Charging issue?! Please help - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Nexus 7 2012 tablet (with CM12).
It worked for a few years but I have a kind of charging problem.
I plugged up to charger and for one sec it charges than for one sec it don't. I left it for hours but it only drained the battery and discharged.
I thought that the usb connector was damaged so I replaced it, and I also replaced the battery because it was in bad condition.
Now I still has the same charging-not charging problem. (I tried the new battery with the old usb and the old battery with the new usb and still have the problem)
Any idea what to do?

NOTE: I plugged in an OTG pendrive and it worked fine.
It only has problem with charging.

It's a known issue with Nexus 7 (2012) devices. You need to find a good cable, good charger and probably need to plug in / plg out the charger several times. Sometimes it may help, too, to clean the connector.

Weird Problem

My Atom has been working excelent for more than 6 months.
The problem is that when I try to charge it through the AC or a USB it doesnt charge anymore, the orange light doesnt turn on and the symbol in the phone turns only for a few seconds fron the battery into a wall plug, but then nothing...
I took out the battery and then charge it and worked but only when the device is off completely not when it is on or on stand by...
What can I do?
I just made a self diagnostic and when it gets to the part of the USB/AC Charging it says battery 100% charged (it passes the test) and that is not true, battery is at 18% right know
Same...
I have the same issue where my battery always shows as 100% even when you use it to 1% its still shows 100% and then it just quit when it runs out. Damn weird.... Just happened today and I only had the Atom Exec for 2 months... Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks!

It was faulty battery not reporting correct capacity & usage.
I had a similar problem with my Atom. It could not charge the device from USB at first, then it got worse and stopped to charge from wall outlet. What I found out was that the connection plate at mini-USB port of Atom was worn out slighlty. I solved the problem by forcing usb cable connector into a mini-USB port, so it went further a bit (half a millimeter) and now everything is Ok - no problems to charge from either USB cable or wall charger.
I had the same problem, and found out that one pin in the mini usb socket bent downwards, fixed it myself and now its working fine

Mate! You gotta bring it to the SC... Its the fuse. The charging loop gose through the fuse and since it doesn't charge - most likely its the fuse (yo can test it with the normal tester...) If its not the fuse, it can be either of two - UEM Chip (Universal Energy Managmnt) or your PA (power amp). You can test it by measuring the resistance on the very left contacts of the battery ON YOUR PHONE! If the resistance close to 1 - its PA...
Wouldn't recomend to replace it yourself... Go for repair centre.
It's going to be a loose USB connection...
I did it on mine a while back, you have to hit the patch cable fitting in vigorously to the unit, and then from that day forward, no problems with charging!
Clean battery + phone><batt contacts if that makes you happy (it made me reassured)

[Q] Nexus 7 Charging Issues

Hello;
So far I am really enjoying the Nexus 7, except for charging issues. I can only charge it via usb from my Chromebook, when I plug it into the Asus charger or my Nexus S charger, nothing happens; my Nexus S will charge using either charger. I have tried doing a factory reset several times and the problem still exists. Also, I haven'f flashed it and currently I only have Google Apps loaded on it, the latest official Android update (4.1.2) has been done.
Suggestions?
Thanks
Sheldon
If I use the charger and cable that came with the N7, everything works as it should. I tried an alternate charger/cable one time and It didn't show it was charging and didn't show the charge % increasing. But I left it plugged in a couple of hours and when I unplugged it, it updated the battery % and it had gained charge. I think it can be a reporting issue as opposed to a failure to charge. There is something different about the N7 charger or cable that makes other charger/cable combinations report differently.

Charging problems - only charging over USB

Hi there,
I have a big problem with charging my Galaxy S4. It only charges with my notebook USB Port, my AC-adapter does not work.
In the battery menu I can see that AC is connected, when I plug my adapter in. But charging does not work with my device.
Over USB I can charge slowly. This isn't a software problem, I have done some resets and firmware changes since the problem.
Maybe my phone got a little bit wet earlier. Could this be the problem? Can I fix this with changing the USB port part of the hardware?

