Hi all,
My wife's S7 Edge (SM-G935F) was updated a couple of days ago, and now the phone constantly reboots (not sure if related).
I have tried factory resetting, wiping cache in recovery, and still the same thing. I have managed to get it to turn on, but it still reboots shortly after. Mostly it doesn't even start, just goes into boot-loop
Not rooted, and in great condition.
Any ideas what to try?
Thanks

Have you tried booting into safe mode?
It's strange that an update would cause this however you could try flashing the update manually again or downgrading to what it had before using Odin

Thanks, yes tried safe mode, still the reboots... Ill maybe try flashing like you suggest
Flashed the latest firmware from SamMobile, and unfortunately it's still rebooting

Install Smart Switch on PC.
Connect to PC and perform recovery install.
Still no luck , return your phone to Samsung service center for repair under warranty.
Sent from my SM-G935F using XDA-Developers Legacy app

Good shout, thanks
Unfortunately Smart Switch said unable to do on my phone
I do have insurance, but it's the last time I can claim for a year, and it costs the excess, or I have to wait several weeks if I send to Samsung
Any other ideas?

Even on emergency recovery mode?
If not, I would call Samsung and/or you carrier tech support and see if they have any suggestions.

Yeah even on emergency recovery.. Looks like I'll have to claim on insurance
Same issue right here, i tried almost everything... Flashed the new BRO firmware, and i still getting random resets.
i can't even get pass the first Google config in safe mode.
Same problem. Constant re-booting. Impossible to unlock, as no keyboard appears with the unlock screen. Impossible to turn off.
Try to downgrade firmware using odin to stock marshmallow , but first remember to have usb debugging checked in developer options , if they can't be accessed, the only option remains is smart switch , if that too couldn't help , then send it back for repairs.
have also got the same problem since the last OTA update from Samsung. My current version is G935FXXU1DQD7. I'm just downloading the later version DQHF to see if that resolves the issue.
A short term fix is to delete the cache from the system menu (when powering on with power button, home button and volume up button). It sometimes takes me 3 attempts to get into this menu to do the cache delete. After I have deleted the cache I can use the phone again, but it sometimes crashes and starts the boot loop when using certain apps.
I had this once even after fresh flash.
I deleted the cache when booting up.
Then factory reset when booting up..
Then when done i could flash it and solved it for me.

I downloaded the kies version of the firmware of the froyo update and updated the firmware using odin.
After i installed froyo, i wanted to root to apply swype patch and everthing went ok but when i restarted, the phone was stuck on the i5801 loading screen for about an hour
so i flashed the firmware again.
Odin saves the data onto phone and restarts the phone and the phone opens recovery mode but now it gets stuck on a screen saying "delete app data"... "delete files please wait" and it has been stuck there for about 3 hours now and even when i try and open recovery mode, it opens but then this screen comes up
i tried flashing multiple times but nothing works, cant even factory reset now
Please help me out..
note:odin for a change shows a disabled reset time box.. it is faded out)
add http and enter "dl.dropbox.com/u/26157339/compressed.jpg"
here is a screenshot of the screen at which my phone has been stuck for about 3 hours
Also suggest if i should go to the service center coz the phone is under warranty, i really doubt theyd do it for free considering its rooted but i dont mind paying up.
And let me know if there is anyway the service center ppl will know i rooted/flashed
Try taking out the battery and then putting it back, and press the 2 volume buttons+home+power until the phone boots up in recovery mode... Try wipping the memory from there
that is the entire problem, as soon as it goes into recovery mode it starts off like shown in the screenshot
therefore it is not displaying the menu (which has options to factory reset/clear cache) instead its jumping directly to the update sequence but then getting stuck at deleting apps
Try flashing a different firmware, such as an eclair rom. Note that your phone is 5801, so look for those firmwares.

