Looking for a way to make my device back to stock. - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

Hello ,
I own a G935A. I flashed the G935U firmware (G935UUEU4APL4) but OTA's won't work. By won't work i mean, it downloads the latest update but during the installation it fails at 32%.
Since the G935U firmware is not the original that the phone came with. I am thinking of switching back to G935A but i did not note before i change to U firmware the original firmware i had exactly. I tried to flash several G935A firmwares with no luck. Kinda messed up
Goal basicly is to stabilise the phone in a OTA enviroment, so i can unlock it too.
If someone could give me a helping hand i would be really thankful.
Thanks !
P.S Sorry if i am in the wrong section or something. Not intentional.

You can go back to the AT&T firmware the same way you got the U firmware on there. Look for the Odin installable archive. However, you might consider clearing cache in your recovery before doing that, as switching back usually means a factory reset. Also, make sure you have enough free space in internal storage for the archive to decompress.

Any suggestions as to which G935A firmware to pick ? tried several and they were failing during install on odin

https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-s7-edge/how-to/stock-firmware-935a-att-t3410887
Note that you must use the version of Odin in the link. (I'm really not sure why, but things are finickier these days)

use this one. this is 100% stock AT&T firmware. Just make sure you have OEM unlock and usb debugging on in Development in settings.

Good call, though I could have sworn that is where I pulled the A firmware when I was trying to unroot.
Anyway, I was wrong, and NorBarb is the official A firmware guru.

Thanks a lot for the answers, i really appreciate it.
I will be checking it out in a bit. Hopefully it all works out.
Edit: It all woked out great, thanks again for the info!

Factory Reset To sell phone on LPY Firmware

I have been reading about the issues with this phone and I have just decided to sell mine since I dont think even if I root and go back to GB its going to fix poor speaker quality on this phone. So I just want to make sure before I do anything. It seems that doing factory reset on this phone with the Lpy firmware is a big iffy no no maybe giving me a brick? Im just not wanting to waste time to have to odin and possibly root to get the phone reset so I can sell it but maybe I will have to?? Thanks in advance

Flash stock Gingerbread and then factory reset.
Yes... you'll have to use Odin.
Thanks for that, but what stock gb? theres all these diff versions see- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1530501
Then I had a thought. What if I just simply go change my csc code again Ive done that once with no issue and that wipes the phone as well. Probably the easiest. It just seems to risky to try and odin anything.
Thanks
odin is the safest.. check for your country name in the list and download the gb rom then flash it through odin so simple

I had changed csc myself but there's no proof that it does not trigger the bug. It could be possible that both factory reset and changing csc work the same way.
Safest way I would suggest is to flash original GB - factory reset.
Just do not select repartition or bootloader or pit in pc odin.

Odin-compatible G900AUCU4BOF2 stock rom?

Hi, I'm stupid and bricked my phone.
I had rooted almost immediately after getting my phone, AT&T SM-G900A, and had no problems.
Used FlashFire to apply the 5.0 pre-rooted stock rom (OC4), and had no problems.
Decided today to use SuperSU's "Full Unroot" function, rebooted, and now I can't get past the AT&T logo on boot. And apparently even after that the phone is still rooted.
Tried the G900AUCU3BOC4-OneClick.exe Odin flasher, but it fails and I get "sw rev check fail [aboot]: fused 4 > binary 3" which from what I understand means I am trying to install a rom version that is older than the one I currently have.
Looked on the internet to see if there is any Odin-compatible tar.md5 file for the newer versions, hoping one of those would let me update. However, I can only find .zip files made by muniz_ri. Tried copying those to my microSD card and install through recovery, but it fails with "invalid header". It looks like those zip files only work with FlashFire, which I can't even get to anymore because I can't boot.
Is there a floating copy of one of the newer stock roms (can be unrooted, I don't care) that I can flash with Odin? Or is there another secret I am missing? I have been through dozens of threads here on the forums and they all seem to have a solution that just give me any results.
Thanks for any help!

PS: I guess I have to use the Philz and odin.. but can anybody tellme complete procedure. I wana completely delete cache, partitions etc etc.. that is needed.
Also, if I use this method how to upload to the phone the actual Official OS? I know it can be downloaded via sammobile but is it possible to DL from Kies and upload via odin ?
UPDATE: Well, can you please tellme how can I erase cache/dalvik cache/partition from my current stock recovery (using Lollipop 5.1.1)
Yes, download an official firmware from Samsungupdates.com or sammobile, flash it through odin and then boot into recovery and clear data and format system.

Hi. I am new here and it seems that you know a lot about this subject. A couple days ago, I went to the samsungupdates site and during the download, it tried to overtake my browser and came up with that "you have a virus, call this number....". I cleaned that malware out and now I hear that Odin is loaded with malware also? Any advice on where to download roms and Odin that are safe? Thanks in advance. Have a great day : )

Haha yeah I do have a lot of experience with that since I downloaded many firmwares and also roms. As for that virus thing It is just an Ad, don't worry about it I have downloaded firmwares from Samsunhupdates many times. If you don't like it Go ahead with Sam mobile. Once you download the firmware things will be very simple. But remember download the firmware for the country that you are in, for an example if you are in the middle east download XSG ...etc Just download an app called Samsung info From playstore and it will tell you what your CSC code is (country code For firmware) okay. Once you download the firmware tell me, so that I can guide you step by step.

