try this:
Edit the "/data/wifi/bcm_supp.conf" (with root permission) and eliminate the duplicated network, problem solved! At least in my case (no need for factory reset ). Or try to find something strange on that file, in last resort you can delete all the networks, it may solve your problem.
Hard reset helped for me in similar situation.

Bought my Galaxy yesterday and it works fine but on one point. Yesterday I was able to find the home network of my friend in his house. I could connect to the internet with that as well as through 3g. But later at my place it does not work with any home network. When I try Settings, Wireless and network, Wi-Fi settings and Wi-Fi, the phone turns on Wi-Fi and scans for some seconds and the leaves a message that says "Unable to scan networks".
Maybe I have switched on or off something accidentally as I am a new user on this phone? Anyone for help?
turn off the phone
then turn it back on
in another words, reboot your phone, seems like it got stuck in some WiFi bug
It does not seem to help. I even took out the battery. Still unable to to scan
you can try this
*2767*3855# WARNING! FACTORY DATA WIPE AND RESET as soon as you enter the last # use it only if you want to clean wipe your phone

I really don't want that as long as I also cannot backup the video in it. Have not got the Kies program to recognize the phone yet.
Maybe there is another way to set the scan possibility?

you don't need kies
see the last secret code?
It defaults to User space. I do not yet have any extra Micro SD card. Is it that what means with User space?
Tried that last command and do have at least one file of each in the folders, but the phone answers for each of them that the files are not ready? What else is there to be done?
Had same problem, tried factory reset... didn't solve it. any ideas? it can't get an ip address and it used to work
probably the next best thing is to use Odin to reflash the modem file to the phone
or a full flash to the latest firmware
Same problem appeared on my SGS. Boy this sucks. The wifi became "hard" to connect sometimes. Or I could connect but had no internet access. Then I disconnect and connect several times to have net access.
One hour ago the wifi died. I turn it on it says "Unable to search for networks" and shuts itself off.
WTF. I have to reflash!!!! Not good. Also I don't know what caused this. I'm on JM2 with One Click Lag fix 2.1
one thing is for sure, the STOCK rom has no problem with that
so it is either a Router thing, or a firmware specific problem

JM2 isn't a final release firmware. Realistically, if you want everything (well, other than GPS) to "just work", stick to official firmware.
Well, I for one, have only the the official firmware and it is the latest one what I have learned. Still the phone behaves as in my original post after just a couple of hours. Is this and other peoples beautiful Samsung Galaxy model not tested enough by Samsung? Has anyone more information than we have?

I agree thats Help me. or you can try upload update.zip (file to make root) on your device and flash that can help too.
Hi all! Thank you for your inputs to my problem. I have now got it working. For those who are interested how, I can tell you that I only did a simple Factory Reset command.
problem solved!

Creating a new topic, because the other one is tagged as solved, but it doesnt solve my problem however.
So my wifi is not working, it's connecting to any wifi hotspot but not sending data thru that, which ends in failing loading any pages on IE, cannot download any apps from market and so on...
Anyway this is what I tried so far:
1. Flashed to stock rogers (also tried different Tango roms)
2. Did hard reset procedure via hardware keys (Format all Yes)
3. Did hard reset procedure via About menu
4. Did hard reset procedure via Samsung Diagnosis code sequence
5. Logged to my wifi network, everything looks fine at this point.
6. Opened IE and entered google.com:
"We're having trouble connecting to this webpage" (sometimes no error message but white page with scrolling bars appearing on touch)
7. Tried to access my wifi router via IP address (192.168.1.1) - the same results like above
8. Tried to ping my Samsung Fous IP (192.168.1.18) from my PC with success
9. Disabled wifi network security on home wifi router, the Focus still not working
Additionaly tried a method that fix issues with wifi after using latest wp7 tools, but it didnt help at all.
When using my providers APN there is no problem with opening pages on IE etc., but it's not Wifi.... Internet is also working if I have USB cable plugged in, but again it's not wifi.
Cannot use warranty, the phone is from the USA and I'm in Europe... without any warranty service.
What else I can do, maybe there are some diagnosis codes that can actually help with real diagnosis on what happened with wifi on my phone?
Hello again (from the other thread). For completeness, add the following:
- current OS version
- did/not use WindowBreak
- when did the problem start (if you can identify an event and OS version/revision) - or you noticed
There might be a test for wireless in the "diagnosis codes"... Good luck!
After you use the diagnosis fix, it might take some time, mine didn't work immediately but after some time, it detected my home network. But it seems you are able to connect but internet does not work, this is certainly issue with router/DNS settings in your phone, because I have faced these problems in iPhone, it might wrongly mapped to unreachable ip, but never faced this issue in Windows Phone, you might try changing the default gateway/dns settings, you should also reset your modem/router, and try basic setup before WPA/WPA2 setup