k ill try flashing an eclair rom. I did flash firmware specific to my version it self..
But the problem is that even after the flashing is done, the recovery window has to open where the update begins and thats when the "deleting apps" screen kicks in and doesnt progress
never the less ill try flashing another rom/firmware and see
Hmm, that is weird. Did you flash the bootloader?
tried flsahing a eclair firmware but no luck..
odin runs for a couple of mins, and says pass but still the phone is stuck on the delecting apps screen..'
For some odd reason, my recovery mode is hell bent on deleting some apps but is not able to and is getting stuck and therefore i cant reset/ clear cache..
Do u ppl think this could be coz of the root??
Please suggest something, i dont want to know my phone is bricked for ever considering its not even been a year since i bought it
a second flashing of eclair did it thanks man!!!
it usually works if you flash the very first rom that worked the last time you got problems.
did you flash with your sdcard in your phone?
anyways im just glad you fixed it

OK to start off i am not a noob at this, i have read though the forms and cant seem to find out why my phone will not come out of this bootloop. This started happening 2 days ago when I went to install a new rom on my phone. I powered down my phone, put it in recovery (Twrp), I wiped everything but internal storage. I then processed to flash the new rom. Everything went great. My phone rebooted and worked fine for the first 1 min, when i tried to pull down the notification bar the phone stuck off and went into a bootloop. I then tried to go back to my old rom and had the same problem (notification bar would not pull down). So i went to plan B and used the Back To Stock Form to restore the phone back to stock. The process went smooth as well not a problem at all. When the phone started up it allowed me to set up the voice navigation and name of the phone, as i went to update the prl and profile the phone shut off again, when it turned back on it starts normally and the goes to the lock screen where i am unable to make any iterations with the screen at all besides when it turns the blacklight off, as i try to use the knock on the LED light turns white but the screen will not turn back on (not even with the power button). Then it reboots to the lockscreen again and continues to do it until i manually force it off. I have tried everything from redownloading the firmware files, tried back to stock 3 times, hard factory reset, and reset in recovery mode. My phone is back to stock but i am unable to do anything with it unless i factory reset and go though the set up again, but even then i cant get a connection (even with wifi) without the phone shutting off and rebooting. Everytime the phone reboots the time reads 12:00am and switches to 12:01 really quick. I cant get a connection at ALL (I EVEN TRIED REMOVING THE SIMS AND AND PUT IT BACK IN AFTER BACK TO STOCK PROCESS.)
Im not sure if the application Dr.Web could possibly be making my phone do this. I did have it installed and did not remove before I tried to switch to the new rom. The anti-theft part was active.
SOMEONE PLEASE BE MY HERO AND HELP........I REALLY WOULD HATE TO DEAL WITH LG ON THIS ISSUE IF I CAN FIX IT MYSELF

I am back on factory recovery atm is there anyway to flash twrp back to the phone without it being rooted? i tried to get the computer to communicate with the phone when it turns on but it wont seem to connect unless im in download mode or recovery.

I had the same problem except with me, i was just trying to change fonts manually. It went into a bootloop and i stressed dover it for hours until finally i found out that you have to use the lg mobile support tool (you can find it in one of these threads on the lg g2) and revert it back to stock. That fixed it perfectly fine. Its a lengthy process but simple. If that doesn't work you have to do what the lg mobile support tool does semi-manually with another program lg flash tool which is longer but just as simple if you follow the directions given in the thread to the letter.

they have coders there, I'm sure if they really want to know they can figure it out. If you send it in to get it fix out of your own pockets (meaning you pay them) then i'm sure they dont care, but if you want a replacement due to warranty then it may be a different story.

I eneded up restoreing my phone back to stock and took it into my local sprint store it cost ne 75 dollars to replace the phone not under warranty (if u have sprint protection its free) i told them i took and ota update and it started rebooting itself. If you do get a replacement make sure u back up your efs files to a safe place on your phone. Theses files can become corrupted by flashing roms and kernals.

Not under warranty? Doesn't it have a 1 year manufacturer warranty? The G2 wasn't released on Sprint until November last year so it should have been covered.

