I'd like to give this Nuclear ROM a try. My device is bootloader unlocked and currently has no OS on it. My device was rooted and last thing I tried doing with it was installing the recent stock Nougat release. Reading that one thread I never went through the steps of restoring what was needed I believe in step two to be able to put stock Nougat on it.
I don't care about stock anymore and will try out this ROM. Holding Power and Volume Down I can get to the options for recovery mode/etc. When I select recovery mode the device reboots and sits at the bootloader unlocked screen. Regardless of which option I select the device reboots and sits at the bootloader unlocked screen. If it's bricked so be it. If it can be restored can anyone point to a thread or have any suggestions?
Flash full stock Nougat:

Files for fastboot you have to find:

After one boot you can flash twrp & custom rom, f.e. Nuclear. @lip008
Thanks. I just needed a refresher. Everything for fast boot was installed and TWRP was still in the folder. For some reason i thought i was worse off than i was.
Back up and running with this NucleaROM. I may retire the s8+ and go back to this as my DD.

I do not know if this question has been brought up before, but I am in desperate need of an answer. I recently got my 6P and immediately proceeded to unlock the bootloader and flash TWRP to start loading custom roms. I decided to start use Pure Nexus with it's accompanying gapps package but when I go to reboot the device, I am stuck at the circles boot animation. I decide to try CM13 nightlies and the same problem occurs. After searching online for some time, I realize I needed to flash a SuperSU file from recovery that flashes a custom boot.img. I flash Version 2.66 and restart the device. After 5+ minutes on the boot screen, I decided I am stuck still. What do I need to do, I am unable to boot the device.
Thanks.
I'd use Nexus Root Toolkit to unbrick your phone just so that it is working to start with. Then follow the steps more closely for installing a rom. You'll be doing something wrong, I've had no issues!! Best of luck with this.
hmm I'm not sure. this is happening to me right now as I try to restore my backups... maybe has to do with twrp's system handling/mounting, but I just don't know.
I wanted to factory reset my phone and I was on marshmallow. I had the update.zip file which I used while upgrading fronm lollipop to marshmallow. I thought that "apply update from sd card" in stock recovery and using that same update.zip would be a better way of doing the Factory Reset. The update's installation was aborted because of Status 7 Error Code and since then my phone is stuck in bootloop. The Moto Logo shows up and an android with the "Erasing" written below it follows and then it goes back and follows the same routine. So how can I restore my phone to stock official firmware on Locked Bootloader? I have never rooted my phone or unlocked the bootloader.
Please Help. I'm dying without my phone.
Since you messed up your phone, at this point you might as well try to flash stock firmware in fastboot. Can't get any worse.
Will he need an unlocked bootloader to be able to fastboot stock? I'm new to Motorolas. But I agree, that you need to follow a typical protocol - applying an update.zip when you are already on the update and you are stock, is not typical. Probably causing the issue. I think you can salvage it, I don't think you cannot recover from it. But I could be wrong. Set up Android SDK and go through the processes you'd need to unlock the bootloader and root. Once you have those set up, you can try to fastboot the lollipop return to stock tool.
Read through the mm release thread. In the beginning there are some posts from locked users who successfully flashed stock firmware to recover from issues.
Hey everyone I just flashed the stock ROM on my device and just after that I got the update, when I clicked onto update my device just got moved to TWRP and didn't flashed the update too and finally the main issue is that my device just stuck in the TWRP. When I turn on my device It directly loads to the TWRP, I need to go to bootloader menu and then hit start to turn on my device.
Could anyone tell me how to solve this issue??

Can't auto process 'stock' OTA updates with custom recovery. Must use stock recovery plus meet several other prerequisites that are difficult to satisfy on a rooted/modded device. Best option is to restore the nandroid you made before updating. What, no backup?? Reinstall stock image and hope for the best.
It's been a while since I unlocked my mobile's bootloader, following the steps of a you tube video specifically from the Tecnocat channel. Everything was going well until I thought I did not have any system because whenever I started it it went straight to recovery. Install roms and the same. Until I decided to go directly to the bootloader and start it from there. Of surprise it worked, there was no problem with the system. Everything works fine, but every time I turn off the phone and turn it on it starts in recovery and I have to boot it in fasboot mode and from there start the system. It's tedious, and for example I can not do restarts. I already reprimand the recovery from different sources, and I can not find a solution. Please help
Similar issue
I'm having a similar issue except mine started after mistakenly installing a OTA update (Sept. I think) on a xt1687. Rooted (magisk) with TWRP recovery on stock ROM. Every time I boot it goes into recovery mode, and the only way to get into the phone is through TWRP Reboot > Bootloader, then Start.
I tried flashing the latest stock ROM I could find, but still have the same issue. Only now I'm getting nagged with Install System Update New Version NPNS25.137-93-18. I know better now to follow the OTA update guides, but how do I get the phone back to the way it was before the update? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Hey all, so I had the DotOS vanilla rom installed for a while now but I think something broke when I flashed it so it was very glitchy. Yesterday I decided I just wanted to go back to stock but kinda screwed the phone over and bricked it while using MSMDownloadTool. I'm so confused as to which one I should use to reset my phone. People are saying contradicting things like you need to use the correct version of MSMDownloadTool and also it does matter if you have a T-Mobile branded phone.... yatta yatta yatta...
I'm just extremely confused about how the hell I'm supposed to standardize the process of flashing roms and such onto this phone without running into walls in the dark and hoping it randomly will work. Is this just expected? Also if someone could please give the steps needed to get my phone back to stock and working that would be very appreciated.

You might not have to use msm tool if your bootloader is still unlocked. Msm tool should be last resort and is only needed if you can't enter your rom and bootloader is locked. So let me know if it's unlocked yet. You should still be able to get into your bootloader holding volume up while booting.

Well I fixed it by using a different computer entirely to run MSMDownloadTool. I was able to get into fastboot mode but every time I tried manually flashing the partition images it did nothing.
So now I'm on OxygenOS 11.0.1.2 and am curious to know what I would need to do to debrand my phone and root it... the right way.
Debrand for what? The way I would root is install twrp then flash magisk from twrp. You can fastboot boot this twrp then make it permanent in the advanced menu.
