I have a uk tablet on O2. I did not get any notifications but when i plugged my tablet into my PC, i was prompted to update. Very unusual as O2 UK was always lagging on updates.

Z4T from Malaysia, rolling out Marshmallow early morning 10 March. Upgrading now.
I'm noticing speed increase here and there, and the tablet wakes up from sleep faster when I tap a key on the BKB50 keyboard
True. Its fast. And snappier. Battery seems to be doing better.
How about the touch sensitivity issue? Is it still there?

So far so good. def alot faster now.. even my connection went up..
Tablet bought in Germany but not used there, just got the 1.4 Gb MM update. (see you free space on internal memory before upgrading).
I have notice incredible speed after update but to be fair already there were alot of lag with the tablet (probably something I had installed ...). Apps now, start almost instant like it should on such specifications.
Can't say about battery yet but it seems the settings for saving went away and you could not activate saving other than at 5, 10 or 15 % battery.
A new setting on audio has appear DSEE HX, something that try to upgrade normal mp3 to HD sound quality. Activating this will deactivate ClearAudio+, dynamic normaliser ...) I didnt test it because I use flac uncompressed
Phone has change layout (subject to each person taste) and if you recorded an answer response on your answering machine you will lose it after upgrade (but you don't lose previous recorded messages)
I can confirm that wake up from power but mostly from keyboard (any key) is instant. After some time of inactivity it wakes slower but at practical interval to use (compared with before).
I love to set individual permissions since I have uninstall some apps because of "too generous" permission list.
Camera app: amazing UI upgrade. Where it was so cumbersome to use now is amazing easy to switch. Swipe up anywhere on the screen, can't comment on picture quality as I did;t test it.
I have also noticed less finger prints on the screen and less glare since the update! Amazing job SONY!
... just joking
Hi all,
Just updated my Z4 tablet (Generic Central Europe CE1) and as soon as I launched it for the first time, I encountered few issues. First of all, my SanDisk 128GB card initialized as corrupted. Gave it a try dismounting and mounting again a couple of times no luck and eventually ended up backing up the data on my netbook and reformatting it using the tablet running the Marshmallow. So far so good. Second and the most important of all, I experienced Google Play Store FCs and it still persists. Have been playing with it all day long trying almost everything: clearing both Google Play Services and Google Play Store as well as Google Framework cache, data and uninstalling all their updates rebooting the machine after each step still no luck. Removed my Google account and relogged again, didn't work. Also tried installing the latest version for both the Store and the Services still nothing. I literally have no clue now and am left with no idea at all what is going on?! I recall similar issue with my Z1 the other day but simply updating the Google Services solved the whole drama in an instant. I would be grateful if anyone could help me out with this neverending story.
Thanks in advance,
Jack

Anyone facing bugs in 6.0 on the tablet? My exchange pushmail was working in 5.0.2 but after 6.0, it doesn't connect to the server anymore. deleting and recreating and even nine mail or mailwise couldn't connect to the server. I initially thought it was the server that didn't support 6.0 so i borrowed another brand phone with 6.0 to test and it worked so it's due to Sony's version of the 6.0..

Yes, I faced a bug with my L2TP/PSK VPN-connection. This wouldn't work on 5.0.2 and it didn't work on 6.0 either. It's apparently a known issue on Xperia's, even the Z5 has it on MM.
Luckily, I was able to fix it by selecting Advanced Settings > Backward compatible mode: Enabled.

First things first, HTC Desire Z, I am in New Zealand on the Vodafone network in case that makes a difference and running bog standard Sense UI with no mods or ROMs or anything like that.
I have done a search and can't find anything similar anywhere except some asian sites, and I suspect (but hope it isn't) because the phone came from Hong Kong.
Ok, last night an update came through to my phone with the above code, I have lodged a query with HTC but no response as yet and figured you guys may have a better/quicker fix.
Essentially since the update came through the phone has been very slow and glitchy... stalls on background screen before loading app buttons, widgets, menus everything.
So I guess I want to know A: is this a legit update or is it some sort of hack?
and B: can I revert somehow to the last/correct version or am I going to need to install a ROM and start from scratch?
I appreciate your help and if you need any more info just ask.
cheers
Tis legit. HTC seem to be rolling the update worldwide, but very slowly. My dad got it in the UK last Tuesday, I'm still waiting.
His phone seems to be ok. If you're still having problems, try hard reset?
Cheers dude, ok at least that is one less thing to worry about
might give a hard reset a go
I've heard that once you do a update its always good to do a factory reset its like a pc you'll need to give it a good cleaning some time LOL try that

