Probably not, had the S8 too for a few days and for me it was a dissapointing experience. While on paper it should be a blazing fast device, in real life i xperienced stutters/lag/framedrops while gaming/opening apps and animations. The OP5 i have now in raw performance is much faster and smoother then the S8. The Samsung soft-
and bloatware still is too heavy on the cpu/gpu to have a smooth working device. Think the HTC U11/LG G6 are better devices then the S8(+) imo.

Indeed. But as someone who has the S8 and misses the pure Android experience, gee2012's post actually resonated well with me.
For a couple of weeks now, I've been kicking around the idea of giving the S8 to my wife, to replace her busted up S6, and picking up a OnePlus 5. But I just can't seem to pull the trigger for some reason.

I have the S8+ and OP5 and IMHO the S8+ is a much better phone. Granted, I have mine rooted with a custom Rom and kernel and it's super fast. I guess everyone looks from their phone but for me there's no competition the S8+ wins every time.

Yeah, I must say that I absolutely love the screen on the S8. I wasn't previously one to use my phones to watch TV/movies. However, since getting the S8 I now love watching Netflix on this huge screen while doing cardio at the gym.
I installed BK Disabler the first day and set that up to keep all the bloatware disabled. The phone has continued to be blazing fast and I haven't experienced any noticeable hiccups or lagging in daily use.
The one issue I do have is with the fingerprint scanner. It's slow when compared to the Pixel and sometimes it will completely stop working until the phone is rebooted. However, the Iris scanner is extremely reliable and usually gets my phone unlocked before I can even get my finger to the fingerprint scanner. Granted, this is not a solution if you're wearing sun glasses.
I do miss the pure Android experience but don't bother rooting anymore since some of my daily apps, including my banking apps, don't work on rooted phones anymore. Maybe I'll hold off until I see what the Pixel 2 has to offer this fall.

There are some annoyances with the S8 like you said with the fingerprint reader and another thing that annoyes me is finding a good screen protector! All in all though again IMO it's streets ahead of the OP5 (I know a lot on here will disagree with me) from camera to display to general build quality. Stock I agree again performance it's quite stuttery but as I said rooted etc etc I've got it to be very, very smooth and fast. I'm also waiting on the Pixel 2 to see what that offers next but I've been quite let down by the OP5.

That's great and all but what about people in the US. I feel like this is something that every time someone brings up the comparison(OP5 to GS8) that gets overlooked. Even if you buy the GS8 Unlocked in the US there is no way to do anything that involves the Kernel, Rom, or any deep modification to the phone. As I understand the OP5 is more popular other countries, though it seems as that no one even brings this up.

Had the s8+..4 different models with pink screens. I'm sure it's a great phone if you can get one that doesn't have a defective screen. I personally gave up on that goal. Love my OP5

Yeah, it happens with AMOLED panels. Took me 3 6Ps to get one with a uniform colour screen. Luckily with the S8 my first one was uniform.

How's yours OP5 screen uniformity ? Mine seems ok.
What's the best way to test it?
EDIT:
Mine seems ok! Tested at diferent screen intensity with this page: http://www.nullabletype.co.uk/static/styles/blah2.html (scroll down)

I came to 1+5 from LG G2, and I should say that it seems like if I came from stone age
It is really fast.. still I am facing two issues:
1- fingerprint scanner sometimes not responding at all after ideal time.
2- Sometimes it dose not connect to data network at all(which is 3G), I need to switch it manually to 2G and then to automatic mode by hand , then it can see the 3G network, strange.
Everything else in my opinion is superb.

1. What do you mean about "ideal time" ?
2. Probably carrier related, have you checked your apn ( not sure if it's called the same in english )?

I remember having this kind of problem with my previous phone (Oneplus One). Don't remember how i fixed it because it suddently disappeared. I change my phone operator during that period so i think it's somehow related. But yeah i agree it's kinda annoying ^^.

