I have not ever done this before, but I found this one

I was wondering if any of these are legit or do they all fall into the realm of too good to be true. I have called at&t and they stated that I could not have an unlock code so that is why I am going down this route, if it turns out to be legit.
Anyway I welcome your feedback about what may be just a dumbass question, LOL.
p.s. the only reason I am looking at this guy's page is that he has +50000 reviews with 99.8% quality.
my one experience with an ebay unlock code was it bricked the phone I was using. After doing further research I found that this was a constant for that phone. I have not seen any posts about unlocking an Aria yet but I also have not been looking for them since I am on AT&T so there is no need to unlock the phone for a different carrier currently.
that's the same guy i used to unlock 3 at&t phone. i never had a problem
If you are going out of the country then call att and tell them that. they will give you your unlock code for free all youll have to do is get a different (Non att) sim.

They changed that policy. Now you have to wait for your contract to run out before they will unlock your phone, even if you tell them you're traveling. I tried calling them and having them unlock it, and that's what they told me. I was really disappointed too, because they've unlocked my phone before and never gave me any trouble because of the contract.
Maybe if I had threatened to unlock it anyhow, I might have had better luck– but I doubt it.
Ya I tried calling them too. Told them my situation and it was denied. I guess I will try this guy. At the most I am out 10 bucks.

Strange, I just re-upped my contract when buying my Aria, and unlocked my phone with the code from ATT tech support for free. I do go internation a few times/year, so that may be a flag that I am not entirely lying, but it was no problem. Also, I used chat, instead of phone...they gave the my code in 10 seconds.
So I took the plunge. Fast service from this guy. Bought yesterday and got today. Went by t-mobile store and borrowed a sim. Put in unlock code and let me in the system. Rebooted to verify with t-mobile sim. Did not ask for code the second time.
Altogether happy. Me -$13.00. Phone unlocked.
Buyer beware. Cannot guarantee same results.

I also used blowfish06 to try and unlock my HTC Aria. He couldn't unlock it for whatever reason and immediately refunded my money. I'd use him again.

just curious so please forgive me but how did that go, you walked into store..umm, can I borrow a sim ? they just hand them out to try out ?
I spoke with ATT tech (actually chat and then called to verify..) and they said they will give unlock code in 90 days from day of activation, no problem on their part, no cost.
i'm curious about all this too and still with a locked HTC Aria.
I went to the ebay link and read everything.
At some point it says:
"...be advised I cannot do refunds if phone asking for a PIN (personal code) which is password set on the phone (?)"

Well if this is my phone and I have the personal password, then I might have it.
When inserting a SIM card the phone says:
"SIM network unlock PIN", SOOOOO, I don't get it... will write the guy an email about it and hear what he says about it...
Eager to unlock this phone!
So..
1. I have heard various things from people regarding what AT&T will do for them. I would call them first and if they will unlock it for you then great. I spoke to them and they would not give it to me and told me that they had an exclusive right to the phone for the foreseeable future.
2. I did just walk into the t-mobile store and ask for a sim. The girl looked at me puzzled and said they are 20 bucks. I told here I need it for five seconds to unlock my phone. She said that Phones don't do that. I said that I have the code. She gave me a used sim.
In conclusion I think that I did go searching for a credible way to do this. I don't want a million people telling me what at&t's policy is since I did call them though. At any rate I did unlock my phone so I am good.

