I had a working google wallet on my rooted phone prior to upgrading to MF9, however I just realized that wallet is broken again. I haven't been able to find a solution that works now with my rooted MF9. Anyone have a solution?

What happens when you try to use it? Did you try going online and deactivating the device then setting it back up on the phone?

I'm on MF9 and rooted, and I can use Google Wallet without issue. All it does is place a little nag bar about your device being unsupported because it's rooted. It still functions, but if you have a problem they technically won't "support" you. If you didn't do a clean install (update to MF9, factory reset), there may be a software issue. Try this if you haven't, in this order. App manager -> Clear cache, delete data, uninstall, go to Market, reinstall.

I did do that. It keeps telling me the device is unsupported, but no matter how many times I try waving the over the NFC contact on the reader it does not detect a device transaction. I thought that it may be a a problem with the reader (7-11), so I brought a buddy and had him test it. The reader instantly picked up his unrooted MF9.
Now if I go home, do a factory reset; downgrade; unroot; do a factory reset; OTA MF9; and try it, the device instantly works. The moment I hit with root it states unsupported and then I spend 3 minutes waving my phone like a magic wand over the reader while the guy behind the counter looks at me as if I've lost my mind. Granted he has seen me buy items with the wallet before, but still I would rather figure out what I may be doing wrong that is causing the issue than to just not using it.

You're not crazy. I knew I left this thread somewhere. Sometime after the 15th and before the 20th, Google changed rooted MF9 from a nag bar to a full block. I tried to launch Wallet later that evening after that post and was met with the full denial message. I contacted them on Twitter and during trouble shooting they eventually asked about being rooted and I admitted to it, while also noting it worked previously. I am waiting to see if this was an intentional server side change or they cut my support off right here, LoL
I'll have to try mine, I'm rooted stock mf9 and when I start wallet I don't get the unsupported message that I used to see. I'll have to try a purchase and see if I get denied.

If you get it to launch, you're already one step ahead. This is what you'll see if the app has been fully blocked. I haven't gotten further contact from GoogleWallet. I'm guessing they've cut my support off for rooting, lol.

That message is because of root. You modded your build prop or something and now your phone is showing up as a phone that isn't supported. Are you running a mod to allow an app from another phone to run?

It worked while rooted before. Just a small banner appeared above a "working" app. I did, however, edit my build.prop to change my 4G symbol to Verizon's 4GLTE because Sprint's is well, ugly. You mean to tell me that little thing pissed off Google Wallet? -_- Great.
...
.....
.......
And just like that Wallet is launching and functional again with the nag bar instead of a full blocking. Thanks for the tip, although I still want to kick Google in the shin for making that 3 letter edit disable the app.
Actually, I'm running that same mod for the Verizon symbols. I can't remember if one of the xposed modules gets rid of the unsupported nag or not since I'm not getting the nag.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4
Xposed? Seen the name thrown around but haven't looked into it. Guess now is as good a time as any. And yes, the "4G" irks me that much, lol. Hopefully an update will come along and change the symbol as more LTE locations come online.

Z4T from Malaysia, rolling out Marshmallow early morning 10 March. Upgrading now.
I'm noticing speed increase here and there, and the tablet wakes up from sleep faster when I tap a key on the BKB50 keyboard
True. Its fast. And snappier. Battery seems to be doing better.
How about the touch sensitivity issue? Is it still there?