Galaxy S8 (European Exynos) - performance - scroll stuttering

Hi,
I'm really disappointed, I got my brand new s8 yesterday, and it looks and feels amazing like really really great.
Sadely it stutters a lot after a few swipes scrolling down in many apps, most disappointing were Instagram and Fenix, two perfectly smooth apps on my Pixel.
Is my device defective? What's your experience?
I think I 'm going to return it though
Best,
Dreadk
Instagram feels fine while scrolling ... even fast scrolling is good.
Maybe your Inet connection bandwidth?
My s8 stutters. I have no lag in instagram. Samsung browser lags a lot, also apparant on xda-dev forum site. My s7 edge never stuttered, it's buttery smooth. Both devices are Exynos. I am contemplating about returning it and sticking to my galaxy s7 edge. Batterylife also is worse than my s7 edge. On my s7 edge, I averaged at around 1000-1500mAh used for the battery. On my s8, I averaged at around 800-900mAh....
My phone is always warm, Android System is also quite high at about 10% when the display is at 40%. I am not happy with the S8. My s7 edge is much louder with dualspeakermod as well. The s8 has a very very weak earpiece speaker, so dualspeakermod won't be amazing at all.
Rear-facing camera favours retaining highlights on the s8. On the s7 edge it always wants to up the shadows. S8 camera has less noise but it's nothing special compared to my s7 edge.
Front facing camera is nice on the s8...but the autofocus is a pain in the ass. On the s7 edge, focus is always perfect due to fixed focus. On s7 edge, sometimes it needs refocus and can result in blurred image....
I got a 500Mb fiber and my Pixel on the same wifi scrolls smoothly anyway.
Wish it could be a simple fix like that ^^
Wow looks like you have much more complaints than I do, anyway I didn't test the phone further, smooth scrolling is one on my most wanted feature ; so I stopped digging deeper.
Why no reviewer did notice this stuff though?
I remember it was the same with iPhone 7 stuttering everywhere (10.3 greatly improved that recently, but too late).
Guys,
How are you installing your apps?
Are you doing a transfer from old phone to S8?
Sometimes installing apps fresh is best. Also double check your settings.
I usually use Nova Launcher so will see what the stock launcher is like for a day or two and then decide if Nova will be better.
I did a transfer first and then two factory reset installs (only installing instagram and fenix) because I couldn't believe it
I wonder if it's not an Exynos only problem, I suspect Samsung might have optimized the snapdragon / US version much more than the European one; US market is way more important I guess.
Any clue about that?

I have the US Verizon variant and mine lags a lot. Tons of jank when simply pulling down the Notification Shade. Very disappointed. Doesn't matter whether I run the TW or GN launchers; both do the same thing. For having a SnapDragon 835 and a truckload of RAM, I expected it to be very smooth. I've tried turning down the display to just HD and that didn't make any difference at all.

I have a US GS8 on VZW and I actually feel this is the smoothest device I've ever used. I'm coming (back to Android after a mini break) from an iPhone 7 Plus and in some places the GS8 is smoother and more fluid than the iPhone. It's way better than what Android used to be.
Maybe there's an app or something running in the background?

I thought that too but this did it right out of the box before I even started loading apps. I'd love to figure out what's wrong. Considered doing an FDR just for the sake of doing it before I get too comfortable with the initial setup, as I know I'm lazy and will put it off. I mean could I have a CPU disabled or something? I guess I could contact Samsung support but I'm assuming they are going to be swamped for the next couple of weeks... but need an answer before my return window comes up.

As I said, I factory reset two times, only installing instagram and fenix after initial setup and without modifying any option. No luck
Maybe I got a defective unit.

Because everyone configures their phone differently and the likely cause of these random issues isn't the phone it's some combination of user specific apps and settings.

I remember a few years ago when the note 5 was released. Boy did that phone lag, it was unbelievable. The thing is not many people would notice it and like you I use fenix and talon for Twitter and if a phone lags on these 2 apps it's glaringly obvious for me. Please let me know how you get on with this as was hoping to get a s8 from work.

I did a video, can you see the stutter (the video is 60fps) ?
https://youtu.be/YTTYtT8JR_U
The worst part is around 12 to 17 sec.
give the phone a bit of time to adapt, there is always small updates to fix these minor issues

Guess you're right, I'm quite sure the stutter is caused by Samsung software trying too hard to smooth the scrolling.
Because to get the stutter I must scroll without pause, if I pause and scroll again things stay smooth.
I really hope they fix that soon but what if they don't and I can't return the phone...
PS: it tooks Apple 6 months to fix the same kind of issues on the iPhone 7.
UK s8. Upgraded from a Google Pixel and it feels like a downgrade in terms of speed and smoothness. Not buttery at all. Stutters everywhere!
Seriously, Samsung? Don't they test these things?

