Cast to Microsoft Wireless Display adapter v1 (miracast) wont connect - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

I am unable to connect to a Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter version 1. I updated firmware on miracast device to latest available but it still wont connect for more that few seconds. I am using the samsung smart view on quick settings. Any suggestions to get this to work? a different app or settings? need miracast because I don't have a wifi network connection where i am using the phone. if someone has an MS wireless display adapter v2, can the s8 cast to that?
Thanks for any advice.

I have the same problem. Typing code. Then a mirror that plugs into the S8 Galaxy and disconnects.
What is the solution?

tested version 2 and it wont connect either.

I can tell you that it casts flawlessly to chromecast v2. Maybe will be worth an upgrade to that?

I have the galaxy s7 edge and could connect using an app from the app store called Miracast Display Finder. However on the Galaxy s8 i cannot connect.

I was able to get my galaxy s8 plus to successfully connect to the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter V2. I even watched a movie that I had on my device that was aprox.. 1.5 hrs with no issues!
To get it to work, I had to hold the reset button on the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter for 10 seconds to reset it. After 15 mins of it saying that it is restarting i got impatient and I unplugged it. Once booted back up it connected fine using the built in "Smart View" quick toggle in the notification area. Keep in mind that this setting is normally at end of the quick toggles list. You can find it by pulling down twice on the notification bar, and then swiping the quick toggles left, then click "Smart View". Make sure your Display Adapter is connect to the TV/Device prior to and it'll show up as an option to "miracast" to.
Just in case anyone is wondering, I have the stock latest firmware AT&T Samsung Galaxy S8+ G955USQS1AQG1 and the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter V2 with Firmware version: 2.0.8372.

I have Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Tablet and Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter connected to my Samsung Smart 55" Curve TV with current firmware V2.0.8372 installed on tablet BUT I CAN NOT CONNECT MY TABLET / ADAPTER TO TV? Please offer solution. Thanks

Hello,
I had similar issues.
I fixed it by updating the firmware on the M$ Wireless device to 1.3.8365.
To do this, get a Windows 10 PC. Download the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter application from the M$ store. Connect to the device and you should have an option to update firmware.
Easy....once you know that the firmware can be updated.

Will N4 connect with PTV3000

i know N4 is miracast certified, and pTV3000 is a miracast receiver
does anyone know if someone has actually made this connection happen (demo units etc..)
Thanks!
Miracast receiver -> miracast certified.
Yes, wheels do go on cars.
Android central wrote in N4 review that they didn't get it to work with Netgear Push2TV. I have no idea if it was PTV3000 or some earlier model.
It does not work with the Netgear PTV3000 (Probably because it is only pre-standards compliant).
Netgear is claiming they have an update coming out though to fix it though.

haha too bad your jackass smart reply doesn't hold, since the other 2 members nicely pointed out that yes, it does NOT work
some wheels don't go on some cars, take care
Anyone know of any Miracast receivers that do work with the Nexus 4?
Don't feel like getting buying the $30 Slimport HDMI cable, would rather just put that money towards a Miracast box of some kind.

Thanks for your update. I just get Netgear PTV3000's V2.1.1 firmware update from Netgear Forum. I am not sure whether it can make your Nexus 4 get supported.

I just tried this update, my shipped firmware was 1.0.2 Went fine, but N4 still cannot connect. Phone sees the adapter, but when you tap on it to connect, says "Connecting" and never connects.
Someone know when will be firmware update for PTV3000 to support Miracast?

Try these firmwares.
MD5 (PTV3K_V2.1.4.sbin) = b7a3c5e729ee96dd887b211d2724ef1e

Progress! 2.1.4 almost connected - ended up with HDCP authentication error. 2.1.5 works. But there is a lot to be desired! There is noticeable lag between what happens on screen and on the TV - maybe around 0.5 seconds and it gets worse if you are more than couple of meters away from the receiver. There are often artifacts showing up, video works but is choppy, audio goes out of sync (audio also plays on the TV).
But good to show pictures and slideshows on TV wireless. But not really HDMI cable replacement. Battery consumption (on phone) is considerable too. Battery shattered down by 20% down in under 10 minutes.

