Need expert help Please!!! - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Okay guys, i have a huge dilemma and hope someone could help.
I have a Verizon LG G6. I unfortunately dropped it in my hot tub. I didn't get too excited, because of the water resistant feature. But it is not working correctly since. (Even after having it in rice for 10 consecutive days).
Everything works perfectly EXCEPT:
-when scrolling any social media app/site like FB, Instagram that has VIDEO, it won't play (Photos load fine).
-Music on SD card won't play
-Still Camera works, Video Camera won't
-Will not dial out. WIFI works fine but when WIFI is off, there is no service
I have done a factory reset and it has not helped.
Pretty much, anything that requires sound or video, it won't work.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much,
T.J.

1) Remove SD card. See if fixed. If not fixed,
2) Factory reset. (oops, you did that.) If not fixed,
3) Cry
4) Wait for V30 release.

Sounds like the mic broke in the fall, will need to have it replaced.

[Q] HTC Trophy - camera not working need help diagnosing

Hi have a HTC Trophy that doesn't have a working camera when the camera app is activated. I just get a blank black screen instead of an image and the usual white icons so I can access settings but can't take a picture.
try to reset ur phone
already...but that wont solve the issue..
Mine started doing exactly the same thing last night after working fine all week. Now, there were 4 applications updates yesterday which maybe caused an issue. However, I also dropped it on a fairly hard surface and it fell flat on the floor. Everything else is working absolutely fine, GPS, Audio, WIFI etc and only the camera seems to be at fault. Even the HTC flashlight app works fine. I have powered down and on a few times but no difference. I could do a full reset, that's the last thing to try but then I will have to start from scratch re-loading all the applications.
At the moment, I'm inclined to believe that dropping it has not done it any good (sounds obvious when I write it out like that). Isn't it amazing how a phone with camera capability has become so important...

Nexus 4 major issues with no sound at all and no youtube

Nexus 4.
Android 5.1.1
Kernel version 3.4.0-perf-gdffc258
I have had this phone for over 2 years. For last 6 months it has given some problems.
I had an issue 3 months ago where it would stall at the welcome screen for Android.
Factory reset worked on this occasion.
NOW I have major issues with
1. No sound heard. (neither speaker nor headphones)
2. Using the volume key slows the systems right down and no effect on sound (i.e. still cant hear anything)
3. Whatsap call cant be placed or received (if i try it hangs the system)
4. Normal phone calls have the same issue but I can still hear sometimes and the mic also does work but interrupted and laggy.
5. Youtube open but does not play video or audio at all.
6. Spotify can play but no music is heard
7. Screen dims out at times totally
8. After reboot it gives error "Launcher is not responding" . I use the basic version no fancy launchers.
I HAVE tried clearing the cache and resetting to factory but nothing works at all !
Is this a hardware issue or software ? Any tips how to fix it. Thanks
Possible loose connection inside the phone? Was the phone ever dropped or exposed to moisture?

It has been dropped but not from a great distance and also it has a good case. It can be that there was some problems with moisture given there was incessant rain recently and I might have used it for a sec or so.
Would such a problem cause even the software to be slow or hang ? (like whatsapp, calling, youtube)
What do u suggest in this case ?
Did the problems appear shortly after the drop or after slight exposure to moisture?
I suggest removing the back of the phone and check the moisture sensors and look for residue on the circuit boards.
Before doing troubleshooting on the hardware, I would try a full flash back to pure stock lollipop and KitKat, to see if that solves the problem. If that is a no-go, then it would be time to inspect the hardware.
Thanks ! Could u please point me to as to how to get it back to pure stock Is. Thanks

Nexus 6P No Audio. (playback error on EVERY app)

why im writing this
i was so mad and so confused when this happened to me yet the fix was so easy. even xda didnt have a fix i only wish to help anyone with this issue.
what caused the issue and Information on the issue
so i got caught in the rain walking home drenched from the rain my Nexus in my pocket but i was only in the rain for 20 mins when i got home i noticed youtube wasn't working "a error occurred during playback" on every single video so i was like. wtf is my data not working. i loaded a webpage it worked just fine. so i was like hm. must be youtube ill wait. so i opened up Google Play Music to listen to some Pantera. to my surprise same issue. "the song you requested could not be played." now this is when i realized something was wrong because this song was stored on the hard-drive in "downloaded" mode. so i opened up Angry birds. no sound... so i thought.. werid. i wonder if the rain screwed up my speakers... but it wasnt even heavy rain. so than attempted to call google support. no. the call wouldn't go through. so i tried to call my sister. the phone app crashed. thats when i realized it had to be a software issue if it was hardware the videos and music would play but without sound. being told "a error occurred" . still on system UI made me know it was a software issue. so i restored the phone. still no fix. thats when i started to notice. the screen wouldn't rotate either so i installed a rotataion app to manually go back and forth from portrait and landscape. for days i used a bluetooth speaker.
the fix
turns out. the issue was sooooo simple. the mic was clogged.... i took a metal tool and used it clear it out. a video on youtube told me how to do it. and it was my last ditch effort i also took a q tip and did the same with the headphone jack and now the rotation and sound works
lolololololol
you fixed all your hardware and software problems by cleaning the mic?
oh god
Same issue please help
I am having the EXACT same issue you had with your Nexus 6p, I got mine wet in the rain for 2 minutes the other day And now have playback errors on EVERYTHING unless I'm connected to a Bluetooth device. I read your fix and tried to clean out there microphone generally but no luck. Any chance you could point me to the video you watched and or give me any further details on your process to fix? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance

