Axon 7 A2017 issues - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone I ordered this phone a few days ago it's the chinese version and I'm having a lot of trouble...
First of all the battery takes way too long to chargd ( 2 hours) and then the battery drains completely about 30% an hour without any use.
I cant screenshot no matter how I try, three finger pinch or holding the lower volume button and power button.
I tried factory reset but now my Google play store doesn't work.
Is there anything that can be done??
I don't understand much about this but I'm willing to try everything... thanks in advance

re you sure it's gonna work? and will it still receive network in my country? I live in Israel..
Sorry for all the questions and thank you!

my A2017 is a bit of a fast drainer too. might be too high a brightness, apps running not sure. it's not a gradual user of battery power put it that way. as for play store, services and Google framework. install from apk mirror and you'll be be good to go

If I leave my phone in a drawer, unconnected to WiFi and with all apps closed it still goes after 3-5 hours from 100% to 0% and I still can't screenshot.. I looked at how to unlock the bootloader but I don't find any tutorial that fits build number 13 so I have no idea if it'll work.

I suggest that you update manually to nougat by putting the update.zip file in the root of your sd card and flash it. Look in the threads I'm sure many people have done this before.

You bought your phone from an online chinese store, right? Chinese phones obviously don't have Google stuff on them. That's why vendors from aliexpress etc. flash a different firmware on them (Usually A2017G firmware). You can install the stock firmware if you download an update.zip, put it on the root of the internal storage, and install it from the Updates menu
otherwise unlock the bootloader, install TWRP and slap a custom rom on it. But be careful to flash the A2017 modem and universal bootstack before.

Okay okay, sorry
-Chinese phones don't have the so-called "GApps" or Google apps, because they use their own stuff, can't blame them lol
Also you can't just sell an Android phone without Play store and expect people to buy them, therefore these Chinese retailers take the system from the "A2017G" (the International version of the phone, different modem) and put it on the A2017. And that's a lottery: you can get a good performing phone or something that barely runs (too common imo)
What you can do without getting your hands dirty is install the original system officially. You have to find a zip file (official update zip) that has the system (it's like 2.3 GB fyi) and put it in the root of the internal storage, which is the folder that you can open after you plug your device on your PC (it should appear as a phone, then when you open it there will appear one or two folders called Internal storage and SD card (if you have an SD on the phone, that is) and you just open the Internal storage one and throw the update.zip inside. After that you just go to the settings of your phone, then Updates, and Check for updates, it should find the zip and you get the option to install it. After that voila, you get OTA updates and all.
What I'm unsure of is if you'll have Google apps after installing this update.
So to get Google apps, in case you don't have them, you can't just install the Play store, you need to get some special apps into the system itself (Play Services is the most important, you might have heard of it). To do that you need to install them from a custom recovery (TWRP is the most common, it basically is sort of an extremely simple operating system that runs on the RAM of the phone, so that you can do whatever you want with the system, like delete it and change it) and install the google apps with a zip that does it for you. There's a Windows exe going around, called the axon7toolkit (google it) and it does everything for you in theory (unlock the bootloader, install TWRP). After you have everything set up I guess you should ask again, that's a rather lengthy process too.
I think @front firing speakers has a way easier method, would be better for him to tell you how to get Google apps. But the part without strikethrough applies anyways. If I find a link for the official update zip i'll let you know
---------- Post added at 11:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:38 PM ----------
Okay, found an android 6 zip file. what I'm unsure of is if the actual ZIP you have to use is the one you download or if there is another zip inside that one. As a rule of thumb, open the zip on your PC and if there's a bunch of folders and files like META-INF and stuff like that, just rename it to update.zip and put it on your phone. If you open it and find another zip inside, just unzip the one inside and put it on your phone.
edit: forgot the link lol

okay I have the Chinese axon 7. I imported from Ali express. it works perfectly fine. Just get on latest build via zip file (b013) in my case. then other updates follow on.
Good thing about A2017 is that you get updates first. it's on b16 now and 7.1.1.
you need Google play store, Google play services, and Google framework.. Download these from apk mirror.
set up Google account and its all good.
elsewhere on this thread there is a way to enable the Google assistant.
forgot to say, I don't root my phones. because of apps that won't work with rooting. such as sky tv

I honestly dont know if to simply install the original system to the internal storage anf update it or to unlock the bootloader and install 2017U ROM

Guys I don't think I have update option in my phone.
It's just nowhere to be found

One other idea I have is using MiFlash to install a clean A2017 system, and that will most surely fix all the issues. But it's very complicated really
If everything else fails we can try that, then do what @front firing speakers says
Also, @front firing speakers Is the recovery in Chinese? I guess we can install the update zip with the SD card option, and I'm relying on that right now...

