Hi,
i tried CrDroid and some stuff. Now i get the information about unlocked bootloader and have to wait 5sec for boot.
I used my twrp to get back to nougat b05 stock firmware, but i still got this notification. I never had this before with unlocked BL and rooted system.
Completely return to stock, unlock, twrp, etc. or is there a flashable zip for this?
How can is disable the notification?
Its a A2017G.
Thank you

That is extremely weird. I had that screen since the moment that I unlocked the bootloader. A friend with an OP3T has had it since he did it, just like me. Seems to be your case alone
I guess you might want to get rid of it for aesthetic/boot time issues, but be warned that:
1. If you use the ZIP on Apps, Themes and Mods, there is a chance that your phone will be black screened.
2. If you get rid of it, then hard brick the phone later, you might be able to use that screen to get to fastboot (if you flash an older aboot) or the recovery. It is really handy for that stuff. Sometimes the key combinations stop doing what they should, dunno why.
I personally flashed that zip on RR and it worked like a charm. but I prefer having a backup plan

I have the A2017U model. I read the 7.0 update (B15) was buggy and slow. Will I need to be on 7.0 to get 7.1.1?
Opinions?

Just update until it doesn't leave you anymore, if you don't get to the latest (B29? I don't know) you have to download the latest official zip (BE SURE IT IS FOR THE A2017U!) and unzip it to get the update.zip from inside, then throw that one on the internal storage and go to Settings - Updates
On the A2017G the last 2 updates have zero problems. We had B01-02 (7.0), then B03-04-05 (7.1.1) and on both 04 and 05 they fixed everything. I'm positive that the U firmware is even better than the G's.
Also you can rollback officially and with the BL locked anytime you want (data will be wiped though), just get the official zip for the version you want and do the process mentioned above

So updating forward doesnt wipe data, but rolling back does?
Also, how is root support/BL unlocking on latest firmwares? Still available to me?
Thanks for your input.

Updating doesn't wipe, however keep an eye out just to be extra careful. Just look somewhere on the Updates page, and it'll say "This update will not wipe your data".
Root and bootloader unlocking is fine, and it seems that you can use axon7toolkit to do all that stuff easily. Otherwise just unlock on an older version an update, there's nothing you can do (apart from issuing the command) that will relock your phone
BUT BUT BUT I think that bootloader unlocking wipes your internal storage and data

unlock wipes data... be careful.
my recomendation is if you feel comfortable with stock, upgrade, you cannot unlock with nougat, but you can downgrade, then unlock.
If you like to test custom roms, I recommend to unlock, then upgrade, I use unlocked bootloader with stock rom and otas with no problem at all, I flash stock recovery from twrp, upgrade, then flash again twrp from edl, root and do whatever you want, when otas appear, reflash stock and upgrade, then twrp again....
Im now on aosp extended, really good rom, with really good performance and better battery life. my main problem is the camera, but I find that flashing super gapps (with google camera) works really good.
Its a very simple camera, but works really good, as stock in auto, you lose manual and raw, but I dont care about that things

You can't unlock with Nougat?? I heard you can simply use MiFlash to get Fastboot, then get there and do your stuff. That's what axon7toolkit does anyways

Hi, i just got the moto g5 plus, i always have phones that from the moment i bought them they wouldn recive any updates, so i realy didnt care if unlocking the bootloader installing new recoverys will affect the OTA updates. So i have a couple of questions.
1- first i want to at least have a stock firmware just in case, but i cant figure out which one should i download from here
firmware.center/firmware/Motorola/Moto%20G5%20Plus/Stock/
Before i always use sammobile.com and it was really easy to found a stock firmware from Argentina. My compilation number is: npns25.137-15-11 this means that i suppose to download that one XT1681-XT1683_POTTER_BRASIL_LATAM_MEXICO_7.0_NPN25.137-15_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip ?
2- it is possible to unlock the bootloader and root your phone without installing a new recovery? i was reading some post and when you change your recovery or you modify something the OTA update will stop working. they are some methods like the magisk but they seem i little bit too complex for me and i don't want to do it every time that a new update is available.
thanks for the help, and sorry for my English i am from Argentina.
1. yes, but any build will flash and run, so it doesn't really matter that much...
2. Nope. You need to flash TWRP in order to root. This is because the stock recovery will only flash signed images... You can use Magisk, after backing up a stock build. Anytime there is an OTA, just restore to that system image, Flash the original recovery via fastboot, and then take the OTA. Once you have it, flash TWRP again, and restore to your other build. Or just run a custom room like Lineage or RR, and this whole thing isn't really an issue anymore.

