So I have not looked at the logic board yet since I have not been at home to take the rear frame cover off, but I have to replace the screen on my G4...Was wondering if the logic board in the G4 is the exact same logic board used in the G4 Plus minus the Finger Print sensor?
The Moto g4 doesn't have the hardware for the fingerprint. If you check disassembly videos for both phones you'll see the actual chip and cables are missing.

Hello, folks.
I've been a big fan of magnet car dock since Nexus 5 had magnets on its back. As I've been using LG G3, OnePlus One, and Note 4 (N910T and N910S), I attached magnet on its battery (or back) cover to use my phones with the magnet dock. Unfortunately, it seems there would be no way to remove back panel for Moto X Pure Edition unless teardown major components.
Would there be any ideas or thoughts where should I attach a magnet plate? (I don't usually put my phone into any sort of protective cases.)
Thanks.

Sounds like you'll either have to compromise and get a case (there are pretty low profile ones around), attach the magnet to the back and deal with the aesthetics, or move away from magnets for this particular phone. I can't really think of any other options... besides that maybe once people have some time with it they'll figure out how to open the back without breaking anything and make a tutorial...
I have a Moto X Pure with a screen that cracked today in my front pocket. I'm baffled and bummed, and of course despite being 5 months old Motorola is of no help. I was wondering if anyone here has successfully removed a wood/bamboo back plate to swap out the LCD. For older Moto X's people on ifixit saying forget it because it is not glued in, and it'll crack on removal. Just wondering if anyone has done it on this model, and if so how. Also, I am reading on here that LSHtech is the way to go for a replacement. Can anyone confirm or offer other suggestions for a screen/LCD assembly?
Thank you all for your time.

In sure you can replace it but get the LCD screen and frame assembly. When trying to open it up be extremely careful and you'll be fine
If it is 5 months old you should have Motorola do it elevate your request if need be the customer service kinda sucks but keep at it.

Did my screen yesterday. It wasn't wood, but that shouldn't prevent you from getting the back off without breaking it. Spend extra time with the heat gun. If you do manage to break it, you can score a new back for a whopping $10.
And for the love of god, be sure to get an LCD with the speaker grills installed already.
I have been using MotoG4 plus from past 2 months and lately seen a lot of dust on the front camera from inside.
Is anyone else also facing this problem ?
Never faced such problem in earlier version of moto g phones.
Never had that problem on any phone I've had. And I've had a lot of them. Maybe get service if it's affecting your pics.

Open the phone and clean it. Use double sided adhesive foam to tighten the camera from air. Maybe you have a model where they forgot this piece of foam?
Thinking about a G5 plus to replace my 2014 G2 lte, but the protruding lens does not look good and worries me. Specially since lenovo's camera "glass" on previous Moto phones seems scratch prone.
So, anyone with real world data care to chip in?
Does it scratch or not?
It's now down to the G5 plus, the 2017 A5 (i have hatred towards samsung and the fragile glass back is just stupid) or Oneplus 3t (which actually is a wee bit too pricey in my book).

Well if you can go for one plus 3t it would be worth it in every way.. But as far as i can see about this device.. If u are an average user like me with mildly heavy usage u'd be more than happy with this moto g5 plus
PS. The back camera doesn't seem so fragile to me but ur milage may vary I'd recommend putting on a case.. Just in case

You may go with Moto G5+ if camera is your priority. And coming from G2 it would be a great upgrade. The SOC used is phenomenal its gives a good battery life with a great performance.
The bulged out camera lens is made up of glass and is scratch resistance but to be on a safe side use a cover.

I don't think it's scratch resistant. My brother has a G4 and it got scratched horribly. Wouldn't expect much from G5 either. I'm still waiting for a decent case to appear in the market. Definitely getting one asap
I would like to know about the same adap

In G4+ it had a plastic len but it is not case with g5+. G5+ has a glass camera lens. Yes we must use a good cover as it might get scratches.

Hmm that's true. But it depends on the type of glass as well. OnePlus 3's glass got scratched easily and so they replaced it with sapphire glass in 3T

Mine has stayed great so far, I've had it for about a month but I really baby my phones. I take it in and out of a case all the time and havn't seen any damage so far.
Even on my phone ... Those damages are not visible easily but upon tilting phone i see some wyt spots
I feel really worried abt it. Ant ways can u tell me how much it may cost me to replace the body in service center
So this tells us we need to keep Moto g5 plus in case, always.