Did you regret buying the S8+ ?

I saw lot of people complaining about the S8 plus, some are saying the phone is very fragile, others doesnt like at all the new screen ratio, aggressive RAM management....etc
Well i'm curious and want to know if the S8 plus is really a flop, how is your experience with this device ?
I love mine. Some things are a bit annoying (The swipe feature on the keyboard is extremely inaccurate, every so often the phone will pause while loading an app for a few seconds) but no phone is perfect, the S8+ is close though.

Well ......
I own the device for about a week and I have to say that it covers almost all of my needs but:
1. The battery life is worse than the S7 Edge or 1+3T (at least for me)
2. S8+ feels a little bit boring after a while
Overall, I didn't regret at all since it is nearly perfect

The built in swipe keyboard is horrible, ended up putting gboard on it.
NO, not a single issue with it so far and had it since day one. I believe a lot of the issues can be attributed to user and not the phone.
Don't think I regret it, but the only reason I switched from my iPhone 6S Plus is because I was bored.
Usability and speed (Other than the occasional Android lag) is about the same for my use. (Emails, messaging and like 1 game, FateGO)
So I feel like the money I paid for what I gained isn't exactly proportionate, but it's been a while since I used Android as my main phone, so I decided to jump back for a bit. it's been good.
Having to worry about screen protectors that fit my case is dumb tho.
Also smart unlock with my Bluetooth headphones makes up for the fingerprint scanner being on the back of android phones.
I'm not crazy about the waterfall screen but I'm getting used to it.
Otherwise I love it. Picked it up for$725 can't go wrong at that price

Dont regret the phone, i love it, but i regret having more **** on downpayment in my life..
I was worried about what I was going to see in this post because I just ordered mine and expect it on Wednesday. I'm glad to see it is mostly positive reviews.
This is the best phone I ever had. The FD version seems to be the worst, tho coz the battery life is not as amazing as F or U version, but still get me thru the day. But android is boring me somehow. im willin to change to iphone again. After 7 years on adnroid, i want to try ios

Hmmm NOPE.. Lol
I came from a v20 and that was a bad phone and I regret ever getting the phone. I decided to give Samsung a try, even though I hated Samsung. I got the Exynos version and boy do I love it! Although it has the pink/red hue on the sides, I don't notice it after a while using it. I did minimize it by changing the display colors a little bit.
Over all I love it. It's super fast on AT&T and I'm able to root. So far LOVE it!.
I'm not regretting buying the phone at all. Everything works great, the speaker is really loud and im averaging around 6 1/2 to 7 hours of SOT at 3/4 brightness. I bought the G955U1 Snapdragon US unlocked version and I actually got one with a perfect screen without the red hue. I wish it were the old aspect ratio as I really wanted a larger device but I can live with the size. If the new Note is larger when it comes out I'll probably give the S8+ to the wife and get the Note but only if it's around a 6.5 incher or larger.

This isn't true at all. FD version is quite good on battery. I've gone all day on this. SOT about 7 hours.
Sort of. The screen of 8+ is so minute compare to my 6.8" Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra. Am thinking going back to Zenfone 3 Ultra now. Other than this I think its a good phone to keep though.
I have had mine a week today, about to go back to the store with it as it has the redish tint down each side of the screen and its driving me nuts! Even after playing with the settings i still feel like I can see it. I have come from a 6P and to be honest the 2 things i really miss is the width of the 6P, the keyboard was a bit more spaced out and i made less mistakes with my fat fingers... the 2nd thing is the updates direct from google...I was running the Android O beta on it... and now i am running 7.0?! I did look at the Pixel XL when making my choice but it just felt like a step back when you stood in front of the S8 and Pixel, i mean - no wireless charging which i have to say is one of the best features for me with this phone, i have wireless charging points at home and work and so i never run out of power and it is so quick!