Hi there
Currently using 7.10.8773.98, (MAGLDR 2.0) but tried different versions, even vanilla pre-mango ones, they didnt work well with wifi on my phone either. I checked it at friends home wifi, which is totaly different network and routers.
I never used WindowBreak, never had to because my phone was already unlocked long time ago with ChevronWP7 application.
Noticed the problem about 2 weeks ago, but I didnt use wifi too much, so it could started much earlier. Last installed application was WP7 Tools 0.8 alpha, and all I did back then was using some built-in tweaks (3G?) if there is any, cant remember to be honest but for sure I wasnt editing registry or anything like that, I just play some games from time to time, cant event tell why I installed it, maybe because I noticed there is a new version. I cant tell because I never paid attention to it especially with rare wifi usage at a time.
I have isolated the problem I guess, and it's not the phone's fault. Something wrong with the main access point (Mikrotik) at my place. This is weird because everything is working just not on Samsung Focus. I digged thru many options and couldnt find anything that blocked or stuff like that. Well took it to totaly different place and another wifi network, and guess what - it's connecting to wifi with data flow...
Anyway consider this topic as solved.
A while back, I tried to remap my keys to restore the old menu/recent programs behaviour by editing my generic.kl file. Since then, I have been unable to connect to my mobile data network, despite my wifi working flawlessly. I can connect with another device and the same SIM, so I know it's the device and not the service. The device is (obviously) rooted, and I've gone through a factory reset with no change. Everything else on the device now works as expected, but it is, of course, of rather limited use to me without the mobile networking operational (this is, after all, its most common function). I'm wondering whether I might have potentially corrupted, deleted, or changed permissions for another file without realizing it while going through the keymap fiasco?
After giving up on this device some time ago, I stumbled across the solution today while doing something else. Apparently, these settings were lost. I'm posting the solution here in case anyone else has this problem later.
Go to settings -> more networks -> mobile networks - > access point names
enter the values provided at this link. Add a new access point if none present.

Thanks man this post fixed my phone. Just bought it from some people who "forgot" to mention it couldn't connect to the network.
great.. it really works. thanks alot. May God bless you.
I have a Samung Galaxy S4, GT-I9505, Android Version 7.1.2, using LineageOS 14.1-20180309-NIGHTLY-jfltexx. Baseband version: I9505XXSPQA1. Kernel version 3.4.112-Lineage-ge8d93e0
It has worked fine for months. But on the 1st of July, while a friend was borrowing it, it was all of a sudden unable to see any wifi networks. My friend doesn't know what he did to it as he was just trying to connect his wifi. Now I can't find ANY wifi networks. None at all! All other devices in the house can find and connect to wifi networks and to the home wifi network.
I've tried the following:
1) Restarting the phone
2) Turning on airplane mode and looking for wifi networks.
3) Restarting the router
4) Factory resetting the phone
5) Flashing the same Lineage OS version from the SD card using TWRP.
6) Removing the battery for 1 minute and putting it back in and restarting the phone.
What happens normally?
I go into wifi settings by pressing and holding down on the wifi icon in the notification tray. When I get there, there is a blue moving bar near the top which makes it seem as if it is searching for a network. I still attempt to turn on the wifi using the switch to the top right. There's a message in the middle of the screen saying "Turning Wi-Fi on …" And then it searches and searches. Eventually the "on" and the wifi switch get greyed out and are unresponsive to any touch, but there is a moving blue bar just under it that makes it seem as if it is still searching, but it sees none. If I wait long enough and the phone screen times out and I turn it back on, in wifi settings, at the top it says "off" but the blue bar under it is still moving as if it is searching. If I press the switch, the same thing happens.
If I got into "Configure Wifi" the MAC address is set to 02:00:00:00:00:00 and the IP address is "Unavailable".
Doing all this gives me the impression that it is a hardware issue, not a software one.
But I'm wondering if there are any solutions that I haven't tried, or is there agreement that it is most likely a hardware issue.
My wife took it to a local market to see if they could fix it. The guy went to the TWRP app that was installed and claimed that somehow it had been used to delete the wifi software. It didn't seem right or likely. I don't think he knew what he was talking about.
Can anyone help at all please?
get a new phone lol serranoltexx is old
@amenyahu
Hello, If you have any FULL Backup include EFS, preload etc. Restore. If you don't have backup, you can try flash STOCK ROM using for ex. samfirm - https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647
Also you can use one of thread https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/...-02-00-00-00-00-00-after-3-5-5-update.480733/
Let me know if there is any progress.
