Stylus loose - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hi there, im new & loving this place & my tytn.
My stylus has just developed a loose problem so bad that it can easily fall out?
I see lots of solutions around for the wizard, is it not common with the hermes?
One solution was the paper in the holes near the battery but unlike the wizard, the hernes are filled. Apologies if this has been answered but all i really got with the search related to the wizard. I dont want to dismantle.
Thank you for any suggestions you may have.
Pete.

You only need remove the back cover. Be careful replacing the back cover to align the macro arm of the camera.

Taking apart a Magician

Can someone tell me how to take apart (or point me to a site that does) the Magician? I've got a buddy who anodizes paintball guns, and I thought it would be kinda cool to have the aluminum housing of my magician anodized... but I can't figure out how to get it open. I undid the two screws, but that didn't seem to loosen anything, and I'm afraid to use too much force prying on things (for obvious reasons :? ). Any help would be appreciated.
Here you are
and here is a topic on that subject http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=16288&highlight=disassembly
Very helpful. Thanks!

Disassemble XDA mini S

Hi all. I remember some details on here about how to repair the stylus issue by taking the handsset apart. Can anyone find the thread? I'm hopeless at searching the forum.
I need to fix the stylus and also the headphone socket, so some guidance would be great.
-Mike
I don't know if this will help but this thread speaks on taking it apart...

He's right, I remember seeing a really good post with pics showing exactly how to fix it. Was a couple of months back that I saw it, and it may have been a link to another site, I cannot remember, but I am buggered if I can find it now!!!
Oh dear. This is not how I pictured the component to look at all.
At least I saw it in the manual before taking it apart myself and voiding warranty. Thanks guys.
I'd better try and get it done under warranty but its doubtful

Wobbly Hermes 200

Hi
First i would say that my english is not so good
But the problem i have is that my hermes/tytn is wery loose in the slide mekanism.
Is there a way to get it tighter?
Any help would be nice!
Thank's
If you get a bit of thick sticky tape and put it over the groves. Slice it down the middle of each grove and that should help keep it a bit tighter.
There is a tutorial here somewhere.
aha, almost like the Nokia N95 fix then
Thank's for fast reply!

There is only one way to truly fix this problem and that is to correct the defect in the sliders/runners:
http://michael-channon.spaces.live.com/?_c11_BlogPart_BlogPart=blogview&_c=BlogPart&partqs=cat%3dHermes%2bFixes
This has been discussed here in other threads and the above fix has been done with reported success (including me) and is also contained in the Hermes wiki.
Here's one of the threads:

NB: Does require dismantling and is warranty voiding.

Is it possible to replace the USB port on the bottom of a Titan/Mogul?

My plug broke, the little plastic piece that separates the pins finally gave out and not knowing I plugged in my USB cable and bent the pins. Now my phone doesnt work. It boots up but beyond getting to the Today screen is un-usable.
Can I open it up and just replace the port? (any tips on where to buy the part, I have the tools already Im sure and am willing to solder really really really small connectors. )
Or am I stuck buying a new phone?
Thanks in advance.
yes you are in luck, i am currently developing a program that will do exactly that and much more, just give me a few decades

Hey bud..
Sorry to hear that issue , as a Sprint Store & Repair Tech Mgr I would leave it to a tech to get workin on it.. If you want to you can sauder it and try to fix the pins but you run he risk of uniting circuitry when you put back together..which will completely kill your phone.. Suggestion: Repair Center or Insurance.. last option uprgade or purchase a new phone..
this is definitly and absolutly the wrong thread man. you are asking a hardware question of a specific phone on a software developers side ?!
so please accept the rules, because some people here have enought of junior posts like this. Read thread one ! although i wouln'd event post it there.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it!
Can you ball park the cost of such a repair? I dont mind paying, but if its close to the same cost of picking up a used phone on ebay (~200-250) I'd rather just get a new phone.
Thanks!

That is the part you are looking for right? The little USB female portion of the phone?
It's kinda expensive and risky, good luck with your repair, I hope this helps!

That is the part indeed, and you've just answered my lingering question! lol it would be cheaper for me to get a used one off ebay. If that part costs 50 bucks and a service tech would take at least 1 hour to fix it I'd be looking at a little less than just buying another. I appreciate all the help with this.

Need a repair

If this is the wrong place to post this I apologize and please let me know where to post or kindly move the post.
Long and short no device protection plan at all. Looking for someone experienced from the community to replace the display. Looks like the glass isn't broken. It looks like the LCD/digitizer died. Phone fell (in case). Doesn't light up at all except for the flashlight but appears to turn on etc. power button is a bit mangle as well. If someone can give me an idea where to look or a ball park price I'd be grateful.
I've looked online and I do not have the skill to try this one myself.

Thanks for the tip. I'm not in the U.K. and I'm looking for someone who's done this kind of repair before. From what I've read and seen it's not an "easy" job.

Well, to start with you may get more helpful replies if you put your location and carrier in your profile, making them visible so people know where you're from rather than saying "thanks, but I'm not from the UK".
I meant no disrespect to anyone. I'm in the us (Pennsylvania). Phone was direct from Google/Huawei and was being used on att.
Thanks for suggesting I add that info. I didn't think about it.

It's cool.. none taken! There's no harm in putting your home town in your profile. There are a LOT of ppl on XDA and someone may know a good local repair shop in your immediate area. Best of luck.
Order the lcd and try the repair yourself, the hardest part is opening the thing, when mine broke, i ordered the lcd and a new housing which came with everything i needed, once it is opened the swapping of stuff over was the easy part, but as i was replacing the the lcd and housing, i didnt mind damaging the existing housing to get the thing apart, and when i was finished i had a brand new looking phone and only took around an hour or so to do it, youtube has some good videos on it. A new housing isnt expensive and you can learn a bit about your phone aswell. i made mine into a black and silver version. lol
