If you leave ur wirless tethering on while charging, your battery will charge up to 100% and stay 100 even if you take off the charger.
I hope nobody posted this method already
Nice! Ill test that later today

charging it to 100% will shorten the battery's life.
I know but there were many threads about battery not charging up to 100% so I just decided to help a little)

Charging to 100% will not shorten the battery life if any Lithium Ion or lipo battery, but if you discharge past 5% will kill the battery faster. This I know from using the lipo battery's on my big RC Helicopters and that the ESC's have a low voltage cutoff on them to keep from doing damage to the battery. All lipo batterys are built the same so before someone says it is not the same, YES it is!!!

Already posted, and already shown that it doesn't work...battery still only charges to 96-97%
And there is an issue with the firmware in the Nexus S that prevents it from fully charging to 100% (incorrect voltage cutoff level?). This is NOT a deliberate way to "save" battery life.
Charging to 100% does NOT harm the battery or shorten its life in any way. Li-Ion batteries work best and have a longer total battery life when topped up to 100% regularly.
Thanks for playing today...

hopefully an OTA will fix these issues.
Does anybody have access to a Moment,Instinct HD, Behold II? Charge your Nexus S to 95% and then put battery in one of these phones and see what battery reading you get.

Doesn't work...sorry.
i believe i heard 2.3.5 will fix this and many other issues we are having.
Another way to fully charge your Nexus S is by switching it off and plug-in it to a wall charger until it finish charging (you will notice that by means of the white battery icon that will show up if you press -just a single touch, do not keep pressing- the power button). Every time I charge my Nexus S this way I get a full 100% battery charge.

ive done this and i never reach 100%. the highest i have gone is 98%.
This is curious. I usually pick my phone in the morning and read some tweets and news before I get up, while the phone is still connected to the charger. When I 1st take it it has about 96-97% but after I use the phone for some time it goes up to 98 or 99%, but never got 100%.
does that 5% really make that much of a difference? maybe it helps the battery to not go to 100%, maybe it doesn't...
but are you really using the battery down to 5% before charging it where it makes that huge of a difference?

guys is better to charge the phone before it is <5% or not?
if you leave the screen on while charging, you can charge it to 100%, i do it a few times a week. as soon as the screen goes off over 95%, it will stop charging, at that point just unplug it, then plug it back in and leave the screen on. itll get to 100%. have patience, itll just takes some time.
For example i am now using samsung s3 usb to microusb charge cable because i lost the original one and the one bought from ebay. Now i will buy that

Does it matter for usb cable and wall charger? Does this can damage phone?

It doesn't matter. It would only affect the rate at which your phone gets charged.
It wouldn't spoil it.

Delete stats, charge it up to 100% and then let it discharge completely until it gets switched off and then once again charge it up to 100% in one go.

I cant delete it be cause with esexplorer i cant find it.
I use batrterycalibration app and it deletes itself.
I put battery and waited until %0. then again turn on to see and again it turned off. Then i charged until %100 while it was turned off (in turn off mode , i cant see if its battery is full). Then i opened and used. It went about 10 hours. It was good . but when i increase display brightness, it started to went quickly.

If the output plug is the same as the phone (we don't see it on your pick) no problem it will charge BUT at very low rate because rated output is ONLY 500 mA max. So be patient or charge at night and have your full sleep.

For sure it is much better; but sometime it is needed to have a second charging position and why not? Just to keep in mind the potential drawback.

YES, As per my first answer. Charging time will be 4 times longer but it will end 100%. about the same if you charge from a computer USB plug.

I Test many roms and problems is here yet.
My Nexus 4 is charging at an extremely slow rate. It takes me 3-4 and some time 5-6 hours to charge from 10 to 100%.
I test other chargers and even test its original charger with another phone. Its original wall charger is ok.
Can it be a hardware issue or its resulted by battery calibration?
(sorry for bad english)

try doing an entire system wipe before flashing another rom..
if u have already done that, then try to check the voltage across your battery..
if it is not gaining voltage at a sufficient range,u will need to replace it
(if u dont trust softwares for monitoring battery voltages, then i suggest u dissemble ur phone n check voltage manually for peace of mind)
hit thanks if this helps u

This has really been bothering me.. The phone when plugged in takes HOURS to charge suddenly.. i'm using OEM charger and cable for the device and its only charging at 10-200mA, "Ampere" shows it in USB charger instead of AC charger when plugged into the power brick, If i unplug and plug in multiple times(into the power brick) it detects AC charger but doesn't charge past 200mA... I tried a different cable and brick but its the same issue.. If i unplug and plug in again it detects as AC again but still SLOW charge.. And plugging into a powerbank, It never gains any % just stays at the same HELP....

The port looks new basically, i will try cleaning again to be sure.. And i unfortunately dont have another v20 battery to test, But i tried a g4's battery and it did the same thing So i don't know if its the battery or what.. the battery was completely drained for a bout a week due to a dead LCD had to order a new one.. But that shouldn't make it slow charge should it?..

Not that I'm aware of it shouldn't. Are you using an extension cable perhaps? Maybe it has a short if so.

Nope, Just direct cable into the brick, no extensions.. I cleaned the port again and its fluctuating from 30mA to 1800mA, But the battery is draining while plugged in and the phone is still detecting USB mode..

Yes, they look normal, The positive terminal on the phone is pushed in a little further than the others, But it was like that when i got the phone and it just recently started this problem
My note 3 acted up with the battery like that and a new one solved it. Can't guarantee that it is the reason, but most likely.

I would try new battery, factory reset is last option for your situation. I think you literally need s V20 one though.
I agree with Mysticblaze347. If the USB port and the battery contacts are clean, and you already checked different wall chargers and cables, then something's most likely wrong with the battery. You might as well consider getting one of the newer Lithium polymer batteries such as the ones from Perfine, Shenmz/AexPower, Taeozi, or Maxxxjuice. They are the same size as the OEM battery but actually have a higher capacity.

Well, i found a temporary solution.. Threw the battery in the freezer, My old phone needed that sometimes when the battery drained too fast, It unfortunately didn't solve the issue.. BUT I put the entire phone in the freezer ON for about 30 mins and it was fast charging again and getting 1800mA for two days straight.. Today the same issue has happened again.

Hopefully its just the battery.. Would suck if this phone was bad.. Had it for about a year now and its got a lot of data i can't save, The phone doesn't allow any data transfer over USB But it charged fine with that issue

Regarding data transfer, you could use any of the WiFi file transfer / FTP apps (I use Send Anywhere, for example) to copy files to other devices/computers if it comes to that.

Sorry to hear that. Seems like your phone has some hardware issue where the charge doesn't fully flow from the USB port to the battery.

It's certainly possible. But if cleaning the USB port doesn't solve your problem, then it may not be an easy fix because I heard that the port is soldered onto the board.
