Anyone try and test the new firmware: DQEF (with May security patch)?
Wonder any differences bring it in S7E like the battery drain, system and camera performance... and also for the bugs in Nougat.
My S7E is from France (XEF)
Using DQEF since about two weeks but don't notice much of a difference compared to DQD.
I hope to have battery life like the old Android 6 (APC, APD firmwares). If nothing changes, no neeed to uptade it.
Thanks for reply.

For me N is better than MM regarding battery life... however, I do not see any alternative to an upgrade as APD has security patch of April, 2016.
This update made my s7 edge go totally downhill. The phone couldnt last me even 21 hours and required charging it. The only improvement i got was the phone became very snappy. Reverted back to DQAF. How is it holding up for you?

Battery Life is Horrible After Updating to Lollipop, Its been only 4 hours and I went from 100% to 34%. Seriously, did T-Mobile upload the wrong update or are they expecting us to "upgrade" to an S6 / S6 Edge? I'm about hop on ODIN to revert back.
Seriously, :crying:
Battery life much improved, here.
^^^ Are you referring to the T-Mobile Note 4 or International?
Either I downgrade and wait for the next update which might take as little as two weeks to up to another 6 months, or I pay developers to get this sorted out, haha.

Never judge battery life after an OS update. You just flashed 15000 files or so. Come back in 4 days then we'll see what battery life really is. There's a lot going on under the hood after writing over 1 Gig of Code.

I cant say the same, battery looks just fine to me even that have passed only 24h from update. And was on full brightness 70% of the time On, and not to mention 1h30mins zynga poker.
If you're rooted, even after the update, you may need to get SE to Permissive. I did that previously when I had bad battery life on a stock (but Canadian) ROM and suddenly, magic.

It's odd that some say it's better and some say it's worse. For me battery life has gone down, not a huge amount, but a noticeable decrease. I'm all stock, not rooted.
Amazing despite all the warnings from the actual AOSP 5.01...all the warnings from sprint, verizon, and ATT users...we are STILL acting like this is some huge surprise and blaming Tmobile...
Never able to achieve 4 hrs sot

Our predictions came to life. Endless bug threads. Most of which are user error. And only one day or even a few hours of use. Sigh. O well
I tried Canadian port and my battery life was way better than KitKat. So far TMo Lolli seems just as good. I am very happy with Lollipop battery life.
38 hours of battery
Mine seems to be working incredibly well, even better than it was on Firekat. I have had it on for 10 hours and it says I still have 1 day 3 hours left.
Steps I took
Updated
Factory Reset
Set up as new device
Formated SD
Rooted and installed TWRP
Setup Greenify
Success
I had terrible battery life when I updated my Note 3 to Lollipop. Tried every trick listed on the Internet. Finally did a factory reset and everything was perfect. Did that from the get-go with my Note 4 and battery life after Lollipop is great. I don't know why the OTA update seems to cause battery problems, but a factory reset was the answer for me, at least on the Note 3. It would be interesting to see how many of those with problems did an update without a reset.
I haven't seen any threads on this, and even did a Google search for ANYTHING on the Internet with the corresponding firmware, however att pushed an update Ota to my device today with the n915aucu2boc7 firmware. Has anyone else received this, it was 202mb, and it's STILL 5.0.1
Just letting people know it's available at least in the Charlotte area.
@jjohn9 share screenshot pls..
Just a small update.
This software update includes
Find My Mobile and Reactivation Lock enhancements
Android OS security enhancements
http://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=KB426661&cv=820
i just checked updates on my atnt edge and its updating atm.
202mb download also.
Mine came through shortly after getting to work this morning. Just like the op, I too couldn't find any info on what it was. No noticeable difference per se. Screen transitions and the notification panel was a little buggy at first (nova launcher) but a battery pull seems to have fixed that.
I will say this though it definitely didn't fix the "heating" problem. I left mine open back and battery out for a few mins to let the device cool down.
Ok in my experience so far the batyery drain issue we have all been having and are all to familiar with was drastically improved on this version. You will notice your battery drain curve in your setting menu to be much much much more "smoothed" out rather than being a sharp straight down line like it used to be. I'm very thankful for that at least because this phone up until now should have had much better battery life. However I have noticed that is ahouldll well now!
So in conclusion I've had this update since yesterday morning at around 5 a.m. and it is a great improvement in lag, and power consumption.
Question is can it be rolled back to KK?
Especially how the force updates on you...never before had I seen where an update goes through without you accepting till this Note Edge
I updated and didnt see any improvements. Wonder if there ever will be an 'edge' store in the galaxy apps. Been like what 9 months and its still 'comming soon'. Ughh i feel like this device will be left in the dark
Thinking that this update is security responses to the new Android Hack?
I got it yesterday afternoon (Sunday)
So I just got the update notification on my 4G Tab S2 region code XID (Indonesia). F/W is on SamMobile as well, and would have installed it if my battery wasn't running low. Will report back soon!
so far it is exactly what I expected - GS7 software on a tablet. Great battery and none of the performance issues the first gen Tab S had when first receiving Lollipop.

Actually, battery life became worse on this update. I lose 1% of battery life in under 3 minutes without doing anything, my tab was just idle in the home screen.

I've noticed the battery drain too. It's not way worse, but it is slightly quicker at getting rid of charge. Has anyone noticed any other genuine changes? Apart from the lighter colour to the drop-down menu it seems basically identical.