Yes, I tried another cable but had no success
I dunno if I can ask it here, but i don't charge over usb, i mean it just "hold" the power level for me. Is that normal ?
Is your AC outlet working ?
Having issue where S4 only charges with USB and vibrates when using AC charger
I've been having some issues with my S4. I did recently get it a little wet, but it's working fine in all cases except charging. I have my phone next to my bed charging every night. I noticed it was dead one morning, but I figured I didn't connect the charger properly. The next night I noticed it was vibrating every 5 seconds or so, but the phone had turned off due to a low battery. Very strange behavior.
I realized that it would start charging, but it would stop between 1-3 minutes. The the phone would vibrate and not charge.
I've ready MANY posts from others with the same issue and someone mentioned their phone charges over USB. Seemed odd, but I tried it and voila, my phone charged perfectly. I have many samsung cables, none of which work. It's definitely not the cable. I can plug a samsung cable into my phone connected to AC and it doesn't work. I pull the USB portion out of the AC charger and plug into a computer and it immediately and consistently charges. The battery holds its charge as expected, so it doesn't appear to be a battery issue.
I've tried the developer mode options - no luck.
I've tried bending the charging prong - no luck.
I've tried blowing out the charging port with compressed air - no luck.
I recently got an update pushed to my phone (Sprint), but I don't think it was happening right after the update. Seems like a likely software issue.
I did get my phone a little wet recently, actually it was my young children throwing water at me.
I've read so many posts and nobody seems to have a good answer for this issue. Any suggestions are appreciated.

[Q] Charging is only possible through USB

Hi
I have the Galaxy S5 for about 1 month now and I like it very much. But two days before, I noticed issues with charging the phone through the AC Adapter (Samsung original USB Charger) - the phone did not charge during the night. So the phone stopped charging with the wall charger. I tried out many other USB chargers and also USB 3.0 cable. Without success!
It charges just fine when it's plugged into my laptop or desktop PC.
When the phone is turned on and I plug the charger in, nothing happens. The battery condition in android is still "discharging". But when the phones is turned off and plugged into the wall charger, it vibrates in intervals and the screen stays blank (the little battery animation doesn't appear). Removing the battery and replacing it does not help. I tried almost everything...
Has anybody an idea? Otherwise it seems to be a hardware problem. Same issue also here: Androidforums
I'm on OMEGA 5 ROM now with OMEGA Kernel. I cannot believe that the OMEGA Kernel has something to do with this issue.
Thanks for any help

It seems that it was a hardware problem, probably because of some water inside the USB connector. After some days I blow out the socket with a spray duster and since this time, the issue never happened again. :good:
I think, I will never test the water resistance again...
Did water enter the usb port and was the flap closed or not?

The flap was closed of course. I don't know if water has entered into the socket, but I think not.
One day after my post, the issue happened again. Now, I have updated to OMEGA 5.1 and flashed the Samsung stock kernel instead of the Omega Kernel. Now, the issue never occured again.
I cannot believe that this is because of the kernel, because the issue was also when the phone was turned off.
Now for 1 week, I never encountered the problem again

Battery drained and wont charge anymore

Hi,
My machine would not turn on, so i plugged it straight into the charger without a battery and it worked fine.
I ordered a new battery and that worked great for a week or so and then it just wouldn't charge anymore.
after a day the machine was left with 1% and kept shutting down.
I would plug it into the charger and it would show the charging symbol that comes when the screen is turned off but no charge would go into the battery.
the machine works fine when i plug a cable directly into the battery port.
I tried changing the mini usb port flex cable, didnt help.
i tried many different chargers and cables all fit to carry 2A (and even a little more) current.
I really dont know what to do... the battery is new, all the cables are plugged in properly (inside the machine aswell i made sure all flex cables are well plugged).
Any ideas?
Thanks!
btw could someone tell me how i can charge the battery independently? so i can tell if the problem is with the machine or the battery?
Thank you!
You could try the following (has proven to work on some occasions):
1) remove the battery connector from the motherboard
2) plug in the usb cable
3) turn the device on
4)plug the battery cable to the motherboard while the device is turned on (i know, sounds sketchy)
5)turn the device off
6)let it charge for about an hour
7)turn it back on again (without the USB cable attached) and see if it actually charged.