I just found a picture of the recovery. The option you should use is the one that says sd:

Not really...
Do this: Unplug your phone if it is connected. Turn the phone on, go to Developer options, and turn OEM unlocking on, and USB debugging on. After that turn it off and try again, volume down and power.
If it fails, then install this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
After you install it, with the phone on, connect it to your PC on the back ports if possible, open the Command prompt (if you have Windows, just search "cmd" on the search bar), type "adb devices" (without the "") and if something appears below "List of devices attached" you can just type "adb reboot recovery".

I have the D851, but battery saving functions should be fairly universal.
The signal cannot be fixed as it depends mainly on your location. I find that I never have full bars, but my quality in calls never changes. Keep in mind that battery is actually used up while searching for better signals.
Some things you can do to save battery:
- Turn off Data when not in use (In my opinion, this uses up the most amount of battery).
-- Downloading "GO Battery Saver" can help immensely because this app can turn off certain services like data when your screen turns off. I've been using this app for over two years, and it is quality and highly customizable.
- Turn off Wifi when not in use.
- If you're not using bluetooth or NFC turn it off.
- Turn off auto brightness, and keep it at a reasonable percent when you're using it.
- Go into your display settings and turn off smart functions, LED, and anything else that isn't necessary.
- Another thing you can do is go into your developer settings and change "Dalvik" to "ART". When I did this I found that my phone ran cooler and performed slightly better on battery life.
- The last thing you can do is buy a new battery. Improper charging habits can degrade your battery. When buying one you can also buy one that has more charge. Your stock battery is 3000 mAh, but you can buy one that has more or even double that. You can find cheap ones on eBay, but keep in mind that some of those cheap Chinese ones may have bad chips, which won't affect the life, but may make your readings slightly off. For instance, it might say you have 15% when you have 20%. Calibrating the battery after getting a new one is suggested.
I may have missed something that I usually do, but I hope this helps!

Download an app called root checker. It will tell you if your phone is rooted. If you are rooted and want to stay rooted do not update. It will remove root and to get it back you'll have to downgrade to the point you're already at. If you're setting a persistent notification you want to get rid of go to your app settings and find Google Services Framework and uncheck the option to allow that app to show notifications.

Great topic but from the questions I answered 3 questions are missing
what to do when you have no signal, lte and or WiFi (flash modem)
happens to users when going from lollipop to kitkat and vice versa
What to do when you can't write anything to internal Memory
(the "restore con" command)
happens when flashing lollipop
How to install twrp on lollipop
(downgrading to kitkat bootloader by just flashing it (there is a thread for that somewhere) or by downgrading using an kdz and then rooting installing twrp and updating to Lollipop using a rom)
Asked alot
You can root stock lollipop now can't you? I have, unless I'm misunderstand the question.

Galaxy S4 SPH-L720T -> twrp, root, customrom and kernel(few questions!)

Heyo, lets get started ruining this device even more! See if we can't brick it ey?
Anyways first off the battery is draining like a madman, 1% every 30 seconds or so. The thing is not getting the performance in games that it should be, using other devices with lower end hardware as a reference(1.1ghz quad core, adreno 305, 2gb ram one touch, and 1.2ghz quad core, adreno 306, 1.3gb ram kyocera), it keeps micro-stuttering while browsing chrome and doing basic actions with the UI, also when the battery is draining too(funny, sometimes while I have the charger plugged in and do basic activies such as chrome, youtube, read books, mess with menu settings the battery actually charges instead of deplete, but sometimes, seemingly always now, it depletes just as fast as though it was unplugged).
Anyways I have decided to try and customize the device with the plethora of information on here and all over the web for this device(after doing a lot more "research" of course and laying everything out for myself step by step to try to minimize failure.
First question is how much of a chance is there to brick the device installing TWRP alone? Really want to get that on there before doing anything, then install SuperSU from there with zip flash. And does it matter if I use a .tar or .img version of TWRP to flash with odin? The latest version of TWRP is in .img format and the tutorials I read say to use a .tar.
After that witch should I do try first, custom rom or custom kernel? What custom rom would be best at this point in time(5/13/2016) for this device, 100% compatible and fully tested. Also a kernel(unless overclocking can be unlocked within the custom rom, in witch case less chance of me ****ing up yet another android device).
One last thing, I really hope that even I am successful in doing all of this without ****ing up the phone that it does not turn out to be a fruitless effort, how much performance gains can I expect from all of this, custom rom, debloat after root, set sd as default storage after root(package does not belong to 2000 afterall), and then maybe a slight overclock on the cpu and gpu.
And thats all assuming that one day after getting all of this to work that one day I don't wake up and for no apparent reason boot up the phone and find its bootlooped or something without ever changing anything once all of this is done, I mean if I get the thing working as I would like it to work theres no more reason for me **** with it is there? Also I guess no reason to even have the thing if it aint gonna function how I need it to function right?
Thanks for the help though anyways, if anybody even decides to help me this time in a manner that they are not just "helping" just because the end result ****s me over.
Thanks again.
Oh one other problem I am having with the phone I was hoping a custom rom might fix, my Apps will not register as the correct size in Application manager. A 2gb game is showing up as 50mb total data, and when using "Move to SD Card" it only shows only like 200kb of data on the sd card, it does with with every single app on the phone. I know should not be like this because the last 2 phones I had were able to move every single byte of data from every one of the same exact apps to the SD card without an issue. Plus the application manager not registering the correct app size is just bugging me.