Battery definitely drains faster in this update. It would take me 7-10mins for me to lose 1% of battery life in Lollipop. But now it would take me 3-5mins to lose 1% of battery life. I'm considering right now to go back to Lollipop to be honest, I can't stand this battery performance.
Other changes I've seen was the boot, it uses the S7 boot animation and there wasn't a boot startup sound.
Are many still waiting for the update?
Is everyone experiencing the rapid batter drain.
No update here.

Charging time estimate seems to be gone from notif dropdown (no charging notif at all) and lock screen (just says charging, no more x hours x minutes until full)
Marshmallow works fine. The battery issues were and will always be there for first few days till the firmware settles in.
One problem i faced was not audio output on one of my bose earphones. I still get the output on an older pair. The new ones work fine with every other device including a note 5. Just not this tab. Any suggestions to make it work ?
Are there many of you still without MM?
More than a week and still nothing.
Is it simple to install from Sam Mobile?
Getting frustrated with Samsung.

Hopefully the battery issues are just temporary just like what you said, I am getting tired of this battery drain. This never existed in Lollipop.
About your earphones, maybe the Tab doesn't recognize it?
I guess I'll wait. Lollipop is not so bad....

Not to my knowledge. Dont have a microSD in my tab to test.
Still waiting
I upgraded from nexus 7 to the T715Y galaxy tab s2 8". Solid device, battery performance less than optimal, software updates non existant. The nexus still gets monthly security patching and got the android 6 OTA update in short order. Now 18 July and despite indonesia, panama, phillipines and other neighbours in asia having this update, still no word from Samsung. Tried Kies, side sync and OTA update button mashing... nothing.
In fact Kies said there was an update, which i installed, wiping my tablet to get .. you guessed it, the same darn version i had. 5.0.2. Would recommend the tablet if not for the lack of security and software updates.
Still waiting in Australia
Edit: finally got it about a week ago
Guys, while going through few battery life related threads, I found that APC8 firmware which was released in March 2016 works best on S7 Edge Exynos. I am currently on Nougat. I have following questions :
1) Can I downgrade from Nougat to APC8? What about Knox?
2) What are the major features I am going to loose if compared with last release of MM..?

There's nothing special about APC8. You can ODIN to APC8 yes. You'll lose all features introduced post APC8.
If APC8 was somehow better, you'd see ROMs based on that firmware. Don’t waste your time imho. Cheers

I stick with that firmware since release of the device and loved battery life.
I recently upgraded to nougat and after debloating I get just as good battery life.
So I wouldn't waste your time IMO.
I get about 5-6 hours sot gaming on wifi with ACP8 stock, doesn't seem to stand out compared to others and I'm on exynos
Ironically when I first got Note 7 I was able to game for 9 hours straight with snapdragon so I'll never understand how any of this **** works
Thanks guys for the reply. I found that latest BTU nougat release (DQB3) is giving good standby time.. Didn't check SOT yet as I am not charging my battery upto 100%.. Max is 80%. All firmwares prior to this had deep sleep issues. I will check for few more days..
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
On latest Nougat
4g all day - 20 hours standby - 4 hours SOT
APC8
4g all day - 32 hour standby - 6 hours SOT
APC8 wins
Do you guys know any good APC8 roms from the past? Hard to find anything after all this time.
I am back to APC8 build after long time. I can easily get 5 to 6 Hours SOT with this. It was only 3 to 4 hours SOT with same usage in recent Nougat build for my region (XSG).
Will continue with APC8 until Oreo release.
Hi,
I have been using this phone for a year now. I really feel we got more preformance after oreo. The phone is pretty smooth after all the hassle. I do think we lost a bit screen on time with the os update. I feel that is many times the price of getting more speed. Anyway i tried for a while my G4 rooted + optimized. My conclusion is that optimized + sabs and non rooted s7 edge is really fast phone. I see no lag. I feel this phone has a year left in it and thats actually impressive knowing its 2,5 years old.
I tried Oreo without factory reset. My experience was that some of the apps did not function well. So i did the factory reset and all works now. I think its only smart move after os update. Now i will just clear system cache after minor fixes.
The last as good deal was lg g2 to me. Love your phone still its in the competition with never phones. After year i bet we see improvements that will make many of us consider changing to a next generation of phones.
Btw. Did anyone else get the stability update after oreo? What do you guys think of it? My feel is that now almost 100% is working and smooth as a butter.

I have moved back to nougat and stayed there for now, i did not mind the cell drain as it still lasted me all day, however i had random reboots as soon as i moved to official Oreo or even custom rom with 8.0 base, did not matter what i did the reboots would get worse over time. I moved back to nougat and not one reboot experienced, Oreo for me is good when it worked and would love to use it but drove me crackers when rebooting. SM-G935F

This is actually intresting. My phone did random screen freeze and couple of reboots in nougat, but on Oreo that is not happening to me.
But i do definetly have the cell drain still after the last update. I kind of woke up by the fact that i have lost about 1h screen on time. Yes i am a heavy user so thats the first que for something is eating the battery.
What kind of cycle your battery lasts average and how is your SOT on nougat? My is average 27hours on time hours and sot 5-6 hours

I am unable to advise you on SOT as i don't monitor this, i am running a custom rom with nougat base (Sac23 S8 port) i have a battery life of between 29 and 32 hours, never really goes past 40% remaining at the end of the day.
