Something really weird happened to my O2 mini s. I just saw all the LED lights flash and then the phone vibrated and went blank. I did a soft reset it restart but then the same thing happened. I did a hard reset it was all ok, then when the O2 software began installing it did the same. Flashed all LEDs including the flash led vibrated and went blank. I though it was the battery. Changed the battery and it would refuse to wake up, just switch on all LEDs and keep vibrating. This kept happening for several times, and then suddenly all was ok. Re-installed an all, all is fine now. But I wonder what happened? And will it happen again? Any explanation by anyone would help. Thanks in advance.
This sounds like a hardware fault to me.
Can you think of ANY outside influences? Things like extreme temperature exposure, exposure to high humidity, or very fast changes of temperature or humidity could all cause shorts or low resistance conditions. I don't know that any of these historically lead to the type of fault you experienced specifically in Wizards, but from an electronics standpoint, anything of this nature could cause bizarre but temporary faults. Even dropping it could cause you problems of an unusual nature.
If the answer to any of the above (except dropping) was yes, do this:
Gather up all the desiccant you can find. This stuff can be found in bags of jerky, and in just about any electronics box ever packed. Sometimes I find little "jars" of desiccant in medicine bottles (long-acting antacids, in particular). Put the phone in a plastic zip-top bag in a warm, dry place with all of the desiccant inside and seal it up tight. Leave it for at least 12 hours, but 24 would be better. Throw away the desiccant when you're done.
If you can't come up with an outside cause for the fault, you may just have to chalk it up to the age of these phones. They are far from new. Even if you just bought yours, chances are good that it is refurbished, and electronics, like fruit, will go bad eventually.

Thanks for your detailed reply. I think the temperature would be the reason. I am in India and that too in the Southern part and its been awfully hot these last few days (40 deg. C or more) yesterday I was in my room and had switched on the air conditioning, the phone was near the ac for a while. Then I did switch off the ac, probably this fluctuation caused to form moisture? It was behaving weird but its ok for the time being... for the last 12 hrs or so. I am waiting for 3G services in India before I decide on my new phone, so I hope this lasts for another 6 months. Hope! Thanks again, will try your method if this happens again.

If dessication didn't work, you can also try swapping batteries with someone (best to do this while the problem is presenting itself).
You can also try doing a hard reset as a last resort (remember to backup your PIM info!), but I doubt this will do you any good. However, it doesn't cost you anything, and is therefore worth a try.
See if your service carrier offers insurance on your phone. If they do, sign up, and turn it in a week later for replacement. Just remember to wipe out your personal data and remove any HardSPL/Unlocks you might have done.
If insurance fraud is distasteful to you, hit eBay. You can usually score a decent condition Wizard for around $120 USD.
I haven't really tried dessication, but I think its gone beyond that. Batteris I have 3 and none of them worked. Is it easy to open the phone and try and "air" it? Will that help. Unfortunately carriers in this country don't have insurance plans. So that leaves out that last option. And if I have to buy another phone then why... the same one... ;-) Thanks anyways..
Woke up this morning and phone was off and very very hot, screen was actually burning to touch and the battery the same. Just managing to get it to come on now by the looks of it. Anyone had this? always thought my battery could be the cause of random reboots as its always hot when the phone does it and goes on reboot cycle until i saw its a common type of hardware fault!
ok finally got it to boot turns out it has charged a bit its 61% wouldnt come on for ages though!

Sounds like what happened to my old nokia 6280 many many years ago...
Might be a battery defect, I sent mine for servicing the last time and they said the battery was nearing the end of its usuable life lol.
its a replacement about 3 months ago - the phone! been stuck constant reooting for ages now, diong it now every 2min struggling to get stuff back on the phone after the update
Well there is not much other to do than send it back to repair.
I wouldn't mess around with it too much if i were you. When electronics fail to protect your lithium battery from overcharging or over-discharging, the battery will get very hot. At some point the battery can even get uncontrollably hot and explode. If it sometimes gets so hot then there is something wrong with the electronics to prevent this and you should send it back to a repair center.
Happened to me to but it was my fault left my phone charging under my pillow.
I think is a problem with the charger mine had the same issue like 3 times but we aware it hurted my screen.... It was not responding as good as before so i took it to my career and have a replacement of all... Phone, Battery and Charger...
Take care of it or you'll have the same problem as i did...