Well first it sounds like you need a new battery, I suggest having a couple and an external charger (it's great for gaming, just pop in a new fully charged battery). To install TWRP with Odin you need the tar file. The chance of Helicon with TWRP is almost zero, recovery is always overwritten when you flash a stock tar in Odin. So if something is messed up, just flash the stock tar and you are back to stock, grab it at www.sammobile.com . When you Odin TWRP make sure that you uncheck Auto Reboot in Odin. I would suggest my ROM as it is still being updated every few months, but I am biased. I use my S4 for gaming and this thing can handle PSP emulation when it is tweaked right.
Wicked X is my ROM and it's located here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3115583

Ok thanks, a little reluctant to install an OS with the name "Wicked" though.
Any ideas why the stock Application Manager is being wacky, done several factory resets. For instance I have installed Fifa 16 about 5 times now just to see if it would fix the data readout in App manager, the Game is at least 1.5gb total data, app manager shows it as about 50-70mb, when using "Move to SD Card" it shows about 700kb of data on sd card.
Whats the deal?
Also before flashing TWRP with odin I have to unlock bootloader or something?

No, bootloader is already unlocked. I can't tell you on the other without more information. What ROM are you on? Have you done any modifications? Have you Odined a full stock tar?
I bought this phone used on cl. Fully stock not a single mod on it as far as I am aware. The only thing I have done is factory reset.
It seems half the time as well when I Uninstall apps the data stays in misc section of storage manager. I have to go into recovery and clear cache and I get my space back. And misc section of storage manager will be back down to its normal size.
@ your comment about loader. You absolutely certain and no bs that if I attempt to flash something (even just twrp) it ain't gonna fail and go tit's up because I didn't unlock bootloader or something?
Just lost 2 phones already simply from uninstslling gltools after it failed to produce my desired results. Install went fine, but uninstslling rebooted the phones and got one caught in boot loop other just sits on manufacur er logo.
If asked why I was stupid enough to try it a second time I'll say I wasn't 100% sure it was absolutely gltools as the culprit.
Anyways this is the first device I have had with so much support with custom recoveries. Roms and kernels and even access to stock rom files. Would love to successfully apply some good stable/safe/and better running mods than the stock stuff though since I am convinced this hardware should be running better than it currently is!! But not trying anything for a while though till I've read as much as I can at least and have at least a few options for recovery should somehring go wrong.
Don't like being stuck with thumb up my ass stacking bricks, I am no mason.

100%, Sprint doesn't lock bootloaders (though Samsung has started to). You may have to turn off the an option in Settings/Security, I think it's called Write Protection, it won't let you Odin anything if it is on.
I have a sprint sph-720T
I installed TWRP using ODIN
then reboot in recovery, put OCTOS-M on to internal memory and wipe the cache davik
install the OCTOS-M from zip file then install GAPPS from zip.
BOOOM! you have a rooted android 6.0.1 ! longer battery life.
EDIT: if you need direct links to the files, just ask.

I just downloaded Wicked 10.9 but am not sure I have all the files needed. In the first page it mentions to load the 720t conversion file and a kernal file.
Later I saw that the kernal file was include. I don't know if I should flash one, two or three files.

Three, the v11.0 update last.

ZTE Axon 7, but A2017 or A2017G? Random build, how to update this one?