What will be your next phone after the S7 Edge?

I have the S7 Edge a year now and still am pretty much satisfied with overall performance, camera, GPS during navigation etc. Sometimes the external sd card isn't recognized, which kinda sucks (it is then recognized again after some time without doing anything), but this is actually throwing me off a bit from the S7 Edge and I was looking around what to get as my next phone, probably without external SD card and with bigger internal storage (128 GB preferable). I always rooted but haven't done it with the S7-edge, as I didn't felt I needed it anymore (performance is great and battery life also, even without flashing any different kernel).
I was looking into different phones to dump the S7 Edge:
Oneplus 5: camera seems not to be so good, compared to the S7 Edge (no OIS on the Oneplus 5). And camera is very important to me.
The S8 plus was also an option, but seems not much of an upgrade.
The Note 8 still only has 64GB storage.
Not to sure how the HTC u11 is, never had an HTC phone, only Samsung (Galaxy S1, S2, S4 and now the S7-edge).
Also had some Google Nexus phones, so maybe the next Pixel phone might be an option (unfortunately they are really pricey).
What are you guys are planning to get after the S7 Edge?
one plus 5 is really good it has insane charging speed and overall in speed tests beats galaxy s8 and all other phones its a powerhouse. pixel 2 will be probabyl good but super expensive. LG V30 idk yet, note 8 is too big for me. The Essential phone is pretty insane but $699 and its not out yet.
but at this point i cant live without AOD and wireless charging so I will probably get S8 next
I plan on keeping mine for quite a bit longer. Honestly, at this point buying anything else would be for aesthetics only, as processors and ram are not really moving anywhere that much better.

Unfortunately I think your right, not much of an improvement, except for the Oneplus 5. The Pixel 2 is rumored to be the first phone to have the next snapdragon processor, which might be the next step in terms of speed / performance, also having pure Android is nice and the modder community usually is great. But the price might be insane (look at the current Pixel price, it's still very high).

The trade offs to owning a oneplus 5 for me are not worth the minimal speed gains imo.
Probably wait for the S9 plus. I really love my S7E.
Probably switching things up. Im looking at the new nokia 8 but its camera isnt as good as it could be.
Ill see the nokia 9 ever comes. Otherwise ill wait for something better.
I would love a Pixel 2 but price will be too high for me. And also a bezel-less phone ..like the essential!
No idea. I tend to keep my phone's for a long time. I don't get the upgrade every year thing. I just upgraded from a Nexus 5 a few months ago, and that was only because the camera sucks too bad and I needed more storage. If not for that I would probably have still kept it. It's still plenty fast enough. I expect I'll be using my s7 edge for at least another 3 years.

Wow, must admit I got a new phone every year for the last 3 or 4 years, but with the S7 Edge I am to satisfied to get a new phone or let's say I am to unimpressed by everything which came out since then. Just feel that there isn't any real step up from there, especially regarding camera, battery life and even performance. Also stuff like the HTC u11 squeeze thing isn't anything interesting imho.
At first the Note 8 didn't impress me like I thought it would. But after I ran through what I want in a phone, and what's on the market. The Note 8 is really the only device that truly does everything.
Large hi-res OLED display
External Storage
Headphone jack
Waterproof
Wireless Charging
True Dual Camera (OIS on both sensors)
The Note 8 checks all of those boxes and to my knowledge is the only phone that does currently. The S7 and S8 cameras are already fantastic so having a dual setup is a perfect upgrade. And the extra 2GB of RAM is a really good bonus too. Honestly love my S7E but I just couldn't pass up the offer to trade it in and only pay $2 more a month with ATT Next.

You had an iPhone before? I always had android, except for an MacBook (worst idea ever to get one, I am running windows since forever). Really couldn't see me getting an iPhone ever.

Yes. Quite some time ago. I'm simply sick of notification issues. Sick of things not working the way they are supposed to. Sick of 2 exact same model phones not working the same. Sick of not getting calls or even notifications. Sick of antenna issues. Sick of not getting updates forever. I just want a phone that works. One that is supported and one that isn't forgotten the second a new phone comes out.
I know this is the wrong forum to be talking about this, so that's all I have to say about that. The new iPhone looks awesome. Yes, it's not Android and you can't root it or load ROM's, meh...I just want my phone to work and get updates as soon as they are available. My 6P had major battery issues and now I have numerous issues with this S7 Edge. Just time for a phone to work like it's supposed to and if it doesn't, then I can simply walk into a store and get it fixed or replaced on the spot.

