Evening,
I've pre-ordered the Pixel 128gb in Quite Black (the blue wasn't available--waaah!) and an XL to test which is best for me. Estimated delivery 24-26th Oct.
How about you?
i preordered the 32gb in black, Oct 24, 2016 – Oct 26
i think i read somewhere blue is exclusive to the US
up on CPW with £50 play voucher and shipping by 20th! Damn you El goog
https://www.carphonewarehouse.com/google/pixel.html#!colour=silver&capacity=32GB&dealType=pm
Contracts are a bit steep!
Way way too expensive for me. :crying:
Looks like it will be the one plus 3 for me.
I'm still on my M7 which I bought for £480 when it was new.
So yeaaaah I was not prepared for these prices.
I'd probably pay £550 for a 128GB, 5" Pixel. But that's a full £150 less than what it currently is. I can't justify that, no way.
Guess I'll wait.

M7 here too. Really had my hopes up when rumours of an HTC Nexus started. Now the Pixel is here I can't justify the cost. There's nothing extraordinary and the real killer for me is the software update support hasn't been changed from the Nexus.
I pre ordered the Pixel 32gb then cancelled the order when my sanity kicked back in. I'm just going to keep my Nexus 6P for another year. I can live without google assistant and the pixel launcher. That being said I am really excited to see what google does with the pixel brand.
I ordered the Pixel 128GB in black from CPW - tried to order on the Google Store, but it broke (clicked to confirm purchase and it just looked at me like a demented labrador). Same price as a ludicrously expensive iPhone 7, but I wanted a 'pure android' phone with the latest updates, enough storage and wanted it to fit comfortably in my pocket - so either pay silly money or compromise on one of my three requirements.
Website initially indicated delivery date of October 20th, but showed October 21st when I ordered. Presumably at these prices there won't be the long waiting lists that there were for the 6P and the 5.
I was very disappointed to see that the pricing is inline with the Apple iPhone 7. Weird, as previous Google phones (Nexus) were priced considerably much lower. I wonder where the spike in price has come from? Google trying to be as greedy as Apple?

Massive price difference compared to the new Google Pixel!
The blue colour kinda looks a bit too plastic for my liking

This is XDA, I am sure your 6P will be able to get the Pixel Launcher and or Assistant. If you root it, in time you'll probably get the same Pixel experience on your 6P.
So So disappointed with the pixel phones and their prices, what was Google thinking?
Mine's on order from CPW. Delivery for 20th October. It was expensive but I figured if I didn't order it, every day I would waste time thinking about ordering it. I was like this with the Moto Z; ordered it, and then sent it back.
Thinking now though...would the Moto Z be a better phone in the end...hmmmm
I may have accidentally ordered one (Black 128GB) direct from the Google Store as I'm thinking the customer services will be better based on past experience if I get any problems.
I was torn between the Pixel and Pixel XL. Given I have a 6P the XL would have been the natural choice, however I don't think I can justify the extra cost (hard enough to justify as it is). Plenty of time to cancel/change my mind though
Same here @Azarin. 128gb in black.
The XL price was just a stretch too far, plus, I only have small hands
Ordered from Google, IMO the customer support is better than CPW. I have sent things back to google in the past without issue.
Soon I will be retiring my Honor 5x (which was a standby phone after my MotoX Style broke, and they couldn't repair it...long story..)
I've been hanging on to my HTC One M8 waiting on the new phones to be announced. The price is quite steep but is compounded by the raw deal for UK purchases.
The Pixel is 650 USD in the US which is just under 510GBP. In the US you get the DayDream Viewer chucked in as a sweetener - but not in the UK. If you want to buy that (once available) its an additional 69 GBP
So, UK price for the pack is 668GBP v 510 GBP for the same in the US......which seems to be completely taking the p!ss - 30% dearer...
I'm wondering if I should sensibly look at something else - Oneplus 3??

Op3 tempting but bigger than I really want.
I've pre-ordered on EE with an early upgrade, only a few days early.
Will this phone have loads of **** installed from EE or will this be just a google phone?
I hate it when carriers put their **** on it!
I'm really tempted to get this phone after being somewhat underwhelmed by Pixel XL. Is MiFavor decent at all, does it have any theming options? Can you use Substratum on it? I really hope for CM13 and all of the other custom Roms on top of course but is it all or nothing in your guys opinions? Cheers

