I think U does have a unlocked bootloader.. i could be wrong though..
Unless yours is a verizon variant on U fw. Then yes you still have a locked bootloader.

Just check the dev section for exynos root/twrp.
Screenshots of my phone model AnD anything else people always ask for..... My boot loader is locked its a usc cellular snapdragon.... SO IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOURE TALKING ABOUT.. DONT POST PLEASE

doesn't matter it is a root method using the engineering kernel and scripts. has not carrier specifics. only way to root us varient snapdragons. unless your phone is a dual sim or such from hong kong(look in snapdragon development).

There are no firmwares that are not rootable as of now. You can't root a snapdragon and run Oreo, but even if you are it is still possible to downfrade to nougat and root

I am running through the method in the S8 Root (Snapdragon) | SamPWND thread using the firmware posted. I am going to post in that thread for more details and will see what is said.
