happened on two different roms (RR and LOS)
battery < 10%
plug phone in to charge overnight (wall outlet)
find the phone bootlooping in the morning (probably after 4-6 hour charge) maybe not bootlooping, but stuck on boot animation
unplug, hold power to turn off and turn on
phone boots, but all app data has been wiped
really annoying problem that i hadnt had in over a month with RR as daily driver. switched to LOS and just happened again
I have a feeling this is hardware related now... and not necessarily related to the low battery state when plugged in... seems like battery charges up and then this occurs, but im unsure how to diagnose the issue... google has failed me on this one :crying:
Finally figured this out, hopefully helps someone else
After phone has rebooted on its own and is stuck on the boot animation, unplug the USB adapter. It will eventually boot and then reboot again on its own. Once it does boot the second time, it will be fine
The wiping was happening because I was holding down power to force the reboot. Should not do this
Very surprised that I am the only one reporting this on this device and that no one else has even heard of this. But ok

My phone just went dead yesterday, while playing tiny tower. Suddenly turned off, and would not turn back on. When I connect the charger, the led in in the speaker blinks. When the charger is not connected, the phone is completely dead. And it does not respond to anything either way. I don't know if this is rom related. Probably not? I'm thinking returning it to the shop, and hoping for the best is my only option, unless someone here has a better idea.
Update: I tried turning it on, connected to the charger, but without the battery in. It starts. So I guess the battery died? Suddenly and completely?
What happens if you turn it on without battery in and then insert battery?
Mine did a similar odd thing when I first wiped battery stats. Was playing angry birds to drain battery right down and it turned off, but would not start. LED just blinked when power was in. I just had to plug it in and unplug it a bunch of times and it finally started charging.
I did wipe battery stats last week, but have been through a few drain/recharge cycles since then. When I start with the charger connected and insert battery it gets past the boot animation and then shuts off. I tried with a different battery yesterday, and it worked fine. When you say plug it in and unplug, do you mean connecting and disconnecting charger, just repeatedly?
yeah, was just plugging and unplugging a lot and it finally worked. If another battery worked then that would seem to be the fix.
Will try that. Thanks!
Managed to get it to start by putting the battery in after starting with just the charger first. Had to try a bunch of times before it worked. Been charging now for 5 hours, but it never gets past 10% charge on the battery? Do I just let it keep charging or is there some other way to fix it?
That happened to me in the day I bought my phone. It only started with the charger plugged in (and with no battery).
I thought the problem was in the battery, but in the store they tried with a new battery and the phone did not connect. So they replaced and everything is fine (since September).
Hi,
I have a problem with my Find 5: I am stuck in a bootloop. The Oppo logo appears and after only a few seconds disappears, the phone vibrates and then the logo appears again. And this goes on and on.
I can get into recovery and fastboot but the real problem ist that my Find 5 will turn of again after maybe one minute into recovery. I tried it with CWM and TWRP. When I want to turn on the phone or get into recovery without being charged, nothing happens.
Before that I haven’t used the Find 5 because the USB-Port was broken and it would not charge. Even if the phone had a connection, its battery percentage would not increase at all. Then I ordered a new battery and a new USB-Port. I installed the new parts and suddenly the phone started to work again. I flashed a new nightly of CM 12 and installed some apps. The next day (it was charging over night) I unplugged the phone at 30%.
When I looked at the battery chart, I could see that the battery percentage did not decrease and also not increase while plugged into the charger. Then after some normal use, the battery percentage jumped from 14% directly to 0% and the phone turned off a few seconds later. When I charged it, it was stuck in a bootloop again. First it took about 30 seconds between the reboots and after the Oppo logo disappeared I could see that it i charging but after some minutes the reboots got faster (every 8 or 9 seconds).
So I am having the same problems with the new parts again but I don’t know why because it worked for some time…
It seems that the battery is broken again but how can it be? It was a brand new battery and it worked for one nearly full charge. Are there some common mistakes when replacing the battery that I could have made to cause my problem? I don’t know what to do and I want to try everything that is possible before getting a new phone.
Edit: Now I know where the problem is (or where it is not) but I have no idea what to do against it. The problem lies somewhere in the mainboard. Because when the charger is plugged in the phone will start to reboot again and again so the cable between USB-port and mainboard should be ok. But the battery is not charging. The phone worked with the new battery for a while because it was already charged when I built it in. And now since the battery is empty again I am experiencing the same problem as before again.
So does anyone have an idea? Where is the exact problem and can I fix it without spending much money on it?
Thanks for your help
Sam
Good day XDA,
My phone went on a real havoc starting yesterday when it kept on rebooting in the "Samsung Galaxy S5 powered by Android" logo. It doesn't go past it without having the phone plugged into into a power source, either USB, powerbank or wall charger. After charging it 'til it goes full, it only takes few minutes to few hours before it goes to the same cycle again - and I have to plug it in again in order to use it properly.
What could be the problem? Your immediate response is greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone!
hi , i find when i experience this issue is when play store updates theme that i have in use at time , soon as i reboot i get bootloops ...i fix mine by pressing and holding vol down menu and power for as long as it takes for bootloader then press them same keys again but release before bootloader so that your phone boots as normal hope this helps
I know this is the combination for force reboot but sadly, that doesn't help. Thanks for the idea, though.
Tried clearing caches from recovery?
Battery still good?
I think the battery might be the problem. When I tried charging it, I went back and it was on 92% then few seconds later, it jumped to 100%. I tried booting it but with no luck, so I pulled the battery and upon putting it back, it dropped to 50%. I pulled and put it back again and it went to 84%. I'm thinking it might be the battery. I cannot boot into system or TWRP, only on Odin mode but I need to save the files saved on my internal storage as it has photos I haven't backed up yet.
TLDR: are there any diagnostics I can do to verify that my battery needs to be replaced?
A few days ago, I turned on my phone to check the time and a half-second later it suddenly and instantly shutdown. I was not able to restart it at all. When I got home and plugged it in, it began a continuous boot loop, with only the motorola splash screen displaying, then nothing for a few seconds, then back to the splash screen over and over.
Fortunately, I was able to get to the"AP Fastboot Flash Mode" menu. I couldn't do anything from there on the phone itself though; every option just went into the boot loop again. I was able to get a fastboot connection with my PC and so reflashed the phone successfully.
After reflashing, it went into the boot loop again. I began looking for more solutions online and wasn't paying attention, but sometime in the next 5-10 minutes it made it to the login screen! I re-set up my phone and all seemed to be working fine!
Until the next day. I tapped an app and instead of opening, the phone immediately shutdown and went dead again. Took it home, plugged in, and it went into the boot loop again.
Anyway, I've read a few threads on here and elsewhere that the culprit may be the battery. I would like to have more than just a hunch before I shell out the money and time to replace the battery -- is there any way I can verify that the battery is indeed the problem? I didn't seem to be having any battery problems before - charging and usage seemed fine. I did drop the phone rather hard a few weeks ago, but didn't seem to effect anything (short term at least).
Also, could using a non-Droid Turbo 2 charger affect battery life? I actually got the phone used and didn't get the official charger with it, so I've been using just a random leftover one for ~6 months.
TIA!