Here is a step by step guide to flash a stock firmware using odin
http://www.droidviews.com/install-stock-firmware-on-samsung-galaxy-devices-using-odin/
Once you flash the firmware, go ahead and boot into recovery, it should take you to the original recovery, not philz or cwm, the original recovery. Once you open it, go ahead and format And clear Your data along side the cache.
Ps: you will lose EVERYTHING that is on Your phone, but that's what you want right?
Goodluck!

Its simple - But then instead of answering this you are here to insult me... well, guess too much free time OR angry with your family & GF !?

Mate, my phone is facing extreme lags and slowdowns after upgrading to Lollipop via kies.
Now this thing have happened in my old Note 1 with JB as well....
All-in-All, till I don't delete cache, dalvik and partition and reflash the firmware this problem aint gona solve 100% and hence want to use anything like TWRP etc.. to wipe tht first, but I had completely forgotten how I had done last time. BTW, after deleting the said phone cache etc.. I can directly rebot my phone go to odin and flash?
PS: I am still looking how 2 install twrp and under which menu I can find all those options - Gimme sum time to figure this out.
In some instances, stock recovery will go a better job of wiping the phone.

Here try these four file ! Don't use the fifth file if your not on Sprint it not needed in most cases !
This works to get you back to stock from bootloop. I tried my hand at rooting this little SOB (TWRP,Magisk) and tripped the Knox counter bc I forgot to wipe it. Reboot came up with "Validation Failure" and I was stuck. I stumbled over this post and with nothing to lose other than $130.
First piece of advice...Use Odin 3.12.3 ONLY!! I tried the latest version and it didn't work. Download the files, place them in the appropriate boxes and flash. reboot into recovery, wipe the cache/data and you should be good. Mine took quite a while after hanging on the Boost mobile splash screen, but about 3 reboots later, it brought me to the configuration screen. It's up, running and I even got the OTA software update, but then again, it is stock.

Please let me know how this works for you with your G950U1. It had problems on my phone, but it could be a problem with my hardware.
I noticed that after installing, the software is identified as G950U, and not G950U1. Not sure if that matters though.
ok i got this to work to get back to a working state but to no avail i still have no imei no matter how i try . i also do not have anything show up in the service menu or any other of the menus except a few . i do not have a original back up of the imei nor can i get it to stick in the efs folder . i am really lost at the moment. all in all i have really learned alot about this s8 . i have flashed just about every available firmware to this phone i have even had twrp on it but now it is at a stage that i am in dire need of some tru know how . i am stuck with the binary 7 as i understand there is no going back from which means only u or u1 firmware is available there is no other with the 7 binary that i have found it will not read a sim or sd . if anyone has some help to offer again i would be very grateful for it . and thanx in advance for any help thrown my way . ps i'm not afraid to screw this phone up any more than it already is i have recovered from soft and hard brick already so i'm pre-prepared lol.

Imei is stored in a partition called sec I believe. They are also certificate wrote to this device which means you can't just rewrite it. There is u u1 and w firmware all bit 7 for your device. as for twrp I believe you mean safestrap as we have locked boot loaders
Best thing I can say is flash the absolute latest try to get correct base band for whichever firmware. If not may need a professional imei service that can write cert based imei but we don't discuss that here on xda
Ok that info helps get me to another stage lol and yes I meant ss . I have it back now on the u firmware got it acknowledging sna xaa spr . I think the imei is in there somewhere but what baffles me most I have nothing showing up in the service menu and I cannot log into Samsung on it .I can log in on my J737V. But also aside said still not showing baseband ims not registered and it will not register in the update part of settings. I don't really know what caused all this .But anyways thanks for the info I will be going through the info you provided. The slot for the help . Oh and if anyone needs any thing for this devise chances are I got a lot of it lol.
Use phone with Visible
I'm trying to use this factory binary to transition my phone from SM-G950U1 to SM-G950U so that I can put Verizon firmware on it and use on Visible (Verizon MVNO). I downloaded the binary linked above and extracted the tar file, but when using ODIN 3.12.7, I get an error message when trying to load it to the phone (it just says success:0 failed:1).

Thank you so much! With the modded 3.13 I was able to load the binary 7 combination file and then subsequently load the latest Verizon firmware downloaded from samfirm. This allows the phone to be used on Visible. I really appreciate your help.
I'm not 100% sure but If you have combination firmware on your device, perform a factory reset with combination firmware it very well may rebuild your IMEI partition. I've read somewhere that the combination firmware does that if your do a factory reset with it. Factory reset is in the settings menu after you flash and run the combination rom(Factory Binary), whatever.
