Hi everyone one
I'm not sure this is the right section for my topic, if not I'm sorry and pls direct me.
So I got this phone from my brother whith a weid screen he has no idea how he got this problem, it had a charging issue that he already repaired after that this problem appeared
The phone screen looks a bit weird no scratches or visible damag. but the screen is blurry the contrast is a so hight that the colors are a bit off and are not seamless, and there is this stains as if the screen is brocken (see atached pictures), so far if I hide the upper bar the rest of the screen will looks normal as if there's no problem with it
Any Idea on how to fix this problem is the screen damaged ?
Thanks in advance
No fixing that I doubt, unless the cable for the screen is loose, in which case I still would not try to fix it yourself unless you're very patient and have steady hands.
To fix, you need screen replacement.
According to samsung technician at service center, the purple strain damage are caused by having the phone being press on or under high pressure such as putting the phone inside tight jean pocket or being sit on etc.

Thanks for the help guys, I opened the phone and checked there is nothing pushing the screen or any visible damage
**update**
Good new the screen went back to wotk notmaly 3 4 days after wotking intensly with the phone using an app called twilight, it helps remove the stains when activated blut it's a blue light filter
Now the phone work well without that app
Thanks

Hi guys, I need some help here. I literally threw my wizard out of the window shaking out my bedsheets and it dropped three stories into the backyard.
When I turned it on again (the drop had opened the battery case), at first the screen was bright white, then turned darker and darker showing some sort of noisy stripes (static, not moving). When it goes into standby and is turned on again from there it does the same thing.
some facts:
- there is no visible crack in the display (neither from the side, I disassembled it)
- all buttons and the touchscreen are still responding (u can see that because the background lighting responds to them)
- the wizard is still accessible via usb
- I don't know whether the phone still works because I can't enter the pin w/o display.
It seems strange to me that the display should stop working while the touchscreen and the background lighting remain unhurt. I am thinking about replacing the display (only available together w/ the touchscreen and bg-lighting), but I am afraid that it might rather be a problem with the communication between the main unit and the display, even though there was no visible damage there.
Does anybody have experiences with that kind of behavior of the display?
Is the display that vulnerable that it breaks before the rest (light, touchscreen)?
I didn't find any cases similar to mine in the forum. If there are and my questions would be answered there, please direct me there.
Thanks for the help

Try taking it apart, the force of inpact could have made a connection loose.
Disassembling I disconnected everything possible. Next thing would be to take apart the display/bglight/tscreen.
did you mean that? looks pretty fragile to me...
thx
yeah, I wouldnt mess with the display .. lol .. I meant a connection somewhere inside the device... like a loose ribbon or something
Yeah, seems hopeless. Guess I'll have to buy a new display and hope it works :-(
I'll post again once I got some results...
Problem solved
For the archive:
I exchanged the display and apparently only the screen was broken and the rest was unharmed.
I'd also like to add that two days ago (1 week after I repaired the thing) I dropped a plastic bottle on the phone in such a stupid angle that it broke the touchscreen. the next thing I will report here is whether it is possible to exchange the touchscreen only by doing some soldering.

Really need help here,
My hermes suddenly decided that visuals are no longer needed.
That means the screens stays off all the time (yes even in bootloader mode).
It works, receive calls and flashes roms but in no situation can I see anything on the screen (pitch black screen).
I've got no warranty so I took it apart and checked each cable and connector - no issues were seen. I tried changing SPL-s, RUU, Roms all worked but left my tytn with that black screen.
Did anyone see this happen or has any advice?
This sucks big time :-(
No one? Oh man, I guess it's dead then :-(
Last bump before giving up and throwing it away - please?
send it to me if your gonna throw it away : - 0
I've given up on mine as well. It has white screen though. Where do I dump this thing?
If it is out of warrenty, I would take it apart as is sounds like the hardware, check the connections to the LCD. Does the backlight still work, or if you put it in strong sunlight, can you see the LCD working?
My Hermes had a white screen also. I found that if I squeeze the bottom right hand corner whilst resetting it would sometimes work. It seems there is a chip on the switch board that needs the right ammount of pressure on it. I think it was a design flaw as the herm200 and 300 are different. If applying pressure works and you are confident enough take the hermes apart and put a couple of small pieces of plastic or paper between the front buttons and the small square chip on the switch board. This worked for me.
The service guide is available if you google. Let me know if you need more info.
As for the black screen that sounds more serious sorry not seen that one.
what are you guys willing to sell your pdas for? Mine fell in a puddle and i need one for parts. The white screen might be fixable the first couple of times but then it dies off for good, the black screen i've never heard of.
So if you want to sell for a reasonably cheap price let me know, i can buy a new keypad online for $50. So around there would be nice!

