Anyone else experiencing this? I am on 4.5.3 and miss notifications because the volume is too low (at max value).

My earpiece volume seems to be extremely loud even at the minimum setting. Its as if it is stuck on Max, anyone else having this issue? I'm on a rooted 1.5.7.
Otherwise is there a file I can edit to turn the gain down?

Does anyone else have this problem while in call, the volume is low but when you adjust it and lower the volume then raise it back up, it's louder than it was when you first had it at full volume?
I am having trouble trying to get an answer to this question.
I have the exact same issue as described. After having 12 Nexus 4s I can tell you that some have this issue, some stay at the loud volume you see after adjustment, and some stay at the quiet volume before adjustment (absolute worst). Be lucky that you can reach the loud volume and pray that the fix will be in the next update.

I have a similar issue with mine.
When I receive calls, the top speaker is very quiet (even if I press the volume button to maximum), but when I move my face away from the phone then back to it (activating the proximity sensor) the volume goes up to what it should it.
Could this e a software bug or warrant an RMA?
I just got the G2 and its great but I can't hear any of my notifications, the volume is maxed and I still don't think its loud enough. Is there anything I can do?
Slide down the notification bar. On the right hand side of the volume rocker there's a settings Option.
Press on it and it will allow you to adjust the volume of your notifications individually.

Check if it's on Max.

I regularly find that when I'm listening to music, if I try to adjust the volume with the volume rocker buttons, often it adjusts the "in call" volume instead.
Unfortunately, as I'm not in a call at the time, it has no effect and I'm unable to adjust the music volume.
I have to expand the call volume slider that appears and manually adjust the music slider.
I've tried force closing the music app, restarting my device, etc, but nothing seems to correct it. Seems to resolve itself after a while but it's getting increasing frustrating!
Anyone else experienced this?
Edit - i've noticed that even after I close the music app, the volume rocker still adjusts call volume, rather than the ringer volume as it should. Something's not right!
What is your phone / rom version? I had same problem with A2017G under MM B10 but it is now fine after I came to Nougat B01 (7.0.0).

Thanks for the reply - I'm on B10. Was avoiding Nougat for now as big fan of Xposed.
The problem was certainly there before rooting etc so confident it's not cause of anything I've done.
Ah well, looks like I may be stuck with it unless I can figure out the cause.
Is there any way to adjust the ring/notification volume besides having to go into settings/sound? The volume rock only adjusts media volume.

I believe this is the new way it's set up in Android Pie.
I find it very annoying.

Completely agree on it being annoying. I'v very surprised that Google chose to make this the standard for Android Pie. I don't understand the logic at all.
I completely agree, it makes no sense at all. The old system worked perfectly and made more sense - you only need to adjust media volume WHEN MEDIA IS PLAYING. The rest of the time the rocker should adjust ringer/notification volume.
I made a thread about this very thing a few weeks ago and was told by most people that I'm the one with the problem because why would I ever need to adjust my ringer volume on a regular basis. I guess some people don't want louder volume during the day and quieter at night.