Yes its still under manufacturer warranty but when i made a repair order with lg it said it would take 2 to 3 weeks to get my phone back and if they found out it was due to being rooted and flashing roms im sure lg would of charged a arm a leg to repair it. With sprint i got a new phone in 2 days or ordering it.
Hello All
My Samsung Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505) keeps on freezing then rebooting in an unusual way.
The problem is intermittent, it would constantly happen in certain periods and happen less frequently in other periods. At the moment, i can beerly use my phone for 1 minute before it does it again and again. And in this minute apps are just crashing. I get the pop-up messages of applications crashing. I tap ok only for the same message to instantly reappear.
Unfortunately, the process com.android.systemui has stopped
Unfortunately the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped
The issue would happen when the phone is in sleep mode (screen turned off), while im using it, in safe mode or even when its rebooting or on the splash screen.
I am using the original battery and charger that came with the phone and never flashed or rooted my phone. I have however had to flash it couple of months ago after it bricked all by itself. I used one of the firmwares from www.samsung-updates.com

Try to flash firmware package with the latest version of ODIN and Sammy drivers, also use the original cable that came with the phone. Often, cables that aren't Samsung genuine fail to flash firmware.
If this doesn't solve your problem, then you might try a firmware reflash with PIT file. If nothing works, your processor (or motherboard) it's likely fried. Take it to a service centre

Just updated my Galaxy S7 to Nougat this morning, now I can't get a mobile data connection or send/receive text messages.
I've tried restarting, removing the SIM, turning data on/off, and airplane mode. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Have you gone into recovery and wiped cache?

Worse comes to worse, factory reset if clearing cache doesn't do it.
As long as you set everything to back up to the cloud, you should be good. But make sure you have done this before you do a FDR. I usually copy stuff down to my PC just in case though before doing an FDR.
I've had no issues with the Nougat update. I'm really pleased with it. Phone is just as smooth and snappy as it was under MM. Could be the euphoria of having Nougat, but it seems as if it's even smoother than before.

If you can still boot into the desktop, I'd copy down whatever you can to your PC or some external drive and then do a factory data reset. That might be your only option now if you're getting the Dead Andy.
BTW, you weren't rooted or had any other customizations done to the phone's image? Usually, OTAs won't work with modified/rooted phones, but I've seen some cases where the OTA goes ahead and applies itself and then the phone is rendered useless until they either flash back to a stock image (when they've rooted or customized) or factory reset if they didn't customize it.
In this post (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71321950&postcount=15), the user I believe had disabled some stock apps that were required for the update and that caused some issues. He used the Verizon software repair tool and it apparently either re-enables those apps, or if you removed some, it puts them back on. Once he did that, he was able to accept the update and it worked for him. So, if you had disabled some apps, that might be part of your issue, especially if it's an app that is required by the stock system.

Try downloading the Samsung repair assistant and go into download mode. This will wipe your device so you might want to back it up using smartswitch.

Classic "my phone keeps freezing and rebooting". I am quite in the know about flashing roms and such.
It started on the stock firmware 6.1.1 (i think it was). I dd factory resets, cache wipes the lot. It would still randomly reboot.
So i flashed Telstra version of 7.0. Still froze every now and then. Did the same things as above.
Flashed TWRP and wiped everything, flashed Renovate Rom and the bootloader for it, Still did it. Numerus factory resets and wipes of everything. It would freeze at any point from startup, to having setup the phone and making phone calls or on facebook or whatever. It would even freeze in twrp, or loading twrp.
I found that the data partition was corrupt so i re partitioned to ext4. Still nothing. I reformatted every partition so the phone was a complete brick with nothing on it and after flashing clean again it would still do it.
Whats the issue that I'm missing, or is there a way to log so i can find where it keeps getting stuck? It gets hot and blue light flashes and i have to hard reset it or sometimes i have to let the battery drain so i can turn it back on again.
pls help?
Hmm i will give you an advice so you dont have to wait for your battery to drain...just press volume down and power button for like 5 secs and phone will force boot. Anyway back to your problem...did you tried flashing latest stock samsung firmware?

This advice doesn't work with my phone even with holding the buttons for 30 secs and more. For rebooting I can only wait until the battery is completely drained. With little hope for another way shortening time to the next reboot any help is appreciated.
Same here...experiencing the same prob...
Same problem.

It gets hot and blue light flashes and i have to hard reset it or sometimes i have to let the battery drain so i can turn it back on again.
pls help?

Sounds like you need your motherboard replaced i had the same issues on marshmallow thought the nougat update would fix it but realized it was a hardware fault not software..left it in store to get fixed and on repair sheet it said faulty motherboard..

As i know some S7 have motherboard hardware problem, mine has too, what help? warranty and they replaced motherboard. But if you root, you can say good bye to warranty, they look at knox first with this problem.