May I ask you and if you remember what was the message the phone displayed before you unlock it with the t-moblie SIM card?
It was the message "SIM network unlock PIN" or what did it say?
I believe what you did, I've done certain type of things in past, walking into a store and asking for those sort of things... lol... great that it worked!
Ya it was something like "SIM NETWORK UNLOCK" not a personal unlock and I had to put in the 8 digit unlock code I bought off ebay. The previous post of mine was just about all the people stating all the AT&T policies that they have heard of and asking why I didn't just call them when I stated in my first post that I did. Also ya social engineering worked great there as they gave me some old sim to use they they found in a desk that didn't work but had a different network ID on it so it would prompt me for the SIM UNLOCK code.
seems then that I 'm having the same message, will try buying a code from the ebay guy then.
thanks a lot for your response.
PS. Calling AT&T wont work for me either as I bought the phone through ebay and I have not and will never have AT&T phone # or something to just simply call them and say 'hey I bought one of your phones over ebay, would you please give me the unlock code?' lol...
just bought a code from the ebay seller... will see how it develops and if the code works.
I will post results and everything related once I have the code
universal Sim
I have tried a few online sellers and they say a code is not available for my aria. Bummer, hopefully that will change. I remembered I had one of those universal sim chips like a Rebel Sim. I sort of works. Sometimes when I turn the phone on I can manually choose the network and get service, but most of the time it won't connect. Maybe I can buy a newer version of the universal sim.
Well dude, I got to say that the ebay deal really worked for me!!! Couldn't be more happy!
Was a little skeptical about it but just got the code on the email minutes ago and worked right away!!!
Cost me 9.95 because the price was reduced and paid with PayPal. Bought it in the morning and got the code minutes ago.
There's another ebay seller with the same price/offer which seems to work too (good feedback too)

What phone did you tried to unlock?
---------------
Thanks to breakeven and xda-developers forum!!!
I decided to test this out today for fun.
I tried 3 different ebay unlockers (all were rated as top-sellers) and all 3 were unable to unlock my off-contract Aria (from Amazon). They did, however, offer to try on another server, at around 2-3x the original cost, which I refused and was refunded my money.
I really don't care if my Aria can be unlocked since I have no intention of leaving AT&T anyway, but I thought I'd share MY experience with the rest of you. YOUR experience may vary.
On a side note, I unlocked 2 different models of Blackberry (again, just for fun) a few days ago using one of those ebay sellers with no problem. So I wouldn't worry too much about getting ripped off (as long as they are top rated sellers).
tongas
hey tongas would you mind telling us which ebay seller unlocked you Aria?
Thanks

Yep, this info is nothing new. I don't know about ATT, but this same method didn't help me with my Verizon Droid 2 Global.
I called three times and all of those times they told me I need to be a Verizon customer.
Besides, they have CRM to store customer contacts in the database. If you try to contact them too many times it will show up on their records and they might think you are pulling some kind of a scam.
worked like a charm. was on the phone less than 5 minutes
I just called AT&T in the US and told them I was visiting another country for a few days. If you're a customer in good standing (no unpaid bills), they'll unlock the phone for you.
Still Works, Different Phone Number
I called the phone number that is posted on the original message, and I was told to call customer service.
1-800-331-0500
From there I put in my phone number and option 0 until I talked to someone.
I was given the unlocking code without any problem and was even told the AT&T website to deal with my wife's IPhone
I haven't tried the code yet, just hoping that it will all work out

This does not work anymore. AT&T changed and restricted their unlock procedure A LOT. See here.
Update on At&t
At&t will no longer provide the unlock code unless you are a current or former At&t customer in good standing, pledge them your first born yadayadayada. They have previously unlocked devices for me, but even tech support isn't allowed to do it anymore. They will send you to the "unlock request" page.