Hello all, im totally new to all this. Also, i apologize in advance if there is a post about this but i was not able to find it.
So, i bought the ZTE Axon 7 off some guy on eBay UK. I live in the UK and use the 3 (Three) network, popped it in, all is good, use of features, etc, flawless.
Now, i know android Nougat if not Oreo, already is available for the phone, but every time i try to update it, it tells me the software is up to date.
i65.tinypic.com/dd0pzd.jpg
Looking into it, on the back cover, seems i have the Chinese version of it (A2017)
i63.tinypic.com/214w0nk.jpg
But the phone information tells me different? (A2017G)
i63.tinypic.com/70ddo4.jpg
With a different build to all the ones i've seen around here... ZTE A2017GV2.0.0B08
i64.tinypic.com/67uutk.jpg
It feels as if the outside does not match the software inside it, if that makes sense.
So have no idea what is what and where to start. Could someone kindly direct me in what to do?
I've always just hit the update button and that would be it, so please be patient with me
Thank you
ps - upgraded from the HTC One M9 to this... In love with the screen and speakers. What an amazing beast!
pps - i don't meant to break the "law" here by bypassing on the links before 10 posts, bit desperate you know... Sorry.
Can't see what you linked but the model is written at the back of the phone a2017 (Chinese), a2017g (global) and a2017u (US).
Edit: Looked at the links you posted, by the looks of it you have the chinese version with the G firmware. Did you bought it used? Maybe the previous owner flashed that firmware themself.
Edit #2: If you want to go back to chinese firmware, try this link. If you want to stay with the G firmware the take a look at this link.

Thank you for shining some light on me. It is pre-owned, the person i bought it from says also bought it from eBay over a year ago and always used it as it is.
Obviously a year ago, nougat wasn't as popular as it is now.
Have no idea what i'm doing but i'll look at the links you provided and see if i'm brave enough to give it a go or ruin £150 haha (nervous laugh) lol
This is chinese version with installed rom for G model. I think there no able to official update anyhow.

aah crap... wish i looked into all this before i bought the phone. I really like it, but its annoying to know it can be improved and i have no idea what i'm doing.
I downloaded the update there is from their official website, for location of Hong Kong, China (since this is is the chinese model). Phone comes under Axon 7 (open market)
after selecting that, theres only 1 download available from last year and this is it » AXON 7(ZTE A2017G) SD card software package(328540B2634ZTE A2017GV1.0.0B11)
All i have to do is put it into the SD card and follow instructions. (so it normally would be)
Anyone know if this could work or like totally mess it up?
I can always sell it again and get an original G version if its all too risky. Hard to find this phone here in the UK, same cant be said about the Axon 7 mini but who wants that...

It will either fail or totally mess it up.
I'll shed some light on this:
Your phone is an A2017 that's been bought on Aliexpress. The sellers installed a modified G ROM to it so that it would have Google apps and all that stuff. If you install an original a2017 ROM you'll have to install the Google apps manually, but it should be the same.
To get it running on original firmware you should use MiFlash with an A2017 package, or EDL tool too. I guess i can help you with that

So it seems to be the case. Thanks for all the clarifying.
If i was to go ahead and get it running on original firmware (A2017) would it work here in the UK? My guess is that the original wouldnt work here, hence the modified G ROM as you call it, or is this like... the cheapest version of the phone, fake and this is all just an alternative to the real deal?
Either way, if you willing to help or theres a guide for my case, would be much appreciated.
Thanks

none of that is true. If anything, A2017s can be better than G's (6gb/128gb/force touch)...
You'd only have a Chinese system and would have to install GApps. Nothing else would change. Same cell signal, same performance.
Chineses, G's and U's have different modems. You need a specific modem file for your model. G ROMs come with G modems, but you can swap the file with a Chinese modem and flash it. but the safest way to do that is by unlocking the phone

installing Nougat or even official Oreo is very easy, you just need to know how to do it. Since they told you it is factory unlocked, what happens when you turn it off and hold Power + Vol UP? Does it enter the stock recovery (mifavor symbol) or TWRP?
I think you'll be using MiFlash for this. I've guided people with your same problem about 3 or 4 times, so lemme go back and see exactly what they did

it shouldn't, but it doesn't matter. What you have to do is download EDL Tool and one of the packages that are on its thread (one for the A2017 of course, NOT for the G or U!!). After that just set everything up as the thread says and put your phone in EDL mode (Turn it off, cable disconnected. Hold Vol+ and Vol-, and insert the cable, then wait about a sec and release) and install the full edl package. This will wipe everything to oblivion.
Google "edl tool" if you can't find it here in the guides section, it should pop up as an XDA thread made by djkuz
Why are you so sure that your bootloader is unlocked? Did the seller tell you that?
Oblivion? Talking a different language to me haha, i literally know nothing about all these programs and updating phones business.
But if i can I can mount a computer and install all the software it needs, i should be able to do this too.
About bootloader being unlocked... I knew i thought we wasnt on the same page a few posts ago... When I said "factory unlocked" i meant factory unlocked to any network.
Playing with phones has never been a hobby of mine, til I bought this ZTE Axon 7. (starting to regret i didnt go for the HTC 10)