I had the same thing happen a few months ago and the phone ended up not booting anymore a couple of weeks later. Had it replaced and new x10 has been running great since then.

Yeah I've this issue before usually I manage to cool it down before it huts the phone, I don't know why this happends but it occours randomly. Any ideas??

all of you who are having issues it could be either:
1.Charger base(where you connect your USB in) has gone bad
2.Battery Defective(try getting access to another battery)
3.Software needs to be reflashed or there could be bad apps that uses power
4.Defective hardware and needs to be turned in for Warranty which im sure 100% of everyone on this forum has
I don't have warranty on my x10, it was a giveway present from someone who got it by a giveaway present from someone who works for SE.

This happened to my X10i too.
It would charge for hours and gain like 1% and get extremely hot.
I let the battery go flat, then I took out the battery and waited for a few hours.
When I charged it afterwards, it worked fine afterwards, haven't had any other problems with it. =)
Yeah, I've had the same problem a time or two as well. I would send mine in for repair under warranty, but alas, my Digitizer is cracked. So they would probably deny me.
Dont think they would deny it they just wouldnt fux the digitizer. if there is a problem with their product which i think there is alot of hardware issues in a large number of x10s out there [rebooting / overheating constant like mine] they are legally going to have to replace/repair this
Well, its sworth a shot then I guess, Im having a TON of different hardware problems with this phone. Worst they can say is no, right?

Often, while charging, if I access any apps, my phone goes to reboot cycle. Have also noticed that the battery gets hotter than usual during those times. Its a way too nagging problem in an otherwise good phone.

I tried everything to fix the heat, freeze, reboot issue with this phone after I bought it used. Upgrade, firmware, downgraded, custom rom..etc..nothing helped. I bought a cheapy phone recently for a back up because the Xperia X10a I bought second hand was that unreliable.
I took apart the phone down to the main board, removed the main board and baked it in my home convection oven. Nothing new, it's the snapdragon processor, it's also used in some dud HTC phones and others. The processor's soldering isn't that great in some and when it gets too hot it just simply freezes and restarts.
Baking it in the oven helped for now. It's functioning fully without issue and while it still warms up a bit, it keeps working. I don't know how long this will last as some hack reflows like this one only last a month or two, sometimes less. Others last a lot longer. Here's hoping. I did upload some vids to youtube for anyone interested. Go to youtube and search for MrSpywhite, or send me a message and I'll give you the links.
It's the only thing that worked for me to get this thing to stop crashing. I bought a new battery thinking that might help, it didn't but it's handy having a second battery.
Interesting solution, you literally "COOKED" the ROM! (Well, not exactly of course but close enough)
If you don't have warranty, give it to a bit more professional service, maybe they will repair this issue for few bucks.. or try to use soldering station with hot air to heat it. I don't think that baking it in oven is the greatest idea

I thought about those options and I did call around to some shops. Soldering station, a cheap one but still reliable runs $100. Many service techs charge $75 per hour, and quote a minimum of two hours with no guarantee it will work. For that money, I may as well go into a store and get another phone.
Ok, recently I've been having freezing problems constantly and I found out that is was my old sim card that was causing the most problem with that deal. I got a new sim and it is working much better, but still has some freezes but not as much as before. I can conclude that my HD2 has always run hot, but now that I got a new sim it doesn't run as hot but I think the heat sensor is faulty as it barely gets hot but freezes my phone anyways. I got to thinking is there anyway we can either disable or bypass the heat sensor on our HD2 software wise or even hardware wise? So I google searched and stumbled on to this:

Now, this scared me. I think there is a reason why there is a temperature safety valve on our phones!