I hear you, man. But with the S7 Edge everything is running really fine for me since day 1 (maybe because I didn't root or flash any custom ROM /Kernel und / mod etc. as I did with every previous phone) . Just the external SD card is acting up all of a sudden (could be the sd card, not the phone itself).

The improper behavior is completely sporadic. A "broken" phone would always perform incorrectly.
Note 8 exynos south east variant need a unlocked bootloader.

it can be because of bad sd card or bad sim card..
seen that with my eyes, bad sd card was making whole bunch of unusual behavor, slowdowns, freezing, etc... and the best part; it was only somethimes.. just random..
if that is not the case, go to repair shop. problem must be found and solved. dont think that is default behavior for all units of s7edge.. it's not! and if you got some problem someone must solve it, obviously you want, it's better moan on forums about that, right?

Anyone regret getting this phone? :/

I have the U11 since inception along with the S8 (exynos variant) and Oneplus 5. I really regret buying it since I cant even sell it now. I'm left with the choice of selling my other two phone and use this :/

The battery life isnt as good, samsung did some vodoo to make their battery last while viewing youtube, the Oneplus sometime beat the S8 if not on par with it. The lack of 3.5mm is such a hassle, I have my personal in-ear monitor, I use it to listen to music, and everytime I go somewhere I have to carried a pigtail. The phone is so much wider to hold with one hand, granted the oneplus 5 isnt far off, but it is bigger, with a case, I feel like its almost the same as my LG V20. One handed usage is such a pain. Not a big deal to me but when it comes to photography, its hit or miss, sometime it over expose sometime it doesnt. Oneplus have this issue too but the S8 really is a happy medium.
The ****ty thing abuot S8 is the damn bixby functionality. Touchwiz has come a long way, and Its awesome now, but bixby need to die. Oneplus is a good phone with top spec, but their screen cannot touch the S8 amoled, viewing it side by side the S8 just trump the oneplus screen. the U11 have good screen, better than the oneplus 5, in this regard.. Seems like every year HTC push out a phone that doesnt WOW or excite you, just leaving you in a state of euphoric until many of it quirks find it way back to the phone....SHame really, fallen from grace down to here.

Before I got mine I did a ton of research. Went to a MeetU event, checked it out in Sprint stores and saw tons of reviews. I knew the stuff I had to live with like the dongle for headphones. Sorry you don't like the phone. I'm assuming you can't return it anymore?

You are more than welcome to your opinion but why on Earth can you "not sell your phone"?
I like the phone at the moment.I think it will be a problem to resell it because not so many people are using HTC.Nobody from my friends are using HTC.iPhone and Samsung addicted ?
The only thing I regret about the U11 is its size, but I didn't have any way to test it out before purchasing. It's difficult for me to use with one hand. I still have a couple of weeks to return it for a refund, and really the only newer phone that intrigues me is the Essential. But that device feels like a gamble in a few ways.
I don't see why you would have any problems selling the U11. You may not receive as much as you paid for it, but somebody will buy it. Someone bought my 10 a few weeks ago (with several accessors) for $475 very quickly.
No, I made an informed decision and went with the best option for me.
I like that the phone comes with a USB DAC, I like the sapphire blue glass, I use the squeeze feature multiple times in a day, the only thing I've got slight reservations are the change to the warranty stance over unlocking the bootloader and their updates not being fast enough.
E.g. the new update indicates the display sensitivity issue is fixed and yet the 001 WWE users will probably be waiting another month.
But then again, I'd rather have this device over any of the others currently in the market.

10 hours...did you shut off everything, turn screen brightness to 0? I can barely get it past 4 hours.
I use my phone typically with everything on, and auto brightness on. I never have a problem with the oneplus 5 or S8 last beyond 5 hours.

