Hi all in XDA land
I recently bought this stunning phone and I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
On my travels through Google I have noticed many like mine are advertised as Dual SIM models, whereas mine is a single SIM Vodafone model.
My question to the community is this, is it possible to convert the phone to a dual SIM and what would I need to do to make the second SIM work?
I have inspected the second SIM slot and it appears that the hardware to read the SIM is present physically, so it seems that it's more of a software/firmware related thing.
Thanks in advance.

nice joke dude, the j5 prime has the same design in all his variants single or dual sim, the single sim has the slot but is not funcional in hardware or software.

Serious question. I am not very familiar with how the OEMs put hardware together so I was hoping somebody else more knowledgeable could shed more light on the subject.
If say the second SIM card slot is functional, how would one get it to work?

That's awesome, but Chimera is paid software. I have previously looked into it and it costs $200. It's enough that I could go buy a new dual SIM phone and have change.
It defeats the purpose of adjusting the old phone to suit new functionality and extending usefulness.

Fair comment. I hadn't pursued it because the video was too fast/not clear.
Didn't know it was expensive software.

So you stole the DEMO version of the phone and trying to use it like a normal one?

Yes dude, i stole it. It was sent to me by samsung at a price of 0.01€ to put in the front of my mobiles shop. I was asking purely on a developing angle.
No.... you will need sammy to install what they need to.
Why would they let demonunits be so cheao and give the opp to easily make them work . Ppl would get them left right and cente like you and start using them as real units. And potentially selling on for profits.
You dont need a working model to dev for im sure....

I have not seen much about this phone. It's a cheap ( no exact price yet) small sized phone to test out tmobile's lte if you want to think about switching away from big V like me.

1.4ghz Quad core with 1GB system memory and 8GB internal storage. It also has an 1800 mah battery and microsd.

Just noticed, among the features listed on hsn.com is something called "secure boot." Why does that sound like something I don't want? And they mention it as if it's a good thing.

Now $149. I'd grab it if I could root it. Zero development on this device and this is the only thread even discussing it. Shame but not surprising. You're almost better off to get an old phone that has plenty of options than a new one with none.
Sounds very interesting. I hope it will be released in Europe soon too.
I've read that that it reaches an antutu score around ~17000+. First an only 4'' phone with a quad core at the moment.!
But, does anybody know if it has a light sensor to adjust the brightness automatically?
Lol some guy wanted to trade me the Light for my One S...
Seeing that its pretty...new and no dev'ment yet, its a no.
Thats the same exact reason I got rid of my ol Boost Mobile LG Venice.
Besides, I'm not a fan of mediocre carrier service.
It sounds appealing though, i mean 1gb ram tied in with quad core, clocked at 1.4GHz not bad.
But its using TFT screen technology sized at 4 inches, a 5mp cam and a 0.3mp front. What sort of odd combo is that?
At least they should have given it an AMOLED then maybe the miniature screen would make some sense.
If you ask me, its like a merged Galaxy Prevail and a Galaxy S. Good for those who want something cheap yet preformance
worthy (I guess) but for a quad core device, ratings for it on many review sites are depressingly low. Hey at least it
has NFC, but still all that preformance on a TFT screen will make playing games feel like your on an older device.
I think the screen alone was a let down for me.
It does not make my list, nor capture my attention. My guess is, NAY.
I just got this phone. Any clue how to root it? I don't want to brick it following the s4 method.
Does anyone know how to network unlock this phone?
I just got this phone before leaving on vacations and can't seem to find a way to network unlock it so that I can use it outside the U.S.
I have tried all popular unlocking methods for S3's and S4's but none seems to work.
There is another thread about rooting this phone, but noone has figured out how to do it, just yet. I guess the new kernel is causing some issues. Anyway, the other thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2539232 I will be picking this phone up as soon as I am able. The small size and the quad core and the speed is also what I have read. As I am not a gamer, the screen is fine. LTE and NFC are features I would use. It's like Samsung figured out that if a user isn't gaming, a big high-end screen isn't as important as speed of connectivity. The gamers have the S4. The rest of us get the Light.

There is one. Stock, but debloated and optimized. I have not tried it myself yet, as I don't have a 2nd phone in case things go awry, But it looks very promising.

He also said he's going to attempt a Cyanogenmod 11 port. And if you excuse the archaic vernacular, that would be the bees' knees.
FYI, you can get the Galaxy Light brand new from T-Mobile for $100 right now.

Mine is rooted stock and I agree, Lightwave looks nice. The price at t-mobile just came down and I suspect Samsung will be ending the Light and releasing something of lower quality. You can't beat 4 bucks a month. Snap it up while you can.

So I was going to try the LightWave ROM but I have some concerns... Is this going to lock my SIM out, and keep me from accessing my network? Because,I also do not have a second phone to goof off with this one, and if I brick (or worse, get locked out of the data network)I'm screwed. So does anyone know if this locks out T-Mobile's network? Thanks in advance!
On an irrelevant side note, if anyone is using a stock (w/root) ROM and are tired of TouchWiz, I actually figured out how to dump it! There is an app in the Google Play store called "System app remover (ROOT)" and all i did was looked for touchwiz in the app and deleted it. Sorry for rambling.

I can't guarantee you won't brick your phone. Nobody can guarantee anything when you start flashing things. Once you have TWRP though, it's really hard to screw things up irreparably.

Just wanted to say that Samsung Pay is amazing. Tried it twice today, once at Planet Fitness and another at Food 4 Less. Both times worked without any problems. Hopefully they get more banks on hand because currently only Chase works for me.

