Factory Reset To sell phone on LPY Firmware - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

I have been reading about the issues with this phone and I have just decided to sell mine since I dont think even if I root and go back to GB its going to fix poor speaker quality on this phone. So I just want to make sure before I do anything. It seems that doing factory reset on this phone with the Lpy firmware is a big iffy no no maybe giving me a brick? Im just not wanting to waste time to have to odin and possibly root to get the phone reset so I can sell it but maybe I will have to?? Thanks in advance

Flash stock Gingerbread and then factory reset.
Yes... you'll have to use Odin.

Thanks for that, but what stock gb? theres all these diff versions see- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1530501
Then I had a thought. What if I just simply go change my csc code again Ive done that once with no issue and that wipes the phone as well. Probably the easiest. It just seems to risky to try and odin anything.
Thanks

odin is the safest.. check for your country name in the list and download the gb rom then flash it through odin so simple

I had changed csc myself but there's no proof that it does not trigger the bug. It could be possible that both factory reset and changing csc work the same way.
Safest way I would suggest is to flash original GB - factory reset.
Just do not select repartition or bootloader or pit in pc odin.

remove battery, boot into odin mode, flash mje and you'll be okay.
I did that I flashed in to odin and tried to return to stock but the custom screen still remains almost like im hung up in root mode
After flashing back to stock, reboot to recovery and wipe data/factory reset

I don't know if this is the place to ask this and I apologize if it isn't. I am needing MAJOR help. My phone won't boot into recovery it will boot into odin and The Samsung Note 3 Screen that says Custom and has a lock. I don't know what to do and I am so stressed out. I shouldn't have messed with something i wasn't sure of

If it will boot into Download (Odin) mode, then it will almost certainly be able to be flashed back to pure stock using Odin. Just make sure to use the Odin file which is equal to (or greater) the release that was on the phone. For instance, if you were on MJ7, then you could use either the MJ7 or MJE stock Odin file, but if you were on MJE, you must use the MJE Stock Odin tar.md5 file.
Note that this will completely wipe your phone.
If you flashed something non-stock to the recovery partition & your device is a retail SM-N900V, you will have blown the Knox Warranty flag and that will not be fixed by flashing back to stock. However, that means almost nothing in terms of lost functionality (but it will mean your warranty is void).
good luck

Thank you for your reply, if this helps any when I rooted it a while back I used the Kingo Root, then today I decided it was being dumb I wanted to factory reset and that is when I found out recovery wasn't there. To be honest with you I don't know what was on there I do know it was Android 4.3 but that is all I know. I feel so stupid and at a lost. I have tried so many diff things and I fear I have messed it up worse. At this point I would just be happy with it booting up. Right now I have actually put my number back on my NOte 2 for now just so my kids can contact me if they need too etc. But, I have tried doing this in Odin N900vrubmj7 etc. and everytime i try to do it through odin it Fails. So would that mean I need to do the MJ5 that you mentioned. I greatly appreciate your help. Believe me i have learned a valuable lesson from this.

Hey, don't be so hard on yourself. You obviously aren't stupid, you asked for help. I had to reset my phone tonight from something I did in safestrap, no big deal it's all part of the root game. Shoot mine wouldn't get past the custom lock screen even after a battery pull. Anyways I would just flash up to MJE, root and be done with it. Look at it as a learning experience. Now you know what to do if the phone gets messed up again. Relax and enjoy the rest of the night.
Thank you

I appreciate that, so you are saying get MJE install that via odin? Then root and that should be it? My main thing is Odin keeps failing on the install maybe I am not using the right thing so I will look for MJE. I hate to ask this but could you give me step by step or direct me where? I appreciate this. And never touching my phone again after this nightmare!!!

Have you confirmed the md5 to ensure you have a good download? It might be good to redownload Odin and the stock tar. Also make sure you are using the latest and greatest Odin. In you are using odin for s3 you may have issues.

