Need a repair - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If this is the wrong place to post this I apologize and please let me know where to post or kindly move the post.
Long and short no device protection plan at all. Looking for someone experienced from the community to replace the display. Looks like the glass isn't broken. It looks like the LCD/digitizer died. Phone fell (in case). Doesn't light up at all except for the flashlight but appears to turn on etc. power button is a bit mangle as well. If someone can give me an idea where to look or a ball park price I'd be grateful.
I've looked online and I do not have the skill to try this one myself.

Check this place out,https://www.replacebase.co.uk/ all oem parts and do most parts needed for the nexus 6p, i think its about 120 ish pound for a new lcd and miframe assembly.
hope that helps

Thanks for the tip. I'm not in the U.K. and I'm looking for someone who's done this kind of repair before. From what I've read and seen it's not an "easy" job.

Well, to start with you may get more helpful replies if you put your location and carrier in your profile, making them visible so people know where you're from rather than saying "thanks, but I'm not from the UK".

I meant no disrespect to anyone. I'm in the us (Pennsylvania). Phone was direct from Google/Huawei and was being used on att.
Thanks for suggesting I add that info. I didn't think about it.

It's cool.. none taken! There's no harm in putting your home town in your profile. There are a LOT of ppl on XDA and someone may know a good local repair shop in your immediate area. Best of luck.

Order the lcd and try the repair yourself, the hardest part is opening the thing, when mine broke, i ordered the lcd and a new housing which came with everything i needed, once it is opened the swapping of stuff over was the easy part, but as i was replacing the the lcd and housing, i didnt mind damaging the existing housing to get the thing apart, and when i was finished i had a brand new looking phone and only took around an hour or so to do it, youtube has some good videos on it. A new housing isnt expensive and you can learn a bit about your phone aswell. i made mine into a black and silver version. lol

Is it possible to replace the USB port on the bottom of a Titan/Mogul?

My plug broke, the little plastic piece that separates the pins finally gave out and not knowing I plugged in my USB cable and bent the pins. Now my phone doesnt work. It boots up but beyond getting to the Today screen is un-usable.
Can I open it up and just replace the port? (any tips on where to buy the part, I have the tools already Im sure and am willing to solder really really really small connectors. )
Or am I stuck buying a new phone?
Thanks in advance.
yes you are in luck, i am currently developing a program that will do exactly that and much more, just give me a few decades

Hey bud..
Sorry to hear that issue , as a Sprint Store & Repair Tech Mgr I would leave it to a tech to get workin on it.. If you want to you can sauder it and try to fix the pins but you run he risk of uniting circuitry when you put back together..which will completely kill your phone.. Suggestion: Repair Center or Insurance.. last option uprgade or purchase a new phone..
this is definitly and absolutly the wrong thread man. you are asking a hardware question of a specific phone on a software developers side ?!
so please accept the rules, because some people here have enought of junior posts like this. Read thread one ! although i wouln'd event post it there.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it!
Can you ball park the cost of such a repair? I dont mind paying, but if its close to the same cost of picking up a used phone on ebay (~200-250) I'd rather just get a new phone.
Thanks!

That is the part you are looking for right? The little USB female portion of the phone?
It's kinda expensive and risky, good luck with your repair, I hope this helps!

That is the part indeed, and you've just answered my lingering question! lol it would be cheaper for me to get a used one off ebay. If that part costs 50 bucks and a service tech would take at least 1 hour to fix it I'd be looking at a little less than just buying another. I appreciate all the help with this.

Stylus loose

Hi there, im new & loving this place & my tytn.
My stylus has just developed a loose problem so bad that it can easily fall out?
I see lots of solutions around for the wizard, is it not common with the hermes?
One solution was the paper in the holes near the battery but unlike the wizard, the hernes are filled. Apologies if this has been answered but all i really got with the search related to the wizard. I dont want to dismantle.
Thank you for any suggestions you may have.
Pete.

You only need remove the back cover. Be careful replacing the back cover to align the macro arm of the camera.

i allso dropped my hd2 yesterday . not badly damaged, but since is 16 bucks i will order anyway.
tnx alot men
im just angry appologies for profanities
Oh god, sorry for you man
Here I found a body not so expensive
P.S. I'm new so I can't post any outside links... Go to cnn.cn and look in the tabs HTC > HD2 and you'll directly find the body
Bloody expensive things haha, I hope you get it sorted.