Go there, download the thingy, extract it and put it in C:\, so that all of the folders are inside a folder. Avoid having a folder inside a folder and then the program (In other words, your path to Flash folder should look like this:
C:/EDLTool/Flash).
Then download the A2017 B17 Nougat package, and put it where the thread tells you to put it (idk if you have to unzip it - just read).
then follow the instructions and run it - it's basically put your phone in EDL -> Flash -> Full

I bought A7 Chinese version (with 128GB on board) and took me less than 1h to install custom ROM, mostly because I've used my company's W10 laptop.
I find this phone really hard to brick, and community here is great.
It is fantastic phone.

I been pretty busy only had the time to do it this morning (GMT timezone) and... It worked! Haven't seen much of a difference other than the booting up now shows ZTE with the chinese writing next to it and installed all these chinese apps - any of them worth keeping?
I've tried google play, etc all seems good. The network signal is even stronger now! I never get good signal where i live.
Thanks so much for your help "Choose an username". Very much appreciated

Phone Bricked or Infected - weird artifacts and bootloop (S4 i9505)

MY PROBLEM IS INSANELY RARE AND (propably) HARD TO FIX
Hello!
I've had i9505 for over 4 years now, I had many problems with root, custom rom etc but I always find ways to fix them - not this time!
Since yesterday, I can't boot to the system. It started when I was just in my ES file explorer and suddenly some weird artifacts popped up and I couldn't see anything (its not a physical screen problem!) then my phone turned off itself so now, I'm trying this:
Hikd power button --> *short vibration* --> Samsung S4 logo pops up --> black screen --> again vibration --> ... and again and again. It just loops here.
So I left it for a night hoping that when I wake up it will be finally working again but no, NOW it was stuck on 'SAMSUNG' logo (the one with a blue background). So I pulled out the battery and the phone started restarting again (boot loop).
But there is something new about this situation. Every 2 or 3 restarts there are ARTIFACTS on the screen. For now, I've experienced 3 different ones and I managed to catch one of them with camera (see image below)

There is another one with a blue code in really small size, couldn't catch it fast enough tho.
This is what I have been doing with my phone before all this crap happened:
1. I installed 'Udemy' app from Google Play
2. I installed Modded Google Play via Lucky Patcher
3. I updated Lucky patcher
4. I edited build.prop to make my phone visible as s7, but then i changed it back
I think these artifacts may be caused a virus or just broken system files - I don't know :/
And pretty much that's it. I really want to know what possibly could cause this issue.
Please, everyone, I've always found ways to fix problems without flashing phone, so I believe I can now.
I have access to download mode and TWRP recovery.
But one more thing about TWRP - when I try to copy a file or wipe cache, error message pops up "E: Unable to mount storage". Is it possible, that for the first time ever my phone actually got infected?
If I catch any new artifacts, I will show them here.
I would be grateful for any help at this point, thanks

@S4von
I can't see your screenshots in ur post.
You have high chance got infected, why you install Lucky Patcher and Modded Google play? These have high chance to contain malicious stuff. NEVER-EVER use Lucky Patcher again and apps like this.
Try these steps:
Reboot to TWRP Recovery (power button+vol.up+home button) go to Advanced-File Manager-external_sd and delete all folders on ur ext sd card (For example you should delete: Android, .android_secure, LOST.DIR, DCIM, etc) except your personal files/folders.
Now still on TWRP select Wipe-Format Data and type yes-then go back and press-Advanced Wipe-Select Dalvik / ART Cache, System, Data, Internal Storage, Cache and then Swipe to Wipe.
If you have mount errors, go back to TWRP home screen go to Mount-and select the partitions you can't mount. Then try again.
If you still have problems try to flash stock Rom via Odin, if flashed normally but got bootloop - flash TWRP via Odin and wipe everything - then reflash stock Rom via Odin.

I have been using Lucky patcher for 7 years, it's not a virus itself, it helped me a lot - turning off ads, patching or cloning apps etc - its amazing and maaany people use it.
And still, I want to get the best results as possible without deleting data. For example, I had several important notes in my S Note app and I can't lose them, they are too important.

You can use Adaway to turn off ads. Patching clone apps are not legit and you should avoid it. I will say it once again, never-ever use lucky patcher and apps like this again. You should know that apps like this may contain various of malicious stuff.
At this point you are now, you need to wipe your phone and lose your data.
Btw your TWRP is so old....Download and flash 3.2.3-0 HERE. Then try the steps I told you above.

