Title. I bought the phone of gumtree(a site like Craigslist in Australia), paid all cash and we went our seperate ways. Turns out that it is locked to t-mobile even though he said it was unlocked. I basically got scammed and was dumb enough to to not check through the phone thoroughly. Please help me unlock it. In the T-Mobile app I don't get an option to "Permanant unlock" or "Temporary unlock". It instead says, "device not registered contact customer support." Contacted t-mobile already explaining my situation but the old owner has outstanding balance so they are not willing to help me.... Please help me get it unlocked. I'm willing to pay.

I bought a T-Mobile Samsung Viibrant locally on Kijiji. And I think I got scammed.
I purchased an unlock code off ebay and entered it. I receive this message "NETWORK UNLOCK REQUEST UNSUCCESSFUL". The seller says this is a problem with the phone. I don't know what to do.
The phone doesn't say it's "frozen" or "locked". But the seller says I need to send it back Samsung (impossible for me).
Any help would be appreciated, all I want to to unlock the phone.
you may have been scammed on the unlock code, but there are good instructions on unlocking yourself in the dev forum.

dude t-mobile gives free unlock codes to all its customers as long as you been with them I think 90 days, why are you paying other people or going through all this trouble. Call 611, and they will email you a code within 14 days.

I love a free unlock code, but I'm in Canada
I'm confused, what do you mean you are in canada, why should that matter. I don't see why t-mobile wouldn't give its canada customers free unlock codes. Unless you meant, you are visiting canada, and need an unlock code ASAP.
by the way, if you crossed borders, you better turn your data off, otherwise expect to see a huge huge huge huge data roaming bill
Search this forum for free unlock code. Get the code & follow instructions to input code while your sim is in phone. Type in numbers wait until screen pops up to input mcc & mcn. Type the ones that fit your carrier then input code & the phone will be locked to your carrier. Turn phone off & on & should work.

calling anyone who can help out a windows mobile returnee. i just got a t-mobile wing from my cousin from the US as a gift but it's still sim locked to t-mobile. this is my 2nd windows mobile phone after my o2 XDA IIs got stolen way back 3yrs ago. i love these kinds of phones coz i can do lots of stuff like install apps. but of course, i want to use the phone on my home network also. so, can i ask anybody on the site, who has free time, to call t-mobile and help me out to get an unlock code? i am from the philippines and i have no other way of calling t-mobile to get an unlock code. i tried my cousins but apparently, they're too busy to do such things at the moment. anyway, i just wanted to post this hoping somebody here, who is a t-mobile subscriber, would be kind enough to call t-mobile up for me. thanks to whoever wants to help. my t-mo wing's IMEI is 35286201606649701. my email address, by the way, is [email protected]. thanks guys!
no one wants to help...tsk tsk...
please help....
how long should the unlock code be? i got a 15-digit code? is that correct? and how do i type it in? the unlock code dialog box let's me type only 8 digits? anyone care to help?
HTC-P4351 from Unicel
I have an old HTC P-4351 (assume it's the same as the T-Mobile 4350 "Wing") that I bought from a local carrier (Unicel) that went out of business a year and a half ago. I replaced it with an AT&T Tilt2 which I'm very happy with and have found a ton of neat tricks for here. Thanks for that.
I'd like to put the 4351 on eBay but it's locked, the company is out of business and can't provide an unlock code. I attempted to get one from HTC but they replied that only the carrier could provide that information. From what I see on eBay, the thing could fetch about $80 if it wasn't a locked brick sitting in my drawer.
IMEI: 35286201072742502
Instructions on how to unlock would be greatly appreciated.
I just had a nice, long, "LiveChat" with AT&T, who purchased the original carrier (Unicell) the phone was sold by. They seemed eager to help, knew exactly what I was asking for and why, asked all the right questions including the IMEI... and then told me no unlock code was available in their system after looking it up.
New to HD2. I bought and hd2 here in the marketplace and it is locked. I went through the things I found here T-mobile customer service, cellunlock.net,htc unlocker.org.
cellunlock answer: Hi
Can you please confirm the IMEI & PROVIDER of your phone by typing *#06# on your phone because the one you submitted was not found in the database so we want to make sure we have the right imei an provider.
sent them back. double checked my imei and it was ok. no answer since then(24hrs)
HTC unlocker: Just tried the unlock check: No HTC tool is available for your IMEI.