I had the Axon 7 like 2 months ago then sold it and got a Oneplus 3, and have the Galaxy s7 edge as a backup. So then sold the Oneplus 3 it was a beautiful phone, but it was a second hand so had some scratches on the screen and it was bothering. So anyway went back to the GS7 Edge and that phone is I have it already 5 months still cant get used to the edges, they are very uncomfortable no matter in which case i use with it. So decided that in my opinion the Axon 7 was the best. With its ergonomics speed and everything.
It has the best speakers, headphone sound, software its smooth also no bugs that bother me. Mostly its stock Android with little added features. Money doesn't matter for me if i want i can get any phone. Didn't like the Pixels thats Google becoming Apple making a walled garden soon. Im running stock no root or anything the Axon 7 is like Htc M8 perfected . This should have been instead of HTC 10 . Stupid HTC. The camera is very good beautiful sharp pictures compared to Gs7edge which makes the pictures face like painting. And is better the Oneplus 3 in my opinion. Anyway sorry for the long story, but its the best phone for me now. Buy and enjoy.

axon got best audio quality but louder headphone output got us version. htc 10 dosen't have this problem and got better camera. pixel - waste money but if you don't care about audio and camera and need latest software update - go in
Nexues was supposed to get the latest updates. That's bull****. Look at all the Nexuses 6p, 5x and all before it all good phones but not the latest updates. So Google is not even providing updates of its phones and we blame the other manufacturers.

I'm also very interested in this phone, so i just bought it from Amazon...
But one thing is very weird, yesterday the phone cost 500 euros, today it cost only 248 euros (grey version only, the dark version cost 484 euros).
So i ordered it, but i was just wondering is it normal that the prices are like roller-coster ?? It's an import from Germany, i live in France. I just hope that it's not a scam...
Where did you guys who live in Europe bought it ?
I bought it from amazon. de for 449 â?¬. I think you can't get it for 250 it must be a scam or you are looking at axon mini. I live in Slovenia and the phone is top noch. Yuo should buy it from official amazon. de and not resellers...

What're did you get it for €250. Not possible i don't think. I bought mine from amazon uk and was advertised as the 6gb 128gb model so jumped at it paid £470 around €530 i think it was at the time . Got Sent the 4gb 64gb version and seller says he never advertised the 6gb version. Why would i buy the same phone for more money from him? ****!! €449 on amazon.de and .fr and all deliver quickly.
Lucky i had screenshot to send to amazon of the actual phone i ordered. Some dodgy sellers on there as well.

I heard of no rumours about a new model, and yes I still like tablets and hope for an update.

I just checked the US store. The only model available is the 64GB version for $599. I think it's been like that for a while.
The Pixel C Keyboard (magnetic) is going for $99, normally $149. The Folio keyboard is still out of stock.

In Holland i have bought it today
Got one in UK recently. They 64 GB model is now with a £75 discount on the Google Play Store in UK
pixel c sales end at google store
i read a short news clip about google ending pixel c sales. took a look at the store and they are no longer listed.
anyone heard of a new tablet coming later this year?
I bought the Pixel C when released. On bootup, now, the screen is basically unreadably dim. It responds to touch and is working but the screen doesn't turn on completely. It's been going out for the past two months.
I think I'm putting my money into a Surface Pro and using it more like a tablet. That is, since there's nothing on the horizon about a new Google tablet.
If Google does not come out with a new Pixel... what would be a good tablet to buy, wanting to remain with Android? I have a very old Samsung, which was my mom's but it's slow as hell, almost unusable.
Huawei MediaPad M3 if the size is OK for you :
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Huawei-MediaPad-32GB-Silver-tablet/dp/B01L27OXF2
I've read many good reviews about this one, and sometimes you see lower prices on amazon.
Or Samsung Galaxy Tab S3, but it's expensive.
My bought at launch Pixel C screen stopped coming on. I use it mainly for Sonos, news, browsing, ...
I bought the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8 inch. I'm happy with the purchase. If it didn't have physical buttons I'd really love it. I think that would make it a perfect little tablet. It's 1.5 years old but still speedier than the Pixel C. It won't get updates, but I don't mind that.

Utter nonsense.
I saw a T-Mobile kiosk at Costco selling the S8 for $599 with no strings attached. This works for me since I'm in the market for a phone and am a T-Mobile customer. I'm holding out for a reduced pixel 1 price once the pixel 2 is released. The max I'd spend is 600 so unless the Galaxy will drop any further then this seems like a good deal. Thought I'd crowd source some perspective before pulling the trigger. Budget is 600 and under, and I'd prefer the pixel line or the Galaxy line. I'd consider the LG V30 but assuming that will be outside my budget.
OK so the N5X is 3 years old now... any new phones out or coming out that are similar in price (budget-mid price range), and will have similar custom ROM support?
Just curious, as my N5X is still going strong, but there seems to be a roadblock on getting Android Pie to be fully functional in the few attempts I see (encryption?)
I've been keeping an eye on the new Nokia #.1 devices, and other similar specc'd phones.
Thanks.