You'll find that if its provided through a carrier, they'll handle the software updates after HTC issues them to ensure their "value added software" or "crap" is loaded on it.
Saying that, mine is a UK SIM free from HTC and I still haven't got the 1.8x.xxx.x update, I'm at 1.72
Heya, I also have the Desire Z, bought from Hong Kong, use on Vodafone, live in Wellington NZ, and also did the update this morning.
Haven't noticed my phone running any slower yet but keen to see the improvements touted though. So far just seen little UI cosmetic changes.
Be sure to go into accounts and redo your sync settings, it put stocks and weather back to real time sync on mine...turned them off straight away.
AHHHHH that could have something to do with the hanging issue. I did a hard reset and initially it seemed better but then once I had re-instated my backed up data, contacts etc, (especially after I shut off the HTC messaging app, and re-synched my google accounts for some reason) it started hanging again.
Maybe the stocks (which I have banished) is trying to sync in the background somewhere? *wanders off to see*
It is a good sign that it is working on other DZ's, main issue seems to be on keyboard open/close events... so might just be incompatiblility with an app I'm running... god I hope it isn't Handcent
Ok, update time, redone the sync settings, removed anything that has been added in the last week or so in case I just didn't notice (unlikely but ???) the hanging problem.
oefox are you using Handcent for your messaging or the standard messaging app? i have removed it and that seems to have made a slight improvement although only very slight... this is driving me mad... may have to try another hard reset tonight and rebuild the data only and start again with apps.
Fake edit: HTC got back to me "try soft reset, hard reset... sorry can't help as phone is HK build, we have passed your query to them... they will be in touch" We shall see?
Actual Edit: Also seems to be destroying battery life all of a sudden, and it seems to think it has been off the charger for 22 minutes... which is odd as it came off the car charger 5 hours ago... hmmm.. definite issues here... looks like an actual rebuild may have to happen :/
You could try an app like Watchdog Lite from the Android Market to see if there is a process gobbling up your CPU cycles? It may be the cause of what's slowing the phone and draining your battery...
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
Thanks for that, I have installed Watchdog Lite, removed a couple of apps that I thought might be a little bit problematic and I will stop playing with it for the day and how the battery reacts to "normal" use i.e. not constantly setting/resetting loading/unloading/deleting/syncing/unsyncing stuff lol... still seems to hang and whatnot though but we shall see.
If that doesn't help I will try a fresh hard reset and build from scratch (not from backup) and see if that helps :/
Call me uninspiring but I really like the default email and messaging. I have found after playing with it for a couple of days now that it will sometimes hang for a couple of seconds when returning to the home screen, shows the background but no icons for a few seconds.
On the plus side my wifi seems to have improved stability somewhat.

I did upgrade the firmware, but I didnt notice any improvement.
I mean everything is just fine
I thought that it would upgrade it to Gingerbread and Sense 3.0
I would be nice to have that version
Cheers
I have an HK Desire Z as well, and have experienced the exact same problem since the system update. I have not tried a hard reset because I'd rather not spend the time, but the home screen "blank and reload" issue is quite aggravating. I may have no other choice but to reset.
I will try waiting a couple days to see if somebody posts an easier fix.
Aha if you have a G2 wait till T-mobile gives it to us... we will be getting gingerbread
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
Ok, good to see it isn't just me, it is definitely an issue and the reset doesn't seem to help much so if you havn't already done it don't bother localhost21. however I think I have found the main culprit and it seems to be the Google Maps updates that are causing the majority of the hanging etc.
if you remove the updates, i.e. go back to the standard version that came on the phone and it seems to make quite a difference so try that.
Unfortunately as i use the navigation function on maps quite a bit I kinda need to keep it so a bit of a catch 22. If you don't really need it though that should solve most of the problem... if any other fixes arrive let me know
Hopefully vodafone NZ give us the Gingerbread upgrade, or google brings navigation out of beta because it really is very good.
Edit: Still hangs, I have become a habitual killer of tasks which is nearly as annoying as the hanging, esp. if you have to open the task manager after it has hung, and it seems the processes causing the hang won't stay dead (auto-killed etc) *goes hunting for basic, stable, rom*
I encountered a new problem in that my notification sounds seem to randomly choose what to play when I recieve sms/calls so I did a hard reset but I still have that issue.
It also still hangs on the home screen if the k/b is open so hard reset doesn't fix this problem so I want to try a new rom
Has anyone done a root/flash yet with a HK Z?
I have a HTC Desire Z on the 2Degrees Network. I'm running Android version 2.2.1 Build numner is 1.84.708.1 CL322105 can I get an upgrade? Vheers.