So far so good. def alot faster now.. even my connection went up..
Tablet bought in Germany but not used there, just got the 1.4 Gb MM update. (see you free space on internal memory before upgrading).
I have notice incredible speed after update but to be fair already there were alot of lag with the tablet (probably something I had installed ...). Apps now, start almost instant like it should on such specifications.
Can't say about battery yet but it seems the settings for saving went away and you could not activate saving other than at 5, 10 or 15 % battery.
A new setting on audio has appear DSEE HX, something that try to upgrade normal mp3 to HD sound quality. Activating this will deactivate ClearAudio+, dynamic normaliser ...) I didnt test it because I use flac uncompressed
Phone has change layout (subject to each person taste) and if you recorded an answer response on your answering machine you will lose it after upgrade (but you don't lose previous recorded messages)
I can confirm that wake up from power but mostly from keyboard (any key) is instant. After some time of inactivity it wakes slower but at practical interval to use (compared with before).
I love to set individual permissions since I have uninstall some apps because of "too generous" permission list.
Camera app: amazing UI upgrade. Where it was so cumbersome to use now is amazing easy to switch. Swipe up anywhere on the screen, can't comment on picture quality as I did;t test it.
I have also noticed less finger prints on the screen and less glare since the update! Amazing job SONY!
... just joking
Hi all,
Just updated my Z4 tablet (Generic Central Europe CE1) and as soon as I launched it for the first time, I encountered few issues. First of all, my SanDisk 128GB card initialized as corrupted. Gave it a try dismounting and mounting again a couple of times no luck and eventually ended up backing up the data on my netbook and reformatting it using the tablet running the Marshmallow. So far so good. Second and the most important of all, I experienced Google Play Store FCs and it still persists. Have been playing with it all day long trying almost everything: clearing both Google Play Services and Google Play Store as well as Google Framework cache, data and uninstalling all their updates rebooting the machine after each step still no luck. Removed my Google account and relogged again, didn't work. Also tried installing the latest version for both the Store and the Services still nothing. I literally have no clue now and am left with no idea at all what is going on?! I recall similar issue with my Z1 the other day but simply updating the Google Services solved the whole drama in an instant. I would be grateful if anyone could help me out with this neverending story.
Thanks in advance,
Jack

Anyone facing bugs in 6.0 on the tablet? My exchange pushmail was working in 5.0.2 but after 6.0, it doesn't connect to the server anymore. deleting and recreating and even nine mail or mailwise couldn't connect to the server. I initially thought it was the server that didn't support 6.0 so i borrowed another brand phone with 6.0 to test and it worked so it's due to Sony's version of the 6.0..

Yes, I faced a bug with my L2TP/PSK VPN-connection. This wouldn't work on 5.0.2 and it didn't work on 6.0 either. It's apparently a known issue on Xperia's, even the Z5 has it on MM.
Luckily, I was able to fix it by selecting Advanced Settings > Backward compatible mode: Enabled.
I just tried to use my banking apps for the first time on my brand new OnePlus 5. It's completely stock still, not rooted or anything. I have 2 banks and both of their banking apps fail to load. Also Android pay fails to work, tells me I need a network connection when I already have one. I confirmed my banking apps are still working on my HTC one m9 but I no longer have the s8 or s6 I use to use Android pay with. I tried searching on here and didn't see anyone else having these issues. Any ideas?
Is your bootloader perhaps unlocked?
Unless oneplus sends them out that way from the factory, no. But I haven't actually checked.
Did you give the apps the correct permissions?
I had the same issue with one of my Banking apps, fully stock with locked bootloader, and when opening the app it sent me to a website page stating that my software was modified.
My solution was to unlock bootloader, install TWRP, root and use banking on my laptop
Sent from my OnePlus 5 using XDA Labs
I guess my solution is going to be to carry my old HTC around and tether off the OnePlus when I need to check my account balance. I sure hope they fix this soon.
Have you tried Magisk hide? Every app i've tried has been spot on with that, work email, snapchat, everything really, don't use banking apps on my phone so couldn't say for sure.
I got an update last night, plus I went into app permissions and gave them every permission possible. Still no go. It says the app has encountered an unexpected problem after it tries for maybe 15 seconds to load.
Snapchat works fine. I haven't tried magisk. I wasn't going to bother rooting this phone because I like it as is.
Android Pay and my bank apps work fine on my stock, locked bootloader OP5. I'm in the US.
Seems peculiar Android Pay fails. Have you tried hard resetting?
I cleared data and uninstalled all 3 apps and I got both banking apps to work on the second try. Android pay kept telling me I needed a data connection which I already had. I realized NFC wasn't turned on so I turned that on and then it seemed to get past that part but it tells me my card isn't supported so I need to look into that with my bank.
Not sure why it didn't work the first time. It seems like I've had to reboot this phone for weird glitches a lot more than I did on my old s6. Hopefully that doesn't continue.
Update: they stopped working again. They seem to work once and then the next time you to try to log in it fails every time. Glad I still have an old HTC one m8 I can bank with. Lol. I'm not doing Android pay on a phone without a finger print sensor though.