I also cleaned out the headphone jack. Try that. And o noticed you said " gently" I tried it gently and it didn't fix my issue that's why I resorted to a metal tool I think what happened was water dried on top of whatever is inside the mic hole. I was damn near ready to sell the phone for like $50. So I wasn't gentle about it at all I sort of like tried scratching around in there. I can link you the YouTube video but it won't really do any good . It's the only thing he did but if you want it hold on
Edit: the video won't show up in my YouTube history I can't link the exact video.
hello ,
I have the exact same problem like with my nexus 6p from about a month , is the mic you mean the one above the finger print sensor or there is another one ??
I'm having the exact same issue now as well with the exact same phone. My problem started because of a different reason though. My phone never got wet. I flashed the CM 14.1 Nethunter rom and was using it for about 4-5 days but then started having issues with Gapps so today I decided to restore the backup I made before I flashed Nethunter and this is when I started noticing problems. Upon first boot my fingerprint was recognized but my pattern lock wasn't, which is weird because I only ever use the same pattern. Booted into TWRP and removed the files containing the pattern so all is well there. It wasn't until I went to set an alarm that I noticed my sounds not working. Then had my girl call my phone; straight to voicemail. Tried a YouTube video; error occurred during playback on every video. This is definitely not as simple a fix as roughly jam something into the mic hole, but it's awesome that worked for OP. If anybody has any ideas for how to fix this or what what wrong I would hella appreciate some insight. Classes start tomorrow and I pretty much rely on my phone alarm lol.

Hey I think I figured this out. Some people found that power cycling your device multiple times fixes it which points to it being a software issue. I noticed that when I would try to play my music from Amazon Music it would automatically pause meaning that either an app was prioritizing the audio or some programming was blocking sound. I went into settings -> sound -> do not disturb -> automatic rules. From there I deleted all rules except for Events and the sound came back within a few minutes. There is a problem with do not disturb with my device so others may be having the same problem.
Hey thanks for the update! I'll give it a try!

Video on YouTube, Hangouts...

Hey everyone,
I own a Moto XPE and I've been having some issues with YouTube lately, as well as with Hangouts.
It happens when I turn my phone in landscape mode, suddenly the screen goes black, on and off while the video is still playing. I'm really lost here. Anyone with the same problem?
I have the same issue, it's very annoying. I haven't found any real solution yet, usualy killing youtube app helps for a while.
btw I have eu phone with 6.0.1
I guess it's an issue with all X Style/Pure. When I face this, I realize it's time to clear cache and junk files. I do that using SD Maid and then reboot. This workaround fixes the issue until the cache memory gets filled till the next time.

This is quite famous bug
To avoid pls factory reset your phone (make sure you back-up)
Still not working?? 2nd method
If you have any kind of dirt or dust on your scratch guard (on sensor's only) clean that
Remove your silicon protector and check if it works or no?
Mine worked by just factory resting but some users still had the issue's

Pic / video issue (Sprint)

Hi all. I've done a search on this issue in this forum and didn't come across any threads, so I'm hoping someone can help me out.
Two months ago my husband broke down and turned in his firestarter for the V20. Everything transferred fine and life was good until the last few days. His phone has an SD card in it, and both the device and card have pics and videos that have either been taken with the v20 or with previous phones. For some reason sporadic pics/videos won't work now. HE can literally take 5 pics, see them fine in the gallery, try to open 3 of them, and they will hang when opening. Videos will give a 'can't load video message'.
I've tried moving them to either the card or the device, turning off cloud backup, downloading a different video player, changing the default apps. I also have a v20 and put his card in my phone and they worked fine.
Please, any suggestions to help me fix this would be greatly appreciated. I'm not afraid to dig as I'm a net admin by trade, but I'm an Android novice (my stuff always just works!) & don't want to brick this thing trying to fix it.
You usually can't go wrong trying a factory reset, I'd give that a shot. But if that does nothing for you, I'd guess it's maybe a hardware problem, since the media all opens fine on your own V20...
