Download Odin3 1.7 and try to flash a stock JM8 firmware with 512 pit re-partitioned. Don't worry, the Phone ! PC isn't a total brick. This happened to me and this should work for you.

try using odin 1.3 and not 1.7
first of all, take out the simcard and the ext sd-card.
turn off the kies (dont let it run in the tray)
start odin and put all the needed files in
start the phone in download mode and connect it to the computer.
start the rom burning.

Don't worry, keep your calm. Your phone is not a total brick, it's almost impossible. With Odin3 v1.7 and JM8 + 512 pit, you should be up and running in no time.
As long as you are able to get to Download mode, you can keep calm. Don't worry

My SGH-I337 bricked with the MF3 OTA update. Kies recovery and emergency recovery fails. ODIN with MDL fails, too. I'm guessing they all fail due to either my device being officially dorked, or my device has enough of MF3 that it won't let Kies or ODIN "download" to an older firmware. Does anyone know for sure whether or not Kies has access to the MF3 firmware? Is MF3 out there in the wild, yet, that I can flash with ODIN? I've searched and haven't found anything so far.

Yea, i have same issue. My phone is actually working but my root has been cleared out and ODIN fails with every single firmware version i have. It appears that i upgraded through air update to the latest one. MF3 which i was unable to find yet online.
I know this doesn't help your situation at all, but can you tell me: at what point does Odin fail? Can you post a log somehow?
I'm curious which part is causing it to reject Odin. The OTA included a new sbl2, sbl3, aboot, and something called "tz" (has something to do with security).

I'm pretty sure mine failed in ODIN exactly where the other poster showed failure. Essentially, it occurs when ODIN starts actually trying to write to the device. It's quick.
Just tried it again with a Kies Emergency Recovery. I poked around in my temp files and found the MDL bootloader, so I'm reasonably certain the Kies firmware is MDL (and I have forced a delete of all temp files each time I run it).
When using Kies, the error shown in the tiny tiny tiny text in the upper left corner of the S4 screen is:
START [224,1440]
SW REV. CHECK FAIL : fused : 2, Binary : 1

You have to go to Bestbuy that has Samsung experience and most of the people that went said their Best Buy Associate had no idea how to do this.

I'm stuck as well... I went to Our local Best Buy and they weren't able to do anything either. Their Samsung "Specialist" knew nothing... especially considering the misuse of terminology. I was honest and told her I had rooted the phone (when asked) but that I hadn't installed any custom ROMs... She said she would have to call Samsung tech support, but eventually said there was nothing she could do because it said "Custom" on my phone.
I asked if I could sign a waiver or something saying i assume liability, and she said they had nothing. I said I understood, but asked if she would at least plug it in to the laptop to see if the phone was recognized. She did, and it was recognized (surprise)... I was hoping that would have convinced her it was ok... No luck, I dejectedly left. If you can find someone that doesn't look closely or just doesn't care, you may be in luck.
*sigh* add me to the brick list.
Will have to wait for the weekend to see if I can get to an ATT store and pull the "you ****ed up my phone with your useless update" card..
Partially my fault for seeing the popup, and not thinking at the time due to being busy and just hitting accept without researching the update.
I managed to get the encrypted mdl version and extract it, I can still flash a pit file, but after that its a no go.
Does anyone know if Samsung brings the Kies servers down when updating/adding new firmwares? I know i'm probably being too hopeful in thinking that, but I didn't know if someone else may have noticed a pattern with it or if they just have regular maintenance when they bring the servers down for a bit.
I just too the attached screenshot a few minutes ago.

When you installed via odin, was there only 1 tar.md5 file (all in one) and you just added AP and flashed or did you have 3 files, flashing bootloader manually, rom manually and another one that i don't actually know what it is, like this guy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0QcggQ5bAs
also, re-partition was ticked off?
When i was flashing i couldn't figure out why my ROM ZIP had only 1 file and the guy on youtube had 3 files, than i found tutorial that suited me (all in one installation)... i still don't know why are there 2 different procedures...
what CSC region of your phone?
-On 1st post you had ext4 error, more likely your is HK or Some Asia model with bad ext4. If in this case someone had own HK handset successful flash KK update.
PS: I think better way for more people to help. you should post your AP,CP and CSC of your phone.

I seem to be stuck in a pickle, and at this rate this phone is seeing a swift throw to the curb by my friend who had given me this phone after getting his new one.
So, he had given me the phone and I was glad to finally move on from my issue-ridden HTC One M8, which was essentially on it's last legs. Even this low quality phone was more usable than the piece of junk I have. I got to work, and I installed the RebornROM, and I had went ahead to delete some of the bloatware.
However, it seems that my dumb self removed a Samsung app, and it seems to have triggered the FRP lock. I didn't think it was a big deal, seeing as how reverting back to stock was apparently most people's fix. I saw the Realterm fix, however I have 0 access to the home at all, and no SIM card. I downloaded the firmware, and I started up Odin to flash the stock firmware on. I was met with an error that I can only find scarce info on, and on YouTube it seems to be from Indian tech channels who are telling me to buy z3x-tools, and I'm not here to go ahead and try to do that.
To be more specific, my particular error is: SW REV. CHECK FAIL. DEVICE: 2. BINARY: 1. I could not find info on this error from xda, and I'm confused really. What's going on here?
As per promise to my friend, if I fail to find anything on this issue by tomorrow, the phone meets it's doom by the curb. After all, I'd really like to not use this janky phone anymore, as I'm quite tired of being unable to do nothing (to be more specific, it's using an older version of Cyanogen because I can't afford to use Sunshine to upgrade my bootloader and S-OFF, and everything on the phone is slowly stopping to work, in particular my camera app crashes instantly, flashlight does not work, a good chunk of the left side of my touch screen has stopped responding and I've had to use one-handed mode to text, along with flipping the screen, and it is a gigantic mess of issues.)
Please help out, xda. I've got nothing else I can really do for this phone, and here I was figuring this would just be an easy night of fixing the damn thing.
After some fiddling, I have now gotten an error on startup that isn't even the FRP lock anymore; it's a notice telling me to use the Smart Switch app's emergency backup. Attempted to install it, and after jumping through multiple hoops and several fixes, I am stumped at "Error 1152: Temporary files failed to copy" upon attempting to open it's installer.
Pushing on, I have received a new error. I instead am just attempting to install the AP file, and I now receive another error: KERNEL REV. CHECK FAIL. DEVICE:1, BINARY:0. Even more fun, because there's even less information on this one. In fact, I have only found others crying for help as I am. Regardless, I am now trying the other 3 files. BL outright fails to download, CP has replaced the screen I saw originally, instead putting the kernel error up top instead of the old FRP lock error I'd get. CSC seems to have put the FRP lock error back though. Afterward, I had a feeling that maybe BL will work now? I simply got my usual old SW REV error I mentioned already.
From here, I learned of an issue here. I think I need a different AP file. My phone is the MetroPCS version. The only reason I say this is because I realized the AP file caused the Smart Switch error, then CP -> CSC brought me back to the failure. The KERNEL REV issue occurs when trying to use my AP, with these logs:
<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..