I dont have sensitivity issue. All phones works well as far as audio goes, I power my HD800s with a proper DAC/AMP not with a phone DAC/AMP. I cant see any in-ear monitor that cant be power (and power well) with any of these phones, its 2017.

thats the thing, phone usage is based on user to user. I am using the phone the same as my 2 other phones and it cant hang. You can go to any phone thread and there are people making ridiculous claim about their SOT, even in the S8. ask how they do it and they throw out a bunch of things they did such as turning down brightness to 0, some even put phone on airplane mode -_- c'mon man.
Im not which region your in OP, but in UK, you can trade your U11 to CEX for £415 against something else in store or £345 cash in hand.. and I think GAME do something similar.. Or eBay about £350-450 , which isnt the best, but if you dislike it that much.. then better some kind of cash than nothing...
The only thing I dislike about the U11 is that f**king News Republic is forced upon us if we want to use BlinkFeed, and your battery problem is caused by "News Republic" which powers BlinkFeed.. I actually really loved BF on the M8 and M9, it was useful, but Ive noticed that on the U11, NR is constantly waking the CPU when phone is sleeping and when your not even using BF at all, bit like UpDay used to be on the S7E. Im actually force to disable both BF and NR... and install G .Newsstand instead. Also, even when you "unfollow" a topic. like Football, or Chinese Politics.. it actually doesnt work.. I STILL those Newsfeeds
Now to me, BF was a great part of Sense UI.. and disabling it, is a bit like not using the Stereo Speakers or the camera.. its a major part of HTC phones.. So Im not happy either.. When HTC went stock Google to reduce the Bloat on their phones, why didnt they just bake Google News and Weather or Newsstand as BlinkFeed..
Other than NR... I love the U11 and my G6, but these 2 are my last Android phones.. my next phone is an Iphone 7 plus..
Battery life is very good. But excellent with a custom kernel. Get about 7 hours of on screen time.

It's not though... It's brightness set at 50 at auto, normal usage and even social media apps..
I don't use my phone that much that I can claim 10 hours screen off time, but my phone easily reached 2 full days of my normal usage and 6 hours screen on time during that time...
Loving mine thus far. Coming from the S7, my battery life and performance has been pretty dang good. Even before S7 root, it is noticeably better. When considering the S7 root situation of having to use an engineering boot/kernel, and the mess it made with the battery life/performance...it's night and day.
The lack of headphone jack is somewhat disappointing. In reality I don't find myself needing headphones as often any more now that I'm done with college and all that jazz. The only other complaint I have is the lack of accessories for it.

* Battery - my SOT is 6hrs. More than any other phone I had used except for the Mi Mix(9-10hrs). Lots of FB, Viber. Regular text messages and calls. some games.
* 3.5mm - you can't complain about this. You had to know from the start that HTC U11 didn't have one.
* Camera - excellent for me.
* This phone is very fast and smooth I have no complaints whatsoever.

One Plus 5 or Note 8

Hi, I need some advice on which device I am going to buy. I'm going to use this I guess 3 to 5 years as I dont replace my phone that often so this thread will help A LOT. I'm basing on some reviews, speed tests, but the two seems to be on par with each other. Price is/may kind of an issue here as I would love to use some of the money (if I buy the OP5) for the after sales and some personal stuff. However if the Note 8 is really "bang for the buck" then I'll gladly go with it. I also tried to search some issues. Here's what I found so far:
One Plus 5:
GPS Issue
Bluetooth Issue
Overheating issue
Jelly Screen effect
Note 8:
Red tint in a lot of device
Light leak (lights leaking on the side of the phone not much of an issue for me)
If you have some issues with the phone, please feel free to reply. It would be appreciated a lot!
I also created Pros and Cons that might help me but I ended up more confused what to buy. Haha.
Pros for One Plus 5
Performance
Price
Dev Community as I love to mod my phone
Fingerprint Scanner placement + the scan speed is so fast
I've seen a lot of people who still uses OPO or OP2 which means that this device last long
The toggle above the volume like in iPhones
Customizable hardware buttons (I really love this one)
Cons for One Plus 5
Issues above as I really need the GPS and bluetooth, and I play heavy games.
No waterproofing
No Micro SD slot (I guess 128gb is enough but I would love to have the option of expanding more)
Pros for Note 8
SPen
Camera
Performance (but I've read OP5 has better. The 8gb ram may be the reason. But please feel free to correct me)
Display is a plus
Iris Scanner and Face Recognition (Is it accurate?)
Cons for Note 8
Samsung phones tend to slow down after months/years of using it.
Price
Body build is somewhat easy to crack due to glass body + curved edge
Samsung is a little bit strict when it comes to flashing Custom ROMS and I dont know if the SPen functionalities will be affected. (Please correct me here)
Fingerprint Scanner placement
I may be wrong with some of this but I've researched and this is what I've seen.
If this is a point to consider, I'm coming from a Xperia Z3Compact which didn't last long (I hated sony to the hell because of this) because of the digitizer issue. However, I enjoyed tweaking that phone. Now I'm forced to use my iPhone5s with jailbreak.
Note: Just to be clear, the devices in comparison are OP5 8gb/128gb and Note 8 6gb/64gb Exynos
Note: I'm posting this to each respective forum to have a fair discussion for each phone. I hope this is allowed. I also hope to help some people that have the same options with me.