Hello All,
I've been spending the last couple weeks researching the topic of flashing my Sprint Galaxy S4 onto the Verizon network. It is currently in service on Sprint. I don't want to do anything illegal and I'm not looking to flash onto the pre-paid plans. I just want my phone to work with their standard edge plan.
Most of the Verizon reps that I've talked with about this are very quick to dismiss the possibility and tell me I should just get one of their 'free' phones instead. However, I have been able to talk with a few that assured me it is possible and that Verizon would allow me to bring the phone onto their network. I'm more concerned with the 'let me' part, as I am fully aware that the phone is technically capable.
In the beginning of this process I was less familiar with the concept of flashing the information into my phone, but I've learned that this is an essential piece to the puzzle. I was hoping that Verizon would help me do so in order to gain me as a customer, but all signs point to 'no' on that front. I've been to the stores a couple times and talked with tech support / port department a few times as well.
After reading a ton on xda and various other places on the web, I've concluded that this something I should be able to do on my own. I have a technical background and I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty. Unfortunately, I feel like I'm missing something and I was hoping that someone would be able to help guide me toward the next steps.
A little background:
Prior to any of this, I had rooted my device, installed custom recovery, and a custom system 'rom'. After initiating the carrier switch research, I unlocked my sim following the excellent instructions here on xda and I unlocked my phone with the SPC/MSL from Sprint. I also changed the SPC to all 0's using DFS, since it sounds like that's what Verizon would want in order to help me. This particular device has not left my possession since the original purchase from sprint, so I'm not concerned about any 'bad esn' numbers or anything.
As I mentioned before, I've read quite a bit about this already but I feel like I was unable to derive the information needed for the next steps. I apologize if some feel like my 'search skills' are inadequate, but most of the articles/posts I've come across talk about flashing to prepaid using a 'donor' phone, which definitely sounds sketchy. Others are quick to offer 'flashing services' for a fee, or charge for special profile data and scripts.
From what Verizon has told me, I'll need a sim in my phone during activation so they can correlate the device serial with the sim serial in their database. This is apparently required to start a new line in their system.
TLDR;
I have tools to flash my device from sprint to verizon, but I'm unsure what magic values in the phone need to be changed to point to the Verizon service.
I know I need a Verizon PRL which seems somewhat easy to get, and perhaps change something like the MSID? Is there anything else?
Can someone please point me to more literature or give me a hint as to what I should search to learn more?
Sorry for the novel. Hopefully this can be useful to others as well in the future.
Thanks.
I'm in the same boat only I want to flash to Boost Mobile. I need a point in the right direction as well
Anyone else out there unfortunate enough to be on US Cellular? Yes, I pre-ordered assuming that it would work on US Cellular, and I've seen a couple of articles mentioning that it will work, but haven't seen any hard evidence that it's supported. If it has the bands to support it... it'll work, right? They'll be able to activate it?
Has anyone else pre-ordered that's on US Cellular?
I feel so alone
If US cellular can give you a nano SIM it should work in theory.
Why not just call them and find out? That's the obvious answer.
it has the required bands no doubt. I went into a US Cellular store though and they said even though it is unlocked they may not be able to activate it or give you a sim if the IME isn't in their database. In other words, they are trying to say if they don't directly sell the phone themselves they probably won't care about making it work for you. For this reason I am holding off myself and waiting to see how it shakes out - I'll let someone else be the guinea pig on US Cellular. They do offer Nexus 6, so I am hopeful.
i went in again to a store again tonight (franchise, not corporate) and asked about getting this device to work. they said not unless they decide to sell it. Contacting corporate now...
Can you switch to a different carrier?

In this case the Nexus was to be my work phone, which is not switchable to another carrier since that what the company uses.
About a month ago my old work phone (Note 4) flew off my motorcycle while on the freeway. Come to find out employer had no insurance on it. Was not thrilled to find that out after the fact.
So been without work phone since, and my contract isn't up until next Oct.
My personal is my Note 5 on Sprint. I tried to get US cell to try and make my sprint Note 3 work, but they will not take ANYTHING from another carrier except Verizon Iphones.

Interesting you say this. I chatted with Google Support and they claim that it will, in fact, work on the US Cellular network.
Oh its not a technical issue at all. Its political. US cellular wont put the device in their database of IMEs and thus wont provison a sim card. They want you to get a device from them so its locked to them. Its totally able to be used technically, its just bad policy. If you see anything official stating otherwise from US cellular id be ever so interested in seeing it.
Get a new carrier.
No but really, that is really unfortunate. Sounds like something Verizon would do, lol.
Maybe just figure out which phones they have are similar in bands and features. Say you have that one. It should just work.
USCC will activate it. Many of us have already ordered them and USCC reps have said that once it is in our hands they will activate it without issue.
Tried and wouldn't work
Do you have a number of someone I can contact? I tried today and they said I couldn't activate it...
Call them and tell them it's a 5X. Give them your MEID and stuff and you're good to go. They'll activate it as a 5X.
There are a few of us that already activated on USC. As stated before when you call tell them its the 5X and they will activate.