Can you get into recovery and see which firmware you are on? Does your phone boot into the os? I've been through a lot of these issues. I just recently didn't have a sim, so no real term, and had the Google lock, but there is a way out of it.

I ran into the same issue on another on5 when I had unlocked it for a friend, rooted it, then stupidly took off oem unlock and and rebooted to give back to him. I had to Odin the exact firmware I was running in order for it to work and fix the phone. I was running a t mobile older version ( an APF1) while trying to flash an (APL1) which wouldn't allow me to flash the AP partition in Odin. Once I flashed the full APF1 firmware with a factory reset, it booted normally, but unrooted, of course. Finding the correct firmware should hopefully fix your problem if your circumstances were like mine.
Check out these links. There are also other links and other threads to check out as well. Also check out sammobile.com as they have the the stock firmware for this phone.

Here's another thread to check out as well. Make sure to use the latest version of odin as well. Oh and one more thing it you're gonna use any custom Rom on this device I suggest only using the one by @SuperStars as all the others are for the Indian variant and will cause sound yo not work at all on any other Varian even though they claim to work for the metro/tmobile variants. Superstars can be found here:

Check out these links. There are also other links and other threads to check out as well. Also check out sammobile.com as they have the the stock firmware for this phone.
You can also pm me for link to my drive account as I have both of the baseband versions of this firmware. Hope this helps

Here's another thread to check out as well. Make sure to use the latest version of odin as well. Unfortunately, all of these are not the solutions to my issues. I require the AP, CP, CSC, etc. versions of the firmware that can be sent through Odin. I have no access to my recovery or OS due to the lock already being on.
All the links I sent you were to the odin flashable .tar files which is all the files needed to get your phone up and going again. Most of the links will show the download as a zip file which you would extract after downloading then use odin to flash the extracted files to your phone

Are you sure? I downloaded from every link and it seemed to be a standard recovery .zip file from each one; that or the link was expired, deleted, etc.

Sorry to bump this, but I need a response to this now. I have no files to flash and my old phone just bricked, so...
Can anyone help me out? I need an Odin flash in order to do anything, in which nobody has provided me any reliable file. The last guy in the thread earlier from a couple months ago gave me broken links instead of anything, and then didn't respond after I made him aware of this. Someone please.

Can you get into recovery and see which firmware you are on? Does your phone boot into the os? I've been through a lot of these issues. I just recently didn't have a sim, so no real term, and had the Google lock, but there is a way out of it.
This leads me to think perhaps I have a corrupted file. However, I have found 1 single link for the firmware. Perhaps someone can help me?

Hi there. Did you ever get an Odin link that worked? Is that the best/only way to unlock a Galaxy on5 Metro PCS?

I have no clue. I never got a Odin link that worked. I need it to make my phone work, which is why I'm asking, since nobody seems to have what I'm asking for.

Use the PL1 firmware. The most spread around one is the PF1, these should work. If not, I'm not sure what to say. Browse a bit more until you can find a solution. This fixed my phone finally.

What kind of phone? How did you load the firmware? Did it bypass the Google lock?

1. Umm... MetroPCS On5. :b
2. ODIN.
3. I didn't have a Google lock, I had a FRP lock triggered by custom binaries.

Got the G955USQS5DSE5 update on my sprint S8+ last night and it basically killed my network connection. I have tried a bunch of things and nothing is working. Do I need anything special to downgrade to the previous firmware? Also, is there a best place to get the file? My phone isn't rooted or anything. It's all stock.

From what you quoted ( G955USQSS5FSE5 ) you can only down grade to versions that had a version 5 bootloader ( 5th number from right of firmware name ). In your case version 5.
Firmware can be downloaded from sammobile or updato ( websites ). There are other sites as well.
You will need latest Samsung drivers ( for PC ) and Odin version 3.13.3 to flash firmware.
As for network issues don't know what you have tried but you could start with wiping cache in recovery mode.

Thank you for the instructions. I guess my only problem is getting Odin to work. I keep getting an error after hitting start.

Finally tried a different PC after everything. It actually begins to attempt to flash but then it fails with a FAIL! (Auth) error.
Is there something I need to do? I run Odin as Admin.

Auth errors are usually flashing older firmware than on device

It will also help to know what Odin is saying before the failed message.
What firmware are you try to flash?
After downloading firmware did you unzip the file?