You're stock and they're not working? Weird.
Do you have to de-authorise the banking apps to use them on another phone? My back accounts app requires that
I don't believe so. I traded the s6 on the s8 and they worked fine right away on both of those ones when I first got them. Plus I've used them interchangeably on my main phone and my backup HTC m9 quite a bit. I reinstalled them on the m9 when the OnePlus failed to work and that's how I've been getting by.
I have been having an issue with Venmo. It won't let me verify the device, this has been happening since I got the device. Now I am unlocked/rooted with Magisk hiding, and it's still not letting me verify. So strange.

Figured out my issue. I had an adblock enabled and it wouldn't let it send the code because of that. Disabled and all is well.:good::good:
I am in the UK. My OP5 is completely stock. I have Lloyds, Nationwide and Barclaycard banking apps installed and working plus Android Pay. So, it should work OK.
I am running version .8 of the OS
Alan
I believe I was on 4.5.10 before the update and now it's 4.5.11. So maybe they broke it with the .10 update? I really don't see anything else I could have done to make it not work. I've never had a problem before even on rooted phones.
OP curious what does your android pay do that it doesn't work?
Does it open or when you pay it doesn't work
I haven't tried it at a terminal yet, but I believe it's ready to work. I switched banks and my new debit card isn't compatible with Android pay even though I was lead to believe it did.
I added my one credit card and my old debit card and they seem to be ready to go now.
So my issue now is only with the banking apps, not Android pay.
My snapchat (lest safetynet) won't work at all. Tried different roms.....
Just got the phone a few days ago, was super excited as I was tired of using my old 2013 Moto X w/a cracked screen after my iPhone 6 stopped recognizing any SIM card (no service). But I digress....
There was an Android Pie update which I downloaded since I've heard how people enjoyed the phone more with it, plus it was still fresh so I updated. Spent the past few days tweaking things here and there, downloading my usual apps. Excited to try Google Pay via NFC as I was used to Apple Pay (which seems to have more banks supporting it, my Cash App card and my credit union card both don't work on Google Pay but they do on Apple Pay).
Tried it at a Staples earlier with a back to school rush and lines down the entire wall of the store, and it wouldn't work! With the app open or not. Had to pull out my iPhone to finish the transaction (embarassing...).
Got home, tried it again on my Square NFC/chip reader, NOTHING. Read up on how the sensor is on the bottom of the device, no go. Go to Google Pay options, says "to use Google Pay, you need to turn on NFC. Click settings, NFC isn't listed in Connected devices, nor does anything but an NFC Services show up when I search "nf" in the settings app.
I'll be highly disappointed if I can't use Google Pay on this phone. I didn't get a chance to try on Android 8.1 as I updated to Pie pretty much immediately. Help please!?

That's the same as mine (which works). For info, I'm on 9.0 (stock original, August), rooted, with adaway and an always on vpn.
Until someone else suggests another fix, I recommend an essential website fastboot reinstall of a full image. That's what I've done every time an I don't have the issues that others report.

To have to do all of this on a brand new phone (literally got this last saturday) that I already had frustrations with due to Amazon's shipping partner is even more frustrating. Not sure how to do a reinstall. Wonder if amazon or essential would send a replacement phone.
Then return it to Amazon for a replacement! You're within the return period and the longer warranty.

True, wasn't sure if it was an issue specific to this copy of the phone or a setting I inadvertently changed. Should be getting a replacement tomorrow so hopefully there aren't any issues - I'll still upgrade to Android 9 Pie if it doesn't have it already. I'll update the thread if so.
Same issue
Fwiw, I'm on a pixel 2 and have the exact same issue after the Pie update. Trying to use a Daydream headset and get the same NFC issues (says it is not enabled, not listed in Connected Devices but running). Hope there's a fix in the pipeline.

hello, how about battery drain after the latest update? I just saw a video recommending to do not update to Pie, because many features of Oreo and Nougat are gone and functions are limited, and a battery life is reduced. the review was made few months ago, though. are there any major changes with following updates? do you recommend to update? thank you.
Hi, what do you all think of the new Pie update?
What happens if, for once, there is a system update notification, it is being ignored and nothing done?
My first smartphone being HTC, then switching to Samsung twice, i don't recall getting system update notifications every now & then from the mentioned brands.
yesterday I have updated to this version via OTA.
today I notice GPS does not work (tested with Maps and GPS test).
does anyone have experienced this issue?
Not going to update my XZ1 to Pie. It seems Google has disabled third party call recording apps such as ACR within Pie. This functionality is very important to me in my work. So unless I'm going to root my phone in order to get around this I can't use call recording app. This is a major to me and many many others.