I haven't tried it yet, but don't be upset about not too many banks... Android Pay won't accept Chase cause of the chip. So I'm using either or depending on what card I want to use.
I am pretty excited to try it out and make someone eat crow when they tell me they don't have "that kind of pay terminal." lol

I tried Samsung Pay with my S7 flat twice today. Both times it failed. At the gas pump it didn't even register the card reader at all, and inside all I got was card read error several times.... and the cashier got an attitude with me and kept telling me to swipe my card. So far, I'm not impressed.
When I rooted my Note I regretted it since I lost Samsung Pay. I did have a couple times where it wouldn't read but it did work most of the time

Pump was an insert. I went inside. Swipe machine didn't work. Cashier topped it off by his snooty attitude.

Just so you all know. It works on generic card swipe machines also. I've used it in my local swapmeet, with there 5-7 year old machines. (Idk how old but they are)
I think it passes electromagnetic info since the old ones use magnets to swipe cards

So here is the AXON Sim Tray.
View attachment 3792627
It looks like it is either SD Card or Sim Card and not both at the same time with the way the slot works. (People who have it can confirm whether or not it's true.) But I have a theory of how to get both at the same time.
View attachment 3792628
With the above photo, you can see that I took the sim card out of they plastic using a hair dryer, some scissors to cut the edges off, & a knife to separate it from the plastic.
View attachment 3792629
We can then take the card & attach it to the back of the SD card. Theoretically it should be able to read all 3 cards at the same time. The pins are clearly visible for the SD Card and both sim cards when in the slot. I'm in the US so I won't be able to test my theory out until it launches here, if someone wants to try it and report back that would be awesome! I'll end up getting this phone regardless, but if this works it'd just be icing on the cake!
Edit: Thanks to 'jkuczera' we have a couple videos for you to see it.
We have confirmation that the mod works for the Axon 7 guys! 2 Sim cards & an SD card!

Wow, nice idea! I thought about opening the phone and see if there's room inside to move the contacts for the second SIM card to a different place, maybe with flat cables, but in this case, the second SIM wouldn't be replaceable on the fly.
How thick is the disassembled SIM card? Is the chip flat enough to minimize the pressure on both cards? I think about if we have to worry about both SIM and SD card getting damaged.
hmm...damn didn't know about that Slot when i preorderet one...
But this hack is awesome as hell! i think i gonna do it when i got the phone and some reports, that this truly will work.
I'd be worried about this getting stuck in the phone if I tried it

I thought about using double sided tape but it would really need to be thin. The great thing about the hot glue is it can be removed cleanly and won't stick to the inside of the phone.
I haven't had any problems yet and I anticipate the phone would be in pretty bad shape if it received the force required to dislodge the SIM card.

it plays a role but this just makes the problem show up earlier. very slim chances if you get a 601 onwards.
It's 'dead' because of bootloader obviously. Bootloop causes people to go away from this phone, but we would have something left after them. We don't even have a proper G5 Port while G3 is rocking it for a year... More of that, we can have Nougat UX 6.0 port 'easily' but it requires experts to work on that. 2015 was a hard year for smartphones. Every of major phones was a flaw. G4 bootloop, S6 RAM battery camera, HTC M9 was bad at everytbing, Sony? It's just Sony who buys it. Till nexus 6p(which also loops?????) there wasn't a good phone in 2015. 2016 is much better. We got Galaxy S6 2.0(or did they call it S7 afterwards to increase sales? jk), we had HTC comeback in style, LG failed once again, OnePlus released their best phone. Compare those two years... 2015 is at loss

No, actually it's an F500S, oddly enough. Because I live in Las Vegas and we have tourists from all over the planet here constantly there's always a chance that when I buy a device from someone on craigslist it's either a lost one that some tourist left behind in a cab or at a bar or something or somebody flat out stole it from them and the risk is that it'll be blacklisted. This one I just bought for $35 is working, in good condition but with some cosmetic issues on the frame, the front glass it pristine without a mark on it thankfully. It was apparently sold by SK Telecom so it's the Korean model (I think, I literally just got home and sat down as I'm typing this).
I have no idea what it's capable of but it does have a PIN code lock on it. I put my T-Mobile SIM card in it and it connected fast so I know it'll work but I've got to do some research on either bypassing the PIN code lock or just doing a clean flash of the factory ROM (if I can track that down) and going from there. It could always have the Google FRP on it so I'd have to figure out how to get around that as well (there's always a way it seems, sometimes it's just a pain in the ass to do it but it can be done).
So, at the moment it works, no guarantees if it'll suffer from the bootloop, of course, but the serial number is 505KPMZxxxxxx and the date code on the battery is 2015.04.28 so it literally is a 1st production run model.
I know it could die at any moment, sadly, but I'll see what happens. I don't play games on smartphones so really the only time a smartphone ever gets warm because of CPU usage in my experience is running a benchmark like Antutu (which I'm just not going to do with this G4, I know how it performs already) or installing a ROM/the initial first boot which churns along like crap by design.
Wish me luck...

my stock oem its getting weak. i used accubattery and out of 3000mah it charges 1880mah.
still have another trend on 3000mah that last like stock.. i use fecebook app. since my carrier gives me 9GB and i must use the app not browser.. i get around 3 hour using data connection and with trend on i get 4 hour.
are you charging yours with battery in phone and stock charger or you take battery out and use a separate charger. they say our phone stops at 3000mah if you have 5000mah or 8000mah. wich battery you got?