Rebooted my tegra note, noticed there was an update. Saw the numbers (4.4.2). Started freaking out.
Hope it will work - stuck at 1/4 for 20min now.
e: works. awesome!
Same here, also in the UK.
Some observations.
The new game controller mapper is excellent so far. I just created a profile for Epic Citadel and it works well. I'm using a Moga Pro Controller in B mode. We should now be able to use controllers for games that don't natively support them.
The bug where unmounting an external hard drive through settings/storage would also partially unmount the microSD card seems to have gone, though I've only tried it once.
The bug when using an external keyboard via Bluetooth or USB OTG where the 'auto correct', 'double tap space bar' and 'auto capitalise' options in the external hardware keyboard section do not work, remains. Shame.
The problems with HDMI out also remain, where video output that was smooth under the original firmware (4.2?) has micro stutters. No idea why, my movies aren't even HD. Also, the ability to zoom in in MX Player to force HDMI output to fill the edges of the TV screen that was possible with the original firmware (which was very useful indeed) has not made a return in this update.

I can't find it either.
I'm not sure I like the KK keyboard either....I want my apostrophe back on the first page
NOVA 3 still thinks we have Nvidia Shields so touch controls don't work. I haven't tried clearing data on the game or reinstalling it though.
Modern Combat 3 no longer works....
So, i flashed my tegra note back to stock and now im stuck on the welcome screen because for some unknown reason my wifi refuses to connect to any network and just sits on obtaining ip address. I have tried flashing a boot image, i have tried wiping again, i have tried rebooting.
Edit: Fixed it by using advanced options to put a static IP.
Got My Update to KitKat
I got my update late yesterday afternoon. Whole thing went without a hitch, though it took a long time. Then when finally done couldn't get it to work (things wouldn't open couldn't swipe to another screen, and stuff like that), so rebooted, and then it was fine. I'm really pleased that Nvidia got KitKat 4.4.2 out this fast. Good job, Nvidia!
Just wanted to mention too that it does seem faster, reality? Maybe not. Swiping screens, and multitasking is definitely smoother.

I don't like not having the battery percentage either, and I don't like the white icons, but it is what it is, I guess, that the way Google designed KitKat.
So like the title says, I'm a new Nexus 6P user, and I had problems out of the gate.
I bought the device 2nd hand from a guy off craigslist, after my S6 edge started over heating after I had the screen replaced (don't buy Samsung "edge" phones, I know your careful, but on the off chance you drop it, your in a world of trouble).
I tested the phone, before I bought it, it appeared pretty much brand new, everything worked. When I got home, and hard reset it again for good measure all hell broke lose.
After a hard reset the phone wanted to update to build 19 something. After the update and a reboot, the phone app kept crashing before I could finish the setup process. The only thing I could do is factory reset it again. This appeared to clear up that problem. I did the near by device thing, and restored it from what Google could find out about my S6 edge. I wish it was more of a restore like what you can do in the iOS world, but it's better then what we had before so it's cool. I noticed that Chrome would crash everytime you tried to use it only in less I uninstalled the update. After I got the phone to the point where I wanted it, I thought I was free in the clear. When I started trying to use music apps, they all crash. Apple Music, Spotify, Soundcloud. Then I noticed YouTube also crashed the same way. When I tried to make a phone call, the phone app would crash too... So the phone was useless. I downloaded the SDK and the most current build which I think was 20 something. I followed a guide on here and formatted the phone reinstalling everything around build 20. The only thing this fixed was the phone issue.
I could now make phone calls without it crashing, but I was in the same boat with some applications working, and the same ones that didn't work not working. I flashed this phone 5, or 6 times, with the last time me formatting the userdata. I read that it wasn't a good idea because it could lock me to only 32GB ( I had a 64GB version), but after I did the flashing along with the usedata format, I still had 64GB of useable space, however I still had the same issue with the same types of applications crashing. I tried older builds, same issue (also the older builds all had the problem with the phone app crashing to the point that the phone wasn't usable).
I ended up sending the phone to the manufacturer, which appears to be in the same metroplex I live in. Hopefully they can find a hardware problem under warenty and fix it. I'm making this post to see if anyone else ran into similar issues, and if anyone knows if this is a hardware build issue, that was hopefully resolved.
I'm sorry to be so long winded...

I was just about to ask about this. I think it might just be the security update.
I can't install this update being on a rooted kernel 32.3.A.0.372. Do i have to revert back to an unrooted kernel in order to be able to install this update?
Oh ****.
I really hope this is just a security update.