Thanks for posting these. I tried 2.1.5 first, but it had the HDCP authentication error.
2.1.4 works though! However video is constantly choppy and occasionally blocky.
2.1.5 Killed WiDi
2.1.1
Finds the Push2TV adapter, but cannot connect. Nexus 4 can find the Push2TV adapter but cannot connect either.
2.1.4
WiDi fails to connect and HDCP authentication fails for Miracast.
2.1.5
WiDi doesn't connect but Miracast works pretty well. Video and audio is a little choppy though.
For now using stock is best for WiDi and 2.1.5 is the best for Miracast. Anyone else have any news or new firmwares?
Has there been any progress with this?

My Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 was able to revert my PTV3K's firmware back to version 1.0.13 from version 2.1.5. If you need to revert back to stock, that is an option.
(edit) After it received the Jelly Bean update, it shows this screen upon connecting:
Hitting "OK" will flash the 1.0.13 firmware to the PTV3K.
This is how I get it to work consistently without the HDCP error..
Make sure the monitor is off before plugging in the usb cable to the PTV. So each time you turn off your monitor, you also need to unplug your PTV.
How do I flash the firmware to the ptv3000?

From PTV3000 guide:
9. How can I update my Push2TV?
a. Use your computer and navigate to http://www.netgear.com/stream to check
for and download the latest firmware.
b. Press the Wireless Display Mode / WPS button on the side of the
Push2TV unit for more than 5 seconds.
c. Using the wireless network manager utility on your computer, search for the
Push2TV wireless network name (SSID) and connect.
d. Open a browser on your computer, and you are automatically redirected to
the Push2TV update page. If you are not automatically redirected, type
http://192.168.3.1/ into the browser address bar.
e. Follow the steps on the web page to upload the firmware image you
downloaded in step a and complete the installation.

There is a 2.2.2 firmware floating around for the PTV3000. I can't comment on the Nexus 4 specifically, but it does work with the Galaxy S3 and the AllShare Cast app on it. I have had great performance with it, especially compared to the 2.1.5 that was just absolutely horrible. I would be interested to know what someone with a Nexus 4 and the 2.2.2 experienced as well.
Also, in the 2.2.2 update, it looks as tho the button on the side for switching between WiDi and Miracast isn't used for switching modes anymore and the device is always "listening" for both types of connections. The screen doesn't reference WiDi or Miracast now, just basically says"connect your device".
Thanks

you cant do that! your tv doesnt have the drivers to support the wireless lan adaptor... also your wireless Lan adaptor doesnt have some video output like miracast... so... your only option is to buy a chromecast or somenthing like that. :good:

You can do it.
first: after mounting the WIS12ABGNX Wireless Lan Adaptor to your tivi, you set Lan connection for it
then you turn on : Nearby Devices (In the setting) from your note and you samsung tivi requests to connect to your phone
then you play a video, and press the "Screen Mirroring" button on the stock video player
then you see 2 options, choose your tivi, and enjoy
Hello everyone , my name is Siddharth. I am new to this forum.
I was wondering if I could use Screen Mirroring feature on my Note 3 (SM-N900 , Exynos International model) to stream media wirelessly to a Sony Bravia 42-inch TV (Model: KL V-40S200A) with the help of a Tenda USB WiFi adapter (Model No. W311M).
The TV was brought in February 2008 so it's definitely not a Smart TV or has built-in WiFi. The dongle and was bought in August 2013 to the best of my memory.
It would really help if I could watch photos & videos shot from my phone without connecting those ugly two port MHL or even HDMI cables.

appradio 3 and galaxy s5

Has anyone got a verizon galaxy s5 to work with pioneer appradio 3? I have rooted my phone, and installed APunchained, but no luck. I am not opposed to a custom Rom or kernal, but cant find a verizon compatible one. Any help would be great. If i cant resolve this, i will have a brand new appradio 3 up for sale.