You have been connected to ~Simon A.
Stephan Gagnon: t-mobile phone in canada
~Simon A: Welcome to T-Mobile Chat service. My name is Simon and for your reference my rep ID is 1320800. First, please allow me one moment to access our information.
~Simon A: I know how important it is to know if T-Mobile phones can work in Canada.
~Simon A: I can certainly help with explaining they absolutely can work with T-Mobile SIM cards. Please be aware you would be roaming on our Canadian partner network which is Rogers.
~Simon A: Is there anything else we can assist you with today?
Stephan Gagnon: hi simon, Sorry but it is not that. I'm not a t-mobile customer, only when I go to the states and buy a card there. I've bought an htc hd2 (t-moblile) and wish to get the unlock code. Can you help me?
Stephan Gagnon: I've got my imei code here.
~Simon A: Not a problem, I can certainly help with getting the unlock code for your HD2. We can submit a request to get your phone unlocked, however you will need to provide proof that your phone was purchase from an authorized retailer.
~Simon A: Do you have a receipt from the store you bought the HD2 from?
Stephan Gagnon: ???? bought it from a particular on a HTC forum, come from new jersey. I can give you the serial too. will it help?
~Simon A: Unfortunately we can only unlock phones if they are purchased from authorized stores. What I recommend is contacting the person who sold you the HD2, make sure they have the IMEI, and that person can contact us to get this unlocked and then give you the unlocking information when it they get it.
~Simon A: Is there anything else we can assist you with today?
Stephan Gagnon: yes...unlock my phone .......
Stephan Gagnon: please be gentle....
Stephan Gagnon: poor french canadian.....
~Simon A: Not a problem, I understand and explained you what you need to do to make this unlocking happen. I am sorry but we can not unlock the phone right now.
~Simon A: Is there anything else we can assist you with today?
Stephan Gagnon: ok then, I'll pay someone else, but I'll remind that in front of the paid plan sim card display next time I'll be in the state. goodbye and thanks again.
~Simon A: I apologize for any inconveniences. The previous owner may be able to get the phone unlocked at no cost but you will need to contact them first to find out. Thank you for contacting T-Mobile Chat, have a great day!
Thank you for using our online help. You may now close this window.
I did not contacted the seller, but I'm sure it will not be helpful.... say that sell did not turn out as it should have been.
any help will be appreciated
sorry for my english
You must have a newer t-mobile phone. Try some of the unlockers on ebay... that's where I got my code from... it was only $10 for me, but I have a tmobile phone from when it was first released. They will charge $20-$25 for the newer ones. Here is the seller i got mine from... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250769032410
He says in the listing though if you have an imei newer than what he has listed, to contact him for solution. There were other listings on ebay that charged around 10 for older imeis and 25 for newer ones.
Hey all,
I'm a Canadian, living in Canada, drinking Canadian Beer. So I bought a DVP, locked to T-Mobile on eBay a few weeks ago. I was under the impression that ANYONE would be able to get the phone unlocked via Dells, "UnlockCodeRequest" email. I mean, seems simple enough right? shoot them an email with your IMIE, and voila, gold. But it didnt turn out to be the case.
So, once I got the phone, I sent them an email with my IMIE asking for an unlock code and they reply back saying, "Nope, sorry, Retail Version bro, cant unlock, Contact T-Mobile".
I'm thinking great... now i have to go to XDA-Forums and search on how to get this thing unlocked. So a week passes by and after researching SOO many forums, I come to a conclusion:
There are two ways to unlock the phone.
1) For free, through unlockcode request
2) Pay someone 80$ to get it done (theres only one service that can unlock the phone for now). the other shady places that charge $10-50 cant unlock the phone.
I didnt want to spend $80 to unlock the phone, thats like 1/3rd the price of what I paid for the phone hahaha.
Having nothing left to lose, THIS is what I did: (keep in mind, i've never been a T-Mobile customer)
Email 1 to DELL
Hi Dell Employee!
I was given this email address by Mark, a T-Mobile CSR who asked me to send you a message to get my phone unlocked. I am studying overseas in Canada and I dont want to spend more money on a new phone because I'm here for only a few months. Please help a poor student out!

I reply... once again, I have nothing to lose, so why not
Guys,
I'm not even in the US. I'm in Canada right now for an exchange program. The nearest T-Mobile store from me is 500 Miles away from me. I've called them and they keep on telling me to either call you or send you an email (this email address).
This is a little ludicrous, both of you keep on telling me to contact the other and yet the issue is not resolved.
Please advise,

And 48 hours later, I have the unlock code. The phone is now working like a charm.
Hope this helps!
Bottom line, carrier locked phones are the worst idea in the world!
it works, I had to nag and beg about the 4th or 5th time, he was going to give it to me, he gave in... but I just recieved it from unlockstreak.com so wasnt needed any longer.
why are they so damn unhelpful..?
just keep bugging em... they'll give in.
I know I emailed dell after purchasing the phone from them and I got a reply within 2 days with my unlock code. I was very surprised it was that easy. If only every company had an email address for services such as this.
My advice is if you have a DVP and need/want it unlocked, try and email them and give it 2 days or so and see if you get a reply with a code, you've got nothing to loose
I emailed Dell and they sent me an unlock code. Now just need to figure out how to get working with a hidden network and 3g Att, and we all good
Hi Im french guy , can you give me Email to contact DEll please thank you .
Worked for me too!
Got a T-Mo DVP unlocked in under 18 hours!

Now I'm just looking for another one for the wife - she wants to trade up from a BB Torch to a DVP!
Okay Thank You Bro Ill trying just after this message !
Hi All
I bought this i9505 a couple of years back and have been using on EE network (UK) - the handset is locked to EE and I would now like to unlock to use on O2 (UK). In order to get EE to unlock it - they insist on charging the owner on their next monthly bill for the service. I am no longer in touch with the original owner... so does anyone have any ideas how I can unlock this?
I have tried the posts which show to unlock in service mode - but this doesnt work (at least not for me!).
Does anyone know of any company that can unlock via IMEI or other service?
Thanks in advance.

Do a search for "Triangle Away" in both the SIM unlocking thread and the forums in general. Should be plenty of information in both places to assist you.
Us lucky S4 owners and our ability to unlock the phone without paying for it.
On a serious note, he may have to pay up if the SIM unlock method we use here doesn't work.

Or you can simply buy an unlocking code. I got my Galaxy S6 unlocked a few months ago (and a few other phones) using some online providers. If you want, I can recommend you some.

Thanks Andrew - are you in the UK? If so please do let me know which service you used as the couple I have tried take the IMEI number then route you through to lots of phishing websites wanting you to complete surveys etc... if you know a service that is safe in UK then I really dont mind paying (a little )
If you go to sammobile.com, they have an unlock service there you can use. Cost I believe is around the 20USD mark (13.30GBP) for the most basic option, though they do have quicker options that cost more.

Hey,
Sorry for the late response, I was away for the past week. So, the website is www.unlockunit.com, if you still need to unlock your phone. There wasn't any survey to complete, just an order form.
