Home Screen layout - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

I'm having an issue where after setting up my Home Screen the way I like, it keeps reverting back to the default layout after I reboot my phone. It happens on my S8 and it also was happening to me on my S7 after flashing an S8 port. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

(Solved) I was able to fix my issue by clearing data in settings.

Middle button not working after reset

Hey,
So I just completed a factory wipe and set up my phone again. Strangely though, the middle button on the phone that is defaulted to close all windows/applications and go "home" doesn't seem to do anything anymore. I can tell it still works as when the screen is off, pressing the button wakes up the phone, but after that it does nothing.
Anyone know how to fix this? Not sure where it would be in the settings.
Thanks
I had this when I installed a new launcher...the ONLY thing that fixed it for me was to reinstall the rom. I tried wiping everything I could without getting rid of my data...but in the end that is all that I could do. But it did fix the issue. Sorry if you were hoping for something easier...maybe someone else may be able to help you.
I am still using the stock launcher :S
Try with another launcher to see if it works. If it does, go back to the standard launcher to see if it now works.

S7 Edge Touch Screen Issues!

Hi Guys, newbie here so I apologise if I've posted in the wrong section, I'm sure someone will move the post if need be?
Has anyone else had issues with the touch screen on their S7 Edge because mine really is pants! An example would be when texting, it's not registering every key I press so I end up typing incomplete words. There's seems to be black spots when scrolling also mainly in line with where you'd swipe the edge function across.
Now some of the things I have tried in attempt to find a resolve are as follows:-
1.) Force restart and restart in safe mode to see if this strange activity was caused by an app.
2.) Force restart and clear cache partition during reboot.
3.) Disable edge functionality to be sure I haven't been catching the screen.
4.) Factory reset.
Now I have called EE and they are happy to send me a new device after they reached to conclusion that the device is faulty. Unfortunately they are out of stock so now I'm playing the waiting game with my faulty device whilst I wait for some new stock to arrive.
Has anyone else had this problem and did you find out what causes this to happen?

G900T notification panel gets reset shortly after rebooting

Shortly after I switched from a G900A to a G900T, I noticed that the notification panel will get reset back to the default arrangement a few minutes after a reboot. This never happened on my G900A. There's also a problem with the function of a long press on the home button getting reset to the default.
There are these threads that address the problem, but nobody seems to have a solution:
https://us.community.samsung.com/t5...on-Panel-resets-after-phone-reboot/td-p/57184
https://support.t-mobile.com/thread/133834
https://www.reddit.com/r/galaxys5/comments/4myawp/notification_panel_icons_keep_resetting_after/
I thought that perhaps com.tmobile.pr.adapt might be causing this, but after I rooted the phone and froze that program, the unwanted resetting is still happening.
Is there some way to install a different notification panel? I haven't found any such thing yet.
try to use the app which i reverting the Datatoggle Icon and it should work.
Which app is this? I don't understand.

Issues with my device crashing

I purchased a Mi 9t a few days ago, and I'm experiencing a recurring issue that I can't seem to solve.
From time to time, the UI will simply crash. I can still see my apps but I can't open them, and the notification bar on top of the display just disappears. I can't access anything and my only solution is to reboot. Sometimes I'll have to reboot multiple times a day, which gets old quite quickly.
Most of the time it seems the issue occurs when I'm trying to go to the home screen, whether with gestures or with the home button.
- At first I thought it was a conflict between the gestures in Nova launcher and the gestures of the phone. Turning them off in Nova didn't fix it, so I tried to disable the phone ones and started using the navigation bar, but it didn't fix the issue either.
- I did clean Nova launcher's cache along with the system launcher's one, didn't fix anything.
- I tried to do a full factory reset, it didn't fix anything either.
- I tried to disable the search bar, didn't fix it.
- I tried using another launcher, didn't work.
- Using the system launcher didn't work.
I'll add that my phone and apps are all up to date.
I didn't find anything helpful on the internet, and now I'm out of ideas. Is it software, or could it be hardware ? I can still send the phone back and get a replacement, should I ?
Thanks for your input !

Hi there,
When you did a full factory reset did you start from scratch or did you import your backup?
If you did it with your backup once you were setting up your phone again, it may be some app that you have recently installed.
If you did factory reset (without restoring your backup) and still experience the same issue it could be Software/hardware issue (software being more likely) and yes you should send your phone for repair or get a replacement phone.
But before you do I would advise you to wait until another software update / Security patch is out and see if that resolves the issue for you if it does it was software issue if it does not it is a hardware issue.
Hope this helps
Thank you for taking the time to write an answer, I appreciate it !
Because of a delivery error I received a second device, so I decided to switch and send back the first one. I also suspected that it was more likely to be software rather than hardware, but thought I'd do it just in case. So far the issue happened once on the new device.
You raise a good point I hadn't thought about. I transferred the data from my old phone to the new one, at first. When I did a factory reset I entirely wiped the data on the phone, however I had backed up my data with Google and the Mi cloud, which I restored.
I think I'll try doing an entirely clean install if the issue persists. Thanks you !