Yep, I did this on VZW when I 1st got the Nexus 6 of last year, before Verizon sold it. I popped in the sim for the Nexus 6 and it worked right away. As long as you have a sim card that fits, you don't even need to tell them what you have. In this case, like mentioned, tell them that you have a Nexus 5x and they will send you a sim!!!!!
I purchased an unlocked Moto G5 Plus (XT1687). It was supposed to support sprint. I took it to a sprint store and they told me the phone was not supported. They wouldn't pop in a sim card to verify (just typed the IMEI into their system and reported the results).
Anyone have any advice?

I have same problem ,then I went to Best buy get new sim let them act all done
They should support it. They just need to get right SIM. Try the product numbers below.
The proper Sprint SIM as of this date for a Moto G5 Plus is SIMGLW446C. That part has a Sprint UPC of 019962040146.
I had no problems getting mine done, they just had to setup the computer to say it is a generic device, whatever that means. On Sprint.com it says I have a ZTE Optik, but all works great, so I don't really care.
Sprint Employees are mostly dumb to unlocked phones. They know what's on their shelves. It works, I've activated one online and one in store
Thank you all for the replies. I'm trying again today. I hope this goes okay if I have an existing number/account that I'm trying to activate this phone for; I'm pretty ignorant of how SIM's work.

Just tell them that you want a nano SIM. They might not be familiar with the phone which is why they say it won't work. You can also tell them that it's the same SIM used in the Nexus 6P, which they probably have activated.
You can also refer them to this link.
https://www.sprint.com/en/landings/bring-your-own-phone.html
If you click on the first question in the FAQ (How do I know my device is eligble?), it lists the BYOD phones, which included the phone. Good luck.
I went to a third Sprint store today, where the employees hemmed and hawed for about 30 minute before finally telling me they just didn't have any of that kind of sim card in stock. They tried to sell me another phone twice. I got the impression (again), that something else was going on.
I went to Best Buy, where they had the sim in stock, but were prevented from accessing my account by the system. I imagine this is because I have a SERO account, so things are starting to fall into place now.
I may try to buy the sim and have them connect it through Sprint support, but this entire adventure has encompassed more than 200 hours of my time, multiple phones, and over $300 to date. Some of that is my fault because I didn't properly research the phones that they would support, and I would be able to root. I didn't pick up the sim today due to fear of investing even more money in this.

This was immensely helpful in particular. Thank you!
I'm all hooked up. I ultimately purchased the SIM and had their online support connect the device. Easy-peasy. Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences. I wouldn't have had the nerve to follow through unless people had shared their success with the same device/carrier.
Just tried getting my second Moto G5 Plus on sprint (the first was a 2gb/32gb version easy peasy with right card online by myself). This one for my wife, 4gb/64 not so easy. It doesn't go in their system and out of 7 sprint employees they were all clueless . There is a bunch of posts on the actual sprint support website about how some phones (even if the models are on their accepted byod list) need to be added to the system and it takes 2-3 days. As i mentioned this they looked at me like i was crazy telling me that it should be added to their system instantaneously when they try. Told him to try google search so he can be better at his job and walked out. He did give me the store manager's card, who was not in but......... ill just try with the sprint help support page people before i contact amazon / motorola. Havent had too many issues with amazon and we order alot. Cant believe though that out of 7 people, in a SPRINT store (not one of those that sells sprint services and others) .. and a big one too...... nobody has any ideea that to add a phone (specific phone) to the sprint system (system that lets them activate/ deactivate phone) takes 2-3 days and requires more than just the IMEI number and a "ticket" needs to be created........