Often these batteries do not have any fuses or security stuff in them because they just want to produce a cheap product.
It sucks for that guy that his phone exploded and caught fire...glad he's okay.
But the important thing is, anyone else catch those baby blue bed sheets with the bugs on them? Priceless!
i think a lot of the dead touch input problems are related to the phone getting hot,
I recently bought a replacement hd2, cos mine, tho it worked fine, had a cracked screen. I started using my old hd2 just to charge the extra battery i now had, swapping out the batteries once or twice a day, so the old phone, tho it wasn't being used, was plugged in to wall charger most of the time, and within a few days (a week, tops) the screen has gone. No touch input at all. 18 months without a glitch, and bang, gone. So glad i pre-emptively replaced it!
Is it possible for HTC to issue a recall for HD2 owners? Just like Apple did a recall recently with their really old iPod Nano for a new one.

That sucks, haha. My battery runs at 31-36 degrees, its quite hot, but I'm not that worried at it running at that heat, don't think it'll catch fire.

I'm afraid you are right，many batteries made in China with that huge a storage is fake and useless. There is a highly risk that it might blow your phone when they got too hot.
Never let your HD2 get too warm, my last one broke because of that.
Exploding fireball HD2s aside...has anyone ever thought of how to disable the heat sensor? Maybe something fun to do on an HD2. That'd be cool!

I have rad that this is quite a common problem and may be due to tbe battery, however no solution seems to be a 100% fix.
I'm now considering whether to bother trying to get a third replacement: perhaps all G3s will suffer from this major problem. Aside frkm this major issue the phone is awesome and perfectly priced.
So, how common actually is this problem? Who else has had it?
Could you all perhaps post the date of manufacturing of your battery, and anything you have found that solves / helps the issue.

My old(stock) battery was made in 2014 (i don't remember the date).I couldn't use the device without the charger because it would go on bootloop.
Bought a new battery(made on 2016) and everything got solved.

I purchased an extra battery and a cradle in Aug2014 and had no issues until this summer when my phone would bootloop ocassionally with one of the batteries, and then eventually it wouldn't boot at all and just bootlooped. So I bought another from LG for $15( http://www.lg.com/us/cell-phone-batteries ) and all is well. The date code on the working old one is 6/9/2014 and the new one is 8/22/2016; the one that died & I replaced was also 6/9/2014. LG batteries die a strange, and sometimes sudden death that can make it look like the phone is messed up. Most phones give you a warning - faster dissipation, faster charge time - but not so much on the G3...just random death at random battery %, bootloop, and all kinds of weirdness.
I bought a new battery (made in 2016, old one was from 2014) and i havent seen any random restarts when the phone is bellow 15%. Also noticed that my battery lasts alot more.
Mine is definitely battery related. I bought 2 spare batteries (LG branded one, but from ebay) and one causes my G3 to reboot often. The other one doesn't at all.
I'm getting this a lot lately, have never replaced the battery since getting the phone roughly two years ago. Good to know that others have replaced the battery and it has resolved the problem.

The OEM batteries last about 1-2 years for us before they start causing reboots. But that was easy to diagnose.
The real reboot/shutdown culprit for us was overheating. The heat dissipation is poor in the G3's design. Using a thermal pad on the SoC was a 100% fix for our 2 G3's. It dropped the SoC temp 10-15 C, and we haven't had a prob since. Easy and cheap.