So I have successfully got this working on My Verizon Samsung S5 (SM-G900V).
Here is my equipment:
SM-G900V with rooted(towel root) 4.4.4 stock rom
ARUnchained Reloaded (Unless you want to wait for years for the kernel to be set to permissive this is the fix. Spend the $30!)
Google Chrome Cast (cable to back to Appradio usb)
Tasker or MacroDroid (I use Macrodroid, it is easy for me to use)
Directions:
1) Verify root on phone (Must be rooted in order to work with ARUnchained Reloaded)
2) Plug in Google Chrome Cast into rear and power usb cable to USB from Appradio
3) Grab a spare laptop, tablet or extra phone (we all know you have at least 3 other devices)
4) Download the Google ChromeCast app (tablet or phone), Laptop (you will need Google Chrome Browser with ChromeCast
extension)
5) Power on Appradio and wait for Happy Android guy on Appradio. (Make sure you connection is set to Others!)
6) Turn on mobile hotspot on phone or device you want to use as mobile data
7) On appradio, touch through all the prompts!
8) Hopefully you see the Chromecast screen
9) Follow setup instructions for Chromecast
10) Once connected and found to work, close the application completely (this is not so important, but this way will teach you
how to cast your screen once you start or your automated system start the app)
11) Open ChromeCast and your will see turn on wifi (DO NOT CLICK THIS!), instead click the menu icon and choose cast screen,
click your Chromecast name and wait!
12) Now once the has happen you should see you phone tablet, laptop on the Appradio screen, if you try to touch now and your
still get the dreaded red X just be patient!
13) Now! Start the ARUnchained Reloaded app
14) Click start
15) Bluetooth will toggle on and off and and you may have to manually connect it from the bluetooth icon on the Appradio to get
it to work.
16) Once your ARUnchained Reloaded app states connection to SPH-DA????? has been established. hit the home button on the
radio or phone.Touch to your hearts content.
DISCLAIMERS:
I do not and cannot verify this for any other platform other than the SM_G900V running similar builds. I can assume that it would work on any other S5 since it is application and bluetooth control and not SELinux permissive driven solution. If you want to be cheap and wait for someone to crack the proverbial nut on this then have fun waiting. I will enjoy my working solution.

HELP: Can't share screen with smart TV

So I have my Huawei P8 Lite, Build no. ALE-L21C432B170 with Kernel 3.10.61-ga9763c9; and a Samsung Series 6 Smart Tv.
The Multi-display shortcut thingy does not find the TV automatically. Through wifi direct I can connect my phone with the TV. Then run again the Multi-display thingy, the Tv's Wifi Direct name shows up, I press it, the TV goes into "Loading" - status and remains there yet the telephone signals that connection failed.
Tried it with an Allview P5Life, a far weaker device, yet with a single button press I could establish screen sharing, without having to mess around in Wifi Direct.
Can somebody confirm that the Huawei P8 Lite devices are not compatible with Samsung Series 6 Smart Tvs or that I need to do additional settings before being able to share screen?
P.S.: As I recall correctly I even tried sharing screen with an other brand Tv but without success. Need Help.

Does the Tab A 10.1 2016 have the "quick connect" feature?

I am interested in buying the tab A 10.1 2916 (t585) but I haven't clearly found yet if it has the ability to connect to TVs and devices without cables.
For example, I can connect my Samsung Note 5 to LG, Samsung tvs and so on, without any cables. My phone scans the area for compatible TVs and I can "quick connect", and either send my screen to the TV or view the TV on my phone.
Is this feature available on the Tab A 2016 t585?
Thank you

All Tab As has Quick Connect previous known as Screen Mirroring. In order to use Quick Connect without wireless HDMI adapter, your TV must be a Smart TV.
Thank you!
Is "quick connect" the same with "smart view" ?
Smart View is not the same as Quick Connect
https://news.samsung.com/global/new-samsung-smart-view-available-for-better-smart-tv-connectivity
Quick Connect only streams your tablet display to TV and nothing else
