Hi all,
I download Facebook on windows market.
But when i use it, i dont have any notifications. Does anyone knows if there is something to activate notify message ?
thx a lot
I also have noticed this problem with the Hd2 facebook app, and notice a ton of info/notifications when i log in with my pc that i do not see on my HD2...would be a massively helpful tweak if htc/facebook would get on it!
Also noticed the lack of a proper facebook chat client that is done so well on the Iphone facebook app... ah man!
The facebook app for windows sucks. really needs a massive improvement
just use http://touch.facebook.com for the time being
Just installed this, cant believe how nice it looks!
But yeah theres an option now to start and sign in when the phone does, which is appealing because it would be similar to blackberry messenger.
But would this cause a serious drain on battery? Surely its no different to having GTalk running?
nimbuzz does not have push notification like GTalk or the nimbuzz on the iphone so it will drain your battery like mad because its constant connection to stay logged in.
the closes thing to bbm is gtalk atm. or whatsapp when they release it on the android
that sucks, no one I know uses gtalk lol. is whatsapp being released on Android?

Hows your battery life when using nimbuzz?
Whatsapp should be released soon but i dont see why people are paying for this app when GTalk does the same if not more and its FREE?
Ask your friends to install GTalk on their devices for now, they might like it =)
Because "WhatsApp" does not need special username or PIN.
You only need your phone number (in international forward) and that's it!
Very nice indeed, but when for Android????

When you install Nimbuzz, does it ALWAYS connected ?
Is it possible to run it on-demand?
Because I might interested in using it as "Skype" client ONLY. And use it when I want to use Skype-call feature.

nimbuzz is always connected and it does not support push notification.
i installed it to use skype but it doesnt support group chat so its a bit useless for me.
But generally skype does not support push notification, not even on there own official apps
Is it possible to turn the connection OFF ?
And only use it just to use Skype for calling (international) land-lines for example?

You can sign out which turns the connection off.
so you can sign in when you need to use skype and sign out when your finished
Does anybody see their own picture in conversation? I have in my account, but I /and frieds don`t see it.
I tried Nimbuzz today, but unfortunately I cannot use it to use my Skype account to call (non-skype) landlines / mobile phones
I know, for this feature I need full featured Skype client, correct? And it does not exist on Android !
Nimbuzz has been uninstalled ...
Do you have your mobile number associated with skype in order to send sms and call? I have and have no problems calling mobile numbers from Nimbuzz. I takes credit from my skype account.
Yes, I finally figured it out how to get that ...
BUT ... it is really buggy ...
It only worked for the FIRST TIME ... showing that saved number.
When I modified or added some more in the Skype PC application, logout Skype.
They dont appear on the Nimbuzz.
I tried to login-logout Nimbuzz ... it does not work.
I tried to remove Skype account and added again ... it does not work
I tried to uninsall Nimbuzz and reinstall ... it does not work
I tried to uninstall Nimbuzz, reboot phone, reinstall ... it does not work
Whatever I tried in Android phone with Nimbuzz, it did not "sync" (or update) the Skype saved numbers.
So, yeah, frustrated with this kind of quality of the Nimbuzz for Android.
Does it work on yours? The add/update Skype saved numbers ...

no, removing the account did not refresh contacts
Yupe, and there is NO WAY to refresh either
So, I guess I have to wait another update ... (if there will be any!).
Anyway, I tested to call using SkypeOut and the call quality is not that good, there was some delays at the other end (long distance international call).
But, certainly it is better than Fring.

I've been searching around for something like this. All it needs is phone signal. This would be convenient when I'm in another country. So yeah, are there any apps like this? Paid included
The ones i can think of are the ebuddy, im+, meebo and imeasy
yeah but those require data connection. BB messenger doesnt, it sorta like has its own private network
But then wouldnt you need a connection to the BBM servers? Which most likely means u need a cellular or data connection.

U can try whatsapp very nice

You definitely need a data plan for BBM it just used signifigantly less data than most cause it does all the thinking n rendering on blackberries end.
On that note, the bad news is that there is definitely nothing comparable in android. Check ebuddy but you're still going to need a data plan, even with a BB.

Try kik messenger, I dont think you need a internet connection for it, I use it all the time. It's in the android market, and its free.
They all use either a data connection or sms as far as I know. What other ways are even possible? Using the GPS to send it over a satellite, or ultra far reaching bt/wifi...
PS:The last sentence is sarcasm...
google talk

BBM uses an internet/data connection to acces BB's servers. You therefore need a data connection/plan to use BBM.
If you're looking for something similar, try the Ping/Pingchat app - it's cross platform (BB, iPhone, Droid) and works in a similar way to BBM (using Ping's own server network).
You'll still require a data connection (need not be wifi, or 3g for that matter) - so you ay even want to stick with something you already use on your computer (google chat, msn, skype etc via multi IMs like Nimbuzz, Fring...the later two can use Skypeout to make VOIP calls)
All apps need a data connection
WhatsApp is your best option. However, it's still in closed beta for Android. When it is released, you will be able to chat with iPhone, BB, Symbian, and Android users by just having their phone number in your phone book.
Google Talk!
Oh I see. I was under the impression that bb messenger works over cellular networks because it has its own network. Thanks for the clarification guys. Mehh blackberry step aside for android

I have a very annoying problem with my Nexus 4. I dont get notifications for Apps like Facebook, Facebook messenger or Kik Messenger (WhatsApp only works when screen is turned on, but thats not so bad because I always use my N4 ).
I used Greenify before uninstalled it today but I still dont get any notifications for facebook messenger Anybody know how to fix?
Thanks
robin
That is a known problem on some n4.. You have wi fi fix on this forum, but not 2g/3g.
Same here! heck, I can't even receive Viber calls while the screen is off on wifi.. gmail notifications would come late always at no specific time.
Tried Advanced Wifi Lock, works for the first ~15 mins then stops.....
Latest versions of CM kind of fixes, but the problem still persist; it's being said this is going to be fixed on the next OS update.
Hi everyone,
Is anyone experiencing problems with not getting notifications from facebook?
I can't see whether anyone has written unless I open the fb application.
Has anybody experienced such problems?

I don't use the facebook app on my phone, but I would download Light manager from the play store and use it instead. I had the same problem with the Y! Mail app and light manager helps. Try the facebook app setting and make sure notification is enabled.

I have experienced, not with Facebook, don't use out, but with G+.
I'm thinking out has less to do with the phone, although it's worst, but instead some Google update because my previous device did it too. Even with SMS.

It works fine here. Check and make sure the Notification is enabled in FB settings. Also I hope you're not using any TasK Manager that aggressively close FB.
Found it. The solution was obviouse, but it worked on Galaxy S4 which I switched to G2 from I thought it is a device problem.
The reason was multiple sessions opened in facebook. Which also means that you will not have fb apps properly working on two Android phones.