Dude I was trying to help you. You are the one who can't boot your phone not me. Goole Play and Antivirus marked it as Malware. Stay with ur Lucky Patcher :fingers-crossed:
Also let me remid you some of the rules of XDA:
6. Do not post or request warez.
If a piece of software requires you to pay to use it, then pay for it. We do not accept warez nor do we permit members to request, post, promote or describe ways in which warez, cracks, serial codes or other means of avoiding payment, can be obtained or used. This is a site of developers, i.e. the sort of people who create such software. When you cheat a software developer, you cheat us as a community
I'm sorry but may I ask you where did I request warez?

I was triying to help you but you are rude. Sorry
Copy your personal data to your PC, and flash stock ROM.
If it solves the issue, then it's very likely that installing Lucky Patcher caused it.
To try and prove that, follow the exact steps that you performed that lead to the issue and see if it happens again.
But I don't post aka share this program. I don't encourage people to use it either.
All right, thanks for your help, maybe it will help someone else.

But I've had it installed for over 7 years - You may be right, of course, but it just seems impossible to be causing this issue.
Except of that, I've updated messenger and youtube app. Maybe several factors made the system crash and prevent me from booting.
You know, I'm kinda unlucky. 2 weeks ago I installed Peters Jackons King Kong (PC) on Windows 10 and you know what happened? It broke the system, seriously. This game just crashes new windows 10. First PC, now phone.
And just a question, can I install this ROM without any problems here?

Or should I wipe whole phone first?

Wipe the whole phone first. Flash stock ROM, then update your TWRP and flash a custom ROM of your choice.

I flashed ROM I9505XXUHOJ2 and i can't even get into recovery now :/ Only download mode, I tried installing twrp again via odin but still, cant get into recovery.
Any ideas now? I can boot into download mode, but I can SOMETIMES boot into recovery (which isn't twrp).
I wouldn't answer you after your irony attitude but you seem desperate. Take a look on my guides, you need the "clean install from the scratch guide. Read whole the guide and follow the steps there and I guess you will be able to boot your device.

But it is, factory defect and and a few hits on the ground. I don't remember exactly what is causing it, but it has something to do with motherboard.
I can buy another cheap I9505 and just replace its motherboard with mine, but its too much work. Gonna say good bye to my good old friend

Huawei P9 lite not starting

Hi, this is my first post here so Hello everyone!
I tried to root P9 lite using below steps:
1. Get unlock code from DC-unlocker.
2. "fastboot oem unlock XXXXXXX..."
3. Phone was reset to factory default sow raw Android 7 was installed.
4. "fastboot boot twrp-3.1.1-0-eva.img" was not working (unknown or forbidden command, don't remember exact message)
5. fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1-0-eva.img
6. After restart with recovery mode still Marshmallow recovery was running so I assumed flash failed.
7. I tried several time put other versions (twrp-3.0.2-0-eva and twrp-3.1.0-0-eva) but if I remember well last one was again installing twrp-3.1.1-0-eva again.
8. As that didn't helped I decided to give up and restore phone to previous state so locked bootloader using SRKToolHuawei-STABLE-V1.3-20160619
9. System restarted and restored to factory default and after running I saw message informing that password is needed to unlock mass storage (or mass memory). There was no onscreen keyboard so no possibility to type anything.
10. Restarted in recovery mode (volume up + power) and tried to recover system from Marshmallow recovery option (using WiFi) but it didn't helped.
11. During next restart I accidentally hold both volume up, down with power so phone tried probably to install system from SSD, but as there was no UPDATE.APP it just stopped at 5%. I left it as it is and after some time (around 5min) phone restarted.
12. Now after restart I see only info that "Your device is booting now...". All key combinations are causing phone restart and same message.
Please advise if there is anything what I can do now.
Will appreciate any help.
After discharging the battery phone started responding properly.
With connected USB cable, volume down and power buttons fastboot&rescue mode is working.
Phone unlocked
FRP unlocked
There is still EMUI recovery in place.
So looks like recovery partition was not replaced and bootloader was not locked again.
I can't tell what is in bootloader now.
System is cleared and can't reinstall it using Marshmallow recovery as it is probably end of maintenance.
My goal is to recover system now and I don't want to root it anymore.
How should I proceed?

Hello,
it seemed that android 7 was your latest working OS.
Can you confirm it ?
If yes what was you complete firmware ?
(example: VNS-L31C432B418/VNS-L21C185B392, etc...)
note: 'EVA' stuff is for P9 variant, not P9 lite..
that's why you f***ed your phone...
Thank you Dadditz for your reply.