OnePlus 5 Thread: Link Here
Thank you guys. After a long comparison, I'm going for the OP5 even with the rumors of OP5T. I just hate the back fingerprint scanner placements which is the trend now. And regarding with the bezels, I'm more into those phone with bezels on top and bottom for landscape usage. I've been trying the S8+, and some games that I play doesn't maximize or utilize the whole screen which leaves some part of the screen blank. However, the screen in the Note 8 is A1 dont get me wrong, but I'm more into the performance and the OP5's screen is enough. Thank you guys!
You are on the OP5 forum so replies can't be realistic... I prefer the OP5 anyday over any Sammy device for just one reason: the OS. I prefer a clean near stock Android OS over the bloated TW UI but that's just me. Note 8 is a great device and all of Samsung hardware is very well made, but the almost double price and the OS give my vote to the OnePlus 5.
I dont have any issues with GPS, Bluetooth and overheat since I bought OP5 til now. Best phone I ever have til now.
I have to disagree for the overheating issue. Same reason with the first reply, I like OxygenOS than TW.
+1 No issues with BT, GPS or overheating here too.
I don't have any heat issues as well. Quite the opposite: It's the coolest device I ever had, much cooler than the Galaxy S5, LG G4 and the HTC 10 which I all had before.
The question, in my opinion, is not "OP5 or Note 8" but "OP5 or HTC U11 or LG V30". But I'm very happy with the OP5!

No jelly effect on my device.
I came from a s8 and s8 plus and so far beside the screen which to me the op5 looks great screen wise obviously not as great as the s8 but still awesome. And the design of the op5 is more of a shared look with smart phones.
Beside that I am very impressed with the onep5 I do not regret the giving up my s8 for this phone. It's so damn smooth and fluid I've had no hiccups.
I have none of the issues on my oneplus 5 that you mentioned
I'm happy with it.

Well your cons for the OnePlus 5 I don't have any of them. My GPS is rock solid as I use it for work at 2+ hours a day. Locks in seconds and never see drift. Bluetooth? I connect to my 2011 Nissan with no issues and connect it to audio adapter (MPOW to stream Bluetooth Audio to my AUX port) and 2 sets of headphones... never an issue with quality or connectivity. My phone never gets hot and while gaming, i barely notice it gets slightly warm. (EX Kernel manager shows CPU temp at 98F after 30 min of asphalt 8.
Maybe you have a phone you should RMA? But there is no way in hell I'm paying $1000 for ANY smart phone when I can get a phone that's better performing, has longer battery life, faster charging, clean basically Stock Android and likely faster updates then Sammy. I used to be a big Sammy fan but not since i left my Note 4 and got a Nexus 6P and now the OP5.
This isn't a bias, these are what I look for in a phone and the things that made me choose this phone over the S8+, LG G6 and the HTC U11.
The one Phone I would look at today compared to the OP5 is the new LG V30. Simply because It will support the new 600mhz band 71 from T-Mobile. I'd have to see how the battery holds up and how well the OS is optimized cause I'm not a fan of LG and it's skinned OS and it's much slower charging speed.
Update: I forgot to mention the Jelly effect. I heard people saying it effects every phone but I got my OP5 on launch day and I can tell you more then a dozen people have looked at my phone and no one can see a "jelly effect" If mine has it it's so minimal its not noticeable. I believe the severity vary's a lot.

