Hi,
I just purchased a P6800 to replace my current phone.
Everything is awesome about the device, but everytime I try to insert my SIM from my previous phone, it keeps saying "Please Insert SIM"
After many reboots, same message shows on the unlock screen.
I've tried other SIM cards from my friends' phones (H20, Red Pocket, T-Mobile, Etc.)
The only SIM it seems to detect is my old O2 SIM card from my travel overseas.
Are there different times of Mini SIMs? Perhaps the metal contact sizes are different for data and regular phone SIMs?
I hope someone can help as I would love to utilize the full capabilities of this device.
Thanks.

It uses a regular sized SIM, not a micro-SIM. Are you sure you're inserting the SIM with the contact side down notch end first?

Im having the exact same problem. Bought a Telstra sim for my P6800 and it wont recognise it. The same sim works fine in my Galaxy Nexus, and the sim from my Galaxy Nexus works fine in the Tab. It's just this particular sim/data plan it wont recognise the sim, keeps saying 'insert sim'. I had the sim replaced, same issue. Any ideas?
Did you try to go to Settings -> Wireless and then configure the APN, etc.?

Wont let me into it. When I press Mobile Networks it tells me to insert a sim. The sim works fine in other devices but is not detected by the Tab. A Google search reveals that it is a common problem with certain sims and carriers, I may have to go to a Telstra store and try a few different sims.. Unless there is something else I can try?
I had a problem with my sim card but when I reboot my device It is Ok.
Yes. Try to reboot your device. When I inserted my SIM while the tablet was on, it would give me the same error until I restarted the tablet.
You definitely have to reboot the Tab after inserting the Sim.

With respect, rebooting was the first thing I tried! Makes no difference whether I insert the sim when the Tab is off or not, still not detected
If a different Sim card works in the tablet you can see if your phone provider can give you another Sim. If no Sim works, it's most probably HW related

A sim that worked earlier in the week no longer works, sadly now looks to be a hardware issue..
You can't use the micro sims they mess up the sim reader if you leave it in it will continue to work but once you take it out it breaks the sim slot it happened to me i used a att sim first and it worked fine then a rep at a cell shop put his micro sim with an adapter into to it to see if it worked with t-mobile and when he took it out the sim slot wouldn't work I had to get the device replaced

And that is exactly what has happened to me. I was using a micro sim with adapter and after I removed it, the device no longer recognises sim cards. It will cost me AU$130 to have it repaired.
A big warning to everyone else not to use micro sims with adapters, make sure you use a full old-style sim card! Quite annoying since most carriers these days have the sim card with the micro-sim push out, these will damage the sim slot in the P6800
Same problem here after using a microsim adapter now it doesn't recognize any sim. Do you know how to remove back cover so i try to repair internal sim card reader?

Same problem here, after using a Micro-Sim Adapter, my p6800 stopped recognizing the sim cards. I hope the repair do not cost too much.
Don't know if this might help.
I had the same experience when I insert my Sim card the first time.
Luckily I have about twenty old Sim card to play with.
I tried most of them and found put that some Sim card is thinner.
So, what I did was to paste a layer of clear tape on the back of my Sim card to make it slightly thicker.
It will fell a but tight at first.
But it helps.

I've also tried that, pasted a piece of tap to make the sim a bit thicker but It didn't worked, I think I have to send it for repair.
Thanks for your help.

Last try would be the most ancient method.
Try using a eraser to rub the contacts of the Sim card.

Hi everyone!
I am facing a very frustrating problem. I just got my Nexus 4 about 2 days ago. The problem is, that when I insert my MicroSIM card, the phone says NO SIM CARD.
Everything else on the phone works (I am able to find local GSM networks as well , so I don't think it's the GSM / UMTS modem). I have tried it with 4 different sim cards, but still nothing.
Can it be a software issue, or the sim card reader is corrupted? I don't know what to do.
Thanks for your replies in advance
I think you have a defective Sim Reader, get an RMA

If I remove the back cover of the phone, will it void warranty?