I replaced my Nexus 5x with an Essential PH-1 on Prime day. This is the first non Nexus device I ever owned but it's very much a spiritual successor to the Nexus lineup. I am waiting for it to go back on sale again so I can pick one up for my mom.
I would consider something like the OnePlus/Oppo if it were available on Sprint but unfortunately my device selection is limited being on this provider.

Those are still pretty spendy at $400+. I'm looking for the $300 or less range, same as the 5X was. I really can't see spending that much for a phone, as I'm not quite as hooked into it as some seem to be, I just need a nice reliable device I can customize easily like the 5X.
Nokia 7+ or Xiaomi Mi A2. Both Android One.
Nokia 7.1 (processor isn’t very good though), Nokia 7.1 Plus (awesome if launches globally near China price) or Nokia 8.1 (TBA).

Yeah I was looking at the Nokia phones as well. I'm in the US, so want to purchase them here so they have a warranty valid in the US.
Any more thoughts on this topic as the holiday sales are upon us?

I did... a little quirky, kept locking up, other little issues. I don't think Pie will be viable for the N5X in the long run.
Right now I'm running latest Oreo stock but rooted with Magisk and Franco kernel.
I'm asking about new phones, not ways to keep my old phone running.
Thanks.
@g90814, you're welcome
The Pixel 1 and Pixel 2 prices are about 300-500 bucks now. And that is very good.

you can try the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE or The Pocophone F1 the Poco has a flagship specs with snapdragon 845 but its camera is not pretty good because Xiaomi just nerf the Poco's camera in the stock camera so you have to install a google camera. Mi 8 SE has snapdragon 710 which is quite rare and according to some people, it's a Snapdragon 845 with a weaker GPU.

Xiaomi Mi 8 SE not available in US as of now unless you want it shipped from China.
Pocophone is an option, but a little expensive for my tastes ($345 for 64GB model) and not available with US warranty (yet).

From everything I found, at that price point, the Pocophone is the best one, anything cheaper is way worse and not many things a little bit more expensive like at $400 or $500 are still not as good as it is. You don't really have to worry about warranty if you buy on Amazon though, if Xiaomi don't give you warranty, Amazon will as well as the resellers so don't worry about that. Bellow that 300 bucks, you may also get some other Xiaomi phones with good specs but most of them are using snapdragon 6xx which is not quite good.
Essential phone is truly the lowest price replacement of good quality.
I wouldn't recommend that pocophone for anyone in America because it doesn't work on Verizon or Sprint.
The pixel phones are all decent, but they have major hardware issues and look ugly.
LG makes the best looking and some of the most feature rich phones, but can't ever update software. (V30 is just an awesome phone form factor tho)
If I had to recommend a few replacements these would be it:
Galaxy s8 or newer Samsung flagships (TouchWiz is better than stock Android in 2018 amazingly)
Essential phone
LG v30*
Oneplus 6t (No other OnePlus phones though because the rest are beat by Galaxy s8/s9 and the essential phone at every price point)
*For v30 you must be a regular headphone jack user. That quad dac is amazing. Makes a $10 pair of headphones sound like $150, and regular car speakers sound like a full on audio upgrade. Being an LG there is next to no software support and no dev support, but the audio almost makes up for it.
---------- Post added at 05:16 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:12 AM ----------
Other option to consider however....
Downgrade to upgrade.
The 5x sucks you'll be happier with a Galaxy note 4, note 3, or a Nexus 6 as they are all faster and better phones in 2018 due to having 3gb of ram.
Plus they have great dev support and in the note devices extended batteries that can last a long time. Going from a Nexus 5x to any flagship with 3gb or more of ram in the last 5 years is really a massive upgrade. That 1gb of ram is the difference between usable and unusable.

Thanks for all that, Nascar. Lot's to consider, but the 'downgrade to upgrade' is a valid point. I was eyeing some refurb Galaxy s# phones, maybe I'll go for that.
I have bought a OnePlus 6 with the discount from Black Friday (and that will be valid until Christmas, I think). It is exactly the same price as the Nexus 5x 32gb originally.: $429,00. In this sense I think it is a proper successor. It is a little big, though.
And I disagree with the post above. The S8 is a great phone, but it is worse than the OnePlus 6 in most aspects but the camera.