I'll take another shot. Have you tried checking the Nand Erase All and Phone EFS Clear check boxes in Odin with the MD5 and PIT files? I have done these on my phone with no ill effects. Leave the other check boxes as they are and add those two. I got the info from here a while ago. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2610757

[Q] Stuck in boot animation-Can't mount \data after KK update with odinPc

Hi all,
After a looong night flashing and downloading again and again trying different methods, I'm out of ideas.
I have a uk n9005 (btu) that was happily running out of the box 4.3 stock until yesterday night. No root, no flash attempts before.
I started by flashing german 4.4 (dbt) without wiping before (big mistake, maybe) and without pit file and no repartition nor bootloader update checked. The error came out and I flashed again with the pit file. I let the phone reboot, but it didn't go further than the boot animation. I take out the battery and boot in the recovery. That is when I saw the can't mount \data error for the first time.
I tried to wipe, although it was impossible since the data was not mounted. However I could (and still can) wipe cache. I restarted the phone, and again the same situation, stuck in boot animation. From this moment I've tried many things:
- Flashing the bootloader separately and then the rom. no results (data not mounted and stuck in boot animation)
- Flashing custom recovery and after, official cm11 nightly and another cm11 based rom. no results (data not mounted and stuck in boot animation)
- Downgrading to 4.3. Not possible. Thank you Samsung!
- Firmware recovery with kies 3.0. no results since 4.4 has not been released for my region (maybe waiting for if to come out would be a solution)
- Flashing Polish and german (againg) 4.4 with and without pit file. no results (data not mounted and stuck in boot animation)
The only thing I can think of that I haven't tried yet is flashing a custom kernel, but I can't see any advantage in doing that. Next approach is taking it to the technical service to see if they can solve this situation. I'm afraid they're going to ask for almost as much money as a new note 3 costs...
P.D: I know I haven't taken part a lot in this forum, but I've been reading it for years, since I started playing with my SGS back in 2011. This is the first time I'm really lost after spending the night searching the forum (not only the note 3 section). This really pisses me off, with my previous phones I could always find a way to bring them back to life, but with SGS4 and SGN3 things are totally different thanks to samsung. (sorry for this looong post)
Thank you in advance

Yes, in fact I think it is checked automatically after you select the pit file.

No problem. Let us know the result.
I'd try Odin 3.04, with the original stock polish rom.
I had no trouble using the Polish KK rom that came in 4 pieces, AP, BL, CP and CSC. I flashed 2 Note 3's using this with no problems whatsoever.
I can't say for sure you won't but it's worth a try...
Also, check to see if your Knox warranty has been tripped as this can happen when fooling around with roms.
You will have no love with Kies even when your region receives KK rom as Kies doesn't recognise bootloaders since MJ3... Good going Samsung, have had a few months to fix and have done NOTHING...

I've been searching for a rom in 4 pieces but I haven't find it. I downloaded 2 polish roms and neither of them was in 4 pieces. Can you tell me where can I find it? Because at the moment it's impossible to download anything from sammobile... Thank you!
My knox warranty was tripped just after the fail size error in odin, the first time I attempted to flash. However that's not my main concern now... haha
"Nice" to know that about kies. At this moment, the only reason to buy another samsung phone is the big community behind it :victory:. I thought they were going to do something about the bloatware, but it's getting even worse every time a new phone is announced...

It's going to be difficult that someone has it, since most people prefer 1 file roms. I will pray to sammobile haha
I'm not an expert, so I don't know if it's something critical for the phone (data mounted) to boot, but whenever I had this problem before with my previous phones, I was able to fix it by flashing a sock rom with odin or going back to the previous rom. So, my main concern now is that after all the flashing I've made, I still can't mount \data.

Hi,
I have reported this thread to be moved to the right Q & A section where you might be able to get help quickly.
Good luck.
You flashed a custom rom?
well did you check the bootloader and modem?
example: your old firmwara was based on a coh4 and the new custom is based on coj3.. then you get bootloops.
In this case please download the fitting bl & modem to your rom!

Trying going back to a 5.0.1 firmware
N910PVPU3BOF5 ( I pulled that from N910P) Didn't remember Sprint model number.
So if I'm wrong find the correct model of sammobile and download 5.0.1.
See what that does. Bootloader should not be locked so it should be possible,

I having a similar issue for a few months now. Nobody seems to have a clear answer. I am not a noob and have flashed back to factory a million times on other phones.. I have spent hours trying everything with no luck. Sprint store will not help... pretty frustrating. Let me know if you find a solution.
Have you tried a new battery yet?

me too, i also have a bootloop for a couple of months now. tried literally every single combination of bootloaders/modems/kernels/ROMs . i can't even get into recovery, but can get into download mode.
do you guys think trying another battery may seriously help? how could a new battery help getting out of a bootloop if download and/or recovery mode work fine?
I don't think another battery will do anything. I think it is all software. I can flash CM11 btw, so you should try that. But my system is extremely unstable... it works... but is beyond frustrating. my smart watch wont work.. have to restart phone throughout day.... so many problems I cant even list them all.