It was 7 installed there for sure. And this is VNZ-L21.
Probably latest possible firmware version but can't be sure about this.
Can it be somehow checked now (guess not but not losing hope )?

I took TWRP from here: twrp.me/huawei/huaweip9.html
When I look at devices list there is not P9 lite here: twrp.me/Devices/Huawei/
Which one should I use then?
P.S. sorry for no links or pictures but as new here I can't add them for now.
EDIT: I found TWRP in SRKToolHuawei-STABLE-V1.3-20160619\recovery\p9\p9.zip\twrpp9mm.img.
Guess I should load this one.

I don't think firmware can be checked now...
Firmware may depend on where you live...
If you live in Europe it can be a branded one
(ex. vodafone: VNS-L21C02B345/6) or unbranded one(VNS-L21C432B505/6).
You cannot flash one of them if you have the other one.
You have to flash an OEMinfo file...
Anyhow you may try a factory reset first and let's hope it will restore the device.
Boot your phone with vol+and power till the e-recovery appear,
do the reset and report back how it went.
P.S.: P9 lite doesn't have an OFFICIAL TWRP.
Available unofficial versions can be founded searching into P9 lite XDA threads.
P.S.2 : A LITTLE SARCASM...
When you tinker with the phone you're not cooking
a plate of spaghetti with tomato sauce.
As you can see bricks are beyond the corner... and not always they can be solved...
Generally it is always better to ask before do, specially
if you don't know what you're doing ... but ... yes,
phone is yours and you can do anything you want...

I don't have such option in Huawei eRecovery, only 3 below:
Download latest version and recovery
Reboot
Shutdown
When I used first option and connected trough WiFi I got error "Getting package info failed".
I tried that several times previous days but today this phone again surprised me.
After over 24 hours with discharged battery it became even more responsive (or maybe I just treated it different today).
Today I tried Huawei eRecovery again, it tried to download latest version trough WiFi and "Getting package info failed".
After restart I saw recovery wizard.
Went trough it and I got 7.0 working.
There was no screen keyboard but after recovering backup from HiSuite keyboard is was installed.
I'm also missing some other default android applications like file explorer, mirror, voice recorder, calc.
I'm wondering if it wasn't corrupted during my activities (eg "fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1-0-eva.img").

I fully agree with you.
I was searching for many instruction how to do it properly and my mistake was that I stopped fallowing them at point where I tried to installed manually TWRP.
My general conclusion is that even if system was recovered I'm not sure if everything will be ok.
I was totally surprised how my phone reacted during last days so still everything may happen.
I see also some corruption in restored system as some apps are missing.
Any advise how this could be cleaned?
Maybe I should install this system again from some trusted package like from below topic?

No, this recovery isn't for nougat (android 7) version.
If you want, you can flash the one you find into HassanMirza01 TWRP thread.
Do not use 3.2.1, instead choose the 3.1.1-1 version, it's the most stable one.

Dude,
system can be fully recovered, especially now you're sure about
your latest firmware...
There was a thread with a list of stock apps, but it's been closed
because links are dead...
First thing, eliminate all safeties (fingerprints/pattern/pin)(you can add at the end of process)
You should try to reinstall your current firmware using Firmware Finder app,
download it from the big G store. Use dns/vpn method
and choose VNS-L21C22B383 FULLOTA-MF.
Also all info are inside the app. Using this method
the bootloader will be relocked.
If you wont succeed then i can tell you how to use twrp recovery
providing your stock full firmware.
Cheers

Tried downloading trough DNS but got below message.
"Due to changes in the data exchange protocol between the Huawei server and the device, this function stopped its correct operation, but still works on older software that allows you to upgrade to one of the latest software if it has not already been done."
I tried with all FullOTA-MF versions on the list and same situation for all.

Dude, sorry if i wrote this.
I'm pretty sure you done everything correct,
but before attempt using the TWRP it's better if you
try again using Firmware Finder this way...
1 - connect to the internet, open the app, accept the disclaimer;
2 - add your complete firmware (add model) - VNS-L21C22B383;
3 - tap on your firmware;
4 - select the one with fullota-mf;
5 - tap check firmware access;
6 - tap check availability, accept disclaimer;
7 - you should have an 'availability of firmware' popup, tap ok;
8 - go back and tap 'get update through dns';
9 - a popup 'alert' you already faced will apper, tap ok;
10 - a new popup 'select dns method' will appear, tap 'auto',
then tap run vpn service and 'accept' the new connection request popup;
11 - you should now have the running vpn service in the notification panel...;
12 - minimize Firmware Finder;
13 - open settings > tap system updater,
you should find the VNS-L21C22B383 update (check multiple times);
14 - tap on it do download and apply the update;
15 - when the download reach 5%, stop the vpn service and continue doing the process...
It's something like THIS VIDEO.
Let me know...
Hi, your directions as well as movie you provided is giving much more details than application itself.