Probably. Did you by any chance reboot your phone after you inserted the SIMs?

I have the prob
I have a solution
I had the same problem. My solution is: don't use the microsim tray. Just put in the sim and get a good cover. It works like a charm.
I received my N4 a couple of days ago and had my vodafone (India) sim cut to a microsim. The microsim works perfectly on the iPhone and even on my DHD (along with the leftover adapter) but when I insert it into my N4 and boot the phone, the network signal lasts only for about 5-10 seconds (every single time). It recognizes the sim and even the operator name gets displayed properly in the phone status. After that it's as if there's no sim inserted. Isn't it weird?
I'm yet to try inserting another microsim but I wonder why the phone would reject the sim after a few seconds? Anyone has an opinion or theory on this?
I've tried resetting the phone but to no avail.

My guess would be it is not cut correctly.

This. What did you use to cut it? A template and a scissors? Or did you have a specific SIM cutter that you got from a shop which offered such services? I got my SIM Card cut at a shop which had a specific cutter to cut SIM cards down to size.

The N4 is really picky with cut down sims. many users report problems with cut down sims. Sometimes those problems don't appear till later on. Best bet is to get a real micro sim.

Like I said, I read reports from users where their N4 read the sim for days without an issue. Then it began to fail.

I keep getting a NO sim error when the sim is already in the phone I took it out and reinserted it but it still shows it can anyone help? Can't find a solution
Connectors might be loose or your sim card may be at fault. Call Sprint and let them know. They should send you a free one to eliminate the latter.
Mine had that the first day..they gave me a new sim card and all was good..

Hello, sorry if this has been posted before. I search but didn't find the same issue.
I just bought a OnePlus 2 from someone. Before buying the phone, since my T-Mobile sim card wasn't a nano sim card, I inserted a new, unactivated T-Mobile nano sim card and was able to see cell signal bars and successfully make a test call to 611 (customer service). However, after I bought the phone and got my sim card converted to a nano sim card, I couldn't get cell reception at all. It kept saying No Service no matter how many times I tried reinserting the sim, rebooting or resetting the phone.
So I thought it was a ROM issue, and proceeded to upgrading from stock Oxygen OS to SkyDragon Hydrogen OS. After installing SkyDragon, still No Service. Then I thought there must be something wrong with the modem firmware, and therefore flashed this modem I found in the SkyDragon thread.:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65329394&postcount=546
First reboot after flashing the new modem, signal bars appeared, and T-Mobile showed as the carrier BUT making calls and using cellular data failed. Rebooted the phone, and it went back to No Service.
Is this an issue with the modem? Should I flash another modem? Please help. Thanks in advance.

I`d suppose to try this SIM-card on another phone. May be this is just a result of bad conversion of SIM-card to nano (have happened to me) and have no clue to ROM or modem.

I've already done that to confirm it's not because of the sim card. I actually got T-Mobile to give me a new sim card in nano size...

Other T-Mobile sim cards don't seem to work. I don't have non-T-Mobile sim cards to test.
What band does your T-Mobile work on?
Using another sim?
Are your carriers only 3g/4g compatible, this phone is dualsim standby won't work dual sim on two simultaneus high-speed networks

This phone is compatible with T-Mobile USA, if that's what you're asking. And I only have 1 sim card inserted.
I don't know buddy. OxygenOS sucks. It doesn't allow me to make call. When I hit dial button, it immediately says call ended. Switched to custom ROM and solved issues. Still have some bugs related to network. But I can manage.

RMA is better, resolves if at all you have a hardware issue.

I bought this phone from someone, and OnePlus requires the original order details, so can't claim RMA.
However, I found something rather interesting: AT&T sim cards works flawlessly in this phone. After I insert an AT&T sim, and then insert my T-Mobile sim, it starts recognizing my TMo sim. This is so strange, but it confirms a radio firmware issue, not hardware. Will have to trying flashing different radios to see if there's one that works. Anyone can help provide the links to all the radios available for this phone?