There is actually a thread on using thermal paste for this, but I strongly recommend using a pad, due to the expansion of paste after it heats. I'll give you a quick guide here and for others in this thread.
To start you will need a kit like this if you don't have one already. They are handy to have anyways because a kit like that can open most modern small gadgets.
Then you'll need the thermal pad. For a perfect fit, I would use a 15x15x0.5mm non-metallic pad like this. You don't have to get that one, it's just an example. You could also get a larger one with the same 0.5mm thickness, and just cut it down to 15x15mm.
Use this video to disassemble the G3. It's the best one I have found so far. Of course, you don't have to disassemble it all the way like in the video. Just enough to expose the SoC chip (the biggest and most obvious chip on the board, you can't miss it).
Things I recommend when applying the pad, but not required:
- Perform the install in a clean, static-free environment.
- Be delicate when removing the ribbon cables. The tool kit mentioned above makes this 100% easier.
- Before applying, clean both the surface of the SoC and the surface of the metal phone frame indent where the other side of the pad will make contact with alcohol or something similar.
- When reassembling, tighten all screws as much as you can without stripping them. This ensures the gps/wifi/radio contacts are good.
My GF and I have been using this thermal pad mod for over 2 years now on our LS990s with no problems. I used 6wmk pads on both. Others have reported wifi/gps reception problems, but I found this resulted from using too thick of a thermal pad (1mm thick or more), or using paste.

Had them when I got my (used) LGG3 in 8/15..
Replaced the SD card and retflashed to stock.
No problems since.
Most stable phone I've ever owned by far (JB'd iPhone 5 rebooted waayy too many times f.e.)
Either a dying battery or the infamous connectors issue with LG manufactured phones.
If the latter, please refer to @AlwaysLucky guide or something similar.
Do NOT PUT YOUR MOTHERBOARD IN THE OVEN.

My Device (An T-Mobile D851) has Rebooting issues and Screen Dying before (Even with a pair on new batterys)... So, I made an Guide to resolve this problem, related on overheat in the SoC.

I bought a new battery which claimed to be new and genuine, but when I tried it in my phone I straight away got the instant shut downs. At first I thought that It must be the phone and not the battery, but today I tested it by having my old battery in which was currently causing no shutdowns, then i put the 'new' battery in and I got the shut downs again, then I put my old battery in and the shut downs stopped.
The issue seems to relate to how long the battery has been without mains charge, rather than the level of the battery.
e.g. If the battery has been off charge for 11+ hours but is on 70% I might still get the shutdowns, or if it's been off charge for -5 hours but is 20% battery I won't get them.
My big problem right now is finding a place in the UK to buy a genuine new LG battery, or possibly an Anker one.
Any ideas anyone? LG UK doesn't seem to stock them like they do in the US. Amazon sellers are a lottery, and eBay is like the wild west!

Polarcell battery from eBay run really great and it is around 20€, I have one since september and I am very happy.

Sorry, it's a mystery to me. This is why I'm rather dubious of claims that this is solely a battery problem.
I bought another brand new battery and I still get the problem.
I have tried multiple things:
- Safe mode
- Deactivating battery optimization
- turning off background sync and backup
- turning off wifi and data
- rooting
- uninstalling apps
This seems to be related to how long the phone has been off charge for, but it definitely ISN'T a battery problem: I've tried 3 different phones and 6 different batteries and they have all had the same problem.
The only thing I can think it must be is either a problem with the charger giving incorrect voltage /current or some kind of circuitry or module that degrades/ corrupts between charges.
I don't have an original LG G3 charger of 1.8A, so I'm using a 2.0A one. Perhaps that's the problem.
Having never had a phone that has once rebooted previous to the several G3s I've now had I'm at the point where I'll get rid of this manufactured broken phone and never buy LG again.
Anyone have any good suggestions for a similar spec / priced phone (used). I've already tried a Xperia Z2 but the camera was absolutely dreadful!
I had this problem recently in which I had to change the battery and all is well but sadly, my phone's bezel got cracked spontaneously, but this time. It is at the IR sensor, so LG DO have quality control issues, but first things first - buy an OEM battery - they can be had for £5 at least on eBay.
Speaking of chargers, I had an LG charger that came with the LG G3 I bought, but that died. Fu©king Korean piece of $hit.