Hi, your directions as well as movie you provided is giving much more details than application itself.

Thank you for all your feedbacks dude.
Yep, it's clear the firmware is completely f***ed...
Tomorrow i will tell you how to use TWRP
and completely restore the device.
@JimiLincoln
You can restore the exact same rom you had on your smartphone ...
(I'm not sure, it seems it's a sort of firmware branded by vodafone)
but if I can afford, if it were you
i would install the European non-brand version (C432),
without bloatware and should also have the most updated security patch.
Is the phone single or dual sim?
Also, let me know if you want to have all stocks or
have the bootloader unlocked for future manipulations ...

European non-brand version would be the best.

I have bootloader unlocked and if future modifications will not erase phone data then we could start with minimal version.
Thanks

You must use a twrp to rebrand your phone.
Download and flash the one i suggested you (3.1.1-1 by HassanMirza01)
When you done, come back for the files and the guide...
TWRP 3.1.1-1 For P9 Lite by HassanMirza01 installed.
I can enter it only by holding Power + Vol Up without USB connected.
When I hold Power + Vol Up with USB connected Huawei eRecovery is launched.
Is it normal?

Yes, normal, you have both
stock and custom recovery now...
Ok, i will post a list of file you have to download:
1 - HuRUpdater04.zip file (will do the job);
2 - L21C432OEMinfo.zip file (dual sim);
THE FIRMWARE:
3 - update.zip ;
4 - update_data_full_public.zip ;
5 - update_full_VNS-L21_hw_eu.zip ;
Let file 3 the same name, rename file 4 from
update_data_full_public TO update_data_public,
rename file 5 from update_full_VNS-L21_hw_eu TO update_all_hw.
Names must mandatory match the ones I wrote to you, otherwise it won't work.
This is the procedure:
Use your PC, make a folder and rename it L21C432B506.
Copy files 3-4-5 (renamed) and HuRUpdater04.zip file into that folder.
(if you want you can keep the TWRP copying the .img file into that folder too).
Copy the folder into the SD.
Copy the OEMinfo file wherever you want into the SD.
Put the SD into the device...
Reboot into recovery and format DATA
(wipe>advanced wipe>tick data and tap format in the bottom right> type 'yes').
Reboot again recovery and wipe everything except SD
(wipe>advanced wipe>tick everything except sd).
Go in main menu, tap install, find and select OEMinfo file, let it flash...
When finished go in main menu and select REBOOT then Bootloader.
Once booted, connect the phone to your PC and
unlock again the bootloader. (quickly disconnect it from PC)
Device should automatically reboot into the recovery otherwise you can do
holding vol + and power button.
Now tap install, find your L21C432B506 folder,
select (only) HuRUpdater04.zip file and let it flash...
Your device should reboot into the system correctly,
if not (if passes over 15 mins) reboot into the e-recovery and
do a factory reset + wipe cache.
Done !!
Hello Dadditz,
Everything installed and working fine
Only bothering thing is message that device was unlocked and can't be trusted.
I will keep this for now as it may be useful at some point.
Many thanks Dadditz for your great help!!!
I will probably come back to this topic when my wife will have new phone, so I will play more with this P9 lite, customize system and learn more.

Amazing polite guy,
i was very pleased to be able to help you, obviously, for what I know ...
It's not a big deal to have that 'annoying' message at boot.
Re-lock the bootloader is the only way to remove it.
You have more than one method:
Flash a previous version of your current firmware
and use Firmware Finder to update to the latest;
or wait untill a new version of your current firmware comes out
and use Firmware Finder to update to;
or use fastboot commands but it's seriously risky;
Keep it as is..
Cheers dude. :highfive:
help
i have a similar problem BUT i can't restart my p9 lite in recovery mode. I tried vol+ & power; vol - & power; vol +, vol - & pwer; only power. The result is always the same: "your device as been unlocked and can't be trusted....... Your device is booting now....". I try also to wait to descharge battery. After descharging, when i connect usb cable to recharge, the smartphone wake on with the same message..... Someone can help me?

Hello Dadditz,
thank you for your warm words.
I can only comment that still being polite is much easier than spending your private time on helping stranger
Also thanks for warning about locking bootloader by fastboot.
