Volume button issues - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

I regularly find that when I'm listening to music, if I try to adjust the volume with the volume rocker buttons, often it adjusts the "in call" volume instead.
Unfortunately, as I'm not in a call at the time, it has no effect and I'm unable to adjust the music volume.
I have to expand the call volume slider that appears and manually adjust the music slider.
I've tried force closing the music app, restarting my device, etc, but nothing seems to correct it. Seems to resolve itself after a while but it's getting increasing frustrating!
Anyone else experienced this?
Edit - i've noticed that even after I close the music app, the volume rocker still adjusts call volume, rather than the ringer volume as it should. Something's not right!

What is your phone / rom version? I had same problem with A2017G under MM B10 but it is now fine after I came to Nougat B01 (7.0.0).

Thanks for the reply - I'm on B10. Was avoiding Nougat for now as big fan of Xposed.
The problem was certainly there before rooting etc so confident it's not cause of anything I've done.
Ah well, looks like I may be stuck with it unless I can figure out the cause.

[Q] Notification ringtone louder after 3.1 update?

After updating my Galaxy Tab 10.1 Limited Edition to 3.1, I noticed that the notification sound was considerably louder... even at the lowest volume. Has anybody else noticed this? Any proposed fixes? Thanks in advance!
open the volume thingy by using the volume rocker then tap the settings looking thing to the right of the volume slider. That should bring up the notification volume level.

I hadn't noticed that. Cheers.
It seems as if my tablet after the update to 3.1 it doesn't play music as loud from the headset Jack. It even gives you a warning about damaging your ears that I don't remember seeing in 3.0.
This a bummer because one of the main things I use my tablet for is playing music on my sterio. Its a great music player but now it seems as if it just won't turn up loud enough.
@onovich
I don't think the music volume was affected with my tab... but, then again, I didn't listen to a whole lot of music on it before the update.

Thanks for the info... I should've mentioned that I'm not a Honeycomb newb, so I was able to turn the notification volume down... but even at it's lowest setting, it's still pretty loud. But it seems like I have a good amount of bugs that nobody else has mentioned on these forums to think that a factory reset might fix them all.
I'll keep you all posted.
Thanks!

Volume at maximum after reboot

Problem reproduced like this:
1. I set my media volume to 0 (mute).
2. I reboot my phone (exynos vers).
3. My media volume will be at maximum when using any app (games, youtube, mxplayer, etc) although the slider will still show 0 volume.
4. Pressing volume down on the physical button will not decrease the volume (the slider will keep showing volume at 0). I can only mute the volume again by pressing volume up first (the volume then immediately becomes lower) followed by pressing down again.
5. The volume will not reset to maximum again until I reboot my phone.
Anyone experienced this problem or know what could be causing it? It's driving me crazy!!
Thanks.
EDIT: I have done more testing and this behaviour only happens when the volume is set to zero before reboot. If the volume is set to anything else, it remains at that level correctly after reboot.
Yup its a bug that annoys the crap out of me.
Exact same, i reboot a few times in a day depending what am doing with the device.
I always listen to music while i work.
If bluetooth fails to connect, Music blurs out the handset even though it was on silent.
Pressing the rocker up and down re-set it back to vibrate.
But really annoying

Yeah annoys the crap out of me. I didn't even figure out it was because of the reboots until today. Are you on stock? Rooted?

serious bug

Sometimes when am using music player and try to low the volume it should be spontaneously once I press volume up or down to alter volume of sound however my device sometimes stuck on lowering mic or ringtone and I cannot lower my sound volume except by taping on screen volume setting and figure out to media manually... This bug is so frustrating... Any idea??
I personnaly don't have this bug. Which firmware version are you running?
I have same problem: When I try to volume up / down my music it only volumes up / down my ringtone volume. I think it is an firmware issue, I didn't have this bug on B130 but now on B151.
Try disable SWS effect..

sound on RR/LOS-based

Does anybody else have problems with the volume in those roms? Now that the DAC is fixed, there is no distortion. However I find the volume levels uneven and also extremely loud. Sure, it's nice to see that the DAC can push the volume so high but my ears always hurt when listening to music on those roms.
Did anyone find a way to tweak the volume or make the sound be more soft like in stock roms? If so, please share your experience thanks
We have an existing thread for the sound fix here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/sound-fix-los-los-base-roms-t3587373
Edit: Looks like the latest version, 4.2, has some volume fixes.
you can turn down the volume with the volume rocker ;P

I know what the OP is talking about.... Even having the volume rocker at the very first click up, and I'm on 30 step volume, the notifications are still really loud.
V4a can turn down the gain of the over-all system...But then the music is a little low.
I'm living with it, as I prefer using RR/LOs over stock. I also have music software and have went in and turned down my main notification tone and ringtone so they are usable on my A7.

Auto adjusting media volume (all ROMs)

I have had this weird bug with all headphones, all ROMS and on all Android versions.
Basically on YouTube while I am watching the volume slider will appear and then auto adjust the volume up and down randomly. Even on headphones without physical volume buttons.
Afterwards the Google Assistant or Google Now will launch into voice search mode and the video will keep pausing and resuming.
I do not press the volume buttons at all. This is a very irritating problem and I need a fix for that ASAP.
Anyone else have this problem?
[Edit: thread can be closed, fixed with Lineage 14]