I cracked my screen...i almost cried!!

well i didnt but my little girl did......just dropped it off the sofa and wham gone....had a rubber case on and screen protector but that just stopped the cracks from spreading to only half way up the screen.
no insurance = oh dear what to do...so ive just insured it through me bank and hope i can get it fixed...but i sure am going to miss it while its away
ohhh dear
feel sorry for you but seriously people insurance is a must.
I hope your bank doesnt make too much of a fuss about you insuring it then immediately claiming.
personally I dont use a screen protector, I had one on for a while but I just got fed up with the extra reflectiveness and the edges being a bit raidsed (it wasnt a particularly good quality one but I havent heard much better about the more expensive ones)
I use the leather case it came with but somehow whenever I drop it, it never seems to be in. So far no smashed glass yet though probably thanks to a carpetted house. But I do have insurance in the event that it does happen.
anyway good luck with your claim and i hope it doesnt take too long.
yeah i hope so 2....i got to wait 15 days before i can claim so just av to go back to my omnia for now.ill give it a few week before i stick a claim in!
i know my little 1 wont be playing with it again though thats for sure!
my friend who works at the shop sent me this picture.
a customer droped it on the tarmac...
sad...
sorry, double post
Given you will probably have to pay a £100 excess you might want to hunt around for a repair shop. I haven't used them but you could try Undercutter.co.uk repair and return for £85.
policy covers first £30 for excess so hopefully not to bad! if i could do it myself with the right parts i would but i aint no expert!
Hey folks ! You really think it is wise to discuss insurance-tweaks in length here ? As with facebook, companies do a thorough search in funny places, also fora.
Maybe ask the Admin to del this thread ? Just in case .............
I broke mine too, looked exactly the same as the one above, (guy who dropped it on the tarmac).
I rang up my bank waited about a week after I insured it and claimed and only paid 10 pounds
Its all good now. They actually replaced the handset and didn't bother repairing it.

Unlike facebook people dont use real names on xda and there is a lot more identifiable info on facebook than a forum, there is really no way a link could be made from a forum post to an insurance claim unless they posted a lot of personal info in said forum post.

yeah you can link info to people through forum posts... don't be silly
anyhow .. always better to be safe...
Anyone know if you can take out phone insurance from your bank in the U.S.?
Insurance fraud... Really classy.
Yeah, not the best thing, although I really need to take insurance as I've been risking it for four months so far...
For future, all I can recommend is a phone-wallet like this: I never like cases but at least this way, I feel it's serving a double purpose, and it's protected in all cases.
Personally I love it, and it was £4 off ebay.
Anyway, good luck to all

[Q] Temperature Shift Breaks Nexus 4?

Hello,
first of all I'm sorry If you have seen a thread like this before but I want to try and take a different approach.
I wanted to buy this phone but I read countless posts reporting they have hairline scratches without even dropping their phone.
There was even one or two that got them even though their phone was in a case!
Also:
http://www.droid-life.com/2012/11/2...-idea-since-the-last-phone-with-a-glass-back/
It kind of really seems to be an issue...
What I wanted to ask did anyone try to deliberately reproduce this? Or can anyone prove that this really happens?
I mean if the phone breaks with regular use without even dropping it it would be one hell of a dealbreaker...
Any rich guy/reviewer wants to run a few benchmarks/games and put it on a cold surface in a room and see what happens?
And please refrain from comparing to iPhone 4/4s I think people have seen enough droptests it would be really interesting to see if this actually happens or not...
1. why would someone try to reproduce it until it's a demo unit given to them by Google which I guess will be a rarity considering they are on back order
2. it happened to my friend and as of now he is waiting for the replacements back to arrive on fleebay
3. you posted in the wrong section

Wow simple to the point. I like it
it wouldnt be a temperature shift from cold to hot, it would be from getting too hot and expanding when the glass was put in too tightly
I hit my Nexus 4 with a hammer and the screen broke. LG better fix it as this is a defect.

Sorry I don't post very often so I'm not so familiar to the sections, if a moderator reads it please move it.
As to your questions maybe you didn't read my post or are simply uninformed. There were already enough Droptests, there are already people who have a defect phone some of them deemed unreparable. Also a lot of people got a review units. Heck there is even a guy on youtube who buys devices with his own money and breaks them in durability tests. If you question why people would do it don't ask me but I reckon someone who would do a droptest or whack their phone with a sledgehammer might be willing to try this.
Sorry for being so dumb to think people who deliberately destroy a phone would maybe be willing to deliberatly get a hairline crack.
Long story short there are plenty of people who could try it out.
meh nvm why are ppl always so offensive...

drop tests are easy to do, recreating something like this won't be easy at all dude and not sure if someone on xda will risk his device like that as the replacement backs are not yet available anywhere. also there is enough proof already that this happens and has happened to a lot of peoplel. so it happens but no one knows why.