Try the apps such as Ampere which shows battery info.
I don't think so Non-Turbo charger can lead to affect the battery life but using a cheap charger does.
Stock .21 firmware. Never tried any other ROMs. Battery went down to 1% last night, charged it on stock charger to 30% then moved it to a different charger. An hour after that I got a call, I hanged up and about 1 hour later I heard the phone buzzing every 30 sec or so, I looked at it and realized it's in bootloop. If I press Vol- and Power I can get it in fastboot and with Vol+ and Power in Recovery. Can't figure out what to do from there though.
Update: Pressed -+ and left it the whole day in that mode. Came home, and it booted up and looked fine for about 3 minutes then it shut down by itself. It seems to me that there's some sort of memory/storage corruption. Any suggestions on how to proceed from here?
Phone booted normally and I was able to use it for about 12 hours. I was doing a Whatsapp backup this morning when it shut down and got into the bootloop again.

If you are using stock, immediately get rid of your usb c cable and buy a new one. There could be an issue with the cable that is causing problems with your battery.
Try to keep the charge percentage between 20% and 80%
Finally, your battery stats may be off. To resolve a battery stats issue you will need to reset the phone. Which again, if you are using stock and have never used a custom rom. You should definitely do a factory reset.
Same issue on 2 different chargers with 2 different cables that used to work well until now. None of the cables are stock. One of the chargers is stock, the other one aftermarket. My wife's S3 doesn't have any issues using the same cables and chargers. Issue seems to be happening when battery is full or almost full. Phone gets into a soft reset bootloop. I let it drain yesterday and was able to get in and do a factory reset. I then added my account and left it installing and updating apps overnight, while connected to the charger. Woke up with the phone off and after pressing power for 12 sec it got into the bootloop again. As you can imagine, it's impossible to keep the battery under 80%. Would it help if I try a custom rom? Maybe a new battery? I'm open to any suggestions as I really like this phone and can't find anything similar at a reasonable price.
So phone still reboots when battery is high. I can however get into Fastboot Mode and Tool All-In-One detects it. Tried to unlock the bootloader in the tool but it failed. I'm willing to try anything to get the phone back up and running but not sure where to start. Would really appreciate some guidance.
It really sounds like the battery is bad. You can buy a new battery for $8 .
If you replace the battery : Do NOT use a hairdryer to remove the screen. You will need a heat gun, they cost 7 dollars at harbor freight.
With a heat gun the lcd screen will practically fall off into your gloved hand.
I was going to offer to connect remotely and help with unlocking the bootloader and installing TWRP, Root and a Rom. But I sincerely believe that you need to get a new battery first.
