I'm considering buying the Chinese A2017 Axon 7. I want to know how well it is translated to English?
Are there a lot of Chinese apps/menus etc?
Other question, can I install the US firmware and add the nav-bar later using xposed and such?
Thanks all

Not Advisable!!!
You gotta remember that it's running Android just like everyone else. It's just been tweaked a bit. So basically most of the translations has been done at Google before ZTE has even touched the codebase. Only the things that they've added on top will need the extra translation, and they're there. Nothing I've noticed that has missing or wrong English translation except first time sdcard insertion notification message. There are of course the Chinese only apps, but that's to be expected and none of them are really useful or required.

You will want ZTE market if you don't have google apps installed but you can pretty much muddle your way through that by looking for familiar icons. It will also send you tothe right place if you search for "Google Installer".
Just remember to set the google play store, gmail and google play services to autorun through Mi-Assisstant after installing through ZTE Market...
Thank you all for your replies
I have the A2017G and am using it in Dutch. I must say that some translations on the device are just wayyy off. I verified against some of the English translations on the same place, and they are ok-ish. But for example, when you open the list of running apps, in English the bottom line says 'Clear all' to close all running apps, but in Dutch (translated to English) it says: "Erase all settings for the website?", which makes no sense at all in this context...
It's Chinese version come with on screen buttons?

Since Google Assistant is rolling out for all Nougat Devices in US, UK, Germany and other countries, here's how to get it now.
- Have Nougat (duuuhhh)
- Have latest version of Google App and Play Services
- First set system language to English (US)
- Then delete Google App data
- After some hours you should get Google Assistant (it just tells you so when holding home button)

Do you have it working on your device already? Which version of Google app an Google play services do you have?

MORE:
After having Google Assistant, you can change its language to English UK or German, as well, but the speech output by GA is way better on English US.

Ah okay, I haven't tried German for more than some more minutes since the Speech output in English (US) is fluent and natural sounding.

What is that slider thing that says Google in the top left of your screen?
I have a T-Mobile S8 (not +) and currently in South Carolina. I had pretty much given up on Bixby Voice coming on today but checked it one last time and there was the new icon.
Sorry if there is another post but I didn't see one. Hopefully this helps out.
Male voice is also in there. I dont know what to think.
Wonder how it works, is it region locked by Samsung account or IP??

Yeah apkmirror should have it but from what I've read it's a server side update so not sure if the apk will work.
Must be based on your CSC. Samsung has all my information no go on my F model.
Hi friends, I see everyone says they got updates but they can't use voice still. So here we go, Go in settings and change TIME only time not date and set it 23:48 PM.
Then press Bixby key a few times and it will activate.
Works
Wow, I thought let me just try it out, what's the worse that can happen. It actually works lol!

I would never post if it wouldn't work. I found this method of activating bixby myself.
Looks like its got potential but the fact its only working on US English makes it terrible, It really cant understand a word im saying with london accent
anyone got spotify working on it yet
For all my Indian friends !!
Bixby is on hold for India !! we won't get it at the moment.
I got it activated just by changing system language to English US

At least you feel useless after trying it. But here in India there is no sign of bixby. I doubt whether Samsung India is aware of bixby voice assistant.

Go to Galaxy Apps, search for Bixby Home and look at the Most Recent reviews. For the most part they're terrible. I'd recommend Google Assistant. I've been using it for a while since getting a smart speaker that also uses it. Does everything (?) Bixby is supposed to do and it's terrific. My married daughter (yeah I'm not young) also uses it. She said: "Hey Google add coffee to my shopping list." It did. She didn't even have a shopping list. It created one, and put coffee on it.

You can't install Bixby from Galaxy Apps. You must install it from internet by dowloading files and doing some long things. Maybe u installed a chinese version of Bixby.

I haven't even tried to install an English version, much less the Chinese one. Why would I when the reviews are, for the most part, terrible, and all I know about Chinese (Mandarin) is the words for beer and thank you (I got by on the essentials when I was there...).

You didn't catch what I was referring to with "chinese version". I was saying about non-original version of Bixby. Try Bixby witn a S8/S9/N8/N9 and you'll change your mind. Trust me.

Unless I'm much mistaken this forum is for the Galaxy A5 2017. That's what I'm using. I'm unlikely to buy an S8/S9/N8/N9 just to see whether all the people who give Bixby terrible reviews are wrong.

It's not my mind that needs to change. It's the minds of all the people who give it terrible reviews. As I say I haven't even tried to install it. I have Google Assistant on my phone and a smart speaker and it's terrific.

This is what Samsung say:
* Currently available with Galaxy Note9/S9/S9+/Note8/S8/S8+.https://www.samsung.com/global/galaxy/apps/bixby/
So the answer is: No. It doesn't work on the A5.
There is a terrific ROM for the A5 2017 developed by Corsicanu which incorporates many features of the S8. This is what he says re Bixby Voice on A5 2017:
About bixby voice, samsung changed some things in Oreo, probably to be sure we can't use it anymore on non bixby devices, so it will never work properly for 2 reasons:
- this rom keeps the device props of A8, A8 doesn't have bixby voice so bixby voice doesn't show up at all;https://forum.xda-developers.com/sa...srom-stock-t3779567/post77449715#post77449715

We're not told what these 'long things' are.
On the other hand you can simply install Google Assistant:
Hey Google: Add coffee to my shopping list
Hey Google: What's the weather forecast?
Hey Google: Remember that I parked on the first floor of the car park in space 345.
Hey Google: Where did I park my car?
You told me you parked on the first floor of the car park in space 345
Hey Google: What's two beers please in Mandarin?
Want that in writing? No problem:
请两瓶啤酒
Handles over 100 languages. Going abroad? Got data or wi-fi? Think about it...
Forget about 'dowloading files and doing some long things'. Google Assistant is terrific.

Yeah I know that Google Assistant is good. But I used bixby a lot on this phone and trust me, it can do a lot of things. Anyway If you want so choose bixby voice than use a supported phone. Now I'm switching to iPhone with Siri. So I don't care anymore about this Voice Assistant Battle Royale like Google Assistant, Bixby, Amazon echo etc...