Have tested calling my phone and noticed that ringtone volume no longer drops down, top and bottom loud speaker volume is somehow levelled in loudness.
Even selecting from the ringtone settings you can hear the changes.
I'm now observing the Phone Idle battery usage for the next couple of days if this was also been fixed.
Can others please verify if my findings are correct?
Thanks!
My phone has started lagging so much after this update. Slidings are so slow and laggy, it literally makes my eyes hurt. Navigating at application list or homescreen is like I'm using a 5 years old android. Even the apps like Whatsapp and Quickpic are slow and laggy now. All animations are 5 times more slower and laggy, I don't know why. My phone is one year old and it was always fast as the first day until today. I don't want to do a factory reset (and I don't even sure that factory reset will solve this problem). Do anyone else has the same problem, or have you got any easier solutions than factory reset?

But I find this bug very odd though. A simple reboot did not solve it and I rarely enable stamina mode, maybe once in a month. Anyway, thanks again!

It depends on your firmware region. Some might got it slower than other. For example Central Europe still on .378 while MEA got .33 the new ones.

Please see screenshot of the regions already on .33 update =)

When does this update for the Z5 Dual fall to the OTA, The exact date!?
Update was about 235MB. No idea what's in it yet (will have to look around and see if there are any obvious differences). The update doc was given as: -

I do hope they've fixed the random reboots and cellular strength. My K version doesn't quite like the UK mobile network(EE/TMobile).

Reboots? my L device is working flawlessly luckily.
Signal strength here in Canada is just as good as any Canadian device I have as wel.
sent from my Note FE, S8 plus, S7 edge or S6

+1 For the SM-N935K Model, not one single reboot, before or after the update.
@ixman
Sounds like you might be using a battery saving app (Greenify,etc...)
If so,I'd run w/o 'em,see if it makes a difference.
Any other "performance" apps in use, that weren't pre installed on the phone?
If no to all of the above,I'd suggest a cache wipe in recovery, followed by a factory reset if that doesn't clear it up.
If those don't do the trick, you may have got a phone with a physical defect, perhaps a loose-connected battery.
The random reboots are a classic symptom of that.
Please keep us posted on your results. :good:

Agreed, not had a single reboot on my K that wasn't initiated by me!
I've just did a cache wipe and factory reset after the last update. Will keep you in the loop if the random reboot returns.
The only "suspect" app would be GSam battery monitor pro, but I didn't had any issues with it on my Note 7.
I love the phone but it does have some annoying issues. Here in UK when I'm out of 4G area even if the phone shows 3G the data connection is very poor or non existent. I do have the correct APN settings from my provider. Also the maximum data transfer is nowhere near my iPhone 7 plus(Qualcomm chip). I expect more from a CAT12 modem.
One the flip side the GPS is very strong and the call quality/signal is perfect. Strange.
I would be interested to know from other UK users how their K model behaves.

My FE took forever to reboot after the update. No issues now with reboots now. Be careful with Adhell, i did something wrong and did not reboot.

I didn't realize you were having reboot issues, you're the 2nd person to report that here @ XDA.
Glad the update seems to have taken care of that for you.
As for AdHell,I'm glad another developer has shown interest in such an app.
It's been updated a couple times already, should continue to improve/offer more features.
One advantage Package Disabler Pro has is the Google search shortcut ,so those like myself can get a better understanding of what all of those background system apps do & make a better informed decision on what's bloat & what should be left alone.
Neither will work on a rooted device, that's when I use SD Maid Pro,it has the disabling option that works only on rooted devices (among many other assorted tasks that work on both rooted & unrooted devices to varying degrees).
interesting about the reboot issues... none here before or after flashing the full AQG2 ROM. changing my CSC to ATT's version used on the S8+ (after installing AQG2, TWRP and Root) and factory resetting afterwards removed a lot of the Korean apps, enabled a different set of roaming options and, provided access to a lot of features that's available on the S8.now, The only disabled app is SecurityLogAgent.apk. Knox is still present, but not activated. i've never taken time to debloat for fear of screwing up something. what am i missing?

You can take out all of Knox - most custom ROMs do that as a matter of course. The only apps that affect the device if you uninstall them are Chrome and Samsung voice input(!) - but disabling them is OK.
Found the update contains an updated Play Store app v11, which installs Play Protect. I don't use Play Store - and definitely have no use for spyware protection from Googz that I cannot control - so I've reverted to the original stock until more is known about GPP. No loss: the update provides no advance the I can see.