I just tested this on mine and actually got some results.
mines the opposite though, it will NOT work with any pressure. I left all the screws loose for that board under the buttons, and left the LCD assemble screws out on that end and it works, But if I press the keys it whites out again and won't come back until I repeat the dis-assemble/re-assemble
I had a similar problem but this was after someone dropped mine on the floor. The screen would just be white screen, while everything worked. If I pressed the bottom right of the phone it would sometimes come on and stay on for a little while but would eventually always go to white screen.
I did manage to use the phone but had use a program called Net Control which allowed me to control the phone over WIFI with the phone screen shown on the PC. Got the phone replaced in the end by the people who dropped it.
i got the flex cable and my phone still has the white screen problem....wtf///
Screen went white & buttons didn't work.. took to get phone fixed... and...now buttons work but the screen has a weird yellow tint
what is the problem, and how to fix
bump. anyone?
Can you say a bit more about it. How strong is this yellow tint. Can you upload a picture.
It's difficult to know if this is caused by a new screen that has a faint yellow tinge or whether it's a definite fault.
Mike
My phone started getting the white screen issue, the buttons stopped working.
When I'd turn the display on, it would be all white, id have to press it a few times then it would be ok, the buttons seized to function.
I took it to get fixed, the buttons now fully work, but the screen has a weird yellow tint all over. It didn't have it before. I was mad at the repair shop, the guy told me that its the LCD screen connector cable or whatever... but I don't believe him, as he doesn't seem to know wtf he is saying..
please help
Mine started doing this recently. Screen fades to white and nothing works but I can still hear if I'm on the phone. For me, turning it off and back on resolves the issue (I can see the display again). I suppose some aren't so lucky..
More than likely the LCD connector cable has a problem. Why he didn't fix it, I have no idea. If you feel up to taking it apart, you may be able to push the connector in further, OR you could buy a new screen. Then again...
Hi there
I have rebuilt many hermes with the same problems. I researched the issues on here and elsewhere - Its nearly always related to the entire Dpad/cable/connections . I have repaired nearly all of these quite simply by dismantling them and adjusting/cleaning and reassembling them - things move and get out of contact etc and this is what happens with these - get a torx driver and have a go - after a few tries you will usually solve the problem
Happy to assist anybody who would like a hand
Kind regards
John
Hello there,
I bought my Tattoo in January this year. It went to the service centre once already, because the touch screen did not work anymore. It came back with a new one.
Today it got broken again. The symptoms; it was getting more and more difficult to get a long press, for instance to move an icon or remove a widget from the desktop. After it stopped working, I could see a dot matrix on the screen, and when the screen is off, it looks like there is some oil, diffracting the light, a bit like a rainbow.
Am I the only unlucky Tattoo owner with this kind of recursive issue? Is the life span of a Tattoo digitizer only 4 months?
What about capacitive screens - are they less fragile?
Is there any particular Android phone with a good / strong build and quality reputation?
Cheers,
JPascal.
I have similar problems with the screen. It's hardly usable. I get those rainbow-like spots on the screen, there is a big white mark at the top of the screen that fortunately I can see through when screen is on. Also the screen sometimes thinks I've pressed in places where I haven't, so it's impossible to use until I reboot. There are many other problems, and the only reason why I don't send it back to get fixed is that they keep it for weeks, and I need it.
I live in Taiwan, Taipei, so HTC support / service is not bad here. They can come and pick my cellphone at my office, and I can hope to get it back 3 days after.
I'll ask them if it's a common problem, will update this thread later.
JPascal.

I had same problems with digitizer.. But I fixed it :] This can happen when the screen is pressed for a longtime in pocket or the phone is dropped. But I fixed it :]
I turned the phone off, removed mask and tried to lift up digitizer little bit on side where was rainbow-like spots. When they gone, I put digitizer down and press on the side that I lifted up. Now everithing works like a charm
Yeh I have one of the rainbow spots..too i wanna know how can it be removed....cause i cant get rid of it.
that oil spot or Newton ring can be easily fixed by removing top mask and inserting sharp object between LCD and digitizer couple millimeters and then pull the digitizer up so it detaches LCD and newton ring disapears, then while you removing sharp object, used to pull digitizer up, press with finger from center outwards to pump out air and place it back firmly .. I`ve successfully fixed two HTC tattoo`s and one HTC HD display with that technique ....

Hello, I change the screen to my Z and I have this problem.
I noticed the screen flicker when you touch or press the edges of the screen / phone. It's like if you increase the intensity of light.
The display properly reacts to the pressure of the fingers, sliding screen keyboard ...
What can happen? The screen? I open it?
The 2 Connectors of the screen with the board?
Thanks
are you using auto light? if yes try to disable it
I'm guessing it's an issue with the connections. Are you using too much pressure on the screen? I've never seen that happen on mine.

I think this is, I will dismantle it and see what happens.
Repair fail !!
Well I'm back to open the Z and I've broken the screen.
I get those lines and a black spot. 25 euros lost.
I hope it's only the screen and the digitizer.
this happened to me now i cant get anything but the lowest brightness
if you have the same as me its not the screen i think its the cable but i cant find a cheap replacement to test it plus i am thinking of going to the droid 4 if/when it gets its gsm update
Did you manage to fix the problem with your Desire Z screen, I had exactly the same problem after replacing the LCD. I took it apart and put it back together again & again but couldn't find what was causing it.
I think when you take the screen out the first time, you remove that clear glue stuff, and probably make it slightly loose. So what I did was take some of them sticky labels for printing. With a scalpel cut some very thin strips (about 2mm in width and almost the full length of each side), folded them into an L shape and stuck them aroud the 3 edges of the LCD, before sinking it into the housing and the problem is fixed.
Just in case I've not explained that very well, here is a really bad diagram.