A battery? How in the world would that help? That makes no sense... no offense, just sounds like you are asking someone to unnecessarily to spend $$$ when it is clearly software.
I'm having the same problems and want to know if op has tried it so I'll know if it's been ruled out of the problem thats why. Ok so it's software. You have the solution. No offense.

Were you able to get it fixed? I'm probably going to go to a phonerepair shop this weekend or next week and see what they say or can do.

Is factory reseting too much harmful

So just like i asked,i did a total of about 12 factory reset since i bought this phone on march, the last factory reset was about 1 week ago, now i have so much bad gaming experience, gaming has never been that bad before the last factory reset, now all games are so much laggy almost unplayable, i tried to reboot the device several times but it doesn't help, so did i damage something by doing that much of factory reseting? I remember that at some point i had to reset twice a day.
Did you try flashing new Rom ? I did like 4 times in 3 month but never had issue . Only did reset cos I had lot of apps and keep testing things so from my point of view it shouldnt affect preformance .
Better flash TWRP and format every single partition and flash a new rom. It should help.

Did you try flashing new Rom ? I did like 4 times in 3 month but never had issue . Only did reset cos I had lot of apps and keep testing things so from my point of view it shouldnt affect preformance .

No i didn't flash anything i mostly reseted after firmware updates and the other resets were due to my bad luck like(forgetting to store contacts to sim instead of email so after installiaton i had to reset to use the old email that contains contacts to get them...and stuff like that, although i knew later that i could have got those numbers via gmail...anyway u think it shouldn't affect performance even with that much of resets?? Maybe os data have been corrupted during resets??

Can i directly flash stock rom using odin??
Yeah. Go to sammobile.com and find proper firmware for Your device. Also format(factory reset) Your phone before flashing it with odin, it should give You the cleanest flash possible.
And no. Factory resetting doesn't damage Your phone. I've done it hundreds of times on my other devices and they all are fine

Ty for ur reply, but i have a question why do u think it's advisable to flash my device if factory reset is not bad? I mean i haven't played with the software before never rooted never flashed, when u adviced me to flash the device i thought it's because the number of resets i did,but now u said that reset isn't bad,so basically what should i do? Is it worth flashing yet all i have done is resetting? Or should i wait for the next update ?? I forgot to mention that i ran some gfx benchmarks and i got the results of 'those' on the web (if not better), maybe it's the latest 60mbs firmware update??, at the end do u think i should flash?
Sorry for the late response.
If You flash a stock = original rom from sammobile (samsung) You won't lose warranty. It's the rom that samsung has properly signed. And You can reflash it even 100 times or more if You want. Only custom roms and rooting voids the warranty. When You take Your phone to Samsung Repair Center they do the same thing when You tell them that something is wrong with Your phone.
But in other words:
Flashing stock rom is safe and doesn't void Your warranty.

Looking for a way to make my device back to stock.

Hello ,
I own a G935A. I flashed the G935U firmware (G935UUEU4APL4) but OTA's won't work. By won't work i mean, it downloads the latest update but during the installation it fails at 32%.
Since the G935U firmware is not the original that the phone came with. I am thinking of switching back to G935A but i did not note before i change to U firmware the original firmware i had exactly. I tried to flash several G935A firmwares with no luck. Kinda messed up
Goal basicly is to stabilise the phone in a OTA enviroment, so i can unlock it too.
If someone could give me a helping hand i would be really thankful.
Thanks !
P.S Sorry if i am in the wrong section or something. Not intentional.
You can go back to the AT&T firmware the same way you got the U firmware on there. Look for the Odin installable archive. However, you might consider clearing cache in your recovery before doing that, as switching back usually means a factory reset. Also, make sure you have enough free space in internal storage for the archive to decompress.

Any suggestions as to which G935A firmware to pick ? tried several and they were failing during install on odin
https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-s7-edge/how-to/stock-firmware-935a-att-t3410887
Note that you must use the version of Odin in the link. (I'm really not sure why, but things are finickier these days)

use this one. this is 100% stock AT&T firmware. Just make sure you have OEM unlock and usb debugging on in Development in settings.

Good call, though I could have sworn that is where I pulled the A firmware when I was trying to unroot.
Anyway, I was wrong, and NorBarb is the official A firmware guru.
Thanks a lot for the answers, i really appreciate it.
I will be checking it out in a bit. Hopefully it all works out.
Edit: It all woked out great, thanks again for the info!