I'm really a fan of SPen but the price really kills it. I thought the price would go lower because of the Note 7 issue haha! I've read some reviews about V30 and its impressive. However I'm really not a fan of LG's OS. I tried G6 and its not for me. But I'll try V30 some other time. About the jelly effect, when I've seen the issue in youtube it made me dizzy a little bit but I dont know if I'll be affected in real life. There little to no demo phones of OP5 here in my country. Thank you for your reply!

I also posted this in Note 8 because I expected biased replies in the same forum. So the OS and the price is the point. Thank you sir!
I see, I updated the post and added the Jelly effect. Have you experienced it?
I think where ever I ask, its OOS > TW. Also, I updated the post and added the Jelly effect. Have you experienced it?

I've seen the HTC U11, but I'm not a fan of the shiny back and HTC as well haha. About the V30, I guess I can consider it but this bootloop issue prevents me to check on it. Also, I updated the post and added the Jelly effect. Have you experienced it?

Well, I purchased the phone 1 week ago, and yes, Jelly Effect is presented, but it's barely to notice. So really nothing which I'd somehow annoying. And the performance and battery life of this phone are outstanding
go for oneplus5.. best device that you can get...samsung sucks

Yeah I also have a theory that the when the jelly effect on a video capture, that the recording enhances the effect, especially in slow motion. I think it's far fewer people say they see then the people who say they can't see it all all.
The Note's screen is better and the S Pen is great.
I owned a Note 4 but could got tired of all bloatware and Samsung in general. I know Touchwiz has improved but it's still too much.
Super happy with the OP5. I mostly used the S Pen for navigation and I use a simpler stylus I found on Amazon on the OP5 and it works great.
No issues with GPS, bluetooth or anything else for me.
The Jelly effect is present on my device, but I don't even notice it anymore more. Very rarely.
I'd go for the OnePlus 5 just because of the price. I can't see how the Note 8's camera, screen, waterproofing and microSD slot make up for that $500 difference. The Note 8 can't even make up for the $200 difference from the S8, and those are nearly identical phones in many aspects.
I chose the OnePlus 5 for the following reasons:
- Performance
- Development community and support
- Price
Samsung tends to have issues with all 3 of the above.
The biggest difference here being the price and you really need to ask yourself "Am I really getting my money's worth?"
I highly doubt the Note 8 is $500 better than the OnePlus 5 or 2-300 better than any other Flagship launched this year.
Very cool running device... GPS issue may have been the 911 bug, but that was quite a while ago.Jelly Screen seems non existent, but people like to report it never the less (even on moto phone....) Wifi issues? Might be because using inferior x12 modem so I'm disappointed. x16 modem is much better, which is what other flagships using 835 win at. Also oneplus 5 display isn't all that great, just 1080p, it does look good, HOWEVER no support for HDR content i've so ever wanted to view. but 1080p looks very good as any screen if few inches away from.
Kinda sick of hearing the jelly effect as a negative. It's not, its more of an accent flavor. Adding life to scrolling. As for those other issues i have never seen them outside of xXx's rom. Running stock 4.5.12 right now and took a nice drive and my device had me spot on every step of the 2 hour drive. it just depends on what you want. Best hope developer support for the note 8 is more than nothing. Oneplus devices live longer than most devices out there. hell the OPO is on oreo right now. go figure.
Overheating? This phone stays cool with heavy games for more than 40 minutes. I'm not saying as a pro for op5, the note 8 snapdragon version should be the same ( I don't know if there is a snap version for the note).
Jelly is present on EVERY op5, some people see it, some people don't. When I order it I think that the first thing to do was to check the jelly issue, it came and I use it for a day, I didn't remember the jelly issue until I read it in the forum again, and when I scroll fast up and down I see it, but I have to do a fast up and down scroll and be looking for it, I don't see it normal usage. Even it costs me a little to see it intentionally.