yeah i know i had a samsung galaxy s3 until now, and i always have cyanogen, slimrom or now lineage, but this is the first device that i have one that will get updates (at least 1 more :S) and i want to seize that
i will start downloading that file just in case
1- ok so unlocking the bootloader doesn't affect updates only when you modify files? when the update is installing is basically comparing the files that you have with the ones that you suppose to have and if there is something different it will fail? its something like that?
2-dumb question how do you do a full backup in the stock recovery there is no option no do a nandroid backup or it will appear after i just unlock the bootloader?
I'd like to give this Nuclear ROM a try. My device is bootloader unlocked and currently has no OS on it. My device was rooted and last thing I tried doing with it was installing the recent stock Nougat release. Reading that one thread I never went through the steps of restoring what was needed I believe in step two to be able to put stock Nougat on it.
I don't care about stock anymore and will try out this ROM. Holding Power and Volume Down I can get to the options for recovery mode/etc. When I select recovery mode the device reboots and sits at the bootloader unlocked screen. Regardless of which option I select the device reboots and sits at the bootloader unlocked screen. If it's bricked so be it. If it can be restored can anyone point to a thread or have any suggestions?
Flash full stock Nougat:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/general/guide-flashing-stock-firmware-t3637235
Files for fastboot you have to find:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/general/page1
After one boot you can flash twrp & custom rom, f.e. Nuclear. @lip008
Thanks. I just needed a refresher. Everything for fast boot was installed and TWRP was still in the folder. For some reason i thought i was worse off than i was.
Back up and running with this NucleaROM. I may retire the s8+ and go back to this as my DD.
Hello all,
Been a LONG while since I've actively played around with rooting and unlocking an android device. I finally "upgraded" from my very aged Galaxy S4 to the Moto E4 XT1768. I have successfully unlocked the bootloader, got TWRP installed, rooted with Magisk, and gotten Xposed installed with my favorite modules.
This morning, I got a prompt that a new security update is available, and like a noob, I tried to take the update. This resulted in me getting stuck in a loop where the phone only wanted to boot into TWRP. I got that fixed thanks to XDA, got the pending and failing update completely cleared and am booted back into the device normally, and have frozen the moto update service.... but now...
Is there a way without completely flashing back to stock rom? I know how to take titanium or nand/twrp backups, but I feel like this would still be hours of work to go back to stock, flash, re-root restore all apps blah blah. what are the chances of there being a dirty-flashable zip put out at this point?
The way I normally do these type of upgrades is to download the firmware (from here), use fastboot commands to wipe (erase) and flash the needed partitions (everything but data and recovery), boot to TWRP - flash the no-verity-opt-encrypt.zip & root, and then reboot to system - done. It's easy enough for me, but I know some prefer to being able to use a flashable zip in TWRP.
Also, I have to ask - did you get your e4 cheap? It's was replaced by the e5, some other phones seem to be getting replaced like the G6 series (it's gone on clearance at some places), so they can be had cheap.

Flashing back to stock and taking the updates is really the best way. Unless you can find a complete firmware package of the new update which of course takes back to stock as well. Really the only way to do it. @MotoJunkie01 makes some TWRP flashable stock roms. And he also creates the partition updater which updates your oem partition and other important things that can't be done in the Twrp flashable stock ROM.

Speaking of that, @ALI12 just posted a stock firmware package for the NCQS26.69-64-10 build. He gave me approval to use it to update my firmware thread to the latest build, so I'll be updating that OP shortly.

This will be for the XT1766, correct? Or will same build work for XT1768 (me thinks not)?
So what would the easiest/quickest way be to get updated with all of my apps and data intact? Twrp backup of data partition? Or would there be any way to do this without wiping data at all?

If you're going to slash a firmware package you'll want to wipe everything. Especially data. Make a backup of your data first of course. After you flash TWR P you can try restoring your data and see if everything comes back. but everything in your downloads folder and all of that will be gone once you format data to remove encryption again.
Hey all, so I had the DotOS vanilla rom installed for a while now but I think something broke when I flashed it so it was very glitchy. Yesterday I decided I just wanted to go back to stock but kinda screwed the phone over and bricked it while using MSMDownloadTool. I'm so confused as to which one I should use to reset my phone. People are saying contradicting things like you need to use the correct version of MSMDownloadTool and also it does matter if you have a T-Mobile branded phone.... yatta yatta yatta...
I'm just extremely confused about how the hell I'm supposed to standardize the process of flashing roms and such onto this phone without running into walls in the dark and hoping it randomly will work. Is this just expected? Also if someone could please give the steps needed to get my phone back to stock and working that would be very appreciated.

You might not have to use msm tool if your bootloader is still unlocked. Msm tool should be last resort and is only needed if you can't enter your rom and bootloader is locked. So let me know if it's unlocked yet. You should still be able to get into your bootloader holding volume up while booting.

Well I fixed it by using a different computer entirely to run MSMDownloadTool. I was able to get into fastboot mode but every time I tried manually flashing the partition images it did nothing.
So now I'm on OxygenOS 11.0.1.2 and am curious to know what I would need to do to debrand my phone and root it... the right way.
Debrand for what? The way I would root is install twrp then flash magisk from twrp. You can fastboot boot this twrp then make it permanent in the advanced menu.
